Good Sunday morning greetings!

Our snow is almost all gone, thanks to some very warm days...but it's still in the mid 30s most days and wind.

Good to see Sherry posting and thanks for info on Marilyn.  Losing Freckles will be very hard on her.  Congrats on new addition to the family!

Nothing new with me.  I hope everyone is avoid Covid and the respiratory stuff going around here.

Stay safe and let us know you're ok..

Hi, Buddies!  It's been lovely, typical weather here - sunny, temps in the 50s and 60s.
 Definitely winter weather we like.

I saw the cardiologist last Friday for my regular visit.  She made a few changes - discontinued one of my diuretics (YEA!!).  My feet and legs have been staying swollen, so she had me start wearing support stockings. Not my favorite, but not awful. I have to have one of the RAs here put them on for me in the mornings. I got them off by myself the first night, but had to have help the next. Oh, well - that's why I'm living here. I go back for a recheck on the 29th.

I hope everybody is doing well.

Good Morning, MaryZ.  Although worrisome at times, these support stockings are a great help for swollen feet and legs.Thank goodness I can still manage to get mine on and off! It's good that you have an RA to help you.  Have a good day, stay warm, stay safe.

so_P_bubble

Neither can I get these support stockings on or off and I don't see any difference for the swollen feet and legs. The only thing I am grateful for is that they keep me warmer in winter.
My caregiver finds that they are good for exercising: he bends a knee to the floor to help get them on me!

Reach down inside the sock and grab the heel, pull inside out.  Fit the foot of the sock to your foot and pull over your heel.  Take hold of the top of the sock and pull up toward your knee,  Smooth out any wrinkles and position the top of the sock about 2 inches below your knee.  This works best for me.

I too have had my bouts of swollen ankles and foot ( oedema ) plus red, painful swollen legs ( cellulitis ) on both occasions antibiotic -penicillin sorted it out...No fun when you cant get any pairs of shoes on...I have never been prescribed with support stockings...With leg swelling we have to be careful of Deep Vein Thrombosis, i was taken to hospital when a home visit Doctor called for an ambulance a few months ago assuming that was what i had, thankfully it wasn't..

maryz

I retain fluid in my feet and lower legs from COPD and CHF, and also take a diuretic. The stockings are definitely helping. I have more ordered that, I think, have slightly less "firmness". Hopefully they will be easier to get on, and work just as well.  Good luck to us all with swollen feet (and issues finding which shoes to wear each day).

Good Wednesday morning, Everybody!

Great advice/ideas on compression socks.  Thanks.

Nothing new here...suppose to have rain tomorrow so I think I'll devote that day to trying to sort out what papers I have now for the income tax lady.  This year I pay no State Income tax on my retirement dollars.  HURRAH!

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

MaryZ, I have purchased and tried several brands of the compression socks.  Two or three on-line, but my favorites are two pair that I bought at Walmart. Some on-line reviewers said they were "worthless" but I have used these pairs daily for upward of two/three years, and they have not stretched out, developed holes, etc.  Oh, these are Dr. Scholl's brand, their pattern and color selection is not the greatest, but I "LOVE" mine.  One pair is gray with pink, the other is gray with Navy.  I need to get back to WM but it is a major hassle, as it is one of their bigger stores; plenty of parking, but usually none close up, always full of mommas with screaming (untrained) children.  I'll get up there one of these days to buy replacements for the two pair I can't seem to wear-out! I just wash them in cold, hang to dry, that may be the good preservative for why they've lasted. Also, these are Not silky like hosiery, which are cold in winter and darn hot in summertime.  These must have a good deal of cotton fibers in, and to me they are comfortable winter or summer.

In the Spring of 2023, the local Walmart Super Center decided to try an experiment. They tore out the majority of cashier sections, and now they have three human manned cashier registers and the rest are self-service.  A girl who works there says sales have diminished, and they blamed a large Costco coming in and decided to do more layoffs.

Interestingly, a similar sized Kroger Fred Meyers, directly across from Walmart, hired some of the discarded sales personnel because since early 2023, they've had an upsurge in sales. They have four self - serves, and the rest are staffed.

Hmmm...I wonder why that is?

maryz

Tome, have you tried the WalMart pick-up?  I didn't go IN a WalMart for several years before I left Chattanooga. I ordered online, and then picked my order up at a designated time and place - never got out of the car.  Of course, there's always ordering from WM online and having it sent to you.  Several choices.  Glad you found some that work!

Get Well Soon, Cotton Candy!  I have a neighbor whose adult daughter got this flu/RSV, and is still in hospital.  Feeling terrible and whatever treatments she was getting, apparently not working.  You all take care now; take all your meds, rest, and be careful where you go.

jane

Good grief, Darlene.  The flu is nasty.  There is suppose to be a lot of it here, but I don't get out much, so have escaped.

Mary, I like the curbside pickup, too, esp. when it's so cold or very hot.

I hope MaryPage is well.  I haven't seen her here lately, but I haven't been regular, either. :-\  :( k

Take care and stay well,

Jane

Cottoncandy

Jane sorry to read you are sick too..I've finished my AB..feeling better...I have a bad ear that I think still has some inflammation...feels full and occasionally painful...we are expecting a light freeze tonight...then warm next week...Hi to all looking in...take care

jane

Darlene...hope that ear clears up.

Nothing exciting or even interesting here.  It's gotten amazingly warm for Feb.  58 right now.  I think I'll go put on some walking shoes and hit the sidewalk for a short walk.

Stay safe, everybuddy, and keep well,

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, I'm sorry to hear some of you are sick and others with swollen legs & ankles. The dr has me on a diuretic for my CHF, but I don't seem to have a problem with swelling, thank goodness. The compression socks sound awful. I have some that I wear on the plane, but last time I couldn't get them on.

No big news here. I've had a really busy week this past week. Two different council meetings, a resident's meeting, 2 days of bridge, and had to finish the newsletter in between, but it's ready to have the proofs printed tomorrow.

The baby is doing well and the mama liked the gifts I sent, and Ceci, the 2 yr old loved the stuffed kitten I sent her at the same time.

Renovations are all but finished in our club house now. They are working on the final punch list.  Unfortunately, they are going to start replacing our auditorium ceiling and the pipes above it that have leaked, so we will have to have church in a small room nearby. Too small for a piano, so they are going to provide us with a keyboard. We still haven't found a permanent new pastor. Lots of different ones filling in.

Good luck, Darlene and Jane with your colds. I hope they heal quickly. Jane, how are you doing on the cancer scene? You are on my prayer list.

Take care of all of you.
Sherry

jane

Sherry....good to see your post.

My cancer maintenance treatments start again on Friday.  I'll have three over 3 weeks this term.

It's been incredibly warm here....70 earlier today!  We're to get a cold surge tomorrow and then back to this incredible warm temps.

Stay safe and well,

jane

Cottoncandy

Hi everyone..Jane glad you are feeling better...so am I...but still feel a little weak..I did get out and walked yesterday...so hopefully Ican keep on keeping on...Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying life...stay safe and good health

maryz

Always good to hear from folks.  I've been about posting, too.

Our weather has been like jane's - in the 70s for a couple of days, and then we're predicted to have a high in the 40s today.  Back to the 70s by the weekend. It's a wonder we ALL don't have pneumonia.

But all is going well here now. I have an appointment with the cardiologist tomorrow - to recheck lab work (blood drawn on Monday), and how the compression socks are doing. That seems to going well.  The RAs aren't having any trouble getting them on and off for me, and we seem to have gotten a workable schedule.  The socks feel okay during the day.

Y'all stay well and get a good start into March and Spring.

Maryz and Darlene....it is indeed a wonder we aren't all sneezing and coughing.  70 degrees on Monday and 11 this morning when I got up.  Back up tomorrow "they" say.  It's beautifully clear..blue sky and a very cold north wind.  I'm glad I put my garbage bin out to the street last night.

I learned today that my last Sister-in-Law, Irene, who turned 100 last July, passed away last Saturday.  I don't know if there will be any services, etc.  One niece is to call me.

My urology office called me to let me know the office has moved to a new location in the hospital and that I can get one test here tomorrow so I'm ready for my bcg treatment on Friday at the hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Nothing else new here.  I'm watching Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias on Netflix.  I'd gotten behind, but now that football season is over, I can catch up.

Take care and stay healthy, all of our Buddies!

Hi to all and any reading...I went to church this morning...but didn't do the hand shaking...don't want another virus..but I am having some trouble with Psoriasis...I have such dry skin...do any of you know what helps get rid of that..I read on line about some home remedies..the weather is in the 70ts today and March winds...hope ever is having a great day of rest....take care

jane

Tuesday is bright and sunny after a storm last night.  It's 52 and the wind still has a bite to it.

Has anyone heard from MaryPage?  I hope she's well.

Darlene...good idea to forego the handshaking.  I personally don't like that custom...too many germs spread around.

I got out for a haircut and picked up a prescription and then a library book that they were holding for me at the Library.

That's all my news for now,

jane

maryz

I, too, got out for my mani/pedi and haircut yesterday.  Surely does feel good.

I won't say it's Spring yet, but it's getting there.  Our flower trees (Bradford pear, pink magnolia, etc.) are almost in full bloom - complete with accompanying pollen. Daffodils, forsythia, flowering quince, etc, are going strong, too.  It is lovely - if sneezy.  Rainy all this week, but no storms, and mild temps.  All in all, it is a good season here.

Hope your basketball team does well.

Has anyone heard from Mary Page? It has been awhile since she posted.

Marilyne

Mary Page  left a message in Norm's Bait and Tackle, about a week ago. She posts messages there every couple of weeks.  :)
