We had rain through the day, now it has ceased and the sidewalks are drying up. Had a surprise trip to the doctor today...a really stormy ride.  My Dr. is in Anaheim, an adjoining city to Stanton, and it was really pouring there. Water from curb to curb in some places. The Dr. removed the scab, Arrrrgggghhhh........took a culture and sent me home. I am now on Percocet...a stronger pain medication. Had a great sleep this afternoon.

Had a good lunch downstairs with good company. Sat with our Chaplain and his pretty wife. They are a fun couple and good friends with Gary and Dori. In fact Gary presided at their wedding.

Mycheal, thank you for your gracious Christmas message. I agree on plowing through to keep the roads clear.

I am going to Google the news, then think about fixing a light supper. See you later.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

mycheal, I truly enjoyed, appreciated and agreed with your message!  Thank you!

I've finished all my chores except the wrapping.  I still have three things to wrap but I put it all aside and went to lunch with my daughter, granddaughter and grandson by love and marriage.  He treated all of us and it was lovely just to be with them all.

The store is providing a meal for everyone tomorrow and the announcement said "if anyone would like to bring a dessert it will be greatly appreciated...not necessary but appreciated".  I'm taking the rest of the Christmas candy.  If the past repeats itself, there won't be any left to bring home so all the temptation will be out of the house.

I'm really tired tonight and I have to work tomorrow morning so I'm going to try to get to bed early.  I'm having trouble with my DVD player.  I can't get anything to play in color so I watched, "It's a Wonderful Life" last night and "Miracle on 34th St." tonight.  They are both B&W movies anyway.  I still have to see "White Christmas" but I refuse to watch that in B&W.  Clint tried to fix it but no luck.

Anyway, I'm going to say "Good Night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

Another day is coming to a quiet close. I had a long nap this afternoon, but my eyes are ready to close already this evening..must be one of the new medications I have been given. I really need a road map to go through all of them now. I am thankful.

So it is time to say goodnight, and God Bless you all. I pray for your Peace, Good Health, and send you my love. June.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Denver

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

Youngest son, wife and new puppy dog arrived tonight after a 14 hour drive from Austin.... They will be staying with Dr. Dave and Family.  I sure was relieved they were here safe and sound.

Oliver, the puppy has sure grown since we saw him last....he is nearly twice the size.

Tomorrow night we will get together and have a BBQ dinner.  Brian brought a brisket from Franklin BBQ in Austin.  It is a famous place there and we are sure looking forward to the meal.

I wish you all a good night of rest.

Food For Thought

On Failure
(by Dick Innes)

"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin." -- King David (Psalm 51:1-2, NIV)

Richard Halverson in "Pulpit Helps" asked the question: "Who hasn't failed? The Apostle Paul failed, Peter failed, every one of the twelve apostles failed. David, Israel's greatest king, 'a man after God's own heart,' failed. Moses, giant among the Israelites, giver of the law, deliverer of his people, failed. Jacob, father of Israel, failed. Isaac, son of promise, failed. Abraham, progenitor of Israel, father of the faithful, prototype of those who are righteous through faith, failed. Even our first parents, in their human perfection, failed. Who hasn't failed?"

It's not the failure that is the issue. It's what we do when we fail that matters most. We can beat ourselves up if we are perfectionistic. We can laugh it off or deny it if we are too insecure, too afraid, or too proud to admit it. Or we can acknowledge it, confess it to God, get up, brush off the dust, learn from it and grow.

However, if we keep failing at the same point over and over, chances are that it's the symptom of a deeper problem -- or the "fruit of a deeper root." This, too, we need to acknowledge; seek God's help and, if necessary, the help of a pastor to help us get to the root cause of our repeated failure and resolve it at that level.

Whatever the cause of our failure/s, the important thing is to get up just one more time than we have failed or fallen down, learn from the experience and grow.

Remember, too, it's not God's goal to make us good but to make us whole and the more whole and mature we become the less we will fail. Also remember that Rome wasn't built in a day. . .neither is the "making whole" of our life. In fact, it's a life-long process!

"Suggested prayer: "Dear God, thank you that are a friend of sinners, forgiver of failures, giver of mercy to confessors, and healer of wounded hearts. Forgive me where I have failed. Heal me where I am wounded. Deliver me where I am bound. Encourage me where I am afraid. . .set me free and make me whole. Gratefully in Jesus' name. Amen."

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Thank you again Joanie for all your work on our behalf.  I like the piece on how we must react to failure.  Sometimes that's the hardest part of failure.

I still have one gift to wrap but I won't have to have my gift setup for that.  Today I'll put all that stuff away and get my bedroom back to normal.  Tonight my daughter comes from Maryland.  She and hubby will stay until tomorrow late afternoon.  We're going to go to lunch together for our celebration and then back to my house to share a little "giving".

I'll be off to Wally World at 9 for my last shift until next Tuesday.  HOORAY!  We have our dinner on the house at work today.  I bet it will busy up the gazoo today!  But I'm glad I won't be there tomorrow.  It will be mostly food and frustration tomorrow.

Coffee's ready!  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Good Morning Lloyd!  I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a cashier but I'm sure she is happy not to be reported.  Maybe she was just having a bad day herself.  I always give people the benefit of the doubt.

I never met Sam Walton but I heard that if he met a person once he never forgot their name and he always used it if he met them again.  That's a smart man!

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.  Stay warm, healthy and happy!

It is another beautiful sunny morning here in South Carolina.  Yesterday was great as it got into the mid-60's with no wind so was quite comfortable outside. Today we will only get into the mid-50's but no complaints.

I was very tired last night after only getting three hours of sleep on Wednesday night and then having a very busy day yesterday that I didn't wake up this morning until after 8 am.  Sleeping in is something I very seldom do.  I plan on a much quieter day and staying at home.

I am trying to use the Windows Movie Maker on the videos of the Christmas Concert I took a few days ago as a lady from Church, who missed the concert, called and asked if I could share them with her.  I have never used the application before so there is a learning curve involved.

Shirley, it sounds like your grandson has made his passion for gaming pay off for him.  Nothing like an all expense paid trip.

Joan, I never learned to play chess.  That was quite an accomplishment for F and to win two games in tournament play is a worthy achievement for one so young.  His folks are to be commended for supporting him.

Mycheal, thanks for the nice Christmas greetings.

June, Hope the Percocet stops that terrible pain you have been having.

JaneS, maybe Santa will bring you a new DVD player.  I hope you enjoy the Christmas meal at your store today.  I picked up another grocery order at Walmart yesterday and their parking lot was stuffed.  I sure was glad they have designated spaces for the online grocery pickup. Does your store have this service yet?  It works wonderfully and this is the fourth time we have used it.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  Good that you were able to sleep in today.  I know you will get that video made.  You are so smart when it comes to all these techie items.  Finlay's parents do provide excellent guidance, IMO.  I haven't tried the WM online grocery ordering yet. I am going to do that soon.

Good morning everyone. Had one of those nights I could not sleep. Finally went to sleep about the time I should have been waking up.

JOAN  that was more than I got.

PATRICIA  by the time I can squeeze that vial enough for a drop to come out my hand moves.  I would do better with an eyecup than drops.

MARY ANN  I have seen some games that are timed. If you do not finish before time is over you have to start again. Those are the ones I do not do.

JOAN  a Cinnabon will be great this morning. I like today's Food for Thought. Everyone has failed at something. Thank you for all today's goodies.

Have to get the day moving here, CNA will be here and I have not dressed for the day yet.

Good morning everyone from a dark but much warmer Interior! The cleaner I hired to do a deep clean is a man in his mid-sixties and he came in and got straight to work. I can see why so many and the office here have recommended him. I have my biyearly inspection on the twenty-seventh and then plan to do a massive rehaul of my possessions. It has been a long and frustrating fall and winter so I hope 2017 will be peaceful and less drama.

Farrah is getting to be quite the diva. She gets up in the morning and goes straight to her empty bowl, verbally telling you to get a move on. Then she goes to her treat closet and verbally reminds you that you aren't finished. She doesn't hide from company, she isn't a lap cat but she will accept pets and scratches on her terms from company. When you are in the kitchen or busy in another room, she will go to the closest chair or table and watch you.

With me, she is affectionate in her way. She lays on my feet or behind me on the couch and sometimes plays with my hair all the while purring. Last night she kept bring me her felt mouse. I would thank her and put it on the floor. She would return it to my lap each time I returned it to the floor. Finally, she was satisfied when I pocketed it. No one will accuse her of not providing for her family!

We have had a warm winter and busy holiday season. I've ended up sending my regrets to a few parties, potlucks, and teas and that is my own Christmas present. I attended a couple and that was okay, but I'm more of a one on one than a thirty or more on one type of person. This building is kept well supplied with mini chocolates, hot cocoa packets, tea, tooth paste and brushes in mini packets from local schools and area clubs while we have had strolling hallway carolers from Sweet Adelines and a couple of high schools so it has been a busy season and I will appreciate January's calm.

Jane we always called the 24th, Father's Day when I was still working.

Gloria, I have heard of but never seen or used an eyecup. Since I have dry eye issues I will keep one in mind.

I hope everyone is well and happy and that those with issues find them quickly resolved! Stay warm and enjoy this holiday season in your own way!

JoanFL

Gloria--Sorry you had a bad night.  How many days a week does the CNA come?

Angelface--Farrah sure does provide you enjoyment and entertainment.  My housekeepers are two men and a women, and I'd say all three do a good job and work at an equal pace.

Gloria, my timed games do not shut off if I don’t finish in a certain time.  In fact, my games really are jigsaw puzzles.  One tells me the fastest and the average.  I don’t believe the fastest because it often is a minute or two.  One that I learned about from Larry Hanna tells me how long it took me to do the puzzle and there is no comparison with others or the computer.  Those puzzles often take between a half hour and an hour.  A couple are difficult enough to go over an hour.  I don’t have to sit and finish it in one sitting.

Patricia, I think I mentioned elsewhere that I left Kendrick’s food on the stove last night.  This morning I heard him scratching the carpet and he almost never does that.  I think he was scratching around where I have his food and he was trying to find some in the carpet.  He really does his scratching on the scratch pad I have for him and he uses it often.

I had a skin cancer removed yesterday and today I am a sight!  I removed the original bandage from my face this morning and I still don’t look good, but the bandage I have on it looks a lot better than what the nurse put on it.  I was invited to a baby shower tonight and there is no way I am going out in public with this face.  I also am not going to church Sunday.

Patricia, I suppose you called Dec 24th Father’s Day because that is when fathers did their Christmas shopping.  I worked with a man like that.

Mary Ann

angelface555

I have timers set in almost every game I play on the computer. The ones I dislike the most are the one on my mahjong game and the one solitaire game. The Microsoft solitaire features adverts and when they change, it momentarily freezes the game but the timer continues. In mahjong, it merely irritates as I am in the midst of 99 levels and it unfortunately plays into that advance. Since I play games solo or with computer animated players, I don't concern myself with timing unless I'm forced to.

I saw that about Kendrick elsewhere MaryAnn. He was probably thinking you had fallen down on one of the few jobs he's expected of you! ;)  Farrah will come and tell me "Win Win" for meals or simply "Win" for a treat. Even if she never uses normal or expected cat sounds, she gets her point across!  Cats are interesting in how they adapt and how they come to expect your behavior. What is that old saying about dogs have masters and cats have staff?

You are right about so many men shopping on the 24th instead of ahead of time. It is noticeable if you are in that line of work. One time when I worked at the import slash export shop, a young man came up to me inquiring about gifts for his bride to be. We looked at items including Italian music boxes, Russian porcelain, and Turkish coffee sets. He had trouble settling and I finally asked when was the wedding and how long he had been looking. His answers were tomorrow and that afternoon! He settled on a Japanese sake set as he was "running out of time!"  ;D

I am sorry about the skin cancer but glad you caught it and are able to see improvement in your healing. I stayed out of the sun because as a blue eyed, fair skinned redhead, I would either get migraines from bright sunlight or I would sunburn badly, peel worse and be white under all that! I have always felt envious of those able to tan or even enjoy bright sunlight!

Patricia, the skin cancer was not the result of sun, at least I don't think so.  I had a keretosis on my face and had it for many years.  In 2010 the PA in the practice froze it and eventually the freeze wore off.  I never did anything about it but I suppose it gradually festered and I nursed it along.  I called it the "keretosis that went wild".  No matter what I did for it, it did not go away, shrink or get better.  Finally, I called the dermatologist and made an appointment for them to look at it.  I really didn't think it had become cancer, but after they took a biopsy, i received a call that it was both basal cell and squamous (sp?) cancer so I made the appointment for yesterday.  I took off the bandage and my face is much more comfortable now, but I look awful.

I guessed the answer to your riddle to - the letter 'm;.

Okay, it seems I need to "toughen up" as you folks are smart! So.....Riddle me this:

I can come in a can,

I can come as a punch,

I can come as a win,

You can eat me for lunch.

What am I?

Or:

When I'm used, I'm useless, once offered, soon rejected. In desperation oft expressed, the intended not protected.

What am I?

Beats me ......or is that just my excuse?
