June, vets and some experts have long since concluded that indoor cats may get an excess build up of the prey instinct which is high in cats, and this is a way to release it.

What Pet Pride knew is this. She was found out in the brush, three miles from the nearest road. She was taken to Animal Control which is a 48 hour only shelter before the animal is killed, if there is a collar, tags or embedded device, then they will hold the animal for 96 hours and then kill it.

They do inform rescue agencies and Pet Pride of the animal intakes. Pet Pride took the cat after some people in Anchorage, who had microchipped Farrah were called and told Animal Control that they had sold the cat long ago and were not interested in having her back.

There is no way of knowing how she ended up across the mountain ranges, 400 miles north and out in the bush. Someone brought her here and either they or someone else took her out and dumped her. Cats are notorious for having no sense of direction so she may have wandered quite a bit.

The original microchip listed her birthdate of September 2012, so she is four years old or thereabouts. Her given name was Lucy which I changed to Farrah. Pet Pride gave her a new microchip and a foster family. As I understand it, the foster family had both dogs and cats and a three-year-old who kept bugging Farrah, so they put her in the bathroom for four months. When she came to me, she was scared of everything, withdrawn and wanted only a deep, dark, place to hide. We are only just beginning our journey.

I am supposed to ready at eleven for brunch out, and it is 10:18 now so I better get started!

Patricia, thank you for the history on Farrah. She certainly had some tragedy in her background, and you are helping her to heal. Thank you.

Good Saturday HELLO to my EVERYFRIEND.

I am not sure when I posted last, but no matter what I am behind.

It has been eventful around here....I could not get in here on my iPad.  My computer is not working and Bob's laptop is now kaput!

Vail/Chicago son and boys were here Wednesday afternoon.  We met the Dr. Dave Family at the pool for dinner and the cousins were able to play together. Went back to Dave's and the kiddos had S'mores on the fire pit....then it was time for goodbye's.  We came home and got the boys to bed...chatted a bit and helped Kurt get things lined up for a very early escape for their LONG drive home.  They left at 4AM and arrived in Chicago at 9 PM, all local Denver's DMT.  With the two big dogs it is not easy to spend the night in a motel, so he just chose to get the drive done.  I was a basket case all day long, but litterly collapsed when he called to say they were there safely.  He did keep us updated on the drive as he went along.

We have been watching the British Open and feeling so happy about my guy, Lefty.  He is doing very well.  Looking forward to watching tomorrow!

GLORIA de, sorry to read about your boo boo....so glad your neighbor took you to the ER, so you could be taken care of.

JOAN, happy to read your family is there to see you and getting their belongings out of your garage.  How are they liking Fairhope?

JANIE, enjoy the last few hours of time with your visiting family.

MARYANN, good to read that you are doing Bette.  So glad Tom is there to help you out.

Good night, JACKIE.  Rest well.

I had a little nap and since then Linda and Ed have been in and out twice.

June--Linda and Ed moved to Fairhope, Alabama--the same town where Joe, Kate and Finlay live.  I won't see much of them since it's a 10 hour drive.

Jenny--They really like Fairhope, but have had many costly repairs to make since moving in.  For example--the ceiling in the walk in pantry fell in.  And that's just one incident.  They are going after the sellers for "failure to disclose".

It is now 3:40 and we are in the midst of a lightning and thunder event and now we are getting a nice shower.  We just had a momentary lose of power but didn't shut down the computer.

Patricia, I don't think anything else would happen to your Social Security other than the deduction for Medicare.  I hope your aches and pains lessen  as the day goes on.
Farrah certainly had a rough life before you got her.  No wonder she was so frightened.

Jenny, that is a long drive for Kurt and family.  Nice he could keep you updated on their drive.  Glad to see you once again can post.
Joan, hope you can spend maximum time with Linda and Ed.  You didn't mention Findley.  Is he visiting also.  It sounds like you will have increased space in your garage, which I know we all can use.

June, glad you are enjoying the cooler weather than you had in Hemet.  We are also a bit cooler here today.

JaneS

We got a lot done at Cathy's new house today.  She changed her mind 3 times about curtain rods for the bedrooms and we made two trips to WM to exchange them.  I brought half of the curtains home to shorten tomorrow and when I take them back, I'll bring the rest of them home to shorten.  Each window has one curtain so they don't feel like they're living in a fishbowl and I only have half of them so I don't feel overwhelmed.  Actually, shortening is a pretty easy job.

Now I'm home for the evening.  Cindy is going to be visiting with some of her high school friends and Courtney is hanging out with one of her cousins on the other side and one of her cousins and an uncle and aunt on this side.  I don't know when they'll be back but they both have a key so I'm not going to worry about it.

Going to go feed the doggies and myself now and then watch a bit of TV (probably through my eyelids).  I missed my nap today!

Larry--Finlay belongs to Kate and Joe and they will be visiting in two or three weeks.  Linda and Ed have Grant and Audrey--grown and out on their own.

Janie--Nice of you to help at Cathy's new house and to bring curtains home to shorten.   With no nap I'll bet you will sleep well tonight.

JOAN, so happy to read that your Finley will be visiting in a couple of weeks.  Sorry to read about the problems that Linda and Ed have encountered....yikes, having a ceiling fall!  Do they live anywhere near to where Joe's home is?  That area will always be special to us, having a family reunion there and it being the last time we all saw Bob's Dad.  My boys tell stories about being there quite often.  It was a nice experience.

JANE, how nice that you can help with the shortening of the curtains.

LARRY, I fuss at Kurt for the straight through drives, but Bob and I used to do the same thing every year when we went to Florida to visit his family.  Limited vacation time was our reason.

I just returned from my brunch out with friends, not something I can afford to do a lot of but it was interesting and nice to get together with friends.

This place is one of the restaurants in a local hotel. It's the type where waiters carry napkins over their arms and you need a reservation. The Sunday brunch is locally famous and you almost need to donate blood to get in.

But today was nice. A server carved prime rib, other meats, vegetables, rolls, several salads, garnishes and what not. But I had a craving for fruit and there was a small table devoted to that alone. Grapes, apples, cherries, oranges, peaches, papaya and pears to only name a few. I loaded up and almost expected the server to ask if I needed a bag with that? Ruth, one of my friends was astonished that I didn't want prime rib.

And yes I came home with a small selection of whole fruit. At the price of the brunch, I didn't feel the least guilty and I had ice water rather than wine so felt quite virtuous actually.

Bis, it is nice your family wants to be near one another. Our Grandson Ryan and his family are the only ones not in the state of Ca. but I am happy for them being in a small resort town in Idaho. My other Grandson and is wife life moved to an area near Hemet, and they are all content with where they live. Dori of course misses the little ones in Idaho, but she plans to see them at least twice a year.

Larry, I miss the summer showers in Mn. where I grew up, it always left thing so nice and fresh and everything such a deep green color. And the coolness is always welcome, I know.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Kinda slow in here tonight, isn't it?  Everyone must be wilted!  I'm waiting for Cindy to come home from her visit with friends.  Her BESTEST friend called everyone she could reach and invited them to her house so Cindy could see everyone at the same time.  I thought that was very nice of her.

As soon as she comes back and we have a chance for some last hugs and conversation, I'll be off to bed so I'll say...

Good Night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one.

And I will turn out the light again~  Been a long HOT week with too much going on to even talk about.  I am ready to cave in but hopefully will bounce back after some sleep.  I have a cough that won't stop, nothing like it since I was a kid & had bronchitis.  The need to "clear the throat" goes into deep, rattling cough that goes on until I am gagging.... not a pretty sight.  This goes on 24/7 & my whole body is sore from the constant hacking.  No clue what started it.  Monday I will try to visit the Dr... Hope I'm not contagious, I thought it was allergy related so been out & about.  Maybe I need to change my name to Typhoid Mary.  Enough, coughing out of control.  Good night to all, sweet dreams and God Bless.

Vanilla-Jackie

Joan, if you can, take some photos of your Finlay and if Kate and Joe allow,..... please post one on here, .....would love to see how your " little " boy has now grown....I think we will all be in for a shock...
