Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Jackie, I am so fortunate to have decided to go for an older pup, but she sure has the energy.

Mary Ann she already knows the routine.  I need only go for the jacket and she performs.  I had the camera on a tri pod so was attempting to get additional time with her.

Jean thanks we both look forward to the walks (weather permitting)

Shirley thanks for the comments, Mimi rescued me but know now how important it is for folks  to consider rescue.

Sachiko I just heard last evening how popular dogs have become in Japan.   Hope you are soon able to take us on a few tours.   You might repost some of your former ones with comments.

Interesting link, Jeanne..... I've been researching how to replace water in a music box globe.... I have one that I dearly love but the water turned cloudy.... "one of these days" I will tackle the job~~

JeanneP

Shirley..

That should work. Do it and let us have a photo. I am going to look around the yard sales this Spring and see if can find different glass items to make some out of.
That one I  put on here the  kids like to make. Can just give them Jam jars etc.

Several years ago Sachiko posted some photos of herself in front of Lake DeFuniak when she was just a young woman.  I believe her husband was attending a session at Florida State University in Tallahassee.  This is the same Lake DeFuniak Larry and I visited yesterday.  The museum was closed but we enjoyed visiting the historical library and seeing the big old houses near the lake.  Lake DeFuniak is one of the two almost perfectly round circular spring-fed lakes in the world according to Wikipedia.  I doubt if there have been many changes since Sachiko visited those years ago.

Jean that was special!   Nice that it is not far from your new home, bet you will return.   Good photo of you and Larry, and like your choice of Hymns.    I stopped the video to read the board and noted it was a Chautauqua settlement.  We made several visits years back to Chautauqua NY.   It was the first of a group of them.  Sorry I took no photos, but there were large rows of victorian cottages leading down to the lake.  The Institution has  a large facility for lectures and entertainment.  It was like traveling back in time.

Joy

Jean, thanks for sharing your visit to DeFuniak  Springs.  Really pretty little town with some beautiful houses.

Jean - I enjoyed your visit to DeFuniak Springs!  I watched it a number of times, and each time I saw something that I hadn't seen before!  That giant Magnolia tree is spectacular, and all the old homes, churches and the library are beautiful.  I also liked seeing the photo of you and Larry. :)

junee

Jean, a great video and besides seeing those beautiful buildings and all, I discovered sound on my iPad.  Two photographers enjoying a day out.

FlaJean

Thank you all for your comments.  We had such a nice day.  One of the things I enjoy seeing are those old houses with their big wraparound porches.  When I was young we had a nice porch and spent a lot of time in the swing or glider---even slept there on a few hot summer nights.  Of course, that was in the days before air conditioning and TV.  ;)

But, saying all that I have to say I love my iPad and computer.  Wouldn't want to give them up!

JeanneP

Jean.  What a great area to stroll around in.  You pick the best areas to live in Florida. I seen to have only visited places I thought would not like to live.  I think would really like both of the ones you have picked. All seem to take good care of their parks etc. We had some nice ones here but with the State running out of money they are letting them go.  The Park district ran the largest one for at least 100 years.  This year turned it back over the the State as they are behind in paying them to do the work. Even stopped taking care of all the public gardens in town. Planted the flowers every year.
After this winter here in Illinois I sure am tempted to move.

That is a good photo of you both. Your husband loves to dress in white.

Sato

A nice video!!  Enjoyed buildings and music.

Sato it is great to see your post, hope things are improving for you.

FlaJean

Sato, what a pleasant surprise to see your post.  We surely do miss you and your beautiful videos.

FlaJean, thank you for the lovely tour of Defuniak Springs.  I've driven through there a couple of times on the way to the beach, but didn't take time to go through those lovely neighborhoods with the beautiful homes.  Your video was very professional and lots of fun to see.

Shirley

Jean, I did leave a comment on your video.... forgot to come back here & tell you want a pleasure it was to watch. Nobody searches out the "nooks & crannies" & picks out the most beautiful scenes like you & Larry. In all of our travels we never slowed down to see the many things I'd listed as "must see".... unless I got us lost & now & then that paid off.   :)

I still have the flu, think it is a combination of every type rolled into one.  Started with the cough on Thursday, went to the Dr 'cause I was afraid they couldn't work me in if I waited until Friday. They are so good when I call & got me in within a couple hours. I knew I had a sinus infection. By the next day when I went to pick up my prescription I already had fever, the highest fever (3 days so far) I've had as an adult.  No food, horrible cough & all the icky things you think of, sore skin & bones, head ache, you name it, this is the mother of all flu strains!  I managed to get an ounce of chicken noodle soup today & some toast.  This isn't the place for whining but just explaining why  I'm not getting it all together.  I've been sleeping on the bed by the computer so I can watch TV (during the day) so do check in here every few hours.

FlaJean

Shirley, so sorry to hear about your health problems.  Get lots of rest and plenty of fluids.

JeanneP

I got this from my Home town in the UK today.  Was a funeral for a little 5 year old boy. Looks like the whole town turned out. http://www.rochdaleonline.co.uk/news-features/2/news-headlines/107668/streets-lined-for-the-funeral
JeanneP

jackwv

JeanneP, so sad that one so young has to go, but wonderful that the town came together for his funeral.

FlaJean

So sad to see the little ones suffering with cancer.  Are you planning to go back to your hometown in England for a visit this year, JeanneP.

Shirley

Jeanne, I would be so proud to be from such a kind and thoughtful town.  Had a little trouble reading through the tears that rimmed my eyes, touching story and loved the photos.  Thank you for sharing the link.

JeanneP

Jean.  Yes. I need to go back this year. Been almost 3 years now. Long time for me. Thing Is I have very few of older people left there. No young ones and not many friends. For some reason they have gone to live in France. Not in the mood to visit there. Fact I don't want to visit Europe anymore.  Things has really changed and not for the better.

I was just looking at the Video of the Mary tyler Moore funeral Sunday. the cemetery if very close to Granddaughters house in Connecticut. So I will go and see it. She must have had it all arraigned and the site is just beautiful. Has a big Angel on it (Cost $2 hundred thousand). and the site takes 12 Grave lots. Just hope that tourist respect the site. I looks like a cemetery that locks its gates in the late afternoon.

Jack, --- or anyone else who may give a hoot.

Got this link in an email from an old friend. Very interesting to look at and think about. I guess we don't always see what we think we do  :)  Amazing what an artist can do.

Rick - I like that video a lot.  Did you ever watch "Boardwalk Empire"? It was a wonderful show with lots of scenes like this.  The man with half of his face gone, was in the show.  I wish they had shown other characters as well.

jackwv

Rick thanks, keeping the link.  It is so unlike  the movies the last few years with all the special effects and violence.  This was excellent and will watch again.

FlaJean

Really interesting but a little disconcerting that what we think we see is not real.

...If you look in, I wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY...

All the very best from...Jackie.. :)

I didn't directly watch "Boardwalk Empire", but my wife did. I was sitting here at the puter as she watched and caught dribs and drabs of it.
