Well, I learned something this morning. Did you know that Rattan is a climbing palm? I didn't know it was a palm, let alone that any palms could be climbing.I actually thought Rattan was a kind of bamboo. Raphia (Raffia) is another member of the climbing palms.

They can also climb, but sometimes they just stay in lower bunches (this is not scientific, but learned by growing -- or maybe it's just a childhood memory?).
