Hi everyone.  It looks like we are going to get a break in the heat for today with the high only expected to get to 91.  It is expected to be to only 87 at noon, which we will appreciate after church.  I know Pat plans on eating out after church as she indicated that yesterday.  I did have a good nights sleep and have taken care of the outside chores this morning.  I am looking forward to Sunday School and church.  Today I am bringing the devotional for the Sunday School class.  This afternoon I will listen to Don's classical music program and later watch some golf as I have a quiet afternoon and evening.

wjoan

Forecast for today calls for 92 degrees and tomorrow is supposed to be 99.  No other news at this time from the GNW

Hugs all around

Good afternoon, on another pleasent day.  We do need rain.  My neighbor that cleans my house every two weeks, is worried about her family, as they live in W.V. I talk to her yesterday and she was trying to call them.

Yes Patricia, I did get your email, We always love to talk about our babies.  There will be fireworks at the racetrack about half mile from us on the 2nd. and she will be under the bed.

Larry, I plan to go out on the porch, do some reading, also will watch golf on my Kindel.

MaryAnn, I ment to ask you, did you see the Fox woundering around the golf course on Thursday.  It even walked in back of some of the player.  Laid down with a yawn. that was funny.

Again we are up in the 90s. Doubt i will go out today.  Wonder how many of us are sitting at the computer listening to Don's beautiful music playing.  Sometimes I have a hard time getting him in.

Can look forward to having one of my favourite Masterpiece shows on tonight. The next series of "Endeavour" watched the 1st part of it last week. It wasn't the best but now he is back working the force again.  I do believe that  The Pledging is over again. Hope so . Hate in when they cut into the Series.

I don't even have to cook dinner as have food left over from last night. This weather making me lazy. Miss the long walks I usually take daily. Can see me putting on a few lbs if I don't move more.

Good morning, another hot day here and in the mid-eighties. After all the rain, it is welcomed!

I had a nice lunch with friends but a bad afternoon. I was heading out to the bus for some afternoon shopping when a woman here said she had never been on the bus, had always had a car before, and wanted to come.

I waited for her to get her cart for groceries and then stopped off for coffee and purchased her one. We waited for the bus, I explained it's procedures and while I wanted to go to another store, she asked to go to Walmart. I obliged and we were expected, after shopping to meet at the pharmacy where they had benches.

The upshot was that she wasn't at the pharmacy. I waited from two until five pm. I had her paged three times. She had expressed fear of taking the bus on her own. Finally, at five I took a cab feeling taken advantage of. I have yet to see her and am not welcoming that meeting!

Farrah always runs over to me when I have food and yesterday's jump was no exception. I always feel bad when I eat and she wants some. Why do I feel guilty when I know I don't plan to give her any? It must be her yearning face and the long time of getting her adjusted.

Anyway, I purchased Fancy Feast in the three-ounce cans so we shall see. I hate the mess of uneaten leftovers because she won't eat food that has been in the fridge. The vet prefers wet food so, I have dry and wet which I replenish each morning.

This has not been my day, computer wise.  When I first tried, I could get my e-mail and Yahoo news, but Firefox would not come up.  I had to get ready for church so tabled the computer until I returned.  In the meantime, Dot and I went to church, the OTB.  When I got home, I tried the computer with the same result.  I have another laptop and tried that with the same result, which is unusual.  I did a search on Firefox and was told I had an old version (2014) so I downloaded the new version and I was able to get here.  Whew!

Gloria D, yes, I did notice the fox on the golf course yesterday.  It was a pretty animal.

Mary Ann

JeanneP

MaryAnn. I have use firefox for years. About 4 on this computer. I have never had to change to a new Version. Are you sure that it isn't like say MS and it just does it Auto like lots of other things.? I see if I can go into Firefox and see if it has any info.  I am sure someone will come in here and tell us.

ote: Latest versions of Firefox are designed to automatically check for updates and download the latest versions of the software as needed.

Hi, I did go into firefox and mine comes up with a number and say that my Firefox is up to date. See the note also above.

Mary Ann

Re Firefox, I did think it was unusual to tell me I had an old version (and I don't think 2014 is old).  Anyway, I did download it on the other computer and things worked.  On this computer I could not access any of my bookmarks so finally did what I should have done in the first place; I restarted the computer.  This time when I clicked on Firefox, Seniors & Friends came up and I kind of had to sign in again (just put in my user name and everything else clicked into place) and here I am.  I have had a lot of computer problems ever since I let Windows 10 take over my original windows 7 computers, but this one I am using now, also with problems, I ordered as W-7 and I hope to keep it that way.  I will say that computing is not nearly the fun these days that it used to be!

Mary Ann

shirleyn

Amen to that, MaryAnn!  I am still getting used to the new computer and to Windows 10 at the same time.  My new computer & windows are slipping around like you have described.  I think (but not sure) maybe I lay my wrists on the place one would move the curser. I use a mouse, so that place is supposed to be shut down?

Larry, I had questions for you but while gathering the info to tell you, I found my own answers.  I had to laugh.

I asked about Jenny - does anyone know about her?

You all have a great evening.

shirleyn.

Mary Ann

Shirley, I was accused of putting my wrists on the touch pad (or whatever it's called) and that could be true, but I've been typing on laptops for many years and my problems started when I downloaded Windows 10.  I think the problems must have been catching - from one computer to another!  I've only typed since I was in 10th or 11th grade in high school, all through work and I am a touch typist.  I don't understand why my typing methods can cause all of these problems all of a sudden.

One thing that happens and has happened twice since I started this post is the font size changes.  I can barely read what I am typing and I'll make it larger before I send it so I know what I've said!

Mary Ann

It seem like this W10 works good if one buy a new computer with it already on there. Also the price you pay for the computer. Laptops seem to have more problems than desktops.
But the one where people downloaded the free on and installed on a older computer like WXP or W7 then they give troubles. Maybe because Millions of people did the free one

I am still holding on to my Desktop with W7 until I go down to Texas and pick up a new one Then will see what W10 does. I just can't put up with problems on computers.  I have my IPad and Amazon Fire Tablet and so far no problems on anything I have owned.  I don't do games. Lots of downloading . Banking all that kind of stuff.  Will see.
JeanneP

angelface555

I was in the first group to download W10 and absolutely no problems or issues. I believe that it is the W7 and below systems that had issues because they were not W8 or W8.1. You are going from zero to sixty by doing so and of course, there will be problems trying to catch up an older machine or older windows to an up to date system. But that is just my opinion. If you only check into a few sites and use email, why switch?

The touchpad is sensitive enough to react to just a hand brushing over it and I know because I had that issue until I switched off the touchpad.

Jenny posts daily in the late evening.

We just had a brief squall with thunder and lightening and Farrah, lying next to the window never woke up!

Hi everyone.  It is another 78 degree morning but will only get into the low 90's this afternoon.  Yesterday was a delightful day as when we got out of church there was a brisk breeze and the temperature was just in the high 80's.  We went to Ryan's Steak House for the buffet after church and then had a quiet afternoon and evening.

I have my morning chores done and am now eating my breakfast.  I will attend my Monday noon meeting as I am in charge today.  I see at least three little birdies in the next up in the corner of our front porch.  I could see their little heads peeping above the nest this morning.

deAngel, I watched the last part of the PGA gold match yesterday.  It looks like there may be another fine player emerging.  I hope he enjoys great success.

Patricia, it sounds like the lady had a mental lapse in not meeting you as decided upon.  It was nice of you to help her use the bus.  You were more patient in waiting three hours for her to show up than I would have been.

Mary Ann, I find that rebooting when I have a problem on the computer solves many problems.  I think about everyone experiences occasional problems on the computer, at least I know Pat and I do.

Shirley, as JennieP indicated above it only takes a mere light touch on the touch pad to cause the cursor to move.  Check to see if one of your Function Keys won't toggle the touch pad on and off.  If not, just take an old credit card or piece of cardboard and cover the touch pad up.  I have my laptop set up that way and when my son uses it he just pulls the Magic Tape lose on one side and than when finishes puts it back for me.  (I have your email and will answer it a little later this morning.)

Good afternoon, nice day, suppose to have much needed rain to morrow.

Larry, I really enjoyred yesterdays golf  I love my Kindle, so I can watch TV on the porch.  At first I was hopeing Ernie Ells, would win, but the more I watched and heard about this young man, I was happy with the results.  Did you see where Tiger's son shared 2nd place in Fla. in a golf tournament for youngesters?

Patricia, I cannot believe how that women left you.  Did you know her?

Good morning from the Interior. Gloria, I knew her from when I was on the committee that helped people here with various bits of paperwork, taxes and whatnot. I haven't seen her yet but she will ask people to go here and there or help with something. I will be wiser next time.

MaryPage

Patricia, are you sure she wasn't hit over the head and dragged into a storage room and robbed and killed?

And yes, most of my reading these days consists of murder mysteries!  But still.

angelface555

MaryPage, I'd be like... :walkwhistle:

She asked where I was going, invited herself and insisted on taking her wheeled grocery cart and insisted on going to Walmart in a passive aggressive way where I would feel bad for saying no. Then after not exchanging phone numbers as she said, she can't hear it in her purse, she disappeared and I wasted a sunny day, looking for her. So....I'm not especially looking forward to seeing her again.   :walkwhistle:

Could she maybe be coming down with dementia?  Hey, girlfriend, I'm not trying to find fault with YOU!  Quite the contrary:  I am playing Devil's Advocate in the event there is a reasonable explanation, such as getting killed, or suffering a seizure and being taken off to hospital, or losing her ability to remember (my short term memory is flying out the window every day now!), or something I haven't thought of.

I relate to your angst.  Had something similar happen to me ten years ago.  Know the frustration and outright despair.  Am in complete sympathy with you, and do not wish to diminish your suffering one iota.  Just trying to find a possible reasonable explanation.  Am always seeking for the reality in various situations.  Not always finding it.  Some things in this life just don't add up.  But I have an analytic mind, and always look for cause to balance equations.  I think you are much the same.

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  It looks like we are going to have another reasonable day going up to 87 but only for one hour.  There is a good possibility of rain in the forecast for this afternoon. Last night we had about 1/2 inch of rain.

We are really looking forward to today as good friends from where we moved are coming for a day visit.  They are very active in the church we attended before we moved, he is the one I bought the PT Cruiser from and his wife is an active quilter and sewer.  He attends the coffee group I used to attend about everyday and he also is a part of the church men's luncheon group.  They are very interesting people and the ones who spend about 6 months a year at their home in Mexico where their son and grandchildren live.  They have a new little dog and will bring Crispy with them as he is a seasoned traveler.

Yesterday I had a pleasant surprise when I called the lumber company that had supplied our windows and found that the replacement panel for half the window will cost only $39.  One of the companies I had called wanted $40 just to come out and see the situation and measure.  I feel that is very reasonable as will be able to lift out the old window and quickly insert the new as these are tip our windows.

This morning as I was watering my flowers I saw 4 little bird heads above the rim of the nest.  They must be growing quickly.

deAngel, I had not seen the information about Tiger Wood's son winning in the tourney for youngsters.  If it was this last weekend then Tiger probably missed it as he was hosting the PGA event at Congressional Country Club.

JeanneP

Thank Goodness. After 3 weeks of the 90s temps today it is in the high 70s. Will last for rest of week.  Maybe now I can wash down the porch. Take the summer furniture and wash down. I don't have the A/C on but windows open. Feel so good. Sleep better also.

Been both sitting and eating way to much as not getting my walking in every day. So plan on doing that also.  I can see how sitting around the house all day puts weight on people. I felt like by knees getting stiff.  O.K now.    Hate to think of what July and August will be like. They year seems to be going so fast. Usually lots of things going on in this area. Few I never went to because of the heat.
A good show started at the small theatre by me tomorrow and so see if still tickets for that. Got Wednesday night.  Town is quiet on Campus as 39000 people left and the Summer school not yet started.  Only get about 12000 in then.  In to get higher degrees. Lots from other countries.
JeanneP

Mary Ann

Jeanne, it's very comfortable here, too, with the temp in the mid 60s.  I can take that!

I've been looking at some pictures from West Virginia and I don't know how I'd handle such a disaster.  At my present age, I would not be able to handle it, but even 20 years younger I don't know what I'd do.  While I live on a pond that in 1986 was near my patio, I am far enough from the Grand River to not be affected.  In fact, if the river rose to affect my place, the whole city would be in trouble.

Grand Haven looks good, but being a work day probably not many people on the beach.  Either they have moved the camera or the trees have grown (probably both) but I don't see much of the beach this year.

MaryAnn.  I suppose that soon lots of people will be heading up your way on vacations. Then the beach will be busy.

Only spotted on Eagle last few days. It is in the tree right now.  That nest is such a mess full of big branches. Maybe they don't want to clean it up. I know I am having a hard time cleaning the house in this hot weather. Done a little this morning but sweeper sitting here and can't get in the mood.

I say the same on flooding. Maybe younger I may have cleaned it up but not now. It would be me heading away. Never to return.
During the war in UK. our house never bombed but my poor father. Couldn't stand having things boarded and and they would bomb the area. All or most the windows would be blown out and he would get started right away putting glass back in. Doors back on. Then off they would come again. Most didn't do that. Just boarded them up. Even then I thought. I wouldn't have that patience. Right now it is driving me nuts because I need a ten ft area in the crawl space fixed. Needs new insulation and a new belly put on to hide the plumbing pipes. 2 men have said they would get it done. Not seen them yet.  Maybe to hot for them. So not calling just wait for fall.

Was suppose to be a freighter coming through the Duluth, Lake Superior Channel at 12:30pm. Do you watch that one.  Not seen anything yet.  Maybe Minnesota is different time than me. Not sure.  Sure a lot of people both sit and walk along that  area. Some small boats using it today.

No. I checked and they are the same time as us.

Jeanne, one arrived at 12:45.  There is one in the distance right now that is scheduled to arrive between 1:30 and 2.  Another one is scheduled to arrive between 2 and 2:30.

Mary. Yes. I left it up on the Screen and one just went through at 2:15. Bridge back down again now.
They sure get a lot of people show up to see those go through, don't they?

MaryPage, I asked someone if they had seen her and he said not since 2 days ago. She was getting out of a cab. So she returned early.....

MaryTX

Jeanne, they really do get a lot of people when ships come thru.  Even on bad weather days, there is people there.  The "Tricycle Built for Two" with the yellow sunshade is cute.  I thought there was just one, but today saw three following each other in a row.  Good exercise :).

Seattle has the Harold Christenden Locks aka Ballard Locks (or the Government Locks as they were called when I was a kid) are very interesting to visit.  They are like the Panama Canal locks in that they raise and lower the water level from the Lake Washington Ship Canal/Lake Union to Puget Sound. I went thru them one time on a friend's boat.

THE GREEKS will be on most PBS channels for the second time tonight.  Apparently it will be every Tuesday night at nine o'clock Eastern for as long as this new series lasts.  Some of you indicated you would like to have seen it, so I am letting you know.

We have humongous cargo ships going past out on the bay every day.  I often see them waiting in designated spots out there on the bay before they get word from the port of Baltimore that a space is available for them.  They come from all over the world.

Also, if any of you can stay up that late, Charlie Rose is having some experts on Brexit on tonight.  His show is often repeated the next day in the daytime, so if you can't stay up for it (it comes on at eleven EDT here), you should check your PBS schedule to see if it will be on in the daytime where you are.

Mary TX   That would be a nice place to walk. Specially when the weather  so hot.  Yes, I wondered what those Yellow machines were.  We, now in town just got two of the Traveling Bars. They take tours around the Downtown area and all around the University Campus . You sort of Peddle and drink. Hold 12 people. Was cute the other night. Friday as our down town is getting like New Orleans. Lots going on and there was a party on for a young lady getting married Saturday. It runs about 3 hours and you bring your own Bottle. They were having a good time.
