Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Marilyn, that's great that you have your first Hospice patient already. The procedure is to inject dye into my spinal fluid and take pictures in order to more accurately show what's wrong. Then an appt afterward to hear what the neurosurgeon has to say about options.

Mary, you and me both!  Are you able to enjoy your deck now? Or is it too smoky?  We've had a lot of smoke in the Charlotte area and even down here this week.  One day was code red for air quality. Today is code orange.  Not good, but at least I don't have to be outdoors when it's like that.

Ginny, it sounds like you had a really good day and evening!  You sound a lot more upbeat.

Hi to all.  Sharon

JeanneP

MaryZ.  Daughter Julie came through on her Knee Replacement.  Dr. who did it said it came out well. Surprised she lasted with it as bad as the wear out was. Had her on it today. Did get her on it yesterday about 4 hours after doing. Thinks will be out MOnday. Boys Text me so I don't know if will go back home that day.  Her 3 sons are doing TG dinner out at the Ranch.
I glad it over. I just don't like people going under having things done.  Easier when it on myself than on KIds.  Remember when they were giving birth and I was watching. Awful.
JeanneP

maryz

I'm glad your daughter did well, Jeanne.  Please tell her I'm thinking of her and wishing her well with her rehab and PT program.  It's very hard, but SO important.

Ginny Ann, glad to hear you're getting out and about.  I know just sitting out in the sunshine is good for you (us).

We actually had a very brief shower overnight.  I hope it did some good with the fires (but haven't heard any local news this evening), but it was nice to see a little bit of wet on my deck this morning.  It's been much cooler today (high only in the mid50s) after a high near 80 yesterday.  Our Lady Mocs are playing in a tournament in Louisville this weekend, and won their game today.

Hope your teams won today.  Happy weekend, Buddies!

We just got our first snowfall of the season.  Heard the snow plow doing its job. Been playing on this computer and watching TV. My tooth has gotten back to hurting :tickedoff:  :(  Getting tired so I guess it is time to get ready for bed.

SharonE

Jeanne, understand that it's harder to watch a child go through something than to do so oneself. I discovered that when Melanie, my oldest, got cancer. She has her next CT sccan the week after TG. That will be almost 3.5 yrs since her surgery.  Anyway, so glad your daughter came through it well. I agree with Mary that the PT is of the utmost importance.

Mary, I hope you get some more rain. We have a 20% chance on TG! Nothing significant in the near future. The fires are really bad. Lots of smoke in this area even though they are a long way from us.

Ginny, snow--ugh!  I used to love it, but now it just looks cold and dangerous. Glad I'm in the south.  Oh no on your tooth hurting.  Are you sure you shouldn't see a specialist.  You've been having problems with your teeth for a long time.

Been to church and SS.  We had a hard frost last night. My birds are happy I filled the feeders & bath yesterday.  Dreading my test tomorrow but will be glad to get it over and find out what the dr. says.  Sharon

JeanneP

Not spoken to daughter today but just read her post on Facebook.  They young really seem to do everything on there.  I don't. But looks like she left the hospital for home this after noon. Sunday. That was fast. Says doing good. Got up during the night for bathroom and did not use the walker. Got into a mess she wrote. Hasn't told me yet. Has to go for PT starting tomorrow. Think they gave her pain pills to take and bet she is fast asleep now.

I am mad a myself. I decided to get new glasses in Bifocals . had just for reading for past 10 years. Got new Prescription. Spent $300 and tried to get use to wearing them for past 2 weeks.  Must have taken them off someplace and left them.No idea where. Spent all weekend checking and have gone all over the house but can't be found.  Never fails. if I buy either sun glasses and now reg. ones that don't cost much will have them for years. Pay more and loose in short time. So now back to my readers.  Will have to get them made again. (Then I will find the lost pair).
JeanneP

GinnyAnn

We have snow on the ground. Winter started early this year :(  I have been inside today.

I hope everyone is doing okay.

Please say a prayer for Ray and me for strength to get through the coming holidays.

maryz

Ginny Ann - hate the thought of snow, but it is chilly here.  Lots of hugs for you and Ray.

Jeanne, glad your daughter is doing well.  Youth really does help a lot.  Sorry about the new glasses - I wear mine all the time, so they never get lost.  LOL

Not much in the news about the fires here, so I guess they're mostly contained (if not out).  One of the largest ones in the area is in a national forest, and is a "natural" fire (caused by a lightning strike).  They're pretty much letting it burn itself out, doing what fires are supposed to do in nature - clear out undergrowth and allowing light to get to the ground for regeneration of new stuff.

Our Lady Mocs won again yesterday in a tournament, and will play Louisville this evening.  We're having our usual Thanksgiving on Saturday at Margaret's.  She'll come get me on Friday so I can be of some help.

Good morning, Buddies.  I don't know what I did yesterday after church (probably was lying on my bed reading a book), but didn't get here yesterday.  I did get my trash put out and took a walk before getting ready for my Sunday evening TV watching.

No snow here, thank goodness, but if it would bring moisture that would be OK.  Our drought has grown worse and we are only permitted to water for a short time between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (I've probably already mentioned this).  I still have some water in my rain barrel, so I'm watering my newly planted pansies and also my house plants from that.  My azaleas are looking terrible and I think I will lose some of them.

Mary, hurray for your Mocs win.  Our Lady Tigers won an away game, too.  I'm looking forward to the 27th--I need to call my book club friend and see if she can take me to the game.

GinnyAnn, I hope your snow is pretty, but not overwhelming with ice.  You and Ray are in my prayers.  I hope your church friends and others will be having festivities that you will feel able to participate in.  I know you are hurting.  (BIG HUGS)

Jeanne, I hope your daughter recovers quickly.  Does she have a walker or cane?  I still use my cane when I get up for the bathroom at night.  I don't want any more time in the hospital or nursing facility.

Sharon, prayers going up here for good results and some kind of resolution for your back problems.  Let us know ASAP about the results.  (BIG HUGS)

Marilyn, I hope Keith's infection has cleared up and he is feeling much better.  I know it's tough to have a sick partner.   :-[  Keep your chin up  and hopefully he'll be right at rain SOON!

I'm worried about MaryPage.  Has anyone heard from her?

Have a nice day, Buddies.
Sue

Just went to take the garbage to the curb. Cold out but the sun is shining and so will dress warm and go over to the library.  Drop off the Laundry. Got quite a load this week.  I need to take my bathroom and Kitchen rugs there tomorrow and use a washer myself. Only take a hour to was and drying. All to heavy to pay them to do it. They don't need to fancy folding like the regular laundry.

Lucky Me. I found my glasses. In the last place I thought they would be. I keep a old robe in my bathroom to just put on fast until I take out my clothes. I was getting things ready to send to the laundry today and found them in the pocket of the Robe.  I think I had just gotten out of the shower and the phone rang. Put on Ratty robe to answer and put glasses in that pocket.
I have to start watching where I put stuff. Also making a few notes if I want to remember things for later.  admit to comes with getting older

Now My Daughter in Texas had her Knee Replaced Friday. Maybe I hadn't mentioned her needing it to some people.  Seems to be doing good. Will check soon. She is taking PT in the mornings.

Hi, Babes!  I'm busy getting stuff ready for trip to Chicago for T'giving then back home to finish packing and then leaving for the South on Sunday or Monday.  I may not be in much, but don't worry.

Ray got an excellent report from the kidney doc so he's very happy and now eager to get on the road.  He really worries over this report each time.

Keith got a  pretty good report from the dr. too. The prostate is a little enlarged not bad for his age, the Catheter has been removed and he is peeing again on his own  but is now on a prescription of Flomax, darn that stuff is expensive. for 90 capsules it was $87.

I went to the podiatrist for my pedicure this morning. The Neuropathy is not only in my toes put I get those sharp pains going up my legs ankles and my left arm. I sure didn't know it could affect other places on the body until Sarah told me. Her MS has caused her to have Neuropathy.

maryz

Glad to hear that jane's Ray and Marilyn's Keith are doing well.  Now we need to hear about Sharon's myelogram.  I don't know if she'll get information about that today, or will have to wait for a few days.

There's been a terrible accident here in Chattanooga this afternoon - a school bus from an elementary school wrecked with the driver and 35 students on board.  There are known fatalities, but don't know how many yet.  There are 23 students in local hospital, but a few students walked away from the site.  Our TV station has not cut away to the national news, so I don't know if it's on there or not.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

JeanneP

MaryZ.  They are showing that bus accident here right now. Just Awful. Didn't say if it was a crash as no other car involved. Looks like a tree just cut the bus in half. Accidents can happen so fast. Not saying how the children are.
JeanneP

jane

What a horrible accident...nothing on our national news of how many children killed...just "multiple fatalities."  What a nightmare.

maryz

It was a one-vehicle accident - the bus hit a tree and overturned.  The driver was injured and, according to reports, "is cooperating with police" in finding out what happened.  We've heard, unofficially, that five were dead at the scene, and one has died at the hospital.  But they haven't said anything about the severity of injuries of the others who were hospitalized. It's just devastating.

I just read the driver was arrested, and that, as you said, 6 children died.  What a horror.

Cold and windy here, and rain to come.  My joints aren't happy, so I'm moving very slowly this morning.  I have a massage at 11:00 and a haircut at 12:45 and lots of errands to get done, but those may be this afternoon.

Cottoncandy

Probably want be here. For couple days...so will wish everyone a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving...Darlene

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

This the latest news I've seen about the crash yesterday.  My heart aches for the families and the community.

Hi Gals, Our news was full of the bus accident last night. Just horrible! You think your kids are safe on a school bus.

I got home about 5:00 yesterday and was just exhausted with all the tests and the driving. Traffic was horrendous and in the old part of downtown Charlotte where we got lost 3 or 4 times!  Anyway, after the tests, etc were finished we drove to the Dr's office for the results. He said my spine is just full of arthritis, but that there is nothing he can do. He does recommend that I go back to the Pain Mgt Dr and get the trial nerve stimulus thing. He says he has seen it work wonders, so guess that is my next step. I had to sit up at a 45 deg. angle till bedtime and then lie flat for 12 hours.  Consequently, I'm just now showered, dressed, and starting my day.

I wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Enjoy the food and your families.  Hugs and prayers to Ginny, Mary & Darlene who are missing family members this year.

Jane, wishing you safe travels.

Marilyn, I'm so sorry to hear that the neuropathy has gotten so much worse. Glad Keith is doing better though.

Sue, I hope you get some rain (and us too!)  Have a wonderful time at Tim's.
Sharon

Marilyn

We are either going to on of the community sponsored dinners or Imay be cooking for Thanksgiving and inviting a friend of mine from Furry Friends who lives alone her family is 3000 miles away. For now I am waiting on FedEx to deliver a new refurbished cell phone and pick up the one they sent that doesn't work in this area. Then I have to go buy a |turkey. I  got a $9. off coupon for a Jenny-O  12-14 lb turkey at the Grocery Outlet.

This morning I got my little Christmas tree put up and decorated leaving a place for the cats to lay down on the table next to the tree, They like to be on that table to look out the window.

Sherry my spine is also full of arthritis. But I do get relief from the Chiropractor.

maryz

Sharon, I know you're glad to have that over with, but sorry there's no magic fix for you.  Sounds like it's going to be worth a try with the nerve stimulus machine.  Gentle hugs from over here.

I had a PT session here this morning.  She says I'm doing great and wants me to start walking with a cane in the apartment more and more - and even try in the hall for a little bit.  I asked her if she thought I'd be released to drive.  She suggested I try going to sit in my car - to see if I was going to be able to get in, manipulate the mechanics, etc.  I'll give that a try - maybe when Margaret comes to pick me up on Friday (so I can have someone with me).

It's quiet around here this week, with many folks spending time with families.  I hope all have a good holiday.

Good late afternoon, Buddies.  My every two week cleaning service was here about 9:15 this morning.  I took my morning walk after they got started and fortunately they were finished by about 10:40.  They always send the same woman and today she had a newbie she was training.  Tim came at 11:30 to take me to see the Clinical Psychologist I'm seeing for my memory loss.  My appointment was at 12:00 and he ran me through the exercises until !:00.  We went to lunch at the Pub--I had half a corned beef sandwich and a cup of potato soup.  Tim had already eaten, but also had a cup of soup.  Afterwards we went to the lawyer's office to sign the completed will.  So that is out of the way.  Tomorrow morning, I'll start preparing the pineapple gelatin salad I'll take to the Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday at Ard and Dave's house.  Tim will come over here and take me.

Mary, I'm finally walking on my own inside the house, but am walking outside with a cane every day.  I go 3 blocks down to Samford Avenue and then back up.  The going down is easier than coming back up the hill, but I can make it.  I have been told by the neurologist I shouldn't drive until sometime in 2017.  Double Yuck!  So I have to count on Tim or some of the Village Friends to take me to appointments and the grocery store.  What a tragedy about the bus wreck!  So many young lives lost.

Marilyn, I think your Thanksgiving plans--either one--sound nice and I hope you can work it out successfully.

Sharon, I know you were disappointed with the doctor's report.  I hope you can get some relief at the Pain Clinic.  The nerve stimulus trial sounds promising.  I will pray for good results for you.  And NO RAIN is in the forecast!  We are under drought watering conditions.  I'm not using my city water to keep my pansies going--I still have water in my rain barrel and will use it until it's all gone.  The city sent out cards about watering--I can use city water between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, but I will not water anything except the pansies.  My azaleas are hurting!

Darlene, I'm guessing you are traveling to visit with family.  Have a safe trip and enjoy your family.

Jane, you can send some of that rain over here, please!  I'm sorry your joints are hurting and hope the massage helped.

It's time for the evening news, so I'll just wish everyone a good evening.  Has anyone heard from MaryPage?

Sue

maryz

Sue, I e-mailed with MaryPage last week.  She's okay - just backing out from her computer stuff for a while.  I'm hoping she'll be back with us sometime.

GinnyAnn

Sure hope you get some rain soon Sue!

All is the same here. We plan on going to a TG meal at one of the service clubs.  Instead of bring the food back here we plan on eating with the community.

I feel so bad for the families who lost children in the bus incident.

jane

Happy Thanksgiving, Every Buddie!

Marilyn

I am going to cook for TG. I have invited my friend Ingrid from the Furry friend group to have dinner with us. She is alone and her children live 3000 miles away. I have all the fixin's. I will start the bird before I go over to the hospital to visit patients with Freckles, I already baked the pumpkin pie this morning.

I am going to see if I can go visit my hospice patient  sometime today, I ahve to call the Memory Care center  to ask when it would be convenient.

JeanneP

What a mess outside. Such storms and still raining. I had my large yard professionally done and looked beautiful. Now such a mess. Doubt will get done again this winter. I may try blowing the front part if we get a nice day.

Need to go out to a appt. by 2:30. Thank goodness don't have to go out of town.
Lights now fixed on car.  Think need one tire looked at Friday. I curbed it the other day.
JeanneP

Marilyn

Bad news this morning, my dear hospice patient that I wanted to visit today  died early this morning. She would have been my first hospice visit.
