Patricia...glad that helped.

Dreary day here...raining on and off.  Joints don't like it so just sitting with my heating pads and reading.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

One reason I posted the info is that many seniors have trouble with their balance and or falling.

And especially those of us who live in the "cold, ice, snow belt."

I'm waiting for the Orkin people to come and try to find the wasps' nests that are producing so many of those critters.  Unfortunately no sun today so they aren't buzzing around.

Nor am I.  This weather is tough on my body.

Good morning....was not able to sign in yesterday..glad to see It working for me this morning...Thanks Michael....I thought I had Janes email...but do not....have a great day

Oncologists's office called about the CT scan  .  No cancer !!  I will see her the end of October for more results .

jane

HURRAH, ALpiner!

Darlene...just click on my name above this post, and you'll get my email.

This site was goofy for the last couple days.  I emailed Michael, and it seems he's got it fixed now.

Ok Jane...thanks..so far able to sign in....I had to go for the big squeeze today...glad that's over for another year...we are having cool mornings but hot afternoons..ALPINER good news on your scan...hi to all looking in

maryz

alpiner and Darlene - glad you got good test results.  Always good for a big "whew!!".

Tennessee weather is so crazy. Prediction is for a high of 68 tomorrow, 72 on Sunday, and then 85 or more on Wednesday.  Then back to around 70 the next weekend. Sigh...

Margaret and I went out to lunch with three of her friends today to celebrate her 65th birthday. The little local Asian-fusion restaurant where we went has such good food, so a special day.

I had my end-of-year video meeting with my financial counselor/manager. She has done such a good job for me since John died. My "portfolio" (sounds SO pretentious) has decreased some this year, as expected, but I'm still doing pretty well, and I'm not in any financial difficulties.  Looking forward to the next increase.

Have a good weekend, Buddies - may your team win!

Saturday morning greetings, Buddies!

Mary...Good news from financial adviser...same news I got...but to be expected in these goofy times.  I'm sure glad someone(s) else takes care of that.

My friend Kathy spent 4 hours in the ER yesterdaY...had a brain scan, ultrasound of her leg, and EKG, but still went out to dinner with me.  I drove since 4 hours for her and Gary would have worn me out.  They're leaving for a 2+ week trip in their RV on Tuesday...to the east coast.  She still doesn't know what's wrong...but she has to hold onto someone to walk.

I had my 5th Covid shot on Friday and just feel a little "funky" today, so doing nothing but reading and watching football.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

patricia19

Jane I had my last booster...for now, on the fourth. This makes 2 shots and three boosters.

In the last thirty days,

I got my flu shot today.  I don't know when they'll bring the #3 Covid booster.

Evening, Buddies...

I'm just getting online.  A Technician has been here, essentially all day...9:30 to 4:30 transferring me to Fiber Optic. Finally he and the people he was talking to at the support finally have it working...and my phone working.  I get my internet through my phone company.

I'm just glad it's finished.  There was no option to not take it.  The telephone company says they're replacing the "copper" wiring, so everyone has to switch.  No charge, though they try to talk you into "for just $30 more a month....." but I know the words NO, thanks.  And I use it. ;D

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Good morning Buddies....just a short post...going to my daughters tomorrow...and she will take me to a Dr appt...still dealing with the right medication...and the last 3 days I have had extreme flushing to my skin....what's up with that.?..,Hope everyone has a great day....

jane

Darlene...hope you get some relief and a med that works for you.

Beautiful day here...windy and clear.

stay safe,

jane

Hi Gals, can't remember when I last posted, but it's been a while. Weather has been gorgeous here except for some spitting rain earlier. Sunny now and 73. Some trees turning. There's a gorgeous red maple outside the Dining Hall window.

Alpiner, so glad to hear the good news. Darlene, you, too. I think mine is coming up before long.

I got my bivalent booster last Thursday. It was my 4th vax because I got Covid right before I was to get 2nd booster last spring and had to wait till now to get one. Glad since it covers some of the variants too. I got my flu shot yesterday here at a clinic. The Covid clinic is later in the month and I didn't want to wait because of my trip to see the baby, so got it at Walgreens. While I was at the shopping center where WG is located, I went to Barnes & Noble to get books for the boys to take with me. I finally found a children's book of Bible stories for the older boy. He's in 2nd grade now, so may be able to read them himself. The other boy, Liam, will be 5 the 20th so I got him 2 books. I'm sure I could have gotten them on Amazon, but I wanted to look at them and choose them better. Nearly killed me walking around so long. I'm used to having a cart when I shop to take the burden off my back, but naturally a book store doesn't have them.

I did the Bulletin for our Sunday church service this morning. Last week, I took a picture of the altar which I used on the cover. Looks nice.

Hope to go to the nursery Sat to get pansies for my balcony box. My petunias have bitten the dust and except for the geranium, the others look pretty sad. I'm trying to get my poinsettia from last Christmas to produce new red bracts by covering it at night. It'll be 6-8 WKS. before they do--if they do.  It was such a pretty potted arrangement last Christmas and I have kept it going ever since. The last red bract just fell off a couple weeks ago.

I'm starting PT again to strengthen my legs and my back. I haven't been very good about walking since Bunny died and now am having to pay with weakness in my legs.

No other news here except that I leave for Lori & Joc's the 21st. Also heard from my bbf from HS & college that her daughter has just been diagnosed with BC!  It never stops.

Take care all.  Sharon

Sharon, I must have missed your posting that you had lost Bunny. I'm so sorry. I know your house feels so empty.

We've got a line of severe weather heading our way. I hope it fizzles out as evening comes on, and it gets nearer to us.

Margaret brought Henry by to see me this morning.  He's such a sweetie! His parents went for her first OB visit this morning, and she is due in early May. Exciting time!

We have a forecast for rather scary weather coming in between four and seven tomorrow morning: the worst being possible tornadoes.  It is most likely, though, that the weather will follow its usual pattern of hitting Washington, D.C. and then heading North towards Baltimore: skipping us here to the East.  Hope so, anyway.  Debi was going to come over at noon to watch  the Hearing with me, but I have told her she may well need to stay home.  We'll see what we get!

We missed the storm once again, having just very overcast skies with off & on again rain, but no winds to speak of.  The bay has had no white caps, though it has been very busy.  I expect those waves come from the storm going north to Delaware and the Susquehanna River.  From Baltimore; not from here.  Yours truly is fully safe & snug.  I see NO signs of storm (scattered tree limbs, etc.) outside.  Not so much as a twig out of place!

jane

Sharon...I, too, missed the passing of Bunny.  I'm sure that leaves a big hole in your family there.  Enjoy your time with the girls.

MaryPage...glad you missed the storms.

I'm watching the hearing now.

Patricia is on her way here to go with me tomorrow to CR for the CT scan and drive me home.  Her "check engine" light came on, so she called ahead and stopped in a town and got it looked at.  They think she may have mistakenly put in E85 gasoline.  She said that was possible, because she was looking at the prices.  They told her to put in her regular gas and it'd dissipate, etc.

It's quite cool...45....and very windy.  Guess fall is here. ;)

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Good morning; 19 degrees at 9:46, and tomorrow is expected to warm up and bring more snow. I've finished my morning lineup of chores and routines, and this is the first day in 68 that I didn't have a paper to read and respond to or a big chore hanging over my head.

I'm almost afraid to trust this relief feeling without something else needing my attention!

Patricia, One of our three local Public Television channels has been showing a series of documentaries featuring Earth's rivers lately.  They are truly Outstanding documentaries, and I feel I can recommend them to Everyone. You learn So Much really fascinating stuff!

They have done three (3) shows so far, and the one this week was about the Yukon.  Wow!  Frozen six (6) months each year!  I loved, loved, loved the film, but I also learned I sure would not be a candidate for living up there!  Cold?  Wowzer!

I was surprised at the numbers of people & other animals living up there, though.  I fell in love with the indigenous peoples showing and speaking of their salmon fishing.  I had not realized those parts were experiencing and suffering from Climate Change so much also.

MaryPage, I live next to five rivers, all of which flow in or out of the Yukon which is close by. Yes, I live in the arctic, but the arctic is also a dry climate with little or no humidity. I froze in southern wet climates.

This morning our low was 12, but many folks were outdoors in hoodies. Plus twelve has a very different feel in a dry versus a wet climate.

That said, I'm so glad you're learning about the Yukon, a river we share with Canada.

Climate change is more prevalent and more obvious in the north. We have gone through so much more compared to the southern regions of the continent.

MaryPage

That Yukon is really amazing!  And it is so very long.  I am still in a state of amazement.
