Greetings all..I'm rammel's/Rick's son. I just wanted to let everyone know that Dad is fine. He is in the hospital with an infection/cellulitis, treated with an antibiotic IV drip. He was admitted Friday and, hopefully, will be released on the weekend. Best Regards to all...Richie.

Rick ( Rammel ) from one person to another who has suffered with cellulitis...Get Well Soon, i had missed you..

Thank you Richie for letting us know about your father..

Shirley

And YOU have been missing, Jackie! Hope it is because you are enjoying your new life, let us know, please?

Rick was supposed to get home tonight so hope all is well.

I'm watching radar & the rain/ice/snow is just north of us so holding my breath we don't get hit with too much ice to break down trees & power lines. I went to the store & got my "what if" supplies and topped off my gas tank just in case. Snow is falling but looks like it should move out before we get too much.

Good Saturday morning,

Richie-Rick's-son, thanks for reporting on your Dad.  Rick, hope all goes well and you are soon back with us in person.

Jackie, great to see your post!  I've been wondering how things are in your world and hope they're going well.

"Winter Storm Izzy" is supposed to nip Oklahoma - mainly east of the OKC area - and have moved out of the state by tonight.  It's bitterly cold and gloomy here but I haven't seen any snow...yet.

Son took me to a "maintenance" medical appointment yesterday and then helped with some errands.  That means I can continue working on some Projects around the house.

"Get busy, Callie"  :knuppel2: !!

Marilyne

Good morning all - I've been absent for a week or longer.  Had surgery on my left hand last Saturday, so difficult to type one-handed.  Huge bandage.  Pain is better now.  I'll be back soon.

Rick -  Good that you're feeling better.  Hope to see you posting today?

Hi to  Jackie,  Callie,  Sandy,  and Shirley!

Marilyne, knew you were missing but thought you had mentioned being out of circulation for a while (but couldn't remember WHY). I seem to have gaps in memory lately, been explaining to my friend that "my brain is just on over-load"..... Glad the surgery is past & worst is over!

Callie, I can't tell which way the wind is blowing but throw out a net if you see a little ole lady sailing past. The bare trees are whipping back & forth, I'm surprised they haven't snapped off, got to be brittle with no moisture for so long. I'm watching a couple birds floating in the wind, think they are . I see my neighbor's little red hen coming to visit. Will put a coat on & take her a snack. The cats just glance at her & don't move but I'm afraid she will cross over my berm into the pitbull's yard next door. He might not be so gentle.

Well, I wrote and posted and read with satisfaction a message that settled down right after Callie and before Amy's birthday posies, only to find it completely gone when I came back in later!  I wonder where old posts go to die, and where they get buried.  And why.  Well, it happens.  I won't make a stab at a rewrite.  Sufficient to say Happy Day to all and Happy Very Special Day to Shirley!  Woo hoo!

Marilyne, it takes a while to get over that hand surgery.  My friend had hand surgery and it did take a few weeks to recover.  I've been missing your posts and trust everything is going well.

Rammel, hope you are much better.

We are having a cold day today.  The weather goes from warm to cold, and then back again to warm so I hope this cold snap doesn't last too long.  brrrrr.  It rained most of the night but at least the sun is shining this morning.

Happy Birthday Shirley.  These years are going by so quickly.

I really should check some of the other forums and keep myself more informed.  Hope everyone has a good day.  It is still morning here but I guess it is evening for you Jackie.  Hope you had a good Sunday.

Marilyne

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRLEY!

Have fun day today, and every day this year!

SHIRLEY..HAPPY BIRTHDAY..

Shirley

Thank you, Amy, MaryPage, Callie, FlaJean, Marilyne & Jackie, it's been a wild & crazy day. We started out before 4:00am with Tom (cat) insisting he was starving so I got up an hour before my usual Sunday morning. Got less than 4 hours sleep (so Fitbit said). It was bitter cold & the trees had total frosty branches, beautiful! Started warming up so the rest of the snow melted & frost disappeared from the trees. My little red hen came running around the corner of the back yard as soon as she had a chance to lay her egg & sneak off.  She was inside the pool area before I could grab & coat & get outside with a slice of "oatnut bread" for her. We moved back out but Tom & Callie stayed inside & waited for me to give them a bite now & then. I did manage to get the carpet cleaned & fresh padding put under the litter box in the bedroom, did what I could to fix for now. When cats are ALL gone I will have new carpet & pad put down in the 3 bedrooms, sitting room, 2 baths & long hall. Tom & Callie have not been kind to it so a must do. That's my world in Kansas! And now I am heading for bed.

MarsGal

Happy belated Birthday, Shirley!

Rammel, I hope your are feeling better soon.

Marilyne, it's nice to see your hand is improving enough to type a bit now.

I know what you mean about the cats and the carpets, Shirley. I am contemplating removing the carpet downstairs and replacing it with plank flooring some time this year. It will be so much easier to clean.

Hopefully, I can get someone out to shovel off the very heavy snow. It is not real deep, but the snow plow pushes it up against the side of the road which makes that area deeper and harder to shovel the resulting frozen chunks. It is currently 36oF. According to the current weather report it won't get any higher and it will be windy.

Other than beginning to gather my tax stuff together, there isn't much to report.

Vanilla-Jackie

FlaJean.. yes a good Sunday morning church service..

GOOD MORNING and
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES
🦋 SHIRLEY 🦋

I could not understand WHY I could not post, and finally discovered that I was not logged in🤪🤪

SHIRLEY, I am absolutely thinking SPRING😘 As AMY SAYS, "each day is one day closer to spring"‼️

First off, thank you, Rickie, for letting us know about your dad.  RICK, I hope you are feeling stronger everyday.

MARILYN, I apologize for not getting in touch with you regarding your hand surgery.  I am glad it is over and you are hopefully getting along OK and without too much pain🙏

Nice seeing you pop in JACKIE. I do hope everything is going well for you.

We will be heading to Dr. Dave's shortly for another week of staying with the grandkids.  Last week went fine and everyone survived our "being in control"🤪🤪😘

JEAN, I watch my Sunday morning church service from Panama City and could see it was wet and windy down your way.

MARSGAL, I hope you found someone to shovel you out!  We live in a HOA and we have the snow shoveled done for us......well,  sort of.  They do the same thing here in as much as they leave a big hump to go over to get out of the driveway.  Any fool would know that is not acceptable 🤪🤪

HEY, CALLIE and MARYPAGE 🥰

I wish you all a good day.

Jenny

Jenny, one of my neighbors got ambitious early this morning (like before light?) and shoveled half my front sidewalk. I went out later, after another snow squall, and shoveled the rest of the walk. It was melting and running down the sidewalk so I didn't want to leave it to refreeze and produce a skating rink. It wasn't as deep as the other week, but much heavier. The car and the road in front of the driveway can wait. Hopefully it won't be too bad to shovel. I don't need to go anywhere until Thursday.

MarsGal

A little more snow shoveling on my agenda for today to help the snow melt along a little. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is calling for more snow on Thursday, the day I am supposed to go get another blood test. It is not supposed to amount to much, but still....

FlaJean

Brrr. It is cold here in Northwest Florida, but we don't have to worry about shoveling snow anymore.  Larry is thankful, I should say, as he was always the snow shoveler.

It has been very quiet here this morning.  Larry was reading but now he is snoozing in his easy chair.  Our neighbors say they are now OK from Covid but we are all still keeping our distance for awhile yet.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Shirley

Thank you for the birthday wishes, MarsGal & Sandy. This was one year I am happy to forget! We had our last nice day for a while & the sky actually has that blue-gray look with the cold yellow setting sun so kind of a shivering evening. Not much accomplished today except eat, sleep & feed cats. Have a ton of laundry to do but will take that on tomorrow.

MarsGal, I did have the kitchen carpet & inlaid linoleum in the joining room taken up as soon as Cas died, had the wide dark oak planks put down. Not at all sorry to get rid of the carpet but not sure wood floors are the best for cleaning. I have "country dark pine & oak" furniture in the family room/kitchen & a large oak Mennonite made table with chairs & bench to spread all across the room for family gatherings. I inherited my gr-grandmother's walnut hutch so that dictated what all went into that double room. BUT, I think I will just go back to carpet for the other end of the house & have a look at newer type carpet. Those rooms have the drapes that were in the house when we bought (can you imagine, 33 years old?). I don't like change & said from the start that the drapes were what sold ME the house. Family gatherings are now at 2 of the grands houses as they have the kids & plenty room for them to play. I still bring much of the foods & enjoy doing. So that's my life. Half of my house is formal & other half country.... just like me.

Now to organize the laundry for tomorrow. Jean, just had a call from son, his wife & their gr-son at Disney.... they are all staying on the grounds (whatever that means). Said it was a little chilly first thing in the morning but needed to strip down afternoons. I think it was 13° when they left Wichita & we will back down when they come home. Both pairs of gr-parents plus the daughter/son that has their 2 grands all made arrangements to enjoy those grands & this is their 2nd time to go, nice they all get along!

Jenny, I check the cams at several places in CO nearly every days & shocked how little snow this winter. I fear for the summer fires. We are dry here but not as dangerous as the mountain fires, in spite of our winds.

MarsGal

Shirley, what I had in mind is not wood flooring exactly, I don't think. Whatever they call it, it is great. If George's cats barfed on it or otherwise made a mess, it cleans up quickly even when dried on and without leaving a stain. It doesn't have the feel of vinyl though, so I am not sure what kind of composite it is. I do know where he got it, though. The previous owners told me that if I preferred wood floor, the wood is intact should I care to take up the rug. That was around 13 years ago. Who knows what condition it is in now, and I suspect it would cost as much if not more to get it reconditioned. That is something I will be asking about too.

It is supposed to get up to around 44oF today. I am hoping to see some sun with along with it. Too bad the weather going to drop back into the low 30s tomorrow and give some more snow. It is not supposed to be much, but I am not looking forward to driving in it to get my bloodwork done.

FlaJean

Shirley, The weather here in Northwest Florida is colder and more rain than central Florida where Disney is located.  Although today it will be in the high 60s and then dip into the 50s again for the next week.

It is nice that your family can stay right there at the Disney complex.  I love Disney.  I know it is fantasyland but we all need that, especially during this pandemic.  It is also educational.  There is a Morocco Pavilian in the World Showcase section that really surprised us when we visited.  We lived in Morocco for almost three years and we were surprised at how realistic the Morocco Pavilian was.  It was very much like where we had lived.

Marsgal, several years ago our daughter had floors installed.  It is considered some type of tile but looks just like hardwood.  She really likes it and it is very easy to take care of.  She had it installed everywhere except the bedrooms where she decided to install carpet.  She has two little dogs and she said she was really happy with her choice of flooring.

The sun is shining.  I'm thinking of you, Marilyne, and hoping you are not in too much pain and that you are healing.

Have a good day all of you.

Shirley

I'm hoping to find flooring that can take care of it's self, any suggestions? Don't think it will be this white plush again! I have a whole fleet of vacuum cleaners but they need me behind guiding. Too much stuff on the floors for the robos. They don't make the "power drive" upright  anymore, one reason I have a fleet, keep hoping to find one easy to use like 20 years ago. I called a repair place one evening & the man assured me he could tune up/repair one of the self propelled, next morning I loaded it into my little car (no easy feat) & took it right down. I went inside to a lady sitting at a desk, noticed a lot of new (different brands) so asked if this was the right place for repairs. She asked what model & promply sneered at me, "we can't get parts for those anymore!" I tried to explain about the nice man the day before but she brushed me off like I asked her to clean my house! Needless to say she would be the last person in the world I'd buy anything from! Well, got that off my chest!!! Long time ago my brother had a carpet business & would go to market/factories every so often. Came home one time with indoor outdoor sculpted that looked dressy & was so easy to take care of. Perfect colors for that 30+ foot room with floor to ceiling picture windows on each side of a sliding door (could see any spot or whatever on the floor before). The 30 something foot wall was all windows so the thermo drapes were wall to wall & exact color of the thread woven in the carpet. I absolutely loved it, was no problem with 3 kids and a German Shepherd. My brother said "they discovered at the factory the carpet was too expensive to sell" so he got a bargain & so did I. Nothing I appreciate more than a bargain.... when we were building that house our favorite words were, "I can get it for you wholesale". I'm rambling & better get a move on.

Marilyne

Just a quick "hello", to let you all know that I'm reading all messages here, and in other folders - just  not able to respond with my usual long-winded, rambling posts.  Just as well, I know. :D  Went to the doc yesterday, and the wound is infected, so back to the antibiotic, and big hulking bandage the size of a boxing glove!

AJ is doing all cooking - which consists of heating up frozen, soup, or deli items, making coffee, etc.  fortunately, son and dil came over a couple of days ago and brought some nice homemade meals.  The weather is beautiful - warm and sunny - so I can walk around the yard and enjoy the fresh air.  Today we aregoing for a walk in the local park, and then getting a Starbuck's Frapachino. (sp?)
