Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Anyone needs to update their transportation?  NOW is the time!     :2funny:

Mary Ann

Patricia, I should have known those birds were swans; we had a couple on our pond one year.  The owners lived here and put them on the pond.  They had said there would be a bubbler in the winter for them to get water but I think there was none.  However, there was snow and they got along fine - until my do-gooder neighbor called the Humane Society about there being no water so the HS came out and "rescued" them.  The owners retrieve the swans but did not bring them back.  While they were here, it was fun to watch a swan walk along our patios and look into the walk-out sliders as if to say "can so-and-so come out to play?"  They were like Big Bird of Sesame Street, only white, not yellow.

Patricia, I enjoyed all your pictures.  Interesting about the pond at different times of the year. Up the Island they have a lake that drys up every 7 years. then the water come s back.

Mary Ann

Bubble, you're a bit late with that mode of transportation; I needed it Monday night.

Mary Ann

so_P_bubble

Yes but now, being later, they are at reduce cost! lol

Angel. I can see now when looking at your photo's just why my friend daughter and husband hated to leave that area after living there and teaching school for 30 years. Looks good place to live. They had to come home to take care of parents.  Now they live in Wyoming and so still in a pretty wild place.

Love the photos, Patricia..... the wildlife and woods.  Man just can't create anything to compare (in my mind).

Bubble, I do hope you don't mind if I "snag" your photo.... my oldest son is always teasing his sister about "hopping on her broom" to do something.  I've never seen such a cute idea, know it will give them a giggle.

I finished up the bedroom in the RV... what a job!  Still have some stuff to bring in & then want to mop the floor & put the slide back in.  Would be so nice if I could get "from here to where ever" without the cats having to travel.  They seem to enjoy themselves once we get parked.

PATRICIA  love your photos. I remember you walking there and all the photos you posted. You never walked without your camera.

Thank you all for those kind words! I love that place! It's serenity just soothes stress and rubs along my contentment. The woods, animals, birds, and waters seem to settle something deep inside of me. It is one place I can get to on my own as well, needing no assistance from friends busy in their own lives. Sometimes I wish I could go further or they had a shuttle bus. But that would defeat the purpose of a sanctuary, wouldn't it?

And Bubble, I too snagged your photo. I've been looking about for some new transport!

I have been wanting to put a photo on all day but Photobucket has been out of action, due to maintenance.....This exact time yesterday evening 5.40pm, ( UK ) time, we had to let our Benji go....to say my heart is broken is an understatement...

You'll meet me
in the light
~ Author Unknown

I know that you can't see me,
but trust me I'm right here.
Although I'm up in heaven,
my love for you stays near.

So often I see you crying,
many times you call my name.
I want so much to lick your face
and ease some of your pain.

I wish that I could make you see
that Heaven indeed is real.
If you could see me run and play
how much better you would feel.

But our loving God has promised me
that when the time is right,
you'll step out of the darkness and
meet me in the light....

Jackie I can only say You and Benji are in my thoughts and prayers.

so_P_bubble

Thinking of you, Vanilla.

Shirley

Jackie, you know how I feel about our fur-family and how sad I am for you & Richard.  My heart is still so sad about Jack having to give up Jessie and now your Benji.  I do think it is more difficult when we have these holidays coming..... My mother died Nov. 25 so that is in the back of my mind the whole month, I have that heavy heart feeling.

People that don't have pets really don't understand how hard it is to give them up.  We are with them every day of every week and sometimes we didn't see our human family for months at a time...... "loving is loving"..... Be watching for the photo of Benji.  Love the poem, in my world, Heaven is where we will find everyone we ever loved so lots of hugs and kisses when that time comes.

Bubble, I saw where Don is having problems in his usual "Santa" season with malls not wanting to make waves for Christmas.  I am SO indignant.... in all my life we've had people around of religions other than Christian and NEVER ever had anyone objected to each others traditions.... so I made myself a promise that I won't shop anyplace that bows to pressure of being "politically correct".   Having a father that was a 32nd Degree Mason and mother that was Catholic..... I grew up with the belief people were just people and we enjoyed all holidays that anyone celebrated!  I know this must be a shock to Don, he is in his prime with that white beard!

Still haven't had time to work with photos, spent the day clearing out the bathroom that has the leaky faucet.  I had stacks of clothes from the RV & more that I didn't take.... summer & winter since we had 80s over the week end.  Needed to clean out some of the cabinets to make room for stuff sitting on the vanity, been a slob lately since nobody ever sees MY bathroom.... but son is going to come by when he gets through with his classes (never know when a student wants some after class advice).... to see if it is a small job putting in an "o" ring or behind the wall & a major plumbing/bathroom make over.  My excuse for not showing you the photos from the last trip.

Jackie, know beautiful Benji was a joy, and understand how you now feel.  Keep the happy memories.

Vanilla, what a really beautiful dog, such a lovely coloring and kind looking.

so_P_bubble

Shirley, thanks for your comment.  That one-mind set of thinking makes my blood boil!

JeanneP

A beautiful dog. Sorry for you loss. Glad he had such a good life and for 13 years. This is number 4 dog passing this past 3 weeks. Family and friends. All lived long lives. Leaving happy memories.

So many wonderful photos since I last posted......

Sandy - Fi is adorable in the pumpkin!

Jean - Those are fantastic Halloween decorations! Nothing that elaborate here.

Angelface - I enjoyed all the photos of Alaska.

Jackie - Beautiful photos of Benji! I love his coloring and that long, silky tail.  I can see why trips to the groomer's were so important.

Jack - Still keeping you in my thoughts...Jessie was your constant companion.  :(

angelface555

Jackie, in your post#1903, second photo, you can see the collie in Benji, especially in his head and nose. I know you miss him and I am so sorry for your pain but that shows how much love you had and Benji knew that.

Vanilla-Jackie

Yes I loved him to bits...

Thank you all so much re, your warm comments, re, our beautiful baby Benji, they are very much apreciated....yes he was a very SPECIAL dog who will be very much missed by his two owners....

Unlike jack wv, we have a ten day wait before we go to collect his ashes and bring him back home to us ( and our other now departed two, Petra and Megan, who too, are both waiting,) where he belongs...

Mary Ann

Jackie, how is Toby taking the loss of Benji?

Mary Ann

MARY ANN....
...That's the hardest part, WE know what has happened to Benji, WE know where he is, WE know that he wont be ever coming back, apart from his ashes box, but never in the form that we nor Toby knew....how can you explain to another dog all this, you can't.....You asked a question, in all honesty I cant yet answer as Toby is a completely different dog to our Benji....When I am up and about early in the mornings Toby does not, is not, a dog who comes to greet me, nor wags his tail as if he is happy to see you, nor even will get up from his corner of the sofa....Oh I will sit by him and give him a stroke, can never seem to get up close with a cuddle, he often gets down and goes into Rs bedroom and lays beside him, so sad to say, Toby is not a " me " dog.....Same as when R brings him back from his walk, he doesn't get excited to come look for me, as if to say, mom I am back, like our Benji always did.....Our Benji was a real lovable character....Toby only ever really played with soft toys when he knew Benji had hold of one, Toby does go pick up a Nylabone bone and happily will chew on that till he gets bored.....I think the time that will hit Toby the most is like this evening when I go to my monthly MS social meet-up for a couple of hours...of course we were always greeted by the two dogs at the door barking with excitement as we walked in...I would always say, mommy needs a wee first, and had to make a beeline for the loo, then Benji would follow, not Toby, and pucker up for a kiss...Guess time will tell, I shall be looking for the signs and in the meantime, give him some special hugs, if he will let me...

Mary Ann

Jackie, that is so sad for you.  Perhaps in time Toby will realize Benji will not be there and he might be more friendly with you.  I'm not going to suggest another dog for you, unless it would be an older dog, because of your physical condition.  I do think another dog would help your mental condition - the sorrow of losing Benji - but your health is your #1 priority.

I feel sad for you.

In town this morning and stopped on the river front, the Ohio River.  The chairs were inviting but only 50 degrees.

Still visit Oglebay  almost every day.  Nothing new but did spot this group off in the distance.

JACK WV.....
...Oglebay holds many good memories for you, I sense that is where you feel the closest to your darling furbabies...It is a very special place......Oglebay also looks so tranquil, serine and picturesque, who wouldn't want to be taking some quiet and personal walks through those scenic grounds, and what better time of year to do it, with the ever changing colours of the leaves....Now as for those chairs...living in a colder climate as of UK, I wouldn't have bypasted them, but rested myself for a few moments along with my private thoughts..
