I knew you would jump on that.  The names are identical and "W" is pronounced like a "V" in German, hence Ludwig.  However, if you wanted to argue that Beethoven was of Belgian descent and Ludvig is the Scandinavian equivalent of Ludwig , thereby rendering my submission as ineligible, then I suggest that a judicial inquiry be convened in order to resolve this most contentious matter.
