Another cold, windy day here and the snow Patricia is not getting has decided to come south...and to be here Thursday.
 Thanks, Patricia! :smitten:  :2funny:

Sharon...I'd gone by boat to England and met with a group of 18-24 yr olds and we toured Europe that summer.  I had to fly back in August because my teaching job restarted before the ship would have gotten me back.  [The ship had a miserable return...hit bad storms and not a pretty picture from friends who came back that way.]  Bunny sounds like a typical teenager or toddler who decides what was good one day won't do the next!

Darlene...glad you don't need ear drum repair.  Are the fires in the hill country or ??  The national news is always so vague on locations.

MaryPage...THAT music had words a person could understand and sing along with.  The current "stuff" makes no sense to me and is much too loud. :tickedoff:

Mary...hurrah on the shingles shot.

Hi, diglady!

I went for another massage today and she spent the whole hour on my neck and shoulders.  They were so sore and "knotty."

Nothing else new here.

jane

Marilyn

Yesterday Gilbert cam after work and we filled out my Advanced Directive and the Polst for Keith. I still need to get two more witness signatures but that's easy to do.

All is well here, Keith's youngest on called yesterday and he sure did ask Keith a lot of questions about the past and Keith couldn't answer any of them. It is so frustrating to listen to the questions which they all know he can't answer. It really breaks my heart when they do that. The middle son is so much better and bout not doing that he just listens to his father and answers the questions that Keith asks him.

Good morning Buddies..Jane..yes we have had fires in hill country..one day. I could see lots smoke..think they are 80% contained ...but wind is blowing hard today...we desperately need rain..I need a massage..have been having Charlie horse pain in my right calf...only able to walk 3 times around tract today...yes had good time with my daughter..hope to go visit 2 of my sons next month..one son lives here..Marlyin sounds like you are getting things done.Mary Z..I haven't seen many wild flowers blooming yet..we usually have lots bluebonnets...too early I guess..Sharon hope you get relief from your pain..send us rain to Texas...Hi to Mary page and Patrica...have a great day....

Good morning, we had a slight dusting of snow overnight but its back to melting again. This is the slowest and latest spring in my memory. Is it only me or is it like that in other places, other climates?

Marilyn, my mother had Alzheimer's in the nineties. She was one of the first in our city or at least the first I'd heard of it. She died in 2000 from pneumonia. It was horrible to see her decline so I can understand your's and Jenny's feelings.

CC, we've had those fires here. It's known as a fire ecology as we live in the midst of an arboreal forest that covers almost the entire state. Then we had a twelve-year drought that ended in 2019. We're centrally located so most in the Interior re-locate here from floods and fires, with the floods caused by backed-up spring ice jams.

Jane, I'm having aches and pains right now from all the fluctuating barometric pressure. And my skin is so dry, I've literally scratched holes in it, we are so dry inside. Yesterday, they said less than 2 percent humidity. Every time I even get close to water, I slather on the special body creme and my skin literally sucks it in.

SharonE

Hi Gals. I got the newsletter finished :cheer:  :excited:  :excited:
We've got rain predicted for tomorrow. Wish I could share it with you, Darlene. Glad no punctured eardrum. Good luck with the pain in your leg.
Do you take magnesium? It really helps with those.

Patricia, I never heard of 2% humidity. It must be awful. Sorry for your pain. I guess we all share them.

Jane, I wondered about the trip. Must have been a great experience. I hope the tornados don't hit near you or Mary this week. You're right about Bunny. She ate some of the food I fixed for her tonight after turning up her nose at the kidney food again.

Hi to Mary and Mary Page. Stay well.  Sharon

MaryPage

Hooray for you, Sharon; getting that newsletter done.

My big headache lately has been getting my taxes done.  I mailed off the Federal return several weeks ago, but have a little bit left to do with my State return.  I will feel as though ten tons, at the very least, has been lifted off my worry pile when I finally shove it in our old, beat up mailbox.

I used to get them done by the end of January.  Then February, and so on.  I cannot bear the thought of giving up and hiring someone.  I've been doing my own since I was nineteen!

It is not the how to do it that eludes me now.  It is the stamina to undergo a session with it.  Actually, the main body of the return is, and has been for a while now, satisfactory complete.  I have only two additional forms with backup information to attach, and then will copy the whole thing and, WOO HOO!  We can do the Happily Releaved jig together!

patricia19

After being gouged by my ex and the IRS, I now depend on my accountant.

One time my ex-husband didn't declare some carpentry jobs, and in 2013, IRS came after me for payment as we had foolishly, in hindsight, filed a joint return. I knew he had done some on-the-side carpentry work but didn't, at the time, really pay attention to how he was or wasn't paid. We divorced in 1985, but while I have no idea if he was making payments, I know that I paid quite a chunk for almost a year paying for his under-the-counter work.

Dreary, Wed. Here and falling temps, with rain, wind and snow to come.  March really going out like a lion. And my body doesn't like it.

I see tornadoes are again hitting the southern states.Stay safe, MaryZ.and Sharon.

Marilyn...good to get that legal work up to date.

Darlene...enjoy visits with your sons.

MaryPage...you're much braver than I am.  I gave up doing our taxes when my husband had mileage to claim, expense accounts, etc.

Patricia...hope you see spring soon.  Not happening here .

I'm probably the only one here, but I am tired of hearing about Will Smith/Chris Rock.  I have no idea, nor do I care, who Rock is.  🤯
Bad JANE

patricia19

Isn't that simply Chris Rock abbreviated?

I too feel that everyone is trying to use it as a sound bite.

phyllis

Jane, thank you!  I have been "ranting" to my son that I am sick of hearing about these pampered, overpaid, over-privileged people who somehow think their actions are excusable because they believe what the popular press gushes about them over and over.  And, like you, I don't know who the heck they are. I feel there are much more important issues to report than people who behave badly in "Hollywood".

I don't mean to intrude here since I am not a Breast Cancer survivor but I enjoy reading this Forum and what you all have to say.

MaryPage, I think you and I are the only ones that prepare our own taxes.  I don't like doing them but I like even less paying several hundred dollars to someone to just write down all the numbers that I spent time collecting and arranging documentation for.  I figure that I can do that job just as well.....and for free.  :2funny:

MaryPage

Phyllis, you and I are cut from the same cloth.  I will NOT pay someone else to do what I am perfectly capable of doing myself.

I have to admit to a strong rush of confusion.  I do know who Will Smith is, but never heard of Chris Rock.  I did not watch one singe nanosecond of these Oscar awards, but only caught up with this story via the news. Now, I will bow to No One when it comes to a revulsion for violence of any sort.  If I see a child smacked, my blood rises and suddenly I want to commit violence myself!

But Times really change, don't they?  Back in my day, what Smith did would have been massively approved.  Why?  Why because he would have been the chivalrous, caring husband coming to the defense of his wife's reputation!  It is as simple as that.  And, for Heaven's Sake, he did not come with dueling sword in hand or anything anywhere like true violence!  He SLAPPED the man who had just insulted his wife!  So you see, based on protocols from the majority of MY lifetime, what Smith did was the thing to applaud.

But I occupied this planet starting in 1929, and Times: they are achanging now.  Just saying.  Color me perplexed.  Other than that, which seems to be a rather permanent state of being now that I'm 93, I could care less.  Let these younger generations be what they choose to be, say I!

jane

Phyllis...you're welcome at any time to post here.  And YES, I do agree with you and MaryPage...I simply don't care a whit about the Kardashians and their antics or any of those other "stars."

I DO care about the Ukrainians and their valiant fight.

And so March here is going out with wind and SNOW...and cold.  Roads are clear, but I'm not going anywhere today and the snow on the grass will disappear next week, if we get into the 50s as forecast.

Take care, Friends!

jane

Re the AAward hullabaloo - I don't watch award ceremonies in general, but heard about it on the news. I pretty much agree with MaryPage about that incident, etc.

That storm front roared by my place about 11 pm last night, lots of wind/thunder/rain. No damage in our immediate area that I've heard of. I haven't seen any local news today, so I don't know about other damage.  Hope all the Buddies are okay.

patricia19

I haven't had television by choice since 1997, so all of these reality shows have thankfully passed me by. However, the pandering of these folks who earned billions simply for overexposing their lives means that we all have heard of them rather we wanted to or not.

From what I've seen, the comedian, Chris Rock, has commented about Smith's wife and her disease before, and evidently, her husband snapped. I believe it was a tempest in a teacup that has been kept going simply for publicity and news bites. And it makes me even happier that I'm not enslaved to that box or streaming or whatever is done these days.

SharonE

I also am tired of hearing abbout Will Smith. I think he was wrong wrong wrong in using violence and creating a scene. He could have said something in his acceptance speech about not appreciating it, but violence is never called for.

Jane, I agree. I don't know much about any of the stars these days and could care less. I do care about Ukraine also. No severe weather so far here, but supposed to be windy and possibility of severe storms tonight. It rained all morning.

Thank you, Mary Page, for the congrats on my newsletter. However, it turns out there has been a glitch in getting it printed because I created it as a google doc and that isn't compatible with the office computer, so the director is trying to get it figured out. She was the one who told me to do it in Google.  As for taxes, I hate to pay to have them done, but the investments are too difficult for me to figure out and I like the security of knowing it's done right. We started using a CPA when we had our pharmacy and have never stopped. It's still a pain to get all the info together though. I sent mine in a couple weeks ago.

Marilyn, good for you on getting all the legal stuff done. It's too bad K's son isn't more sensitive to his problem, but at least he calls.

Nothing much going on here. Just found out it is supposed to rain in Tallahassee all day Tues when I'm there. Groan.

Stay dry and well, everyone. Hi to all I haven't mentioned.

Sharon

Tomereader1

There is a new book out by Will Smith, simply titled "Will".  It would not surprise me if the book sales were not going too well, and the slap was just a publicity stunt, to get Smith's name into the forefront, and increase sales.

patricia19

There's too much ink and speculation on a minor incident. MSN shows five or more "breathtaking" stories of a perhaps 5-10 minute instance just by clicking on it.

Tomereader..I'm betting you are 100% right....and who'd buy that book....because, like many of you..."Who CARES?" about these overpaid, narcissistic "actors."

I have tv and watch news shows and netflix when I'm in the mood.  I haven't watched a regular tv show...since....hmmm...maybe Howdy Doody... ::) No, there were others...Mary Tyler Moore, etc. but that's about it that I can remember.

MaryPage

I used to watch Ally McBeal.  Callista Flockheart?  Wasn't that her name?  She was a huge star, and then she married Harrison Ford and disappeared.  I have never wished to disappear for him, or any other man.

I don't mean I wish to be a big star.  I am a very private person: more so than most.  I mean I always wished to be myself. and not a Mrs. whatever he was.  Flockheart just up and disappeared!  Made me nauseated.

patricia19

She is still acting. "Calista Kay Flockhart (born November 11, 1964)[1][2] is an American actress. On television, she is best known for her roles as the title character on Ally McBeal (1997–2002), Kitty Walker on Brothers & Sisters (2006–2011), and Cat Grant on Supergirl (2015–2021). In film, she is known for roles in The Birdcage (1996), A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999), and Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her (2000). Flockhart has won a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award throughout her career, and she has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards. She has been married to actor Harrison Ford since 2010."

She adopted a baby boy at birth in 2001 and wanted to spend time with him. She simply hasn't achieved another breakthrough role.

patricia19

Good morning from the Interior, I hope everyone is doing well, staying healthy and sane.

jane

Good afternoon, Friends!  The snow from this morning has stopped and at 35 degrees is very slow to melt.  The roads are slushy.

I've been to Urgent Care this morning...suspect a UTI.  I'm going to try cranberry pills for a couple days.

Nothing else new here. I didn't sleep well at all last night and then up this morning to get to Urgent Care when they opened at 8:00, so tonight will be a better sleep, I hope.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

replying to see if it goes through OK...very hot here today. 85....so dreading the summer temps.....

jane

Glad you're in, Darlene!  Maryz still not.  I'll try sending her another link.

maryz

I finally got here - thanks, jane!

Sorry to hear about your temps, Darlene - but that's Texas for you. As is the snow for Iowa, and the roller coaster here in Tennessee.  We had possible frost last Friday night, will be in the 70s in the upcoming midweek, and back to a frost prediction next weekend.  Oh, well....

Thanks, Jane for the link. I'm here. Sharon

patricia19

Good morning; glad to see everyone is making their way back! We were melting, took an intermission last night for a light snow dusting, and are at plus five presently.

Jane, could you send a link to MaryPage? Or send it to me for her? Michael sent me a command prompt to send out, but there are some I know it wouldn't work for.

MaryPage

Thanks!  I could not get in despite all the attention from Jane and Patricia and others: could not get in by bedtime last night, but could get in this afternoon.  Have heaps of things to accomplish, so have to get going, but love & Happy
Sunday to one and all.

jane

Hurrah...Sharon, Maryz and MaryPage present and accounted for.  We're still missing Alpiner and a couple who stop in from time to time...hope Tomereader is in and Phyllis, etc.

Snow is gone and rain to come today and throughout the week.

Nothing exciting here...doing laundry....I swear someone sneaks in at night and drops off dirty laundry that looks like mine! :idiot2:

Take care and stay healthy!
