Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Thank you, Bubble, for another photo of Illy, and what a unique idea with the proposal bench!

Lovely Paris Christmas photos of decorations!

Next week is Hanukah. The children in Aviv school learned how they were making olive oil in biblical time. They went to pick olives, cut and pitted them, then mashed them a mortar.

Wow, I haven't been here for a while & y'all have been playing without me!  Great photos from both of you, Bubble & Patricia!  Such interesting contrasts of the old designs & new buildings, Bubble. Patricia, surprises me to see flat roof buildings, I would have thought, like in the mountains, safer to put up high pitched so the snow would slide off.

Was your son visiting Paris? I haven't started thinking about decorations but some of my neighbors have their up already. Today I am looking at a pile of leaves from MY tree. I picked up bags full  last week but they were mostly blown in from down the street, then I paid a mowing crew to pick up even more (with my tree still full), and now they are waiting for me again and I'm not in the mood. The wind is blowing like a storm but sun is bright & near 70°. My tree still has about 1/3 of it's leaves, sweet gum trees can be way too thick for the body to support so many, so the nursery people told me. Love the shade but clean up a bit much.

The trees down along the river & in the river bed that became beach, leaves are mostly on the ground. I can see through to the houses on the other side now. Still some birds of all kinds migrating thru, I just haven't been out with a camera as much. Crazy weather, the wildlife doesn't seem to know what to think. We have a few egrets & cranes that should have gone south weeks ago.

Bubble, the kids are getting a great education and not just "book learnin'". I wondered how or where most of the olive oil is produced. Interesting weave in that blanket/rug they are sitting on.

Not my son, but my upstairs neighbor went to Paris for a month or two.

Here is the Eiffel tower by day and by night.

Bubble, thank your neighbor for sharing the photos, great photographer! Dramatic shots.

Don, every time one of your photos shows up on the computer screen I wonder where you live & if you travel a lot with such a variety of subjects. Were you a professional photographer in your young life? My brother was (a professional photographer) and I grew up with a dark room in the walk-in closet my sister & I used. My father & his cousin were into the "new" hobby of printing photos back in about 1913-15, before he went to auto school in KC, so he encouraged my brother with any & all photography. As the youngest of 5 kids, I tagged along with my brothers. I didn't care to play with dolls and paper dolls like my sister!

Hi Shirley...
Nothing professional about me (involving photography). I live in Wisconsin but visit daughter & family in Arizona each Spring.  That photo was taken over their back wall.
Had to reduce the quality by 85% in order to post here

All the photos are lovely, but DONKLAN, your Arizona sunset is spectacular.

As I have mentioned, Each of the five community rooms has remained locked since March 2020, due to Covid. While I was helping water the plants in the fourth-floor community room, I took a few photos. Everything has been piled, but you can see how it used to be. The plants were all donations prior to 2020. The black cart is mine and all the water bottles are for the plants.

Beautiful plants, Patricia....guess they don't get a lot of sunlight during the winter months, do they make up for it during the long days?  What is the blooming purple plant? Whole different world you live in! Thanks for sharing the views.

Shirley

I tried quick edit but won't let me fix the color/font,size so life is not up to snuff this morning!  Fitbit has a blank face & can't get that fixed so may eat an egg sandwich & go back to bed. Cats had breakfast & all off to get more zzzzzzzzzzs.

Shirley, someone said it was a Black Cardinal or Black Prince philodendron. For twelve hours, the plants get plenty of artificial light, even if outside light is only about 3.5 hours. After December 21st, the winter solstice, we'll start regaining daylight.

The plants can be viewed thru half an outside wall with windows on the top between the room and the hallway. The door also is windowed. Two of the five community rooms have walls, and three don't altho, the three without walls have had the furniture either removed or seating removed with signs posted.

I went to bed last night at minus 34 and woke up at four AM  to plus twenty-four. And starting this evening, we're expecting a two-day snowstorm. However, that should be in quotes as only 0.4 inches is expected.

Geographically Alaska has more in common with Canada's Yukon and British Columbia provinces.

Shirley, you captured this perky little pup. Does he/she have a name?

Shirley, Very nice.  As someone with no artistic talent, I appreciate seeing your painting.  Would love to be able to draw but don't even do stick figures well.😒

Today I discovered a miniature crisp, sweet apple from Washington, called a Rockit. I'm normally so-so about raw apples but this miniature, about four would make a standard size apple, is delicious!

Thanks to all the nice comments about the dog portrait. Still giving me trouble with the background. I've changed it over & over and that teal is not going to work for me. They can always have the liner of the frame tinted if they want the accent color. Will keep me awake until that is decided and before I can add the chest fur, eye lashes & whiskers & be done.

Amy, it's a HE & does have a name but for the life of me, I can't think of it now. They've lived there 5 or 6 years and I've called it "T.D." because if you remember those long ago TV shows where this little Tasmanian Devil would pop out of nowhere and scare.. my heart would jump out of the body every time. This little pup would show up at the fence between us every time I would go around to the pool pump area, bark at me like it was going to chew me apart.

Few months ago I locked myself in the back yard & had to go out & around to their back gate to go into the garage from the front. The pup didn't move a muscle until I got up by the house & knocked on their sun room door. The neighbor came to the door and TD started barking at me, I was invited in and that ended him ever barking at me again. I remembered our German Shepherd was the same, if someone was invited into the house they were friends but were fair game to bark at if not invited in. He has a cartoon name....and it's Wiley!!  Got to write that down or I'll forget again!

FlaJean

Patricia, those miniature apples interest me.  I seldom eat apples—too much at one time for me.  Those little ones sound just right for snacking.
