Joanie, sorry your nap was interrupted.  Mine wasn't and I slept until Annie told me (in no uncertain terms) that she had to go out.  I have supper in the oven.  Mrs. Paul's Tilapia filet, a baked potato and home frozen corn from last summer.

I have one of those, As Seen on TV egg scramblers.  And you can add anything you want to as many as 3 eggs as long as it doesn't come up past the line.  I like the shape of yours better but when my Grandniece was getting ready for college last year, she asked me if we had them and I thought that was a good gift for her.  When I got hers, I got myself one and it works pretty well.

I've been looking at those electric egg sandwich makers but decided that I don't need one of those.  I do pretty much the same thing with eggs and bacon or eggs and sausage and have a few to freeze when I do them.

I have to go turn over the fish filets.  Enjoy your evening, Everyfriend!

Lloyd--Yummy.  I'll get a slice of that warm bread out of the hidey hole.  Thanks.

Amy--:)

Janie--Glad you had a good nap.  Your supper sounds tasty.  I'm not buying any more of those electric gadget small appliances.  I found I use them for a short time and then abandon them.

Hi dears, I can't believe I did it again...forgot to come in and post this morning. As of yesterday, I got involved in cleaning up paper work, toss some, organizing other.I did go down for Bible study. a fellow named Jeff Davis spoke to us, and he was SO inspiring. It was a worthwhile hour, I hope he comes back again.  Had lunch at home and again spent close to three hours napping. The body must need the rest, because I sleep all night long too. Doing fine with the water intake, so I hope the next blood test shows an improvement on the sodium level.

You all sound great and enjoying you new egg cooking methods. Nothing like the "incredible, edible, egg."

I am eating supper at home today. must use up some of the stuff I ordered online. And now it is time to "chow down". See you all later. June

It was a busy day today for me and I rarely have such days.  I had a dental appointment this morning for cleaning.  But when the dentist checked me over when the hygienist was finished, he suggested I have a crown put on one of my teeth so I'll think about that for a few days before I decide when.  My next appointment was with the optometrist who ordered new glasses for me.  I think I'm spending more money these last months of the year than I spent the first nine months!    From there, Tom and I picked up Dot and went to lunch.  This was our usual family Wednesday lunch out and the cast of characters changes each week.  We have up to seven who might attend.  Tonight Tom's daughter, Annie, was here and she and her dad were going out for pizza and invited me, so I went along.  I don't know the last time I had four things going in one day.

It's a good thing it's almost time for bed!

Mary Ann

June Drabek

Had supper, did a few odd dishes, and I am wiped out. I have got to get to bed. See you in the a.m., God willing and the "creek don't rise". I love you all. June

CHUCKLES

Daily Planet

Due to budget constraints, the Board of the Daily Planet advised Perry White that he had to let one of his star reporters go. He was really overwhelmed about the magnitude of the decision. "Who should go, Clark or Lois?" He actually did some praying, which he hadn't done for a long time. He asked, "Please. Show me a sign." That afternoon he was doing some shopping at Walmart, and when he went to his car he suddenly saw the answer.

The next day he called Clark and Lois into the office and said, "I'm sorry, Lois, but you have to go." After Lois collected her things and left, Clark took Perry aside and asked, "Chief - how did you know which one of us should go?" Perry said, "Well, that turned out to be easier than I thought. While I was parking at Walmart, I looked up and there was the sign: FIRE LANE."

Food For Thought

One Out of Ten

By Sergei Sosedkin
Scripture Reading: Luke 17:11-17

He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked himâ€"and he was a Samaritan.
Luke 17:16
We all know what it means to be unappreciated. A loving mother is hurt when a delicious meal she has prepared for her family is taken for granted. A worker is disappointed when his initiative and extra effort go unnoticed by his supervisor. A friend feels used when her help isn’t acknowledged.
During his teaching ministry Jesus was often unappreciated too. In today’s verses we read of Jesus healing ten men who had the disease of leprosy, for which sufferers became outcasts. Leprosy made people “unclean,” and doctors had no cure for it. Jesus sent the men to the priests so they could be declared “clean” and become part of their community again. But only one of the ten came back to thank Jesus. In a gesture of humility, “he threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him.” The other nine simply got what they wanted from Jesus and moved on.
It’s ironic that the only grateful person was a Samaritan. The Jews viewed Samaritans as greatly inferior, both physically and spiritually. But this foreigner genuinely praised God while the others went their own way.
When we call out to Jesus for his grace and mercy, he saves us. But then what do we do? Do we go about our lives forgetting the Savior? Or do we throw ourselves before him, thanking and praising him?
Father, thank you for teaching us about the spiritual dangers of an ungrateful heart. May we be reminded by your Spirit again and again of the salvation you have given us in Christ. Amen.

...bless you for seeing my post, re, Benji's ashes, and thank you for your comforting reply.....Yes, I may have been umming and arrhing as to whether we took him to soon, but at least we nipped it in the bud before it done its utmost damage...... It was only a matter of time, as I am sure as I can be that on that fateful day he was acting differently and that was the right timing..
JOAN.....

Good morning everyone.

I slept in..good job I did get up or I would look like a flounder...both eyes on one side of my head!!

My job today will be to do applesauce as we picked up 2 bushels of apples, one for here and one for my daughter in lover to do.

Jackie, that was the right and only decision you could make and the best for Benji,no more pain and suffering for him. Just dwell on all the lovely memories you have tucked in your heart of him and I am sure they will put a smile on your face and make your heart smile too!

Lloyd, good luck at the VA.

Joan, that you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  If the weather hold out today, I think I'll begin raking leaves.  I'm setting myself a bag a day for each day I don't work.  Maybe I'll have them finished by the time it snows the first time.  Or maybe I won't.  I'm still planning to bake some of the cookies that are rolled and in the fridge.  I need to find out if they are up to snuff.

Jackie, I remember bringing doggie ashes home also but I think I already told you that what helped me most was knowing that wasn't really Callie/Bonnie in that decorative tin.  They are both truly in my heart.  Keep that thought if you can.

I slept in a bit this morning.  We didn't get up until almost 7 and the doggies need their breakfast now.  I'll check in later to see what Everyfriend has been up to.

Lloyd, good luck with your checkup!

PS..Good Morning Amy!

Vanilla-Jackie--And that was good.

Good morning, Lloyd.  I hope you receive a good report at the VA.

Amy--Good morning.  Ha, Ha about the flounder.  Please put some of that homemade applesauce in the hidey hole.

Good morning, Janie.  Good luck raking leaves.  When our children were young they thought it was fun to help make big leaf piles and then jump in them.  When they got older--not so much.:)

Hi everyone on a bright sunny Thursday morning.  In a little bit I will leave to go to the lab at the University Hospital to have blood drawn in preparation for a routine doctor visit next Tuesday. I plan to stop on the way home at Aldi's to replenish the vegetable bin in the refrigerator.  I am not planning on going to coffee this morning as most of the men are on a tour to Branson, Missouri and the fellow I pick up suggested we just skip going this morning.  I didn't argue as it better fit into my plans for the morning.  Nothing else on the calendar for today.

Last evening there was a large crowd at the dinner at church.  The VA brought over 10 veterans from the spinal unit, who were all in wheelchairs.  Several aides were with them.  We also had several rescue or comfort dogs and their owners present, which was a nice touch.  Marilyn, I thought of you and Freckles when I saw the dogs.  We even got to pet one of them.

Lloyd, glad you found a new bread machine.  I hope you get a great report at the VA today on your surgery.

Joan, I liked your Chuckles and the reading today. I am doing the Sunday School devotional this next Sunday and I think I will use today's reading as it is most appropriate for this Thanksgiving season.

Jackie, we do our best at the time we make important decisions and then it is best that we do not look back.  You know in your heart that you did a most loving thing for Benji.

Amy, is sure wouldn't be the best thing to have both eyes on one side of your head.  Glad you slept in!  :)

Good morning!  Sorry I haven't posted here lately but have been busy with lots of end of the year matters to take care of.  Yesterday I decided I just needed to "get out".  It was a beautiful day....in the low 70's, sunny, and the fall foliage is still beautiful.  Some leaves have fallen but there are a lot to come down yet.  I went to the library and just took my time browsing instead of the usual "in and out" visit.  Chatted with the librarian about the up-coming move to a new regional library in 2018.  It is necessary but I'll miss our smallish, cozy, and friendly library when the transition is made.  We had lunch at a nice little "breakfast and lunch" restaurant that is not far from where I live.  I had a Cobb salad that was delicious.  They make their own Bleu Cheese dressing and it is exceptional.  Then on to the Walgreen's drug store where the pharmacist gave me an updated TDAP shot for tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough, which unfortunately is making a comeback amongst children.  He was in a mood to chat and we talked over all the changes in the medical community that have occurred in our town over the last many years.  Everyone I met was in a "mellow" mood and so the day was enjoyable and though I was tired when I got home I felt refreshed.

Oldiesman made the transition of this site to a new server overnight and it appears to have gone well.  Thanks for taking care of us, Michael.  And thanks, Joan, for the "Food for Thought".  Very appropriate for this time of year.  I, for one, need to say "thank you" for all my blessings more often.

It is my hunter/gatherer day so must get some breakfast and be on my way.  I need to get started on gathering ingredients for Thanksgiving dinner.....though that won't be too elaborate for just my son and me.  He has requested a baked ham with all the trimmings so that is what it will be.  I don't have Jane's talent or drive to make a pie for dessert so will ask "Mrs. Smith" to bake an apple one for us.  She is always accommodating as long as you pay her price.   ;)

Have a good one today.

Good morning, Larry.   How nice that your church group invited veterans to join you for dinner.  I am glad you can use today's Food for Thought for the devotional at church.

halkel---Good morning.  Great that you enjoy the Bible Study and breakfast at your church.

Good morning, Phyllis.  Good that you got out and about.  I love Cobb salads.  I didn't know we got moved to a new server.  Where was that information?  Thanks for the accolade.  I have no plans for Thanksgiving.

Phyllis, it's not hard to have the energy to make a couple of pies for dinner if that's ALL you have to do.  I don't have to contribute anything else.  My daughter will do all the work.

My "notify" isn't working any more and I don't know when posts are coming in.  I tried turning it on again but the "notify" button only turns it off.  if I'm missing, it's because I don't know you're there.  I really count on that feature!

Phyliis, it sounds like you had a truly beautiful day yesterday. I loved reading about it…gave me a feeling of an old friends and family neighborhood. Thank you for that.

Bis, me too…no special plans for Thanksgiving. Just very, very, thankful we are both here.

Thank you Oldiesman for all you do for us. It truly is greatly appreciated. This site has given me a new life, filled with new loving friends. I first joined way back in 1997 with a little 11Si. Happy memories.

angelface--That's the place to post about things that don't work on this site.

June--Doesn't Rowntree provide a Thanksgiving feast?  I don't remember the year I joined the old SN.  I had an old reconditioned IBM computer that my son-in-law gave me.

Fresh cookies in the Hidey Hole, fresh pot of coffee on the counter.  Help yourselves.  The cookies are a new recipe researched to use up the left over candied fruit,  also, brandied raisins, walnuts and the requisite flour, sugar, eggs and elbow grease.  Enjoy.

My first computer was what I refer to as a "hand-me-up". It first belonged to my grandson whose father was an executive at IBM Canada.  He upgraded Daniel's computer and said that getting the old one back across the border would be more hassle than it was worth so he told my daughter to just get rid of it.  She did!  She gave it to me and I thank them all and also the people who made it a hassle to transport things across borders.

Joanie, that was in 1997, the year I moved here.  My kids had a modem installed so I could get internet but that wasn't until Christmas.  So my first visit to Senior Net was in late December of 1997.  I'd read an article in AARP magazine about Senior Net and if I'm not mistaken, it was about Rae and some others who were on there.  I'd mentioned it to my kids and they took care of it for me.  Thanks to them, also.  One of the first people I remember from there was our very own JUNE.  I also remember the friendly rivalry between Norm and Poppa John.  And Robbie was also on there.  One of the happiest places I found was Bis Busy Nest!  Good Memories!
