Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

:hb2: Happy New Year's Eve, Babes!! :hb2:

Marilyn....how scary.  I don't see how K can possibly pass a driver's test.  I assume you'll take him to the place and bring him home.

In Iowa, we all take an eye test  identifying alphabetic letter with a machine that also includes a peripheral test where lights flash right/left/ high right/ low left, etc.  everytime you renew your license.  After age 71 you only get 2 yrs on each license.

I was slow getting going this morning, but we had breakfast and then we walked a mile on the beach.  I'm hoping to be able to add to that distance in the New Year, if my knees and hips don't squawk too much.

We're going to be watching the big semifinals in college football today:  AL vs Washington St and then Ohio State vs Clemson.  I think we're going to pick up a pizza and that'll be supper, etc.  We're going to get it early since I suspect they'll be very busy here on New Years' Eve.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE!!!

Jane, good for you for walking a mile on the beach.  With our hips & joints complaining more every year, it does get harder and harder.  We're having Lean Cuisine pizza tonight for dinner. Then I made a salmon spread to be put on warm baguette slices for later in the evening. I also made some lemon bars from a mix I've had on hand for a while and they don't look quite right. I hope they taste good though. If not, not.  I like to keep something like that on hand, but don't think I will in the future if it deteriorates.

Mary, sorry about the bridge, but that's the breaks sometimes.  Nice to have the PT over, but will you have more in the new year?

Mary, Sue, our licenses are good for 10 years. I renewed on line last time, but may have to do it in person next October when mine expires.  Ms Frances got hers renewed at age 95 for 10 years!!  Is that scary or not?

Marilyn, I really don't think Keith should even try to take a driving test. Do you think he is developing alzheimers?  I pray not.  How's the new kitty?

I've got a load of laundry in the dryer, organized my pills for next week, & made the spread and bars, so now, I'm vegging.

Have a nice evening.  Sounds like all of us are party poopers & planning to stay home to watch the ball drop.  We'll probably find a movie on demand to watch.  Sharon

JeanneP

Sun out today and about 35 deg. Should take a nice long walk but think will just start the year out by having a lazy day and a lazier New Years Eve. Just make a few phone calls. Got the first one this morning and it lasted 2 hours so sort of talked out already
Think will make a bucket List this years. Do it tomorrow. Never made one.  Not alot done last years. Will be no Gyms, Diets and promised that I know could not be kept.  Just fun things to do.

Going to do cooking today and fill my freezer a little . It is just about empty. I like to have lots in I can fall back on on lazy days.

Happy New Years to all on S and F.  Hope those not in the best of health get better soon. The ones in good health just remain that way.
We may see lots of changes in the Country in 2017. Just have to accept and think the best. Myself I will miss the Obama's and seeing their daughters go along with life. Wish them the Best also.
Now soon there will be no DVD players to be found. I need to buy a new one before that happens.  Now all say Blue Ray. Will they use the Regular DVD also.
I still have one that does DVD and VCR.  One in the room children use is here that just plays VCR.  I have so many of those tapes. Wedding. Childrens Cartoons. Things going back may years. Use the one daily that does the DVD as again I have hundreds I want to keep.  I don't have anything Blue Ray as yet. See some on sale right now.

This is a very lazy weekend _ seems like that's the only kind I have.  It's been cloudy all day - and predicted to be all week - maybe a total of an inch of rain, but that's a good way for us to start off the year, after the drought we've been in.  Nothing on TV (since I don't care about football).  I'll check out Netflix and Amazon after a while.

I hope all have a good 2017, with good and/or improving health.  Hugs!

Jeanne, Blu-Ray plays on regular DVD players but I don't think you get the increased quality.  I have a VCR/DVD and John has one of each. We plan to keelp them as we have lots of video tapes too.

It's cold here today but to be in 50's tomorrow. No rain so far today but projected for tomorrow.  Charlotte is -8" for the year.  I think we are about the same. We got more from Matthew, but missed a lot that hit Charlotte later. Mary, I'm glad you got some.

I haven't done anything but play on the computer since I was last in.  Sharon

Happy New Year Buddies

GinnyAnn

Happy New Year!

Had a very quiet eve, played on the pc.  Ray went to bed before midnight, so I said my New Year greetings to the pc.  Ray did wake up and said Happy New Year to me. Today is sunny but cool (cold) for some. I haven't been out yet.  Feeling like I need a nap so I think I will  :)

SCFSue

Hi Buddies.  I watched lots of basketball and also the Clemson game last night.  I was glad Clemson won--although they are Carolina's biggest rival--at least when I was a kid and later a Carolina undergrad.  I'm hoping Clemson will be able to win over Alabama next week.  The Tide needs a bit of a come-uppance, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION!

My daily paper this morning had lots of pictures of Auburn football players and coaches in New Orleans.  We will play Oklahoma--and I think they are a pretty good team.  Our players visited kids in hospitals yesterday which I think is always nice.  I'm sure the Oklahoma team did the same.  There were several pictures of our players dancing in the streets with several dance groups which dance during Mardi Gras, too.  It looks like the team is having fun--and I hope they win, but that's up to the players and Oklahoma!

It's been raining this morning, so I haven't gone out to walk.  I'm concerned about Lue's daughter.  This morning while I was reading the newspaper, her husband came out and started their car and then pushed her out in a wheel chair.  He came back about 2 hours later and parked around back, so I didn't see if she was with him.  I hope she's OK.

Jon called me this morning.  He's coming up here on his way to Atlanta next week and will go to Arizona with his friend up there so they can sell rocks/minerals/etc. at the month long rock thing out there.  He's driving for Uber now and is happy with it, but will take a month off to do this with his friend.  Big brother Bill is coming for a week in February.

Hi GinnyAnn, I'm glad to see your New Year's Greeting.  Enjoy the sunny day and also your nap.

Happy New Year, EVERY BUDDY.  I hope 2017 brings good health and happiness to all.
Sue

JeanneP

Sue. You can still find a few DVD players for sale but they all say BlueRay. Good to know that the will still work for the DVD.  None have the space for VCR. I will just hold on to the one that just plays VCR as it not used much. Just hooked up to a really old TV that is not wired for Cable. Use the one I have in the LR until it goes bad and keep a spare by buying one now.  None are being made anymore.

I have so much stuff in the place and yet I keep storing. Hate to think what a mess it will be for the girls if I popped off sudden.
JeanneP

SharonE

Sue, glad to hear your 2 sons will be visiting before long. I know you don't get to see them as often as you would like. Same for me with mine.  Hope your neighbor's okay.

After church, John and I began dismantling all the Christmas decorations and getting them all boxed up and put away.  With both of us working at it and a couple breaks, we got it all done.  I will get things dusted and the normal bric-a-brac back in place tomorrow.  My cleaning girl will come Tuesday and get the rest of the cleaning done.  Melanie & Sangmin are coming for a couple days the end of the month, so want everything spit polished.

I was so tired after we finished, I fell asleep at the computer.  Didn't sleep long, but probably a half hour.   I have to get dinner soon. Just having a center cut ham slice, baked sweet potato and slaw. No black-eyed peas though. I've done well without them for all these years, so am not going to worry about them now.

Ginny, we had a quiet evening too, but did watch the new year in together. Glad it was sunny for you. It was very dreary and damp here. A light mist or rain off and on.  Can't complain though. We need all we can get.  Sharon

JeanneP

Finaly they have decided what the problem is on my thigh. 2 specialist and a primary . As always I think of the worse ailments.

Never heard of this one before.Paresthetica.  Wonder why they use such big names. Was told to take Ibuprofen which I don't like to do but they said just a couple a day and if it gets to bothering to much they can just give a shot in it . Says it sort of like when a shoulder hurts. I have a little problem in one if I lift heavy things.  Also give me some short stretches to do. And that is about all . At least I now know what the itching is.  I only get weird things.

Meralgia paresthetica is a condition characterized by tingling, numbness and burning pain in your outer thigh. The cause of meralgia paresthetica is compression of the nerve that supplies sensation to the skin surface of your thigh.

Tight clothing, obesity or weight gain, and pregnancy are common causes of meralgia paresthetica. However, meralgia paresthetica can also be due to local trauma or a disease, such as diabetes.  This the know I don't have.

In most cases, meralgia paresthetica can be relieved with conservative measures, such as wearing looser clothing. In severe cases, treatment may include medications to relieve discomfort or, rarely, surgery.

Jeanne - I hadn't heard of that before - sounds fairly easy to treat, though.  I hope the ibuprofen works for you.

Margaret just left - she came by on her way home from the Lady Vols game (they beat KY this evening).  She brought some Xmas stuff - just small things - a new bird feeder and some house plants in a tub (narcissus and amaryllis) for me to have this winter.  She's feeling much better now.

And now the new year starts - going to the Y, doctors' appointments, bridge - just the usual.  LOL

Quiet day here, too.  It was very windy and rained this morning, then both disappeared and ot was lovely.

We walked up to meet our friends for dinner at 2:00 and then we came back here, and I went for another walk.

Tim stopped by about an hour ago.  He'd been out doing errands, but has caught a really bad cold and was going home to bed.  I think they probably had a very late night on Saturday and he has been so busy this past week.  I hope he'll stay in bed a while and rest.

I ironed a dust ruffle for my bed--flannel.  I'll start using my flannel sheets as they are pretty cozy in the winter.  The Molly Maids are coming tomorrow and will change my sheets.  Hurray!

Not much else planned for today except basketball on TV and the Sugar Bowl this evening.  I hope our Tigers win, but if not that they play well and have fun.

I haven't seen Lue's daughter or son-in-law this morning, and their car is not in the driveway.  I'm wondering if she has been admitted to the hospital.  I hope she will be OK.

Have a nice day, Buddies.

Hi buddies..a new year....good health and happiness to us all..we are having nice wRm weather..but the cedar pollen is very high..a lot of people are allergic to it...thank goodness I'm not.."it is due to turn colder by Thursday..going to have one more round of company this weekend..then it will quite for awhile..but I so enjoy having them..Hi to any looking in...Darlene

maryz

Hi Buddies - it's been a nasty, rainy, foggy, cool day today.  But it looks like Sue is not only getting her rain, but the threat of really severe weather.  I hope all will be okay at her house.

I'm off to play duplicate - with my other partner tonight.  Hopefully, we'll do better.

Record highs in the Upper Valley today...93 at McAllen!  It was 84 here on the coast and that was hot enough for me...in fact, a little too hot.  We made a quick trip to B'ville this morning and got home for lunch, etc.  It was simply too hot for me to walk and my joints feel the changes coming...Wed. to have rain here and then the cold front Darlene mentioned on Thursday.  I've been watching bowl games...Iowa played miserably...Sue's team is on tonight vs Oklahoma.

Back to my aspirin and heating pads.

jane

maryz

Sorry for your aches, jane - hope you'll be better after the front goes through.

My partner and I came in third for the N/S couples in six tables tonight.  That's some better.

Good morning, Gals.  My cleaning lady is here and will clean up any of the debris, sparkles, etc from the Christmas decorations.  I got everything dusted and the usual things put out yesterday, so it looks back to normal.

Sue, enjoy your games. I hope you didn't get any severe weather.  We've been getting rain today but it's supposed to clear up by afternoon.  IU hasn't been doing too well lately. I think they are ranked 20th or so. Butler is doing pretty well though.

Mary, I'm glad you did well last night at bridge.  John didn't have a very good day yesterday. Maybe it will be better today.

Darlene, you have had a lot of company, but I know you love having family.
The weather is in such a roller coaster pattern everywhere. We are in the 50's today but Friday and Saturday to drop down into the 30's with possible  SNOW!!!

Jane, my joints are screaming with all this rain and change of temps too. I hope your aspirin and heating pad help.

Jeanne, I haven't heard of that diagnosis either. I'm glad that it is fairly easily treated.

Marilyn, you've been getting pretty lousy weather at your place. Hope it doesn't put a damper on all your activities.

Hi Ginny. Hope things are going well in Cleveland.

Hi to anyone else who pops in.  Sharon

jane

Morning, Gals!

It's warm but a bit foggy here, but Ray's off golfing with two other guys from the building.

Having some worrying this morning...our beloved niece in MN is having brain surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester as we speak.  It's usually about a 4 hr surgery...to try and place a pad between her trigeminal nerve and whatever it's resting against that's  causing all the nerve pain.  She had to be there at 5:45 am and must be the neurosurgeon's first surgery this morning...had a text that she's in surgery as of 8:30 am.

My joints are better today, so I need to get some breakfast and then get a good walk in.  I have a couple other errands to do later and the whites are in the washer as I write.   ;)

jane

maryz

Sorry to hear about your niece, jane.  All good thoughts go her way for a safe surgery and good outcome.

Good to get your cleaning lady, Sharon!

Busy morning - early trip to Walmart, then first time back to Silver Sneakers here at the Terrace.  Now I plan to knit and nap the rest of the day.  LOL.

Stay safe, Buddies!

Yes Sharon is is very cold here, frozen lawn, icy streets, yesterday it snowed some in Coos Bay and more is expected tonight. wee ladies I joined the gym yesterday and got in  a good workout. I went again this morning for another good workout, it is amazing  that the muscles hove so much memory after not going to the gym for over a year. Coming home  just as I started to brake for the left turn onto my street, my car starfted to fishtail just enough to make me think, Good thing I was slowed down and just  lightly braking.

This afternoon I am going over to the clinic when I used to work to make an appointment for our new cat to be neutered. I got a voucher from one of the local  rescues to have it don for free. I think the cat is from next door because there are other cats over there that look like this one, she nev er has her cats spayed or neutered.  Well I am having this one done as a feral so he will have his ear tipped and we will be able to recognize him.

SCFSue

My cleaning ladies were here at 9:00.  I had slept a bit late following Auburn's losing game last night--couldn't get to sleep for wondering if Coach Mahlzan will be fired.  AU will have to pay him a lot of money if they let him go.  They have similar contracts with Bruce Pearl (basketball/men's).  Mahlzan has been criticized most of the year because of disappointing losses and influential Alums hate to lose!  I don't think any of the women's coaches have similar contracts.

I just sit around reading while the cleaning ladies are here.  I waited until they left to take my morning walk.  It is cooler and was foggy-ish when I walked, but has cleared up a bit since.  I did find quite a bit of dust under my computer desk where all the wires are.  I guess they just push a dust mop in there and call it clean.  I got down on my hands and knees and finished the job a bit ago.

Marilyn, you were posting while I was replying.  I'm glad your incident on the street was not a bad one and you were able to slow it down.  I hadn't heard that you had a new cat.  Have you named him yet?  And what does Freckles think about her new housemate?  She's had a lot of experience with other animals, so she'll probably be OK with the newbie.

Jane, thoughts and prayers here for your niece and also for her surgeons.  I hope all goes well and she recovers quickly.

Mary, how convenient that you have Silver Sneakers at the Terrace.  Do you go daily, several times a week, ?  Kris's mom, Ard, goes to Silver Sneakers at the big Rec Center over in Opelika near her home.  I think that's a great plan, especially for those who are in need of that kind of exercise.

Darlene, I only have one cedar tree, a large one, but my fall and winter sniffles come from all the oak leaves that have fallen and continue to fall in my yard.  I don't seem to be bothered by Cedar.

My sister Anne is having back surgery at the end of this week.  She was scheduled for the 27th of December, but the surgeon wanted it to be put off.  She has spinal stenosis and has a lot of pain.  I worry about any surgery on one's back.  I know her back pain is excruciating and hopefully she will find relief after the procedure.  I'm going to call her this evening.

I had 5 inches of rain in my gauge overnight.  I think it rained more than that, but that's as much as my gauge can hold.  It rained extremely hard for a long time.  It was welcome, though.

Have a pleasant afternoon, Every Buddy.
Sue

Marilyn

Sue this little cat adopted us about 2 weeks ago, we named him shadow because he follows us every where, He is morning or less Freckles Kitty, the stay pretty close to each other some of the time. Freckles really keeps and eye on him and she  rubs his face on Freckles neck pretty often. He is solid black not one white hair on him.

maryz

Marilyn, I like that Freckles has his own pet.  LOL

Sue, we have a woman who leads the Silver Sneakers here twice a week (T & Th).  Those are the days I don't go the pool, so going to that gives me five days of exercise a week.  It's a fairly easy workout, but it's getting me moving - and that's a good thing.  Sorry about the AU loss, but glad you didn't have any of the severe weather.

Jane, I just now came back in and saw that about your niece. I do hope the surgery was successful in relieving her pain. Glad you're feeling better.

Marilyn, you make me feel guilty. I'm glad you're back to exercising though. Funny about Freckles' adopting Shadow.

Mary, good for you too on all the exercise.  I really need to get back on a program.

Sue, I play on the computer while my cleaning girl is here.  I dusted most things yesterday, but I asked her to get down and do the base of the pedestals of my dining table and the legs of the other tables.  I just can't do that.

Not much going on here.  We did get another inch of rain which makes 2.5" in 2 days. Very happy about that.  Sharon

JeanneP

I now found how to Uninstall from the W7.  Must not have used it since I had XP . could just not figure out where it was.  But anyway. Spent a hours trying to clean off all the things that started appearing on this W7 desktop. What a mess. Had 6 things on I have never heard of. Just appeared and really messed the computer up.

I know I am not going to even install anything that looks O.K . Keep it the way it is.  4 out of the six took so long to go.  All the questions as to why removing had to answer.

I have 2 packages here waiting to be mailed since last Saturday. Storm just will not let up. Temps not bad 43 deg. but it doesn't stop one getting soaked. So will hold until tomorrow. Hope it quits.  seems like down South it is bad also. So much for Winter.

Cleaning out the file drawers on my desk. Thing in there going back years. I have to get better at keeping things in order.  (Say this every January)
Since I last looked at the Temps They have gone down to 31 deg. Be cold for rest of week looks like
