Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Looks like Bubble is recovering from whatever she had.  You both looking cheerful now. She will treasure the Teddy Bear. Always a nice thing to have.
Both now take care and enjoy your trip. Looks like you are dressed warm so must be a little cold there also. Are you able to get out doors a lot.
Where is the little one. Bet he was glad to see you.

What a nice welcoming photo with a sweet gift and I'm happy to hear Bubble is recovering!

Have you noticed that Teddy Bear has a Santa Claus beard?    ;D

Feral cats abound in Israel and they are a pleasure to watch. I watched this one as it very carefully approached the bird's nest looking for lunch.  However, the nest was empty so it went in and made itself at home, glancing down at me occasionally to see if I had anything to offer.

JeanneP

Looks like a pretty cat. Didn't realize that they would climb that far up a tree. Long way to go for food.  Must not be mice in Israel.  Don't be adopting that cat.

Bubble, that makes Santa Bear, even more a delight, I expect!

Jeanne, cats can and do climb trees. I'm sure neither Don or Bubble are looking to take on a feral cat.

Jeanne Lee

Cats can and do climb high - but some (not feral) get hesitant about coming down again.   :D  That's when their owners panic and call the fire department to rescue them.

Great to see you both...together!  Love the Teddy bear, and I didn't notice the beard so will have to go back & look.  Hope you are getting over your cold, Bubble, I went to the Dr today & got a prescription.  Everyone around has this "bug", gr-son's went on for months & the gr-grands have passed it around.  One of the ladies checking day before yesterday wasn't looking her usual perky self so I asked if she wasn't feel well.  Her reply was, "I've had fever for 2 days & feel terrible"..... not sure who I got my germs from but no way to dodge it.  Take care.

For the first tie I saw Callie climb the sweet gum tree in the front yard... for a long time I thought she might have had her toenails removed by someone that tried to adopt her.... she didn't climb the fences or trees.  Glad she is feeling at home, she is such a sweet cat.

Going to lay down, feel like I'm drugged & haven't had any type pill, just lack of sleep.

Kelly got a new puppy....
His name is Cliff....

He is the sweetest little puppy...

Oh that is so lovely, I have fallen in love with him already, so so cute.... :smitten:

Sandy

I fell in love with him too,  when he crawled in my arms and fell asleep...     He is such a good natured pup!

Shabbat Shalom! We just lit the candles a few minutes ago. With  Bubble laid low with a debilitating malaise since my arrival I have spent much of the time wandering the streets of Netanya on my own. (Actually I was ordered out of the house). As I mentioned previously feral cats are in great number and I came across this group on somebody's front yard. I was captivated by this group of four who were bonding very closely, snuggling close to each other.

Cliff really is a cutie, and probably will not grow much larger.

Don I read with interest how the cats were imported years ago to address rats, now the problem is neutering the female so they do not have litters.  Beautiful animals, hope they are fed and taken care of.

Radioman34

Jack those cats are completely on their own and survive on their own instincts

Mary Ann

Don't show the picture of the feral cats to Shirley, she'll want to go to Israel to feed them all!  (Just kidding, Shirley).

In Turkey we had the same situation.  Cats everywhere and they can be very noisy.  I used to get upset when they caught and ate a pigeon, but like Don said they were on their own.  By the way it may have helped the rat problem but the rats still thrived in Turkey in their sewer system.  Most toilets didn't have "P" traps, many were just connected directly to the sewer and we referred to them as "bombsights".  If you had a commode you always kept the lid down except in use.

There is in Japan, an island full of cats but there they are fed and cared for as they are a huge tourist draw. I'm sure that someone or someones are feeding both the Israelite and Turkish cats. Human nature rarely changes much om a local level.

Hal, that bathroom is not  very inviting! Although both my sisters who had been overseas more than once spoke of co-ed bathrooms with only a small wall between toilets.

halkel

Angle, I can assure you that no one was feeding the cats in Izmir Turkey in 1961-1963.  They did fend for themselves.  Most were wild as a march hare, that is not to say they don't hang around, it is just that they will not come to a human or allow you to approach.  I should add that there were plenty of pigeons around.  Times may have changed in the past 40 or so years.

I'm sure Hal, that they have. And I was thinking of today and how things have changed when I read yours and Don's posts. I do hope however that someone is catching and spaying and watching out medically today, for their health and for the health of other animals and people.

Vanilla-Jackie

DON...
...sad to see so many feral cats having to fend for themselves, same as dogs, some sad sights I have seen on my travels abroad such as Athens and worse was while I lived in St Lucia, so many stray dogs and some not a pretty sight as some were harmed by catapults by the children so I was told.....I do hope people are taking pity on them and feeding them tit-bits...

My thoughts also go with Bubble that whatever is putting her out of salts will get her feeling back on par very soon so you can both get out and about sightseeing together...

Sandy.  Loved the photo's. Makes me want a puppy.

Don. Sorry to hear that Bubble still not well. Suppose she feels worse because she can't be out with you.  Maybe soon.  You enjoy finding your way around
Those cats look really healthy.  Only place I say them by the thousand was on one of the Parks in Hawaii. Was awful. They say they have tried every way to take care of the problem

Now here in my town the news papers are saying about areas having problems with RATS. Never heard of that before. Some over on the University area and places where students living.  Blaming it on all the garbage that is being left outside by the Asian  and fast food places who are suppose to have it picked up daily.  They say did have lots of Cats roaming the same areas for year.  Now can't count  any ( I don't eat in Asian Restaurants). Student use to get pet kittens and then just put them out on the street once the got bigger).
Was a problem during the war in Europe. Seems all the cats vanished. Got that the butcher shops had to leave the Tails on the Rabbits they had for sale so that one would know not eating cats.  Look the same when skinned. We learned to eat whale meat and Horse meat. That was bad enough. The poor Pidgins did not stand a chance if my Gran. was out there with her broom.  She was our chief cook and could fool us with everything she made.  My father would not eat her food.
