Hi Gals. It sounds like everyone is doing well--or at least the 3 of us who post.  Nothing special going on for Memorial Day. This has been a busy week for me--2 residents' meetings for which I had to take and type minutes, they moved my newsletter office, which made things tight in getting the newsletter done. I finished it yesterday and then had a problem sending it to the printer. When the office gal finally got it printed it was in black and white! But that was just for the proofs. I have a proofing meeting tomorrow (Sun) and after that is corrected, hopefully my gal can get it figured out to print correctly in color on Monday. I also played bridge twice and have another game this afternoon.

The weather has been really warm for May. First, we had about 5 days of rain, which we really needed, the the temps have been in the mid to high 80's. Down to the high 70's now for a few days.

My hummingbirds are really pigging out.  Almost emptied my feeder that I filled Mon.
Jane, did you get your bricks picked up? Your stair lift-chair sounds great. I'm glad you have it. I can still do stairs if I have to, but I have to use a walker getting from our apt. to the clubhouse. It's about a quarter of a mile both ways. I don't need the walker in our apt or in the club house, but walking too far hurts both my knees and back if I don't use it. I'm trying to do the exercise bike in our gym 3 times a week, if possible.

Lori's husband works for VA as an engineer and he was just told that he needs to take early retirement or risk getting fired.  So that has caused them a financial problem as he had 2 more years to go. So they have sold their newly renovated condo and are looking for a new smaller, cheaper one. Always something, I guess.

Brian's 2 sons are both home for a week. Sean just finished OTC and is heading to OK for Remote Artillery training in June.  Braeden has been stationed in Quatar and recently returned to Germany for another year.  They are my 2 youngest grands.

Lori's youngest son just got his PhD in English Language & Lit. He is also getting married in October.

So life goes on.  I guess that's a good thing though.  Keep healthy, everyone.

Hope everyone is doing well.  May June bring us all good health and happiness.

The bricks are still here...friend tells me he has a problem organizing his time.   I don't care when he comes, and told friend that.

It's to get summertime hot this week, but not unusual.

Stay safe and healthy,

Jane

Darlene...good to see you posting.  Hi to Sherry, too, when she looks in and anybody else who comes our way.

Today was run around town and pay bills.  I wanted to put them on my credit card, but my house insurance bill would add on $64.xx for using as credit card, so I just had them do a bank transfer.  Then, I was hungry for fish, and had heard one golf club here had good fish on Fridays, so I went out there and enjoyed two grilled pieces with fries and cole slaw.  VERY tasty fish.

Home now for the rest of the day and the weekend.

Reading reports of lots of covid around again.  My primary care said new vaccine isn't out yet, but they'll announce when it is.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Hi Jane and Sharon..Do either of you ever hear from Marilyn...we use to have several more buddies posting...hope they are OK..It's very. Hot here..I don't get out much..Do have to go for an X-ray next wk..It's sad to see. All the riots going on....I don't watch..but it's always top story on news..Hi to all looking. In..stop and say hello...have a good week

SharonE

Hi Gals. Not much going on here. I did go to my cardiologist for a 6 mo check and now have to wear a holter monitor for a week to see if my A Fib is controlled. I can't tell when I have it.
There was quite the thunder storm last night and more rain this afternoon. Temps in the high 80's.

Darlene, I take 10 mg of Melatonin every night. John takes 3 mg. We swear by it.

John receive a triple chocolate cheese cake for Fathers Day from Melanie. Sounds wonderful.

I haven't seen anything from Marilyn on FB in quite a while.
Do any of you know how the others are?

No other news here.  Keep well and enjoy summer.  Sherry

Good morning Buddies..I'm having a sad walk this morning...my Brother passed away at the age of 89...I know God blessed him with a long and fruitful life..and no more suffering from Cancer..I am the last one from 9 kids...I didn't want to be last..but it's Gods plan..prayers for his family and me,,He will be missed so much...have a safe and good health day

jane

Darlene...sorry to hear you've lost your brother.  It's hard to see family losses.  My sister and I are the last on my Dad's side of the family and there's just one cousin left on my Mom's side. There used to be "family reunions" when I was a kid, but that's long gone now.

We're getting weather alerts about the high temps for the next three days and cooling stations opened for those without AC.  I'm fortunate to have AC in this old house, and it'll be running full blast.  We had another storm overnight and TV is showing tree damage in some towns.

I'm inside until Monday morning when I have a haircut scheduled, but it's here in town, so no big deal.

My cleaning gal came yesterday as a makeup for missing last week because she had strep throat again.  She finished up by washing down my screened porch, so it's all ready for my lazy body.  She'll be back next Thursday to get back on her regular 2 week schedule.  I'm so lucky to have her.  She's helped for us for years.

Sherry...good to hear you and John are doing ok. I hope the heart monitor shows your AFib is behaving and enjoy that triple choc cheese cake.  Sounds YUMMY!  I do love chocolate!

I saw on the news a new version of covid is going around China, etc.  It'll soon be in Europe and here, I'm sure.

I only have a dentist appt left this month to do and then I'll have completed the annual wellness thing, eye exams and teeth in good shape.  In July I have 3 weeks of bladder treatments and some ct scans, urograms, etc. in August...and then it'll be fall!

Let us know if anyone hears from Marilyn or Patricia or any of the other ladies who've stopped in from time to time.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Good morning, Jane, CC, and anyone else who stops by. I'm here, I read every day, but don't often have anything to say other than replying to others.

SharonE

Hi everyone, especially Patricia who hasn't posted in so long.

Darlene, my deepest condolences on the loss of your brother. It is so sad to lose a sibling. I only had 1 brother and lost him almost 20 years ago. I am the last in my generation of my mother's family and I think of my father's family. Scary, isn't it.

Jane, it sounds like you have a lot of tests coming up. Good luck with them all.
I haven't heard the results of my heart monitor yet.

We've had very sad news recently---Melanie, our oldest (62) has been diagnosed with a new tumor in her pelvis. This is the 4th occurrence of her cancer. It is a very aggressive, rare cancer that has no real treatment aimed strictly for it. She has had all the radiation and chemo that she can have, so they are going to give her an oral immunotherapy drug that costs $12,000/month! Isn't that obscene?! Fortunately, her deductible is met and she will have no co-pay. She is going to go to Mayo's in Jacksonville for a 2nd opinion the 7th. However, the prognosis isn't good. I pray and I pray and still it keeps coming back. God must have a reason for it that I don't understand.  We may go down there to visit in a few weeks if she is up to it.

Well, on that note, I'll close for now. Stay well everyone.  Sherry

Sherry: Sorry to hear of Melanie's recurring tumors.  I hope the pill works.  Yes, that's an outrageous price.

Darlene: the loss of your brother is so very sad.

It's very hot and humid here in the upper Midwest.  Storms are forecast for tomorrow.  I'm still recovering from visit with nephew and niece.  They did a lot of work while here..Checking gutters from up on the roof, tearing down an old wood fence that had deteriorated a lot, hauled all that in two trips to dump in Cedar Rapids as we have nothing opened here, a trip to a metal recycle place, only 6 miles away.

The city is having a celebration down at a park, but I'm not up for that at 94 degrees outside.

Take care and stay safe and healthy,

Jane

Darlene...the flooding and loss of life in Texas and New Mexico is beyond horrific.  I hope you and your family are safe from such flooding.

We had strong storms yesterday as Patricia drove me to my treatment.  It was the full dose and really set me back.  Thank heavens she was with me and drove us home.
Today, the storms have continued and we have flash flood warnings all over the tv.

My treatment protocols have changed, and the next two weekly ones will likely be my last in the maintenance section.  I will be very glad for that.  And thank heavens my sister is flying out next Wednesday. She'll take me to the last two.

Stay healthy and safe,

Jane

This heat is wicked stuff.  Tomorrow is my last treatment for a long time, I hope.  My sister being here has been fun.
She'll be here until Sunday night, then to a motel by the airport for her 6:00 am Monday flight home.

Take care and be safe if you're in this heat dome!

Jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, We're in the heat dome too.  Friday-Wed are to be 100 or 101 degrees with high humidity sending the heat index to around 107. Fortunately our AC works and I don't have to go out.
Yes, Darlene, the Texas floods were terrible. I can't believee the loss of life, not to mention the damage to the area.
Jane, I hope all your tx are over now and that you can relax. It was great that your sister was able to come and be with you for a nice visit as well as take you to your tx.

Melanie has 2 tumors--one in her shoulder and one in her hip/pelvic area. Both in the bone.  She's in a tremendous amount of pain, but the morphine that they described makes her so constipated that she has had to stop it and go back to tramadol and an occasional OxyContin.
Lori, our younger daughter has been diagnosed with breast cancer! So hard to watch both of them fighting cancer.
When I saw the cardiologist, he didn't like the results of my monitor and sent me to an electrophysiologist who has prescribed a pacemaker which I should get in the next month or so.It seems it never rains but pours!  Thank you, Darlene, for your prayers.

Stay well.  Sherry

jane

OMG, Sherry, what a heartache you are carrying for your two girls!  I hope they find something to relieve Melanie's pain that doesn't cause her other problems.  Does she and her husband live in Fla full time now?  And Lori is in the Chi area?

It was great to have my sister here.  I could drive down for these last two weekly treatments, but she drove us home.  So, I got to « ring the bell » and my sweet nurse, had a bag with chocolate candy for me as a treat.  This last one was only 1/4 of a dose of the TB virus, so it didn't hit me too hard.

I hope to take my sister out to Real Deals this afternoon, so we can look around at a lot of « stuff »for a change.

Take care and stay safe in this awful heat dome!

Jane

Cottoncandy

Hi Buddies...Sherry. Prayers for your girls..Melanie and Lori..It hurts us to see our kids in pain..what ever the problem is..Jane I don't remember u taking treatments or for what reason but cheers you are done glad your sister was a dis there for you..have a great time shopping..stay safe

jane

Darlene...it's bladder cancer this time.  I hope that's the end of treatment, except for scheduled cystoscopies.

Heat dome is not very pleasant as you all know and are also experiencing.   We've had a lot of rain so grass is growing like mad...and farmers now complaining about too much water.

It's been nice having my sis here for the last two treatments...I'll take her to CR tomorrow and she'll fly to Chicago and then on to Cleveland early  on Monday morning.  I hope it was a little rest for her, too, not having to prepare supper every night.

Nothing else new or exciting here.  Take care and stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, Thank you for the prayers and good thoughts for the girls. Yes, Jane, Melanie is in Hernando, FL full time. Her kids are in Minneapolis and So Indiana. Lori is in Chicago. Her sons are in Minneapolis and Indiana also.  She sees her surgeon next Tues, so should find out something about her surgery and maybe the tx following it.

In the meantime, I'm getting my pacemaker 8/12 at 6:30 AM!!! They won't even have to use anesthetic as I will still be asleep! Ha!

No other news here. Just playing lots of bridge, and oh yes the extreme heat has broken and we
are down in the 80's now for a while.

Take care of yourselves.  Congrats on ringing the bell, Jane. Such good news!
Sherry
