The West Coast is reporting. I had to re enlist. I lost you all and it has been a lonely day. So good to be back again. And I hope we didn't lose anyone. I am not going to say much as it is growing late and most of you are probably tucked in already. I will just wish you all a peaceful sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow. I love you much. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Shirley

I'm here!  I'm here!  Oh, what a nightmare of being locked out~   ::)   Seriously, don't you feel lost when we can't get together?  Thank you, Pat and crew, for bringing us back to life!

Now my mind is blank & I had so much to tell you.  Almost bed time so will cut this short.. well, want to make a few comments.   ;)   I don't know if my solution to getting back in works for others that can read but not post.... I tried my password, wouldn't work so I tried to change my password, used the same one that I thought I'd changed to last time things went south... and it worked.

Lloyd, beautiful baby & darling gr-daughter.  That is a big bobcat, twice the size as ones I've seen here (stuffed and one in our front yard years ago).

I still don't have all the candy on the Christmas tree.... and may as well just eat it and save all that work!   :2funny:(

Your evening out sounds very nice, Jackie.... hope you aren't too stiff & sore from the last fall.

Jane, I never could figure what I wanted to eat tonight so have been doing some serious snacking.  Now I'm hungry but will feed cats first.  Really am sleepier than hungry (remember when our kids were sleepy & thought they were hungry?  Guess this is 2nd childhood.)

Larry, I haven't tagged this Yamaha for years, we have a very busy street that we have to get on or cross to go anywhere, the house is in a "loop" that backs up to the river & as short as the Chappie is, not safe here.  But, I do think it would be nice out camping and the little towns where I go.  Don't know how those motorized lifts work but sounded like a good idea for hauling it.  Now that the RV seems to have the bugs worked out of it, I am eager to go places.  Being practical, once I check out the price of the lift, the cost of insurance & how many years I have to pay back taxes for it.... I may end up selling it, think I can get back the money spent to restore.  I have hopes of using it. Don't think there is a danger of getting a speeding ticket on it.   ;)

Thanks again to our fearless leader, Pat, and all the crew that helps keep this place running.  Hugs to all, God Bless and give you sweet dreams and a wonderful tomorrow.

Good night, June, you can turn out the light.  Love to you....Shirley

I've got the lights!  But I'm leaving the door unlocked in case someone else wanders in during the night.  Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

JANE S....
....thank you for leaving the lights on and the door unlocked and left open for me as I got up this morning...the last thing I need or want is to have another fall....especially if that cat is still loitering around.....I would just hate to have trodden on its tail in the dark...

Food For Thought

Our Never-Changing Lord
(Author Unknown)

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (NIV) Hebrews 13:8

A friend shared with me that two days this week were consecutively one of the best and one of the worst days in his life. The first day he spent gliding down a pristine river in a nature reserve on an inner tube. He soaked in the sights of a river empty of people, litter or noise, yet filled with the natural beauty of clear water, natural springs and various wildlife. As he floated along, the full impact of God's creative power astounded him and the experience drew him closer to God than he had ever been in his life. The next day was spent at the doctors undergoing a grueling series of tests literally designed to make him sick in order to determine the source of some neurological problems that have plagued him for a year.

As he shared his experiences, it became clear to both of us that the same God that was with him on the river, was with him in the doctors office. God never changes, He is the same every day. His wisdom, love, power and promises never change. The only thing that changes is our circumstances and how we let them affect our relationship with God.

Is God the same in your yesterday, today and tomorrow? Does your trust, love and worship of Him change with your circumstances? Are your songs of praise to Him the same in good times as well as bad?

Don't look to your circumstances, look to your God.

It is so good to be back on line. I will try to do a better job of reading and posting. My short term memory still is not where it should be by a long way.
I thank all of you for the good reports .  I stayed busy with chores and honey do projects and in shop getting the engine  back in my skid steer. have it in now to get it hooked up and running (will be grate) another thing I am lost with out'
feeding hay and other chores with. hope you all have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Another day, another dollar!  Which would have been my grandmother's way of saying that I'll be at work today.  Every day I pray that I get an express register.  They are just as busy but it just doesn't seem as constant as the ones where folks are checking out large cartloads of groceries.  Sometimes He says yes and sometimes He tests me with a "no".

Lloyd, I forgot to compliment you on your newest great grandchild!  You are fortunate to be able to enjoy welcoming them into the world.  I think I'm not going to be around to welcome my greats into the world.  I have 2 married granddaughters but neither seems in a hurry to be a "mommy".

I have to come home and make up a bit more of the candy.  I've come up short on a few items and I'm going to play catchup.  Last night I was still tired so all I did between napping was get out the things I need to make what I'm going to need to finish up.  Hopefully, I'll get express registers today and I'll feel like doing it tonight.  If I can get it packed, I'll truly be FINISHED!  I'd like to get the fruitcake wrapped also.  Wish me luck.  I still have packages to wrap and I'm still waiting for some items to arrive.  I've had notification that they are ALL enroute.  So my fingers are still crossed.

I hope you all have a lovely day full of everything that pleases you and people who love you!

Hi everyone on a cloudy morning but to have mixed clouds and sun this afternoon.  We are suppose to get up to 59 degrees around 3 pm.  It appears there is little chance of more rain.  The only activity on the schedule for today is our weekly dinner at church.  The menu tonight is grilled hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings and dessert.  This will be our last dinner at the church until January 4th.  Yesterday I did pick up the groceries Pat had ordered online from Walmart and also made the quick stop at Aldi's mainly for fresh vegetables.

Gloria, a word of explanation on why the site was not available for awhile yesterday.  Every website must have a unique domain name and IP address.  The domain name is paid for separately or sometimes as a part of the web hosting service costs.  These are usually yearly costs.  It is easy to lose sight of when it is time to renew by paying the additional fees due.  Once the fee was paid the domain was reinstated and we were back in business in S&F's.  Glad you had a CNA to help you get the medicine you need.  I know in Georgia and South Carolina drug stores can call another drug store and get a prescription transferred when requested by the patient and they have the prescription number.  I understand getting shorter as I used to be 5'11" but have shrunk down to 5'8".  I guess it is too many years working at a desk and at the computer and bad posture since I don't have any back problems of which I am aware.

Amy, will your husband be receiving his chemo at home?

Joan, hope you have some really quality time with Linda.  Is this a pleasure trip for her or in connection with her work?

Jackie, there are so many talented young (and older) folks in our society.  It sounds like they presented the type of show that we have in places like Branson, Missouri or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where groups may have their own theaters or local theater groups.  That was a very enjoyable video.

Lloyd, that was a strange occurrence with your computer resetting to factory condition.  Glad you granddaughter could help you get things reinstalled.  Your grand daughter must be a very good shot and that sounds like a frightening experience.  Your great grandson is a cutie and nice looking older great grandchildren as well.

Good morning everyone, goodness it is good to see everyone finally got here yesterday. Hope June did. Got an email from her last night that she wasstill unable to get in.

PATRICIA  that is about what I saw at the bottom of the page yesterday. There was a whole list of senior things to click on, like apartmentss for one.

HAL  we are all happy we weren't hijacked.

PAT  we know you are all doing your best to get us running right again.  Thank you.

JOAN  enjoy Linda's visit. Nothing like spending time with family.

LLOYD  it is a pain when you have to reinstall every thing in a computer. I had to do that 4 times with this PC that I bought in March. I did lose quite a lot. Great photo of your granddaughter. Beautiful family picture with the new baby.

JUNE  I am so glad you finally got in. I know just how you felt.

SHIRLEY  seemed like reliving the time when SN was “hacked” so they said at first. Knew Pat would not do that to us.

JOAN  never acquired a taste for any taco so will pass on breakfast.  Love today's quote. Thank you for the goodies. Spend your time with Linda. We are always here and she is not there that often.

LARRY  I just can no longer stand straight  so I think that is a that I lost those 2 inches. reason

Good morning from the Interior, I will be catching up on some chores today and messing around with PSP in between. I'm hoping everyone stays warm and enjoys their day!

I must have gotten up about 5 am and I could not get into S&F.  I went to Search and put in the name, still could not get in, so I left it until later - which is now - and I got in oK.

Tom forgot to get the mail yesterday and I think the mail has come for today.  His priorities are not the same as mine, especially when he's working, so I still am waiting.  I was told to not go get the mail as the road conditions are not good.  That sort of advice, I can take.  I am expecting a couple of packages that will come by way of USPS.  I still have not sent out any cards and I don't like to wait too long.

The cat and I just had a "love fest" which consists of him walking by my legs and rubbing against them.  The net result is my slacks are full of cat hair.

We are at 22 degrees, plus or minus, and I think we won't be much higher.

Joan, if you're still visiting with Linda, keep at it.  We can wait.

Mary Ann

Yah I go in and can post!!! Just emailed Gloria saying I could read but not post but..I wasn't signed in. Signed in and now all is well.
Yesterday VON came and cleaned hubby's PICC line and is ordering more supplies to have on hand. They will be coming two days a week to clean the line and disconnect his chemo bottle. Larry, he is getting 3 chemo meds ,two at the hospital through his PICC line and he comes home with a bottle hooked to his line. This is going to be an interesting time for us... but we will get through it.

Waltzed with the shovel this morning, only light snow so rather enjoyed it, then filled the wood box and got another load ready when it runs out.

Better go and get something done here...need to bring something out of the freezer (chicken) for supper tonight..

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Take care everyone, enjoy your day.

Good Morning all from sunny southern, Calif. I woke late today, and feeling some shortness of breath. I am going to ignore it as my Gary will be teaching Bible Studies this morning at our Chapel, and I would hate to miss that.

I was able to come right into the S.S. today, and that is a BIG treat. I am still mentally thanking Pat and her hubby for keeping us all together. I am going to start making a list of all your email addresses, just in case we ever get locked out or shut down.

Other than Bible Study there is nothing on my schedule for today, so I am hoping to get some snail mail done and mailed out. I am getting more and more like Scarlett O'Hara, in her statement, "I'll worry about it tomorrow." But my tomorrow never seems to be there, so stuff waits.

Time to get the show on the road. Need to get my leg checked, then on to the Chapel. See y'all later. June

Well I finally got enough energy to post.  Cough is less but still a nuisance.  Wife got some new meds from her doctor, I may have get myself in if this doesn't improve.

Anyhow, back to the couch.

Shirley

I could have sworn I posted earlier but don't see it so one of those times that "I just thought about it". My computer is giving me fits & I needed to find a niece's phone number, knew it was on a word pad on the computer but, alas, not this one.  I plugged in the little 12" one & waited for all to load, then the darn mouse wouldn't talk to the computer so more trials.  Finally got the phone number & she wasn't home!  Cats are out so better go rescue them from the cold, time to eat again for them.

Hal, don't let that cough go on, my daughter has been through at least 2 prescriptions & head too full to fly since Thanksgiving week.  I do believe it is more than a cold, a very aggressive bug all over the US.

Take care, everyone.  Shirley

Enjoy your evening everyone..

Bis, we certainly do understand your need to be with your dear daughter. To me nothing is more valuable than my "kids", and I know you feel the same. Do enjoy every minute that she is with you dear one.

I don't know where the hours of this day have disappeared.  I did get down to hear my amazing son teach us about how the Chapters in Daniel relate to our crazy world today. So much similarity to to todays world.  I came home for a bit and got involved on the computer, then down for lunch time at the club house. Came home, lay down to read a bit and woke up at four thirty this afternoon. Didn't want to get up so lazed around for another hour. Now I am thinking about what I will eat for supper..no appetite, but I won't let the body go without food.

For the next two days our Choir will be performing at the club house, so that is my duty...dress Christmasy, and sing loudly. We are told to smile a lot and "project our voices, out to the crowd". I will try to do so, and read the music at the same time. These are sweet young people teaching we 80 and 90 year old folks...they must have the hopes of the young..but we will do our best for them.

Hal, I pray you and your wife will soon recover from those dastardly colds. We push ourselves too hard at this season of Peace on Earth.......

Soon you will all be getting ready for bed, and I will be back to tuck you in. June

Food For Thought

Spiritual Companions
(By Steve Troxel)

Elijah...experienced great victory on Mount Carmel but was then overcome with fear and loneliness... God provided comfort by first sending an angel and then through the gentle whisper of His presence (1 Kings 19:5-13). But Elijah clearly revealed some long term spiritual needs which could not be ignored; "I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty...{but} I am the only one left" (1 Kings 19:14).

Elijah felt alone in his devotion to God and alone in his ministry. This loneliness was affecting his judgment as well as his ability to persevere under stress. He needed a spiritual companion who would encourage him and walk by his side. God recognized this need and sent Elisha; "anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet" (1 Kings 19:16). God was not replacing Elijah, but since he had many "opportunities" for future discouragement, God provided someone to share the burden, provide motivation, and be trained for future service.

Elisha was in the field plowing with a team of oxen when Elijah first called him to follow. Elisha's response was immediate and decisive, and he was devoted to Elijah for the remainder of his ministry.

1 Kings 19:21 "He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his attendant."

God never intended for us to go into battle alone. While He is always at our side, ready to intervene, His Word also directs us to draw upon the strength of others; "Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness" (Hebrews 3:13).

Immediately after creating the first man, God said; "It is not good for the man to be alone" (Genesis 2:18). We were created to be people who need one another; "Two are better than one...if one falls down, his friend can help him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Jesus demonstrated this wisdom as He sent messengers to proclaim that the Kingdom of God is near; "the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him" (Luke 10:1). Difficult tasks require mutual support and encouragement.

As we travel down God's path, let's listen to His counsel and not walk alone. Let's entrust our lives to our Heavenly Father and seek other believers who will encourage us to remain in His presence and aligned with His perfect will. Let's pray that God would bless us with courage and strength...and also with an abundance of committed spiritual companions.
