Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Joy

Jack,   that was great to watch.  She looked like a bunny rabbit hopping around in the snow.  I am sure she is missed.

Thanks for sharing.

Great video Jack. If only we had had such as Vimeo when our children growing up.

You have those of Jessie to all always remember but now you will start making new memories. It wonderful.
I was watching news today and it was showing a new book that just came out.
A young man. 43 I believe just passed. (he wrote it). its Non fiction. Didnt say how he died but he had a disability from being in the Service. This book is about he and his dog.A golden retriever that looks just like your dog. Name Tuesday. Same title of Book. which  is "Until Tuesday" Said how he passed the dog on just before he died to another man.  Take a look at the book when in the Bookstore. Sounds Interesting . Amazon have it on sale and also can read it on Book Bub on your Ipad.

Jack, left a message with the video..... great job.  I agree that the "feathers" are beautiful and you took such good care of her, never looked matted.  I'm just glad you share your "babies" with us, I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them.

JeanneP, somewhere this past week I also saw something about that book but didn't catch the title.... I'll see if I can find it on Amazon.... maybe even in the library.

JeanneP

See if you can bring this up
Book
Author:
Montalván, Luis Carlos.
Title:
Until Tuesday : a wounded warrior and the golden retriever who saved him / Luis Carlos Montalván with Bret Witter.
Edition:
1st ed.
Publisher, Date:
New York : Hyperion, 2011.
Description:
xi, 252 p. : ill. ; 22 cm.
Summary:
"Tuesday has a personality that shines. I am not kidding when I say it is common for people to pull out their cell phones and take pictures of and with him. Tuesday is that kind of dog. And then, in passing, they notice me, the big man with the tight haircut. There is nothing about me--even the straight, stiff way I carry myself--that signals disabled. Until people notice the cane in my left hand, that is, and the way I lean on it every few steps. Then they realize my stiff walk and straight posture aren't just pride, and that Tuesday isn't just an ordinary dog.
Subjects:
Service dogs -- United States.

Jack. Maybe the lady who you got Mimi from could sign up on Seniors and friends. . Be able to watch how happy the dog is prancing around the Park with you. Also see this video of Jessie. I know with Julie. Even though they are breeders they fall in love with every little puppy they have.  Julie does have a habit playing with hers and then  sad when they get picked up.  Fact she has about 3 that she has kept and now house pets.  I would be the same. My father bred dogs and I remember how mad I would get when he let someone have one.. I bred my birds and was real picky as to who got them. One just died at age 30 a few months ago. I got a Christmas card from it every year.  I sure could never have been a farmers wife.

Joy, JeanneP and Shirley thanks.   I have so little photos and film of my children growing up.  If I had the $ and cameras back then I would have a ton of photos and video.

I keep in touch with Mimi's breeder and send her photos.

The books sounds interesting, but I have not read a book in years.  I did when young, but grew irritated when I read a book and was unable to recall names and details and had to keep going back.  I have a short attention span and limit myself to short articles, computer and tv.

JACK WV....
....I enjoyed watching your clip of " young " Jessie, also of " not so young " Jessie....I fully can understand the mix of emotions....the fond and happy memories tinged with the now tears over her loss....I know you now have your Mimi, but your Mimi is not, nor ever will be your Jessie....
I truly smiled watching young Jessie hopping like a newborn lamb, or was that a bunny hop? anyway she was in her element, having real fun in the snow....

FlaJean

Enjoyed your video, Jack.  Jessie was special, but you have had some very good companions over the years.

SCFSue

Jack, your video of Jessie is wonderful.  It brought tears to my eyes.  When I met you and Jessie in the summer of 2002 after Bob died, I enjoyed the time we had together at the State Park in southern WVA--and of course I don't remember the name.  We also met and spent several days with another woman who breeds dogs--little ones if my memory is still with me.  That was a healing time in my life and I know how much you miss Jessie, and I'm sure Mimi will not replace Jessie, but will certainly fill that void in your life.

Sue

jackwv

Jackie, Jean and Sue thanks.   Sue I have lost the few photos I took back in 2002, but it was special.   The other woman may have been Rosemary, I do recall she bred Cavalier King Charles.  A neighbor has one, a lovely dog and I had thoughts of getting one, but just had to get back to my Goldens and fortunately can still handle a larger dog.

SCFSue

Jack, your memory is much better than mine now.  Her dogs were beautiful Cavalier King Charles spaniels.  I think she might have shown them in dog shows near her.  I remember that we met at a State Park near Parkersburg, WV, but could be wrong.  It was a beautiful time of year--still summer, but not too hot like Alabama is many days in the summer months.

I can't recall if I told you that I fell off a ladder while leaning out to pull leaves off the roof on my house on the last day of April this year.  Fortunately my neighbors had been working in their yard and Sandra had gone inside.  I saw Rob and called him and he saw me lying there.  He ran inside told Sandra to call the ambulance (the fire station is about 5 blocks from our neighborhood) and they were here in less than 3 minutes.  Then Sandra rode in the ambulance with me and Rob followed in their car.  I spent the next 5 hours on a gurney in the emergency room before I had an MRI and was sent to the head injury unit.

Stayed there for almost 3 weeks and had another fall at the rehab center where I was doing exercises to strengthen my legs.  So was transferred to the larger hospital in Columbus, Georgia, which was the first of 3 hospitals there.  Finally in the third hospital I had great physical therapists and although I'm now wearing a brace on my right leg and according to my neurologist, may have to wear it into next year.  I'm still not cleared to drive, but fortunately for me, my son here heard about a group of Village Friends who can take those unable to drive to grocery store, haircuts, etc.  We paid the annual fee and these folks respond to my request for transportation and pick me up when I need to go out and don't have a neighbor or my son who lives here and is busy.

I didn't mean to write a novel--just especially wanted to tell you I'm VERY HAPPY that Mimi has come to live with you.  You're a great Dog Dad!

Sue

jackwv

Sue sorry to hear about your fall, sounds like you will have a long but hopefully full recovery.
I recall you once lived near Charleston and the woman with the King Charles had a place near Berkely Springs.  Met her at Agility trials where Jessie competed, but lost touch.

I am also guilty of writing Novels, but do not post in conversational discussions since I forget names and details of so many that post.  I choose to occasionally stray from the purpose of the discussion, but am encouraged that many of us do.

Son called to tell me not to go out, snowing and roads dangerous.  So I hung up, packed up Mimi and drove to the park.  He said later he knew I would, I never pay attention to him.  Told him payback :)  Roads were clear and I liked how the snow was hanging on the trees.  We had a nice walk, but as I noted, Mimi was not smiling when I told her to sit on a large, wet, stone slab.

JACK...
...I dont think I would smile either....she was probably thinking, now why doesn't he do it too.....Our dogs are wiser than we give them credit for... ;D  bless her heart...

JeanneP

Now I wouldn't smile either. Did you sit on a cold slab? I've done it a couple times.
I just cleared all the snow off my car. Enough winter for me now.

Mary Ann

Jack, her expression is priceless and I couldn't help but laugh!  My weird sense of humor!

Mary Ann

jackwv

Jackie, JeanneP, and Mary Ann, I think you all have it right, if we were just able to read her mind. :)

Joy

Jack, you had a considerable amount of snow.   None has arrived here in my neck in the woods, yet.   Not looking forward to any, either.

Beautiful to look at in pictures.  Just not anxious to have any .

Joy I like a nice snow fall around the holidays but had one so can do without any more.   Dropping to 7 degrees tonight and bitter cold to last for several days.   Keep warm!

Mary Ann

We have plenty of snow and I'll be glad to share.  We're in the area of "lake effect" snow from Lake Michigan and as long as the water is warmer than the air, we'll get snow.  As long as I don't have to shovel -------

Kind of windy at Grand Haven - lots of whitecaps.

Mary Ann

FlaJean

Loved your video, Jack.  I love snow in photos, so pretty when it first comes down.  Stay warm.

Jack.  Julie has the puppies on her Facebook.  just type in Julie Pentecost lee. Have to go down a little.   Ended up having 8. 6 males and 2females I believe. so cute. Most sold already for pickup in Valentine time. Good timing. This is the first time for this dog. Mother/father  are beauties.
JeanneP

jackwv

JeanneP  I went to facebook and pulled up your daughters page, but all older info, possibly the settings on who can view and post.  I have problems with facebook.   Why not get a photo of the pups and post in the photo discussion.

JeanneP

Now I can bring anyone who is on Facebook as long as I am on it. Just cannot write back unless the have friended you.  I don't care for Facebook either. That is the only place she post anything anymore.  Same with all the family. it is either Facebook or Texting.  I dislike both.

Last evening Larry and I went to the Annual Christmas Display here in Niceville. The "Christmas Lady" ,as she is called, has a hugh display of various Christmas scenes. It was unbelievable. Several toy train clubs were also part of the display but it was too dark to film movies. I have put together a few photos. The children there were really enjoying it as well as the grownups.

JeanneP

Jean.  That is a great display.  I can't stand to go into the Mall or Stores at the moment but would love seeing that display.
JeanneP

Mary Ann

Jean, your area puts on a good display for holidays.  We used to have such displays in store windows when I was young, but the stores moved to the malls and no more scenes. You capture the best parts of the displays.

Mary Ann

Shirley

Jack & Jean, I left comments in both sites, you are so good to take time to share your home towns.  Great shows, both of you.  Thanks!  Shirley

FLAJEAN....
...thank you I so enjoyed that, a lot of work has gone into putting that display together...I would be very happy myself going somewhere to see that here in UK, it brings to mind the real true value of Christmas, Christmas as it should be...

jackwv

Jean that was great.  You are fortunate to have found another home surrounded with so many attractions.  Your photos and music made me feel like I was present.
