I cannot remember the last time I was on a bicycle,  Probably about  13 years old we moved about that time and I don't remember seeing it after we moved.,

Mary Ann

MarsGal, I haven't ridden a bike in years and would not attempt it now.  That last time I was very wobbly and tried it on a quiet street near Norm's.

Larry, I think we were talking about two different golf games yesterday.  I know I saw three of them at various times.  The one I watched at first was at Flourtown PA and it was very windy and scores were low.  The wind is still there today and Bernhard Langer is ahead with a -1 and he is the only one in negative numbers; everyone else is even or +1 or more.  And in golf, that is not good!  The game you saw was in Memphis TN and Daniel Berger was ahead with -10.  It was delayed by rain and I am not sure it's started up again.  They just announced  play is still suspended.  I have the Flourtown game on now.

Tom just came home from somewhere and he had told me he'd be here for supper.  I wonder what he will choose; he went to the store a couple of days ago so we do have things to eat.

Mary Ann

JeanneP

To hot here to eat much of anything.  I ate a good lunch and so doubt I will fix anything for Dinner.  I need to go out in this 94 deg in order to go to library and out of Milk and a few things and so grocery store will need a visit also.  Then back home and that is it for me.
Hope it cools down some soon.

Well, one of the young eagles back in the next. Cleaning it up.  Must be a female. Someone has to do it she is thinking. Guess they were 11 Weeks old.  it has gone again now but both are up in the Trees. Bet its cooler there. Wonder where Dad and Mum got to

Larry, just wanted to thank you for the idea of the neck pillow.  Took a nap this afternoon and used my neck pillow and my neck is 65 percent better.  You can bet it will stay in my bed  now.

Mary Ann

It's almost my bedtime (10 pm) but I rarely get to bed that early.  Usually Tom is either out or already downstairs but tonight he he's home for the night.  I don't worry when he's out, but I feel better when he's home.  I like having someone else here.

Temperature-wise, it's been a nice day and our temp at present is 65 degrees - good sleeping weather.  I have nothing in particular planned for Monday so I'll just see what happens.

Hi everyone.  Another clear and hot day but not suppose to be as hot as yesterday when it got up to about 100 degrees.

Yesterday after church we went by Firehouse Subs and Pat waited in the car to keep it cool while I went in to get a sub for our lunch.  When we got home we found the sub wasn't the one I ordered but it was still very good and made a good lunch.  They were training someone new on the order station and we all have to learn.  Today should be a pretty quiet day as only thing I have on the schedule is to attend my regular Monday Noon meeting.

MaryPage, that sounds like an almost full time job keeping up with all those birthdays and sending cards.  However, I know it is a labor of love for a very fine family.

Patricia, thanks for the info on the Coneflowers. I have to admit I am totally in the dark about what I was going to email you on.  My for-getter is becoming more active day by day.  I did not intentionally not write and have looked back aways on the postings and didn't find a reference to it.  Sorry.

MarsGal, I have used a lawn service for quite a number of years and it has been worth all I have paid for it.  I also don't lift things that are heavy or if I do it is only for a few seconds.  It doesn't take much to leave me breathless and very tired.  I hope you will take your doctor's advice and seek someone to help you with those heavy jobs.  After my first heart surgery many years ago I bought a bicycle and rode it a few times but just wasn't up to it and eventually gave it to my son.

Mary Ann, I was watching the golf match that was rained delayed for over three hours.  Unfortuantely, CBS ended their coverage at 6 pm for other programming.  I just checked and see that William McGirt ended up winning the 1.53 million dollar as he finished first.  The article says that was his first PGA Tour victory in 165 tries.  He proves that one should never give up on their dreams.

Don, not sure my helpful hints are always very helpful.  However, if I can help someone I like to do so.

Joan, I did a quick search and looked at the Victory motorcycles.  They look very study and I hope the one you son bought will give him countless hours of trouble free riding.  Glad the neck pillow helped your pain.

Mary Ann

Larry, it was funny with one of the golf tours because it started out on the Golf Channel, went to CBS and ended up on CNBC.  CNBC doesn't have HD here, so the players "gained" weight (people are wider when there is no HD for a particular channel).  And that game was unusual in that Langer won with a +1 score, I think a record.  The previous record was -7.  This is the game that was in Flourtown PA, near Philly.

I have nothing on my agenda today, however, I am going to try to retrieve my quicken records and transfer them to my W-7 computer.  From the date, it looks as if I'll have a couple weeks of entries.  It is something constructive to do for a change.

We are expecting a hot one today.

Mary Ann

Thanks Larry.    I feel better about son's trip in Aug. now too.   They are all traveling in a convoy so they will be there to help each other, but knowing his bike is new help relieve my mind some.

There is a large ship parked at Grand Haven! I have never seen that before! It was all the way to the red cylinder building past the red house, and some tugboats pulled it back out and it left in a matter of moments.

Back to normal, another rainy day, Farrah is fine and life goes on. Yesterday, it was funny when I was reading on the couch and she lay watching me from the other end. I laid my kindle down and leaned towards her for a moment and I swear she made a whine that sounded just like "What?"

Larry, I was teasing you as other folks were speaking of emails and I never received one. Sometimes my sense of humor is hard to catch......

Mary Ann

Patricia, I went elsewhere when the freighter cleared the red house so I didn't see the tug boats pulling it back.  I don't know why that would happen because I know they keep that channel dredged regularly.

I think Kendrick has discovered Tom's new bed because I don't see him upstairs often.  I told Tom he should put a bedspread on his bed so the cat doesn't leave his hair on the bedding.  I opened the front and slider doors this morning and the cat didn't come up to go out.  We can't let him out the front door until we have a good rain because men put something on the lawns the other day.  The only place I'll let him out is on the deck.  When he goes out the front door, he is too likely to eat on some of my plants (his version of Cat Grass) and I don't know of the fertilizer or weed killer got to my plants.  It may not hurt the plants but it could hurt the cat.

Mary Ann

Mary Ann

Incidentally, when the cat goes out the front door, he stays on the stoop or ventures very close to the stoop; he does not wander all over the front lawn.  He is, after all, an indoor cat.

It turns out humans aren't the only species that can hear sounds before birth. New studies from Australia find that some mother fairywrens call softly to their eggs. The chicks not only hear their mothers, they actually begin learning parts of her calls while still inside the egg. The calls may later serve as a sort of family password once the birds hatch. Read the story and listen to the calls.

They young Eagles are in the nest getting lunch at the moment. Time for mine also. Have the parrot out on the porch. Better get it in out of the sun.
I meant to go and get some new window blinds early this morning while it was cooler. Left it to late. It is almost 90 deg again. Will wait until tonight.  I needed the Room Darkners and got the regular. Sun comes in that one bedroom.

How I wish it would now rain..

[fontsize=14]MaryAnn, this morning I spent two hours in H____ talking to Quicken, getting my info transferred to the new computer.  Whew - but it is done.

shirleyn

halkel

shirleyn, I have an old, old Quicken program, which I run on W7, that wont work on W10 and I don't relish the thought of paying Quicken for a program that has to be renewed every two years.  Especially since I only use it like a check register not for anything else.  I just like the part that it does all the math which I used to find I screwed up a lot and was the cause I couldn't balance checkbook.  Due to impatience on my part.   :-[

Halkel, I am like you with the Quicken.  I would have left it all on the old computer, but it is telling me it is going to shut down, etc.  Which is why I got a new Windows 10 computer.
Sigh!

Geesh, I see I cannot get the larger size to work.

shirleyn,

Simply type out your message, highlight it, click on select all and then click on what you want, size, font color or extra, and the program will place it for you.

Another way is to use the codes, click on font style, font size and or color and then type your message in between. For example,

[ b ][ font ][ size ][ color ]Just take out the spaces between.[ /b ][ /font ][ /size ][ /color ]

wjoan

I used to use Quicken back when I had money.  LOL

Jeanne Lee

Shirley, you were using the code "font size=.."  It should be only "size=..."

Patricia, those are cute.  I watched the first three but it's time for bed.  Kendrick hasn't done anything out of the ordinary for a couple of days, so no new story.  Thanks for these videos.

Thank you Patricia and Jeanne.  I am finally getting the hang of this new computer.  YAY!   :o

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another very hot day here in South Carolina.  This is going to be a busy day for us.  I have a doctor's appointment with my cardiologist at 10 am.  Then are good friends from our previous church are in the area at their son's home.  They are coming over to visit us later this morning and we will go out to eat.  We are looking forward to their visit.  We had lunch with them a couple of months ago but they did not come to the house as they will this morning.

I just read this very nice piece this morning and want to share it with you all:

Whose Hands

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6.
A baseball in Mark McGuire's hands is worth $19 million.
It depends on whose hands it's in.

A tennis racket is useless in my hands.
A tennis racket in Venus Williams' hands is a championship winning.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal.
A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A sling shot in my hands is a kid's toy
A sling shot in David's hand is a mighty weapon.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in God's hands will feed thousands.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse.
Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will
produce salvation for the entire world.
It depends whose hands it's in.

As you see now it depends whose hands it's in.
So put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your hopes, your dreams,
your families and your relationships in God's hands because...

It depends whose hands it's in.

Mary Ann, they apparently had very bad conditions at that tourney that Langer won.

Joan, it is comforting to know that the cyclist travel in a group and can aid each other if needed.

Patricia, I wondered if you were not teasing me but when I saw I am going to do something I take it very seriously and thought perhaps I had just forgotten what I said I would do as that seems to be happening a bit these days.  I do have a sense of humor and chuckled when I read your response to my comment.  I always wonder about things like the fairywren story but guess no one can prove the claim false.  I also wonder what real purpose does a study like this serve.  Just my thoughts.

Hal, I use and old Money program basically to help reconcile the bank account.  It still works with Windows 10 and Microsoft stopped making new version of it several years ago.  I did look at Quicken a few days ago thinking I would update but after seeing the price and that it was way more than I wanted to needed I decided to stay with what I have.

Shirleyn, you are making good progress on your new computer.

Mary Ann

We are having a nice, very needed, gentle rain right now.  I don't know how long it will last, but I am scheduled to lunch with my retiree friends for the first time since last fall.  Tom will take me and eat there too (Red Lobster) but not with my group.  If Tom is not going to be home for supper, I may have something more than something light.  I love to eat fish out!

Larry, you're right, the conditions at the PA golf course were terrible.

This is officially Flag Day!  It is also my daughter Debi's 61st birthday.

Becky just called to tell me that my granddaughter Judith arrived in Orlando yesterday with three year old Mateo (12/12/12) to take him on his first visit to Disney World.  What a time to be there!  I am already getting pictures of him with Donald Duck and a huge blue ant.  I am not familiar with these new Disney characters, but I know Donald Duck when I see him!

Well, Mateo may or may not be old enough to remember all of this, but he hasn't a clue what is going on in that town.

And it is a perfectly scrumptious day here on the bay.  Chip & I plan to go to a great Indian restaurant to celebrate the Debster's big day.  Unfortunately, Debi & Steve are busy with his extremely ill mother, an 89 year old widow who depends upon their looking after her.  Their girls, Kathryn and Maria, have plans for dining in a French restaurant (Debi teaches French) tomorrow, after Kathryn & Ava get back from Ocean City.  Me, I just hunker down here in my own space and gather the news of all the goings on.

We had such a storm last night.  I was hoping it would help the area to cool down but No.
Today it is going to 93 deg. again and the humidity will be worse.  I just think I will stay
indoors and read, watch movies.

I may get the sweeper out and do a quick run through.

Looks like the Eagles have left for good now.  Be nice if the could one time put some type of gadget on them so that we could follow them and see where they go.

Doesn't look to good around the lake area today.

Jeanne, the eaglets (now called juvies since they fledged) are still there.  Liberty is there right now - on the  branch above the nest.  I read the chat most nights, and the mods say they will probably hang around for another two or three weeks.

Good morning from another cloudy, rainy Interior day. Thursday is supposed to be the only sunny one in the month of June. We shall see. And if it is sunny, will we recognize that big yellow ball in the sky and or the heat?

Farrah has been back to skittish since yesterday when I had a couple of friends over for coffee. She is back to alertly watching me again, but doesn't run and hide. She is becoming very vocal and attempts to herd me where she wants or expects me to go, saying "wren, wren" all the way or something similar, along with her chirps.

Larry, it has been said, I have a dry, rather odd since of humor and not everyone understands or gets it. I'm sorry I confused you. I think those studies are important to birders. Just as the studies of human fetal development are interesting to others.

I am interested in genetics so any similar studies interest me. It is all in what interests a person.I am a big proponent of "Why?"  I am presently taking graphics classes on the computer, something I do because I enjoy it. I have taken some type of class almost since I left high school because these types of things catch my eye.

I wish all of those enjoying the hot weather would thank us here in the Interior for shouldering all the clouds and rain for them! They could thank us by taking a little of the rainy days upon themselves!   ;)

angelface555

MaryPage, when I read about Mateo, my first thought was he shares my daughter's birthday and my second thought was 1912 and three years old did not compute!  ::) I'm still after 16 years, getting used to the new century!  :-[

Happy birthday to Debi! From her photos, she was a lovely child!
