Good morning from a warm Interior at 8:02 and 29 degrees. Yesterday we had a high of 58 and today will hit our first plus 60 of the year. Also, yesterday, I was out early for two back to back, check in, business appointments and was glad to have them finished, at least for this quarter.

Correction: Evidently we will not hit our first sixty degrees today or manage to get out of the fifties until early May. I do hope they're wrong again.

Nothing planned for today, other than some laundry and watering my plants. I want to get a few new ones, but since it's illegal to sell any seeds or live plants not certified as grown in the state, I'll have to wait until June at least. The state is very strict about bringing in any alien animals or plant species to protect its habitat.

Probably our last local aurora shots of the seasons, taken by a local photographer.

Patricia, that is just beautiful!!

In and back home in good time, now Kyle with have a rheumatologist!! The visit will be done at the hospital via satellite.  On the way into the city I noticed too many bunnies flattened on the road :( I see that the osprey are back and on their nests.  Next will be those darn skeeters and blackflies.
Had a nice interuption...neighbour popped over to let the dogs out again and stayed for tea.
then poppped into town to get gas for lawnmower and generator...our gas is to go up tonight.  :tickedoff:

How much is your gas?  $3.49 for regular and much higher for the other two. Diesel is off the charts, and I feel sorry for the truckers.

MarsGal

Depends on the gas station, Joanne. I happen to be near three on one intersection. Turkey Hill was at $3.69 and Weis was $3.68 when I went by the other morning. When I came back home, Weis had raised their price to $3.69. Sheetz, catty-corner, across the street was something like $3.74. Today is is up to $3.79. Giant Food Store up the street a little is at $3.69 today. I would have thought that with all the business that Sheetz does, their gas prices would be lower. However, it could be that with all the business they do, they have to fill the underground tanks more often than the others and are the first to get stuck with higher prices.

We were supposed to get some more rain today. All I saw, felt more-like, was a few spritzes. Temp just now is at 66o.

JaneS

PATRICIA, those pictures are absolutely gorgeous!  It makes me wish I could be there to see them for real!

I haven't checked the gas prices around here.  It seems when one doesn't drive, those prices don't catch the eye!  I'll have to check it the next time I'm out!

I did a lot of cooking today.  Supper was meat loaf, scalloped potatoes and baked beans and it tasted so good.  I also made up some cheesy sweet potato chunks and I have some meat put aside to do the meat recipe that I got from here!  I'll make that up tomorrow and then put together some dinners to freeze and eat while I finish getting ready for my trip.  Also have to clean out the freezer in the kitchen.

I haeady for the haystack early tonight.  I wore myself out just doing "stuff".  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  I don't have Cooper tomorrow but Frankie said she might be over to give him a bath and then leave him here while she hits the grocery store!  I'll be by in the morning!  Take care of you and yours!

Good Morning Anyone!  I'm off for my Cooper-less walk.  I'll try to check you out when I get back.  It depends on "stuff" whether I do that early or later!  Make your day a good one!  I plan to do that!

Good morning..
Rain during the nighht and it is still misting rain. While out this morning Jesse put the run on another escaped chicken! I did try to catch her but she went through to the neighbours at the back and home is right beside .

Now those that made my mouth water with your delicious meal I am going to put a roast of beef  with potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions and let it slow roast.

Tome, our gas was to go up last night by .14 - .18 cents a litre....making it 6.67 to 6.80. Will know if it did later on today. They are switiching to summer gas so they say. More like hosing those that like to take a vaction or just a drive in the country.

Jane, meatloaf sandwich with slices of this onion!! Sounds good to me. :)

Better go see if that hen made it home..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good late morning here. Had to pick my son up at the gas station - time for the annual inspection. I woke at 7:00 to the sound of a jack hammer and trucks. Seems they picked today to raise the sewer caps in prep of paving. Would have been nice if they warned us in advance.  Spring rains prevail.

Good morning everyone, 43 degrees and cloudy today and one planned for a day of rest.

Rick, hopefully they will be able to finish quickly.

Amy, both you and Jesse got your exercise in this morning! Perhaps the neighbors might want to take another look at their coop. When we visited my grandparents in Colorado, they would send me out at seven years, to gather eggs. I quickly learned to wear gloves, nasty things.

Then I would help grandpa bring the milk cans in to the still room. At seven, all my plans centered on becoming a farmer. After all, what other job offered breaks where you could swing on a fence gate, left to a cherry tree and right to a peach tree.

Jane, I hope you enjoyed your walk even without Cooper.

Now to see what is going on in the world via my computer.

RAMMEL

By mid-morning the noise stopped. They brought a cutter/saw thing that cuts a perfect circle around the old sewer caps. No need for jack hammer. So much less noise. Interesting operation.

HELLO!  I'm heading for the haystack!  I've been moving all day.  I did the last laundry that I'm going to do (Ithink) until I come back from the west.  This morning I actually started to pack my suitcase and I packed a box of stuff that I know won't fit in the suitcase and Cathy took it to UPS to send it to Cindy and Jim.  It's a kind of pretzels and chips that we can only get here and that they really love and miss.

I folded all the clothes and added some to the pile in the extra bedroom and I'll continue packing the rest of this week and all of next week.

Frankie came over and gave Cooper a bath and then she went to the grocery store and Cooper and I took a walk.  Cathy also came and got my store list and took off for the store and brought back some stuff I needed and mailed my box to Cindy!  I'm getting there.  I even had a good supper tonight...leftover meat loaf, scalloped potatoes and beans!

Now I'm heading for the haystack!  I'm tired right down to my toe nails!  And who in the world wants to deal with tired toe nails!!  Good night Everyfriend!  I'll see you all tomorrow.  I wish you a peaceful night, nice weather and a happy tomorrow!  HAPPY SPRING!

Good morning..

So far no rain but they are calling for it today. We have been out a listened to the birds waking up and crow scolding me for not having his treat out.
Not sure what is going to happen today but know not all will be done.

Babe now likes her meals in bed (her bed) and now she also likes to be hand fed so I do that for her. Nothing to start your morning off than to dip your fingers into kibble, liver and cut up hearts with the juice, but it works!

Picking up a parcel at the post office and meds for Kyle today..

Rick ,hope the noice has stopped and life gets back to normal on your street.

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Patricia, I forgot to ask. Did your Grandpa have cats lined up when milking the cows?  Our cat would sit over by the barn wall and I would squirt a stream of milk at her.

Good Morning AMY and anyone else who pops in.

I'm up, dressed and had breakfast

Cooper arrived, took me for a walk, ate his breakfast and is sitting by the door to go out in the yard.

Our day is on the way!   AMY, it sounds like you little friend prefers "breakfast in bed".  We really do end up pmpering them, don't we.  It's so hard to see them losing energy.  But they never lose the love for their people!

I'll be adding a bit more to my suitcase today and maybe getting another box ready to mail.  I guess we shall see.  Enjoy you day.  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with us!

Good morning, 42 degrees at nine forty and a sunny day out there. Nothing planned today other than staying in as I'm waiting on two packages for a neighbor who had an appointment today.

The snow is almost totally gone, It's reached the stage where people spread the bits out, so it melts faster. My meet and greets are fine and Farrah has taken to laying about on her back with all four paws in the air, when she's not kibble nibbling, so she's fine.

I only have watering plants and kitty litter today, so other than package wrangling, it's another lazy day.

Amy, I don't recall any cats with my Colorado grandparents, but there were several barn cats at my Missourian grandparents. Missouri was hogs and corn with a cow or two and in Colorado it was grain, milk cows, a mule, and crops. Or at least as I remember them.

Jane, you will be all ready at the end of the month for travel, I'm hoping that you and Callie get to visit this time. Does Frankie have a Cooper substitute nanny arranged?

JaneS

Well I'm going to have Cooper tomorrow at 5:45 since Frankie has to be at work at 6 a.m. so I'm heading off to the haystack as soon as I finish here.

PATRICIA, she does have someone who will be coming over 2 times a day and walking Cooper.  I think it's a relative of the couple who live in the apartment downstairs from her.  She's done it before so she can be trusted.  And I think the guy sometimes takes him down to his apartment.

I got a bit more packing done today and I got some winter stuff put away and some summer stuff out of boxes and into drawers.  And I have enough dinners frozen that I'll one a day until I leave and one left over for when I come home.  And the yard guy was here for the first time this summer and we made arrangements for while I'm gone and he did the yard for the first time this summer!  It looks good!

Tomorrow is another day!  I'm heading out of here and back the hall now.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  And PLEASE come by tomorrow.  We miss you all!

Greetings everyone!

The house was settled on Thursday. My sister and I are going to celebrate this weekend, and we may stop by the garden center. I may buy some new hand tools, a bag of potting soil and a few plants. I don't want to go whole-hog just yet though. On my tiny patch there is a variegated leafed Hosta and two, it looks like, mini chrysanthemums. You can bet I will be leaving some room for daffodils in the fall. The patch is mostly in the shade but is getting more sun now that the sun is up longer. The sun does not reach my porch until around 2pm. So, shade plants it is. Lots of squirrels and birds around including a woodpecker; I haven't seen it, but I hear it pecking away on or near a very tall cherry tree. Lots of sparrows and some blue jays.

I nearly had a heart attack yesterday. Looking out my back room window, I saw a large, very fluffy yellow cat walking down along the wood-line. I went scampering to see if Shan had gotten out somehow. There he was sound asleep on his favorite chair. Relief! The wood patch is between the apartments and Bethany Village. Not very wide, it is however, thick enough to act as a barrier to most lighting from that area and the sounds from the nearby highway. At some point I want to wander over to the other side of the parking lot to check out the two shrubs/trees that someone planted recently with care. They are surrounded with mulch and ringed with rocks. Whoever it was, they seem to have left a very large pot nearby. Wonder why they didn't take it with them. There is a large patch of grassy area between the curving wood-line, the parking lot and a short alleyway. Excepting for the cat and a black companion cat, I have not seen any other critters. According to the topo map there is a stream between the apartments and the highway.

Well, it looks like it is time to get some breakfast and then I have several more boxes to break down for the recycle bin and some home cleaning to do.

Wishing you all a great day.

Amy

Good morning..

We may see sun today! Rain is much needed but nice to see the sun poke through.

Need to pick up a few essentials at the grocery stroe then home to??  You know that saying the hurrier I go the behinder I get? I just try to keep the dust  kangaroos  at bay.

Babe likes to  get her breakfast and supper in her bed but now she also likes to be hand fed after she has picked out the liver and hearts out of the kibble.

Jane, did you complete all your packing?

MG,nice to have the house settled. I don't know about your housing market but ours here has gone crazy! Some homes are only on the market a few days and are sold and for BIG money!

Patricia, I think owning a mule would be fun!!

Rick ,are the street repairs all done now?

Better get the day started.

Enjoy your day and stay safe...

Good Morning again.  Cooper is all taken care of and he'll be staying overnight tonight.  Right now he's resting up on all his activities.

AMY, if my packing goes as usual, I'll be finished as I walk out the door and climb into the car to go to Christy's.  DIL Sarah will be driving me down and I'm not sure yet if it will be Sunday night or Monday morning.  I think she has a friend in that area and she will also do a visit.

I'm off to the nether regions of the house to see what else I can put in the suitcase.  I've just about decided what I'm wearing on the flight and that's on a hanger on the doorknob.  You all have a good day in every way!

The manhole cover job seems to be done, but it is done too well to be prep for repaving.  So the mystery remains. Yesterday morning three large Verizon trucks were parked just outside. I was sure they would start doing something, but an hour later they vanished.
To add to my fun, the night before last a package was delivered to my front porch - from Petco. I have no pets. Checked it out and it was crickets. Contacted my immediate neighbors and none claimed to have ordered them. Maybe the birds would enjoy them.

Good Saturday morning!  Remember me??  ;D

My fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis have been bothering both shoulders from my neck to my elbows and I just haven't felt like doing much.  Have managed to take care of necessities (laundry, meals, bathing etc.) but have spent most of my time in recliner either reading e-books or sleeping.

I can order groceries on-line and have them delivered.  "Favorite shopper" usually picks up my order and, although I don't know her last name and she doesn't know mine, we have become good friends.  She automatically offers to open lids of things I can't manage.

I'm not driving and sons are good about helping with errands. Sometimes I go with them and either we go through drive-up or I sit in car while they go in.
Thank goodness for texting and slow cookers!!!!

Janie, I'm not sure I'll feel like having you come over while you're here.  Surely, the weather will eventually stop bouncing from near freezing to mid-summer and I'll feel more like entertaining.  Let's keep in touch via personal messages.

Rammel, we've been told to expect an infestation of crickets and locusts this summer.  Don't think they'll be from Petco, though.  :D

Marsgal, we've had feral cats "stalking" bird feeders and messing up flower beds - mainly because a neighbor insisted on keeping her garage door cracked open so they'd have a place to sleep.  She moved and other neighbors finally caught all of them and turned them loose way out in the country. Hope they don't find their way back.

Patricia, good to read that your meet & greet bunch are still active. I understand the shrinking of group due to various aging issues.  I rarely hear from the friends that are left and I'm tired of instigating calls/texts. I consider friendship a 2-way street and, if there's no traffic coming in my direction, I just pull over and park.  Probably not a good idea but....

My pets growing up were mostly strays that wandered into our yard - not allowed in house. Never had a house pet until my kids were old enough to have a pup.
We did have a few milk cows and I learned to milk them but could never hit the cats' mouths.

That's all that's happening in my little part of the world.

patricia19

Good morning, 32 degrees presently and contrary to expectations, we did hit the early sixties yesterday afternoon. My neighbor got her two packages and I watered my plants. This morning, I'm awaiting my vegetables from my Food is Medicine delivery and finished early chores and my meet and greets.

Callie, our meet and greets group, is a treasure. Since no one is driving anymore, and we've lost several due to Covid, aging and stateside moves, the remaining nine, are family and close-knit. One of the two remaining single guys, recently moved into a care facility and says he never realized how much friends meant after looking at some of the other guys in the facility.

I agree with you about the two-way street and parking.

Amy, the next time David razzes you about the weather, claim to be making plans to move in with him when future needs must.

Jane, you seem prepared, leaving no detail undone for your Oklahoma visit.

Rick, this summer is the tenth year of a ten-year citywide road improvement plan and the last overpass is due to be finished just outside our neighborhood. This means each four-lane highway through town will now have one or more overpasses, and the rivers running through town have had banks reinforced and bridges redone or refurbished and roads widened. Not to mention new utility poles, sidewalks redone and new lanes added to some roads without.

So the actual city center will be the only remaining two - lane area, and the majority of rebuilds will continue on the outskirts. This will require building up into the foothills as the only remaining side, south, has a number of river crossings.

I don't think anyone will miss all the noise, reroutes, and mess of those long summer constructions.

I'm looking about, planning to hire some part-time housekeeping, but there is a large gap between what is advertised for part-time and what I can afford to pay. Not only that, but I feel like the guy in the Burl Ives song, "Mr In between," remember that one?
