Happy June 1 to everybuddie!

It's a wonderful morning here...temps and humidity are breathable, so I just have to get motivated to get out and walk a bit.

Stay safe and healthy,

It's been in the 90s here for the last couple of days. And the a/c in our dining room is still not working properly. I've heard that it's going to take some major work to fix, requiring corporate approval, etc. It's been relatively okay for breakfast and lunch, but I'm getting room trays for supper. A "cold" front is supposed to come through tomorrow, with the high predicted to be near 80, so maybe I'll get to the dining room then. I really do dislike the hot temps of summer.

Happy June to all the Buddies!

Good morning wher is every
Buddy?

I am going to lunch today with my friend Jeannie, we are going to Applebee's The have the best Strawberry Chicken Salad. The caregiver will stay here with Keith.

All is well here I went for a blood draw yesterday but they couldn't get it to flow enoughso I went back today and Hallelujah success,

jane

Marilyn...great you can get out for a lunch with Jeannie and have someone now to stay with K.  You sure need that time away.

Mary...hope they get that AC working.  I, too, can't heat or stay in a room that's way too hot.

Here it's AC one day and heat the next.  Today is overcase, 58 and raining off and on.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

jane

AC on one day; heat the next day.
I'm off to the hospital for blood work and then maybe to Farm Fleet for bird seed.  More rain and storms today and temp in low 60s.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Jane hope your blood work is good...I'm having to fill my bird baths more often...the blue jays love that water....have a great day and stay safe

jane

Darlene...way too early for 100+ temps for me!  Stay safe and keep that AC running.

Marilyn

Good morning. Not much new here today. I've had a couple of night whre I didn't get much sleep.

Keith is hanging in there as usual nohing new there either.

Have a wonderul day ladies.

maryz

We must already be in the summer doldrums! Nothing new here, either, Marilyn.

I complain when the temps reach 90, so I don't envy Darlene her weather. Jane's up-and-down isn't much fun, either. But we manage to cope somehow.

Hugs to all the Buddies!

Afternoon, Buddies!

I have been out and about today...unusual for me.  I had to go to the bank and went inside...for the first time in about 2 yrs...and only knew one person in there.  Big turnover in staff, apparently.  So I got some "walking around" money as my Dad called it after he'd retired.  Before the days of credit cards, etc.

Then I went out and voted in the primary and took myself on to one of our two golf courses for "Taco Tuesday" lunch.  It was delicious and then I thought...time for dessert...so drove on out to the DQ and had a mini blizzard of peanut butter cups.  DELICIOUS!

I've been working on some things for the Latin classes at SeniorLearn I still help Ginny with.  It takes me a lot longer to get things done than it used to! ;)

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Good very late morning from a sunny Interior with blue skies. We have daily lows in the mid-sixties and highs in the high seventies and low eighties. About ten degrees higher in the highs and lows than what the weather folks forecasted.

Nothing new here for me either. I spent yesterday out and about hunting and gathering in our local stores, a mini version of what some of us did last Friday.

Marilyn

Good Morning Buddies  Jane I have what is called Mad Money. I try to keep einough for Gas and a few other thing so I don't use my credit carf. Credit card are just to easy to use.

I'm with you Patricia, "Nothing New Here[" I have absolutely nothing on  ay to do list or adgenda.

The sun is shining, it is a beautiful day.

Hello to all Buddies who may come n to visit today./size]

jane

Morning, Patricia and Marilyn and all who come in next.

Lots of rain this morning and in the high 50s, but clearing how and sun is coming out.

Nothing going on here either.

Stay safe and healthy and happy,

jane

The building's social committee is back operating after two years. We had a Memorial Day picnic, an advert for wood planter box rentals for the front of the building's gardens, and notice of spaces available for a parking lot rummage sale sometime this month.

Libraries and others are resuming trips here, and other organizations are advertising talks, lunches, and offers. The open-air spaces such as the enclosed dog run and smoking area across the street have reopened. Everything is back to so-called normal except most of the five sitting rooms remain locked.

There is still reduced staff, no inspections scheduled, and maintenance still arrives shrouded in layers of plastic, including head and feet.

On the personal front, I need a few grocery items, a few towels washed, and that's my day.

We are in a drought condition & need rain so badly !!  So far our well is holding up , its 175ft. deep . I'm going grocery shopping this morning so want to get back home before the weather gets hot .
The last I heard gas was $6.25 a gallon .  We are only driving to needed to go places .  I would love to go on a trip !!
My high school friend had a tumor removed a couple of weeks ago & it was cancer . I would love to visit her but we are 1500 miles apart .  Our daughter had surgery yesterday for carpal tunnel in one wrist & will have surgery on the left wrist later this month .

Cottoncandy

Good morning...nothing new with me...I did walk my mile this morning..early...temp to be 105 this weekend...we sure need rain..our rivers are very low..deer is coming into town looking for food and water...have a safe and cool weekend

jane

Friday morning greetings, EveryBuddie!

Patricia...sounds like getting back to "normal"...whatever that is.

Alpiner...the lack of rain is certainly hurting your part of the country and now the high temps.

Darlene...same story as Alpiner...need rain and high temps.

Both of you be careful in those triple digit temps.

We're suppose to have 3 days of rain, but it's not hitting the ground, somehow.

I got disgusted with my "wrong window" situation...now going on 2 years...so went down to the small town where that lumber yard is.  Two people working in the front...and I asked if John happened to be in...and he was!  He had no idea who I was or my situation until I started to rattle off the dates I'd left voice mail...no responses to any...and finally got him on the line last July 28...and he went to "look" for my window...no luck...and no luck finding any of the paperwork!  The lady doing billing etc, looked up at me with a friendly smirk on her face...and when he went back in his office to look again for paperwork under the contractor, smiled at me and said..."that's a long time to wait."  I said, "Yes, and my patience has run out."  She just nodded.  Soooo, he's now to come Monday morning and we'll start over from the beginning.

My allergies are driving me bonkers, so I called and was surprised to get an appt June 24 with an allergist in Dbq where I go for my cancer surgeon.  I thought it'd be weeks to get in.

My dehumidifier died, so I ordered a new one and will get my neighbor to help me get it to the basement next week.

So...that's what I've been up to.

Covid is rising here...only 1 visitor a day at the hospital...and 0 at the nursing home.

Stay safe and healthy!  Too much shooting going on everywhere for me to venture out very far or into stores at busy times.

Good morning, its cloudy here and with possible coming rain.

Darlene and alpiner, so sorry for your 100+ temps. But then that's not all that unusual for you.  We're due to be getting temps in the high 90s this week - and that is ususual for us. Especially in June - maybe for a day or two in August. And your drought is so dangerous, too. We usually have rain and the awful humidity with it.

Guess we'll always have the weather to complain about. Sighhhhhh.....

Greetings, and Happy Days to all.

We have not had the nineties; at least, not yet.  So far our temps have been moderate, with the lovely breezes coming off the bay being something to rejoice in.  I feel for those of you taking the heat.

Our weekdays are full of ladders being put in place or moved, much chatter and banging, and me keeping my draperies closed until the workmen depart and our usual Great Quiet that I love so much about this place comes into being once again.  It is just so jarring to look out a window and see a face looking back at you.  Our new roof is coming along, and I am cheered by the fact that most of the loudest noises seem to have moved a good halfway down the building now.

Today is quite grey and watery, but we have mostly enjoyed sunny, sunny brightness with lots of white sails skittering over blue waters.  I love my life in this spot on this planet.  What a lucky gal I am to have washed up in picture-perfect Paradise!

Have a good one!

MaryPage...good to have the clang banging moving further on!

The heat and humidity from the west and south west are moving in on us.  Next week to be high 80s and 90s with lots of humidity.

Saturday was "Rhubaque Day"...rhubarb and BBQ on the river.   I went down to see the "vendors" who were on a closed part of a main street by the river.  One of the tents was for the Democrat Party and there was a young man I'd had as a student and his wife as well.  He's a retired Lt.Col in the AF, has a doctorate and teaches at one of the the Univ. of Wi- campuses.  It was fun to see him again, and I came home and made a donation to his campaign.

I ordered my new dehumidifier from Amazon and it was delivered yesterday.  My lawn man helped me get it out of the box, and he took it to my basement want replaced the one that had died.  I've had it on and it's working great drying out the basement.

That's the wonderful thing about my small town...people we dealt with for years will help me out when I need it.

There's nothing on TV to interest me...seems to be all golf and car races, so I've tuned to music and continue my reading.

I did get a load of clothes washed and dried and put away for the hot week coming up.

Take care and stay safe and cool,

jane

Cottoncandy

Hi from still hot and humid Texas...I went to a 80th Birthday dinner yesterday...a friend of mine..it was well attended and nice to visit with some haven't seen in awhile..she is a retired teacher.....have good rest of day...stay safe and cool

jane

Same weather news as Darlene...heat advisories from tomorrow morning through Wednesday evening>  heat index in the 105-107 range.

My massage on Wed. was canceled.  She has covid as does one of her children!

My window man did show this morning and he measured again, so hopefully I'll get that fixed and off my To Do list.

I listened to the Jan6 Hearings again this morning.  Then I went to WalMart for a few groceries.

Now home to enjoy the cool AC.

Morning, Buddies!

My sister in Ohio lost power in that massive storm that swept up the Ohio Valley.
She said she finally got it back on at 3:00 am this morning.

Brutal heat and humidity continue here, too.

Stay safe and cool,

jane

patricia19

It's warm here too and hazy with the smoke from the western fires. We didn't get the promised rain or wind, so there's still an alert to stay in if you have breathing issues or have young children.

Plus, the Steese highway year-long maintenance redo is in full swing, and all the traffic is rerouted in front of this building and along the river.

MaryPage

It was really hot here today.  I think Chip told me it was 88 degrees.  Usually, the a/c cuts the humidity inside here, but today it failed to do so, and I had a hard time breathing.  Had to use my oxygen for long periods.  Worrisome, as they predict a hotter and more humid summer than ever, and we are just dipping into it, as it were.

Nothing more to report.  Hope you are all doing well.

jane

Patricia and MaryPage...good morning to you and all Buddies coming in later!

Same story here...HOT and HUMID.  I've got a call in to AC guy to stop by.  My one ductless AC isn't working and I need that to be in tip-top shape before next week's all high temps and humidity!

Stay safe and cool!

jane

patricia19

Good morning from another hazy windless Interior. We're still at our low of 55 presently but will head on to 80 later. Nothing is happening here besides a small grocery trip and re-notifying maintenance of an ongoing issue with my lower kitchen bar cabinet.
