Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Jeanne Lee, a warm welcome home, yes It makes sense that the couch is the place to be....

Larry Hanna, sorry to hear that your peace will be shattered over the next few coming months...

JoanFL

Lloyd--I don't argue.  That's another "whatever floats your boat".

Good morning, Larry.  It's going to be HOT again here, too.    You sure had a nice day yesterday.   Dinner at a fine restaurant, Scott along with you and Pat and his thoughtful gifts and cards.  I guess you will have to get some ear plugs that will drown out the noise of the new construction.

Gloria

Good morning everyone.

AMY  sorry you had to go to the nurse instead of having her come to your home. Sounds heartless since your husband just had the surgery.

HAL  like you I like paying my own bills. I make out my own checks and make sure I go over my bank statements every month.

LLOYD  I always feel bad for those who have to work outside in all kind of weather. The older I get the less I can take hot humid weather.

JOAN  oh boy sticky buns well be so yummy. Leave it to grandma to spoil the young mans lesson. Thank you for today's goodies.

JEANNE LEE  glad you are home again. I don't know anyone who can rest in a hospital. Take care and rest.

LARRY  glad you and Pat had a great Anniversary and Pat a good birthday. Scott sounds like a thoughtful and loving son.

Good morning, Gloria.  I look out the window and see many HOA lawncare folks doing their job.  I don't know how they tolerate the hot, humid weather.  I notice they've been starting at 7 a.m. instead of 8 a.m., and I don't blame them.

JoanFL.

Banks will no long take in old currency. Not even if bank in their own country. Use to be the UK banks would but not since they went to the new point system.  The paper notes did not change so much so O.K with them.

Good morning, again 99 humitidy, could go to 90temp.  this has got to be a quick note. as I am waiting to be picked up to go to RH luncheon.  I dread going outside, but I have paid for the lunch.

Larry, I never heard about and allowence, when I was growing up. My mother expected me to do my asiigned duties.

Amy, I think thats awful, the nurse did not come, and you have to go to them.  I was lucky with my husband she came twice a week for my husband, and also for me when I came home from the hospital.

Oh,. got to go my ride is here.

Carol

Lindancer:  I hope you enjoyed your lunch.

Scams  - I took a call last night and the guy was so friendly sounding, chatting about helping out our homeless veterans and could he put me down for $20.  Next, could it at least be $15 - I told him we give to the Wounded Marine Semper Fi Fund and he said this was for local - I told him no.  My mother always said NO very emphatically, so that is easy for me.  It was a scam.

Sandy:  I hope you get your throat issue checked out - maybe an allergic reaction, maybe not.  Dill pickles are my favorite.  Here, the prices at Goodwill have gone up - prefer to donate and buy from Salvation Army and ARC.  Just saying....

There is a reservation run recycle and trash dump in Montana where the vehicle is weighed both before dumping and after.  However, some people go there and still throw everything in one spot - tainting the outcome and much work for the people taking care of the trash.  Here, we have a bin for recycle picked up every other week (and we can take a load to a special place otherwise) - regular trash is weekly.  Don't forget to give these hard working people a special tip at Christmas.  They do the work we wouldn't want to do in all kinds of weather.

JoanFL

JeanneP--I didn't know that about banks.

Linedanncer--Enjoy your Red Hat luncheon.

Carol--These scams sure are annoying.  I do give the trash/recycle man a tip at Christmas time.

Good Morning (afternoon here)
from the Rocky Coast of Maine.

I got up this AM and went to the grocery store
via the bus and had no issues.... Just took it
easy and went with the flow...

The temps have dropped here in Maine so
no AC is needed today.

All is well ..   I am wishing everyone
a very good day.

Good Morning Everyone!
Just got back from Church (Men's bible study).  I see everyone is keeping busy and getting things done.  Nothing much more on tap here.  Animal guy coming by at 2 to look into my skunk problem, sprayed my dog the other night.

Everyone have a good afternoon.

JaneS

Home from work...tired up the gazoo...feet hurt...not hungry any more.

I just finished off the chicken I made with the Campbell's sauce.  it was delicious but it made too much.  If I do it again, I think I'll do it in two casseroles and try freezing one for later.

I have to go now because the sofa is absolutely screaming for me!  I just can't take all that hollering so I'm going to go in there and hush it up.  Have a lovely afternoon.

JOAN  I went out to see if I could walk around a little and I turned around and came back in. No sun shining but it was very humid. We had a storm this afternoon, on TV they said we had about 2 inches of rain. I know I looked out and every thing was dry, went down to the mail room and back up, looked out and couldn't see anything. In the matter or 5 minutes the rain was hitting the windows so all I saw was wet windows.

SANDY  only once when I was at my in-laws summer place in Sacco for a week with them was it so hot that we could not cross the street and go on the beach. Even with sandals on the it was so hot we were burning our feet.

HAL  oh your poor dog, did you make her stay out side?

JANE  hope you had a good rest this afternoon.

Where is everyone.3 hours since Joan last posted and no one since. Maybe I will sleep tonight. After more than 2 hours last nigh of trying to get to sleep I got up and finished a book I was reading. Have a good night everyone.

We don't seem to have the hot
Summer this year that we have had in the past.
Of course the Summer is not over yet,  and
things could change.

Unfortunately,  it has been a very dry Summer
and not that great for gardening which requires a
lot of watering..

I,too am going to hit the hay......has been a long day and frustrating at times. Dealing with hospital that is too busy,Dr and nurse. Tomorrow should be a better day
Welcome home JeanneLee

Gloria we are in such need of rain here...grass is still very crispy underfoot.Every now and then you will hear a tree whistle for a dog to come by  :2funny:

Gloria, can't find another with the bedroom door... not in this price bracket & size.  I am
waiting for answers from Ford, the tire people insist Ford put the tires on & at fault &
they only replaced same type.  That makes sense if they thought the stems were wrong,
doesn't it?  Where is common sense these days?  Stay cool~

JaneS, I certainly thought when I bought this new RV that would end all the expense
since everything would be under warranty.  Wrong!  My little Rialta was 16 years old so
I was convinced it would be in a constant need of repairs & replacement, this RV was
supposed to end all those problems plus more room for cats.

Jeanne Lee, a special welcome home to you.  Hope you get back to your peppy self quick.
Sounds like you got very good care.

Hal, I can't imagine a worst happening that skunk spray on your best friend in this heat.  So
whose car took the pup to the groomers?   ::)

Heat index 108 again today, that rain created a fine steam bath for Kansas!  I never did hear
how many inches we got this past week, more than I've seen in the 30 years at this house.

Sun

Been trying to get back in for over an hour,,,too tired now, to talk.

Been gone for weeks..one hand still in bandage .,, so its hunt and peck.

Behind on all news  ...   will try to read back a little ways.

Sun

halkel

Hey, Sun is back.  Welcome home Sun.  Great to see you back, when you get a chance give us all the news.

My pup went to the groomers in my wife's car.  And yes, my wife let her in the house and it almost run us out.  But we survived.

Nite everyone, God bless.

Beverly

Sun - Glad to see you back! You have been missed!

June Drabek

Not a good day for me. Took a fall in the Apt...nothing bad happened, just my pride is angered. I had three people from the clinic in my door inside of minutes. I was already up and sitting in my recliner, but the nurse took my B.P. and pulse anyway...all was good.

I'm feeling a bit weary tonight and some sore areas...nothing serious, just ready for an early bed. See you all on the morrow, hugs, Love and Prayers, June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Shirley

Bedtime but had a nap so got things to do... like laundry.  So happy to see you, Sun, have missed you.  Takes longer to jump back that it did 50 years ago, right?  Can you believe we are getting old?  This is not what I expected, how about you?  Somehow my DNA doesn't lean to being the dignified little old lady I pictured becoming.   :crazy2:  Take it easy, we need your sense of humor in here.  :bravo: :cheer:

Oh, so sorry, June!  Don't let your pride get in the way.... we fell when we were young & didn't think anything about it, right?  I am so impressed with the care you get there....  so much to do.  Glad your BP was good, those meds are to gear you down so have to be more careful to not rush.  I used to tell my husband that "he needed to go along with the slower life and they should have done a lobotomy to adjust his brain to go with the body."  Hope you aren't too sore tomorrow.   :bestwishes:

Amy, never heard that one before..." Every now and then you will hear a tree whistle for a dog to come by...." obviously every time a dog cocks its leg, is a welcome drop of water.... ;D

Good early Friday morning.....

We might have ourselves a busy day ahead, re, several different workmen, could all turn up together....The plumber, to fit our new wooden bath panel, the carpet man to lay the office carpet, and the electrician to put up our living room ceiling lights...our bathroom and office are side by side of our long corridor.....We will have our workload cut out, we are to disconnect the computer and move the rather large and heavy office table out of the room before carpet man arrives....we are not even sure it will fit out through the door.....R will then have to set up the computer again, as long as he knows which cables and connections go where, but your guesses are as good as mine....If you dont see me posting in here, you will know why, let us just hope it doesn't come to that, otherwise I wont be a happy bunny....Things wont be happening till afternoon so I shall be in to make further postings, if all goes to plan, depends on how early R wants to make a start with his dismantlings and movings....

Sun, welcome back, its sure good to see a post from you this morning....

Shirley, saying a good morning or a goodnight to you....we both posted at the same time....Ha ha, old age is only for those without good health and money to enjoy life with, to the full....

Junedrabek, even if we consider a fall not a bad fall, it still hurts our pride, doesn't it? I have now got a beautiful " shiner " of a bruise on the outside of my lower good leg, from the night-time fall I took last week.......I am so glad you are in a place where help soon arrives, as and when needed....

Halkel, thank heavens we dont have skunk problems here in UK, we dont even have skunks, never even seen one in a zoo, let alone smell one....
  :o

Good Friday morning, Everyfriend.   There's Cherry Toaster Strudel to accompany your coffee or tea. Make it a good day!!

Stolen License Plate

When my wife and I were vacationing in the eastern part of our state, our car's license plate was stolen. We planned to go to a local office for a replacement, but then we discovered that our registration had expired. The new one was at home in a pile of mail. After much thought, we came up with a solution. Taping a sign over the empty license plate space on the rear of the vehicle, we made the eight-hour trip home safely. Not a single state trooper stopped us, but many passing motorists took great pains to honk and wave at us.

Our sign read "Just Married!"

Food For Thought

Distractions of Modern Civilization
(By A.W. Tozer in "Of God and Men")

"Modern civilization is so complex as to make the devotional life all but impossible. It wears us out by multiplying distractions and beats us down destroying our solitude, where otherwise we might drink and renew our strength, before going out to face the world again. "The thoughtful soul to solitude retires," said the poet of other and quieter times; but where is the solitude to which we can retire today? "Commune with your own heart upon your bed and be still," is a wise and healing counsel; but how can it be followed in this day of the newspaper, the telephone, the radio and television? These modern playthings, like pet tiger cubs, have grown so large and dangerous that they threaten to devour us all. What was intended to be a blessing has become a positive curse. No spot is now safe from the world's intrusion. The need for solitude and quietness was never greater than it is today. What the world will do about it is their problem. Apparently the masses want it the way it is, and the majority of Christians are so completely conformed to this present age that they, too, want things the way they are. They may be annoyed a bit by the clamor and by the goldfish-bowl existence they live, but apparently they are not annoyed enough to do anything about it."
