QuoteRAMMEL  good day to you. Not very talkative yesterday?
That's always been a problem of mine.  When I was small I must have been told not to talk unless I was told to.  But I do listen/read(here) all the time.
I've been trying to clean up the house a bit but am not making much progress.  We've accumulated too much "STUFF" over the years. Lots of ladies stuff which two guys can't use but it's reasonably good stuff so I don't want to just dump it.  Quite a bit of new clothing.  Some day I'll come across a  good place to give it too. A couple of items I intend to offer to my neighbor's daughter. She has been very nice to us but lives in Connecticut. She'll likely be here at Christmas to see her mom.

Good morning,

Amy, Not sure how "healthy" the snacks wil be but will be substantial enough to satisfy some big appetites.

Gloria, Mexican Train is played with dominos but it isn't anything like the regular domino game.  Hubby and I used to play that one with friends but they complained because he always 'bid' Nillo and nobody else could win.

Parents of The Grands taught them to play table games at a very young age.  Miss Ellen particularly liked "Sorry". When she was about 4, she loved knocking me back to Start and then smiling sweetly and saying "Sowwwy".  I'd teasingly say, "You are not!" and she would giggle...and then do it again.

Rammel, why is it that "Stuff" collects until it fills all the spaces - and then you need one more cabinet/closet/etc.?  Getting rid of it is a challenge.  There are several charity places here that will take it - but that means boxing it up and hauling it there.  I can nearly always find something else to do. :)

Speaking of that...I do need to organize some things that I've tossed on shelves in my office.  :knuppel2: Get busy, Callie!!

Wishing Everyfriend an Enjoyable Day. :knuppel2:

Good morning from the Interior! I guess we've joined those states with uncertain weather. Even the forecasters are uncertain. Yesterday got down to forty below; last night at eleven PM, it was up to zero. This morning is minus eight, with today's high said to be plus one, overcast and not as cold—a bit of afternoon snow with little to no accumulation.

However, they tell us,

"Special Weather Statement

Source: U.S. National Weather Service

...Significant Snowfall Possible Early Next Week...

Heavy snowfall is possible Sunday night into Tuesday across the Central and Eastern Interior, including Fairbanks. This weather system also has the potential to bring gusty winds to the area, along with freezing rain.

There is still a lot of uncertainty with the exact details of this system at this moment. Stay tuned to weather.gov/fairbanks for the latest forecast information."

So, your guess is as good as mine, or theirs.

Sandy

Good Morning from the mostly milder
rocky coast of Maine.

All is well here ...

Speaking of falling,  again, I have had to train myself to go
slow...  But since my normal pace
is fast,  if I really forget to pay
attention,  I will end up teetering   and
almost fall....   Damn...   Can't afford to forget.

Take care everyone  and happy holidays to All.

Sandy

Maybe it's the season, day starting off with a thud, not tiptoe thru the tulips for me! So far I have nothing to show & it is "half past noon".

Rick, had to laugh at your willing to come back as one of my cats... my first thought I tried to choke back but it's gonna come out anyway.... "You'd be welcome if you can hit that d**n litter box better than 2 of them do!"  :2funny:

I do tend to feed everyone that comes through here or take food to them. Never knew what you might meet at our house, we had a bluejay that lived 7 years, mostly inside riding on my shoulder, a robin that was outside for 8 years but built all her nests (3 each year) to keep an eye on the front or back garage doors because I fed her scrambled eggs, cooked hamburger & honey-wheatberry bread. Fed her mate & babies.

A whole list of ducks & other critters that grew up coming to our door for food, and a couple baby ducks that I had to take with me to MO a few times 'cause they weren't old enough to stay home alone. I would stop at grassy rest stops or shopping centers, let them out of the cage & they'd follow me around for exercise for a few minutes & hop back in the van.

One time I was driving I-35 between Wichita & KC when a car went sailing past me, slowed down & then slowed to a stop in my lane & pulled over when I recognized a couple of my nephews as they got out of their car & came back to mine... they saw a bird on someone's shoulder as they drove past & immediately figured it had to be Aunt Shirley. That bluejay was potty trained & would hop in it's cage to potty or if it saw a Golden Arch & wanted some fries (had to be in cage before I'd open a window). It barked like the dog next door and when I'd been shopping & got home it would give the first half of the old '40s-'50s wolf whistle. I had to answer with the last half or it would try one more time & then give out the screach bluejays call when an enemy is around.

I'm supposed to be working on the next dog portrait but would rather sleep. A different world today with NO wind. It did keep me on edge yesterday with things blowing around the yard & gates blowing open. Didn't have any bad damage here but waited for something to happen any moment. I sat here in the chair & dozed so off for a nap.

Amy

Shirley, got a giggle out of that........don't forget that a responsible pet owner spays or neuters  their pets.....just saying.  :2funny:

Except for birds, these have all been taken care of, Amy. We didn't know what the cats were until AFTER the surgery. Cas just fed & snached one up & handed it thru the back door to me & I put it in the cage when I took them in. Tom went in as Buttercup. The lady across the street already took Callie in after she found out about the babies & weaned them. Did I ever have Bubble post a photo of them all when they were babies & Mama Callie still around?

Amy

Shirley ,I bought a cinnamon cocketiel from a lady that had named the bird Boris, then Boris laid an egg! Name stayed the same for the time she lived here.
High winds again tonight, some areas are without power.

Dang!  I never thought about blaming my "clutter" on Murphy!  I'll have to remember that!

I'm heading for the haystack!  My eyes have already entered slam shut mode twice while I tried to watch TV.  I think they really want to close for the night.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 46º and the temp is on the way down this morning and bringing rain this afternoon!  But today I don't have to deal with the clutter.  I'm leaving that to Murphy!

Tomorrow is my youngest granddaughter's birthday!  It's also the date we lost my Dad.  She gives us a happy day instead of a sad one!  I know Daddy's in a better place!

I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Jane you are warmer than we are,we are @ 31º and clear, @620 am. I have a apointment today at  VA with the hearing people. I am going to see I can talk them into trimming My toe Nails. I have a hard time getting My feet up to where I can do them. hope everyone Has a good day.

Amy

Good morning..

High winds again have knocked out power to certain areas, thankfully we are fine so far.

Might wrap gifts and get that out of the way today. Need to do Scottish shortbread cookies yet too.

Gloria, we could also walk about with no coat here..we let the fire go out  until evening as it was warm enough in the house. Any word on when Yvette will be back at work with you?

Rick."stuff" just slowly grows and then you have to purge!! The one I have a hard time of letting go is my books. When I find someone that enjoys what I read they  are the keeper of those books. As for clothing etc we take them to second hand stores and they sell them ,the money goes to a good cause.

Callie, when we take "goodies" to folks I tell them I drove so fast the calories couldn't keep up so they are calorie free. Christmas is a time to enjoy special treats and then in the new year we can behave.......maybe.

Patricia, your weather is all over the map!! Up down ,up down...you can strike out in a coat and carry it home later in the day.

Better get going..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

At 5:37 AM in the Interior, it's plus-four heading to a high of plus seven. We're expecting a snowstorm of one to three inches but no real accumulation. Saturday, we'll have a high of thirteen, and for Sunday, "..Significant Snowfall Possible Sunday night to Tuesday...

Heavy snowfall is possible Sunday night into Tuesday across the Central and Eastern Interior, including Fairbanks. Snowfall amounts of 6 to 12 inches will be possible over the two days.

This weather system will also bring some warmer air into the area and the potential for some freezing rain, especially southwest of Fairbanks. Strong gusty winds are also possible, especially near the Alaska Range and over summits north of Fairbanks.

There remains a lot of uncertainty with the exact details of this system at the moment, so we will be closely watching as this system develops.

This system may impact travel across the area to start the week.

For the latest information, go to www.weather.gov/fairbanks."

Fairbanks is built partially on the valley floor, north and west, and partially in the foothills, south, and east, so we have a variety of weather. This has been a week of burrowing and next week should be the same.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, 54° and snow in forecast for tomorrow. Just checked where my daughter lives and it is 33° there. She likes it when it gets colder there but my SIL will be bundled up in layers or he will freeze. He grew up in as far south in CA. and still live in the USA.

RAMMEL  I am the youngest from a big family with 7 years between the closest one to me. Of course I was too young for her to bother with and at times it felt like I was an only child so mostly I am quiet and people in this building are not very social, the manager likes us to stay in our apartments and now with the covid getting bad again all the community rooms are locked. We have access to the laundry and mail rooms and that is all.

CALLIE  you still have a few days left to get things ready for Christmas.

SHIRLEY  only if the wind is coming from the north east do I hear it whistling in this corner and I dislike that sound.

JANE  seems like only a few days ago you were watching Kieran after school, introducing her to the library and enjoying books.

AMY oldest son and DIL were here yesterday afternoon and she cut my hair and then bagged up the gifts for him to take home for his home and my grandson his wife and my greatgrand. Less to take on Christmas day. Will give other son his to take home tomorrow. Will be about 2 months before Yvette is back.  Will enjoy that. I really dislike strangers here almost every day and at all different times. I have been in a routine for so long that this new one sending the help out just does not listen. When she want to send someone her at 9 or 9:30 am and I say NO she argues wit h me or else it will be 4 to 6pm and that is too late. I will not give up my SS time in the mornings or my Skype time with my daughter in the late afternoon. Glad there is a library here, have not bought books since coming here. I brought thousands of them to the library where I lived and they had book sales twice a year. I could have fill the room downstairs here with all I had.

Better get a move on, someone coming at 11 and I am not dressed for the day yet.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Jane & Amy, --
This guy Murphy must be a busy guy.  Seems to be everywhere.
"Rick,  "stuff" just slowly grows and then you have to purge!! The one I have a hard time of letting go is my books."  I ended up finishing several clean ups after family deaths, and ended up with all the "Stuff" Murphy left here.  Now too old to use most of it.  Books? - My wife left us a whole bookcase pretty much filled with Cook Books. A few other stray subjects. If they were History Books my son would be happy.  Then there is MY STUFF  :tickedoff:  :uglystupid2:  :knuppel2:  :idiot2:

Rick..you  have a treasure with all those cookbooks!! Someone is going to be the proud owner of them someday.  I too have items from the past ,yet I am not willing to get rid of them. Too many memories are attached to the items.

Have no idea of when the wind will die down but hope it does before nightfall!! Even the birds were acting funny....blue jays that are normally about and squawking were no where to be seen till later on in the day.

Cookies are all set to bake tomorrow and pastry made for hand pies. Wonder what it would be like to have nothing to do in a day??

True - So many things have memories attached. That's why we have so much "STUFF".  As far as the Cook Books, my wife probably mostly used two or three of them - her favorites. Margaret Rudkin(sp), Better Homes, NY Times.  I'm sure she well used others too. But I'm not likely to get into them much, if at all. I suspect that one day down the road they will just be put out to pasture.  :(

Hello Everyfriend!  We never got the predicted rain today and the weather stayed warm enough that I took my walk without a coat.  Now it's saying that the rain will start around 19 and continue through the night.  We shall see!

RICK, I'm a collector of recipes, too and I have numerous recipe books but I find myself frequently going back to the same ones.  I do try all the ones I collect, and sometimes they make it into a permanent book but the old ones seem to hang in there.

I'm heading for the haystack soon.  I can hardly keep my eyes out of slam shut mode so I guess it's time!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

We are back to cooler temps starting at 23° at the moment. We did not get the snow yesterday but may get snow today. Most of the snow and ice from before have melted although there are still icy patches here and there.

Baking the shortbread cookies today and laundry..I know so exciting   Babe had me up 3 times in the night and maybe a nap will be in order this afternoon.

Gloria, I don't blame you for standing your ground. Remind them that because of you they are getting paid to do a job!

Rick, seen but not heard plus when you went to visit you sat on the chair and behaved! I wouldn't dare count my cookbooks!! They date way back plus to a time I was in 4H and beyond. Numerous binders of recipes gleaned from the internet and friends.

Lloyd, my friend is deaf from birth in one ear, wears a hearing aid in the other and asks for you to stand on the good side for her to hear.

Jane, what's on for today?

Phyllis, are you all set for next Sat?

Better scoot.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

LLOYD, someday, one of your grandkids will find your handwritten recipes and cheer that they have them!

Amy, almost set for Christmas.  Need to send a couple more cards, buy a gift for David, if and when he ever makes up his mind what he wants, and order a pie and a few remaining groceries for Christmas dinner and the rest of the week.  If I'm forgetting anything.....it will just stay forgotten!

Still warm here but rain coming in this afternoon and colder weather on the way.  I can't keep up with what to put on each morning.  Crazy up and down weather.

I have two recipe boxes stuffed with recipes and 4 full shelves on the kitchen wall filled with over a hundred cookbooks.  And I don't cook anything from scratch, anymore.   :idiot2:

I must get some breakfast.  Take care, All.
