Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Sachiko, I have Caller ID on my phone and it shows the phone number calling (in most cases).  If I do not recognize the number, I do not answer the phone and I do not pick up the phone.  I have an answering message and most of the time they hang up.  It saves a lot of wear and tear on my nerves.  I am sure the Japanese phone systems have a similar thing to Caller ID.

Mary Ann. The only thing is these Scammers are Pro's and have their systems fixed so that their numbers do not show up. Their phones, a Telephone man told me can just automatically dial our numbers and it registers if we pick up and say just one word. they have theirs doing dozens at one time,  then can go back and check which answered. These are getting better and better for them now. And Yes, they say that they are produced in Asia and so I am sure that they are hooked up everywhere. I know it is big in UK now as family have it just as bad.  I got all new phones and so never got caller ID on. Just let the answer machine pick up.  Do you have a mobile phone also?  I use that more now.
JeanneP

Sachiko3

Mary Ann, JeanneP, thank you about your case. As I did not use the telephone very much, I did not notice. I use my mobile phone well, too.

Mary Ann

JeanneP, if I do not recognize the number shown on my phone, I do not pick up the phone.  If there is no number shown, I also do not pick up the phone.  I have an answering system on my phone and if someone does leave a message, I can listen to that, then delete the message.  I have long suspected that many of those calls are automatic and the first person to answer leaves the others with no message.  Most of the calls I get where I do not answer, do not leave a message.  I hope I never become so senile that I will start falling for those messages.

Mary Ann

MaryAnn. It is getting worse now for soliciting on the phone. Now they start at 8am and have had the even after 9pm also now doing it on weekends.
With the way and as far as Technology has come one would think that it could be stopped but they now say that the are soon going to be able to break into the Mobile home lines.
So its getting like those that can still mess up computers  etc.  Most they say is done from out of the US. This must be right because my friends and family in UK can be getting the same calls.
Family had two from people who said I had been in a bad accident and asking for money to be wired in order for hospital to let be admitted..  So I  was told that now they can get info on people going through airports and traveling.  I had been to UK  but already I was back home.

First of all, it's good to see Sachiko and Sato back with us.  Best wishes for healing and return of strength.  Lovely posts.

Second, congratulations to Bubble and Don.  May you have much happiness together.

Third, I enjoyed all of the videos. Thanks.

I have posted very little in the last few months. I have been the primary caretaker for my favorite wife which keeps me quite occupied.  At the end of March, she contracted a very serious infection in her knee which was replaced four years ago.  No one knows how it happened, but it required emergency surgery to remove the implant and clean up the infected area.  One week in the hospital, three weeks in a nursing/rehab facility, and six weeks of IV antibiotics.   With no knee, she cannot put any weight on the leg. The ortho surgeon cannot get to knee 2.0 until August 11.  We do get out though.

Anyway, I am showing something of a lighter nature here.  We have an oldies rock & roll band here, and I am friends with several of the players.  We went to see them last night, and what was really fun was watching a 'young lady' dancing.  She set aside her walker and with the help of her daughter and a server was having the time of her life.

Mary Ann

Lynn, that was wonderful to see.  We older folks aren't all dead yet!

I'm sorry to hear of your wife's knee problem.  I hope in August she will be OK.

Mary Ann

jackwv

Lynn good to hear from you, sorry the reason we have not is your wife's problems.  Regards to you, Ray and your family.

That was fun watching the old timer and she was really into it.

Sachiko3

Lynn, thank you very much for your gentle words. I am pleased to come to be able to post my work here.
I'm sorry without knowing the circumstances of your wife.

I enjoyed your video very much! That "young lady" is wonderful! She would be very fun.

Joy

Lynn,  so sorry to hear about your wife's knee problems.  What an ordeal for her to have to go through.  And, such a long time to have to have the new replacement.   I hope everything will go well with her upcoming surgery, and hope that you will have a speedy recovery and be "good as new" in a very short time.

Hope your dad is doing well.

Lynn, it's good to see you posting.  I'm so sorry about the problems your wife is having with her knee and I understand what being a full time caregiver involves.  I'll be hoping when the surgeon finally gets things taken care of she will heal quickly.  In the meantime, give her our best wishes.

I'm here with "sympathy & prayers", too, Lynn.  Give your wife a big hug from one of the old gals in here.  I wondered where you had been, hope the rest of the family is doing okay.  Shirley

This heat is wearing me down... extreme and especially for being only June.  I'm dreading the next few months, so far this month has been above normal except for the first day on the month.  Even early morning was mid 80s so dripping wet by the time I cut back some flowers that was through blooming.

Sweet dreams to all, must give cats their bedtime snack (I'm the one that goes to bed).... Shirley

Lynn, I'm so sorry about the problems your wife is having with her knee. I did not understand it well

A bush warbler was singing in my hill at the back on 13 June.
But, unfortunately, I was not able to see the figure of the bush warbler.

Mary Ann

Sachiko, I'm sorry you could not see the bush warbler but I could hear it OK.

Mary Ann

Sachiko3

Mary Ann, thank you very much for your comment. In fact, I have seen only one or two times of figures of the bush warbler. It is always only a singing voice.

jackwv

Sachiko, lovely sights and sounds.

Sato

Lynn, thanks for your message.  I'm so sorry about the difficulties your wife's having with her knee.  I pray she will heal soon.

Sachiko, it was a nice movie of the bush warbler and the scenes where she is hiding in.  The movie looks in a flash format.  What camera did you take it with?

Shirley

Sorry to say my computer would not pick up the warbler's singing, Sachiko!  I have had problems with the sound ever since Windows 10 took over.... had the volume turned as high as it would go.  Maybe another time it will work. I do love the look of the "woods" and the cosmos blooming.  I should have taken a camera down to the river with me tonight, my tiger lilies are blooming so pretty.  The mosquitoes are buzzing because of the rain earlier so I did not stay but a minute.

Because of the heat I got up about 4:00 am to start the laundry I have been putting off.  Got 4 loads done but plenty more waiting.  I use a lot of towels & sheets to cover where the cats sleep and play, plus all the clothes I wore while camping & going in town to eat.  My eyes are getting heavy so will go to bed early tonight!

Sachiko3

Jack, Sato, thank you very much for your comments.

Sato, are you already all right? I took those movies in Canon G7X. The file name is MP4. I hear the cry clearly, but rarely see the figure of the bush warbler.

Sachiko3

Shirley, thank you very much for your comment. I use Windows10, too, but there is no problem about the sound. I look forward to your tiger lilies.
You are busy and seem to be tired very much. Good night! So that you have a wonderful dream!

Sato

Sachiko, when I hit YouTube last night, "FLASH" mark appeared, so I thought you made the video in flash format.  However today, it was shown as "HTML5".  All good!!  She is singing with a beautiful voice.

I'm getting better day after day.  But still need more trainings for rehabilitation.  Maybe I'll be back home next month.

Sato, I thought it is one first for joy that hear the call of bush warbler, but I do not know it whether several are. Actually, bush warblers may exchange love call.
I pray for your complete recovery.

FlaJean

I enjoyed hearing your bush warbler, Sachiko.  There are several bird in trees nearby and we hear them singing when on our back porch.  A friend sent me chimes as a gift for our new house and they make the most beautiful sound.

Sachiko3

Good morning!

Jean, thank you very much for your comment.
I would like to hear the sound of the chime which your friend presented.

Does anyone know how close jackwv is to those devastating floods in West Virginia?

Click for Corinth, New York Forecast

jackwv

Jeanne Lee   thanks for checking.   All the flooding was in the southern part of the state.  They had 0ver 9 inches of rain.  I had less than 1 inch that we needed.  A real shame for so many that have lost loved ones and all their possessions.

Jeanne Lee

Jack, I know nothing about your state and where you are located, but I'm glad to know you weren't washed away.   :D

It seem funny now to see these floods. High winds and Tornado coming into areas that are in areas I had not seen them before. I sure they did maybe years ago before my time here. Are they getting worse now then in years past?.
I worked for a few years for a large Design Engineering company that designed a lot of the interstate Highways Int. 57. 74.  etc.It seems to me that changing the rivers, Dams. putting these highways in taking away the farm land along with all the housing the are building in the suburbs,  Hi Rises in cities are doing part of the problem. I am not near any of the big Rivers and we still have a lot of Farm land and pretty flat, although we are doing a lot more building now. Think will stick to living this area.  Don't thing I could clean up after a big flood. Helped friends do it years ago.  Slimy. Yuk

JeanneLee  thanks again.  I am north close to Pittsburgh.  They do mention one death in Ohio County (where I am located) But the flooding had nothing to do with it.  A woman walked in the creek holding the hands of two children.  The eight year old boy slipped, lost his grip and was pulled under the water.  His body was not recovered for several hours.   Have given the boy and his poor mother lots of thoughts and prayers.
