Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Quote from: Amy on October 27, 2022, 01:56:07 PMPatricia, talked with some folks at the lumber yard and they said they had a bit of snow there and to the north there was some. Nothing here but we do know it is coming.

Phyllis, that is not crabby. Thankfully this last covid shot didn't bother me nor did the flu shot. I wasn't one to get shots but now I do ,can't bring anything home to Kyle. Flu used to knock me off my feet and thankfully I haven't had it since the 70's but best to get the shot.

Chelsea buns are done as is the oatmeal square ,laundry, vacuuming and now I am going to play in the sewing room.

Amy, can I bring my cat and move in with you? I never make anything interesting  it seems.  :-[

Today was a slow day.  Cathy and I went to WM and we were going to get a booster shot for COVID but they were out until next week so we just did our shopping and went home!  I didn't do much for the rest of the day...a lot of reading and a little cooking!  Now I'm ready to close up and go to bed.  I might read another chapter before I hit the hay!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning...

We are back into normal weather for this time of year ,temp is 26° at the moment.

Off to the grocery store this morning to use up my air miles points before they discontinue using them at the store.  Will see what I can get for the point owing. Works out to $70.00 that I don't have to pay for so the pantry will get a boost. The way the groceries are taking a hugh price hike every bit helps. Heard on the news that Shell  made a profit........not in the millions but Billions and the gas keeps going up!!

Jane, if we don't stop enjoying your cole slaw I am going to have to do more to get us through the winter!! Polished off another jar last night.

Patricia, lots of room and the snow would be no problem for you here.

Jenny, where did you go???

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 35º here right now.  Didn't quite make it to freezing overnight....only 33!  And heading for a high of 58 today.  I don't have Cooper today so I don't have to go outside unless I accumulate some garbage or need a walk or the birds eat all their food.

I have my second load of laundry in the washer.  The first load is the bed sheets and they're drying while the towels wash.  I also cooked some apple wedgies for my breakfast and I'm eating them right now.  I love apples and have discovered that this face thing that the drs gave me won't let me eat apples so the cooked wedgies are my replacement!

AMY, I'm keeping up with you on the cole slaw.  It's so easy to grab one of those jars when I need a fill in for a meal!  I might have to make more myself!

Dryer stopped!  Time to remake the bed and put the towels in the dryer.  Rugs are next and that means washing up the floors while the rugs are gone!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow

I slept good last night and my arms aren't sore so I'm in a better mood today than I was yesterday.  It is chilly outside and the sun is in and out but it isn't a bad day.  Typical fall weather.  David will go pick up groceries in a little while and that chore will be taken care of for the week.  Nothing else planned except to take delivery of new wheel chair this afternoon. We will see how smoothly that goes.

Take care, All.

Phyllis, what do you do with the old one? Here we  cannot keep the old but have to exchange with the new and pay for the extra difference.

This is my first wheel chair, Bubble, so don't have an old one to get rid of.  I sometimes see them for sale or for donation in our Next Door Neighborhood web site,  I've put off getting one for a long time because I could use the Rollator but that is OK in the house but not as good if I go out to an appointment where I might have to walk quite a distance.  I get very tired quickly now.  Is your's electric or manual?.  David says he can push me without any problem.  We'll see how it goes.

Mine is manual because it is better inside the house and also because I need the arms exercise. Outside, my 24/7  carer helps me when I get tired (which is very fast)

Good morning from the Interior, where it's clear, zero degrees, colder, and no snow expected past this coming week. This is that time of year when you want it to stay cloudy, to hold in the heat. The only snow we've had is more of an icy frost which is more  what we used to have in November.

Hello Everyfriend!  This was a busy day...laundry, bed changing, cooking, washing dishes, drying them and putting them away, cleaning bathrooms, and making a batch of "Jim's Egg Thingys" (J.E.Ts) Then I sat and read a couple chapters of my library book.

I got a "thank you" picture and note from EMMA for their Halloween card and ice cream treat that I sent because I couldn't go and they couldn't come!  It's on the office wall where I can see it when I look away from the screen to rest my eyes. (AMY's up there, too)

I enjoyed the conversations about the wheel chairs.  I never realized there were so many kinds available!  They make it easier to get around, don't they!

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one!

P.S.  Almost forgot...I had SHIRLEY's Taco Soup for supper!  It was good...as usual!

Now, JaneS, you often mention reading, but somehow you never seem to tell us the Title of the book.  There is a Library section here in S&F, you could post there or let us know in Soda Shoppe.  Being an avid reader, it is part of my genetic makeup to inquire what someone is reading! I even do that in the doctors office..."what are you reading", is it any good? Do you like the author's style?
So, Ms. JaneS, let's hear what you read, even if it puts you to sleep! ;)

Good Morning Everyfriend...and especially Tomereader (whose name says it all!)  I've been a avid reader all my life.  We lived in South Williamsport when I was growing up and the nearest library was on the other side of the river in Williamsport.  Saturday morning, my sister and I would walk across the bridge and be on the library steps when the librarian arrived to open the doors.  We spent most of the morning there and then walked back home loaded down with books to read that week.  I'm still a library fan and so is my daughter who is my ride now.  When I was 12 we moved to Lewisburg and HALLELIJUH!!  The library was right up around the corner!!!

I currently haunt the "Large-Print" section and I discovered a while back that they have a lot of Jack Higgins spy stories!  Right now, I'm working my way through them.  I'm a fan of mysteries, spies and war stories but I like almost anything.  And if someone tells me they're reading a good book, I look for it in the Large-Print section.  I've tried reading the regular print ones but I can't read for as long on those books and it takes me a lot longer.  Right now, I'm almost finished with a book called "Bad Company".

Now I have to watch out for Cooper's arrival.  I'm not sure if Frankie is working this weekend.  She forgot to tell me.  Other than that, my day is my own.  I wish you all a good one...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning...

Tad chilly here with a temp of 22° but it will warm up some.  Laundry day here and finish up purging cupboards and drawers.

When our friend was staying with us , he also has a wheelchair for when we went to appointments. One that he could move by his hands, his case worker say me tryin g to lift and put it in the vehicle and said that was not good...you need a transport one. Had no idea of what she meant but when it came, what a joy it was to lift  and put away, no big wheels on it, light in weight and easy to push! He could use the rollator in the house easy.

Jane, you're beside me on the wall when I am at my desk. :smitten:

Time to get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Just stopped by to tell AMY that I made her Oatmeal Cookie Bars that she posted over in recipes and right now I'm eating one while I have my second cup of coffee for the day.  The are UM-UM-GOOD!  and I think I'll probably have another one before I'm finished....maybe 2 more!

Jane, I made them also and found them a bit dry...maybe next time I will put some applesauce in it also??? Over half the pan is gone so they can't be too bad. :))

edited to add: Just came in from taking laundry off the line and guess who I caught in the squares!!!

The other night Kyle asked, what can you do for a dry ,scratchy throat? Well, flu ,colds and covid is running rampid here and I thought oh noooooo. Told him to gargle with warm salt water while I was thinking of "other" meds he could take. Looked over at him,saw the sparkle in his eyes and the grin starting to form and I knew I had beed had!!!  I asked him if he would like some ice cream..... round about way of asking the stinker.. :2funny:

My squares are definitely NOT dry!  I followed the recipe exactly. All around the edge they are well done but not dry.  The rest is moist and tasty.  I gave some to Frankie when she picked up Cooper and I'll see what she says about them tomorrow. AMY, It's sounds like Kyle doesn't think your baking is dry!  Or else he likes it that way!

I kept my porch light on for any Trick or Treaters that might be out but I didn't get even one.  I'm thinking that out here in the Country, they might be coming tomorrow!  Tonight was the assigned night in town and I'm sure it was busy there but out here, we're not so particular.

I'm just about ready for the haystack.  It was a beautiful day today and Cooper and I did a lot of walking!  Now I'm ready to quit!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one.

I really reversed my nights & days this last 24 hours... only a couple hours sleep last night but slept off & on most of the day. Now I'm having trouble thinking tomorrow is "church day" and I skipped Saturday.  ::)

Jane, I quit opening the door for Trick or Treaters a couple years ago, even the little ones that come out before dark with Mom & Dad waiting on the street, I just hide out. We started getting grown ups carrying babies that for sure were NOT going to be eating the candy & before I could shut the door some full grown young or older men would show up & I was left with the door open to strangers mercy. Not a comfortable feeling. I just turn off lights & go to the basement to watch TV & hope if any damage the security cameras will catch them! From what I hear, they will do the walk & knocks on the doors next Monday here. Stay safe!

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless. I am ready for coleslaw, please!  Haven't made any for quite a while.

Amy

Good morning...

Starting off at 36° this morning. A day of rest here..hope to play in my sewing room.

We don't get trick or treaters living out here in the country. They like to head to town where houses are closer together.

Putting some of Jane's colw slaw in the hidey hole for Shirley..

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

I'm up and had my breakfast and will be getting ready for church in a bit. It made it below freezing last night and it's still only up to 29º this morning!  But they say it's heading for a high of 68 today.  Quite a difference and definitely Fall weather.

Cathy is refinishing a chest that my dad made for her back when she graduated from college and started saving stuff for later.  She's really doing a fabulous job and I'm sure he's watching her with pride in his eyes and his heart!

Cooper will be here when I get home from church and Frankie said she might spend the night tonight since she'll be late getting home and early leaving in the morning.  I like it when she does that.  I have someone to talk to and a doggy to sleep with me!

Not much on the agenda for today.  TOMEREADER, I finished my library book and started the next one.  This is a Jack Higgins one, too but a different set of spies!  I'll probably end up reading a lot of the day!

SHIRLEY, I hope your days get straightened out and you get to enjoy some cole slaw toda!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning; I'm getting another late start this morning. It's minus four out there and mostly cloudy at 8:18 am. Our high will only be plus eleven today, and it's not going to warm up any until Wednesday at the earliest. I've had my morning coffee, participated in my calls and texts, and Farrah's been fed.

I've only got small generalities to tend to today and three important calls to make on Monday, so the coming week is clear.

JaneS

Well, Frankie didn't spend the night but she left Cooper to stay over with me!  So I have a bedfellow in my bed tonight.  I think he already went there.  And I'm on the way!  I had the kids down the street halloweening tonight and I loved it!

Now I'm off to the haystack as soon as I get set up for the morning!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every onew!

Happy Hall🎃ween Eve.

We had Sunday Dinner with Dr. Dave and family then enjoyed watching the kiddos carve their pumpkins 🎃 We all enjoyed our time together very much.

Yesterday we spent time with our other two Colorado Grands.  We are feeling pretty blessed to have this fun two days in a row🦋🦋

AMY, thank you for "asking for me"‼️  I did try a few times to get in and was not able to, but that is no excuse for not showing up once in awhile😩😤.

SHIRLEY, very concerned to read the latest news regarding your health. Positive thoughts and prayers heading your way.

CALLIE, what wonderful news you have shared regarding Mandi's results.  Thanks be to God for this good news.

Doctoring, keto dieting etc. have had me not in the best frame of mind recently, but I am trying my best to concentrate on only the positive things.  We will get out of here in another week and hopefully I can leave my blues behind!  No doctor appointments, no oxygen needed I am beginning to smile already🥰🥰🥰

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND 🥰
