Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Larry, the way things have been going lately I will have no need for any vault, wallet or checkbook.  And the wife still has one more project, though small, and that is new tile in the bath where we put the new shower.

When talking with the a/c guy he ask if I wanted to replace the heater at the same time and I ask for price and after he gave me the price I told him: no.  I had no desire to put in the whole system for someone else to enjoy in future years.  If I live long enough and need to replace it, then I will, otherwise the kids or whoever can handle the job.

Good Morning Everyone from the partly snowy and cold,  rocky coast of Maine.     We are suppose to thave some sunny days a head (3 of them) before a spell of not so sunny and drab Winter days for quite a spell....

And so it goes here in February!

Yes Hal,  it is always good to
"know when to hold 'em and
know when to fold 'em"  ....
Sounds like you are making some
good decisions!

I hope that everyone has a good day.

Earl's out there taking my old, dead pine tree down and I'm already casting around as to what to put in it's place.  I'm think of some kind of evergreen that will be big enough to be decorated for Christmas.  There's an outlet just a short distance from where it would be.  I could even put a string of white lights on and leave there there for a sort of night light year round.  Tell me what your REALLY think of this idea or give me some of your own.  I'm open for suggestion and I have until Spring to make up my mind.

I really did some store hopping when I was out to do errands.  Now I am TIRED.  I've read all the posts and now I am going to check the couch to see if I can find some ZZZ's.

Happy FEBRUARY to EVERYFRIEND!  WOW, January sure did fly by quickly.

Again, I stared a post late yesterday afternoon.... the post page was up when I came in and not a word written on it....  I looked, and NO, there is not a post from me!  I really am beginning to question things that I am doing, or not doing!

GLORIA, I am glad to read that you did get there for the shot and that you got back home safe and sound.  Happy, happy for you that once again it seems the shot is a success!  That is wonderful.  I was surprised though, as I thought your son was driving you?

CAROL, it is always good to see a post from you and know what you and Dan have been up to.  Yes, my kids do keep address books a bit messy with all their moving.  The oldest Son, Kurt, is the one that lived in Denver Country Club area that moved to Chicago just over a year ago.  His wife was offered her dream job, so after much consideration they agreed another move, to Boston, is indeed warranted for the family.  Everything has gone so smoothly since the decision was made...a neighbor even came to them and offered to buy their home, with an open end closing date that will work out best for them.  They have checked out schools and are in the process of doing home searches right now.  Heidi will start her new position the first of March. Sorry, I got carried away with way too much info.  We hope and pray they can get as good of living situation in Boston as they did in Chicago, as it was perfect in so many ways.  You two take care and enjoy the rest of your time down there.

JACKIE, those are very nice words you have written regarding our indiciseveness regarding our trip.  I just know that we are so very blessed to have choices, and I should just stop stressing over the small stuff....and as the saying goes, "and it is ALL small stuff"!

Enjoyed the offerings today, JOAN, as always.  Thank you.  Glad you listen to your body and give it the rest it requires after your shopping trip.

JANIE, I do hope the tree removal is all over and done and all is well.  Things like that are a bit stressful.  You just want it done and no one to be hurt.  Glad you think you know what you want to plant in the spot.

LARRY, I  do hope Jennifer will join you for dinner and a visit.  Enjoy the time together.

Sorry all.....I have been way too long winded.  Hope those that are feeling under the weather will feel much better SOON.

Jenny--Best of luck to Kurt and Heidi as they make the move to the Boston area.  I rested on the couch for about an hour after my shopping escapade.

Bis, Thought of the Day, is what I call one of the best. I am saving that one on my desktop. Reminds me of Bible Study this morning when we discussed death. I had the thought that Death is really a part of Life, as normal an occurrence as we can have. Like the sun setting and rising..you can't have one without the other. Right ?

I am about to go down to the small dining room for lunch. A vegetable omelet sounds good to me. Haven't had "eggs" for a long while now.

We have a program this afternoon, but I think after lunch I will be ready for a nap.

We are having a mild day today..high is to be 69 with some cloudiness. Good napping weather. So off I go to eat and visit with friends.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Janie, my BIL in England has an evergreen in his backyard that was quite small when we went over there for Christmas many years ago and he decorated with lights for the occasion. And he never removed them.  It looks a little strange to see the lights that covered the tree then now only show on the interior of the tree.  But then, it is colorful.  Lights on different things now days are not that unusual.

June, the only part of death that bothers me.....my curiosity of what I wont be around to see.  But then I don't think it will matter cause if what I studied in the bible occurs, I will be a little busy and really wont care.

JoanFL

June--Right!!  A vegetable omelet sounds good to me, too.  This morning I had an egg, cheese, onion and mushroom omelet.  Enjoy your lunch with friends.

halkel--I've seen trees that have lights on them year around.

I use the ALEXA to listen to a favorite radio station in Denver - and Don loves to just ask for a special singer's name & it will play a medley of those tunes.  We could and probably should change the name to something really different but so far it is behaving.  It was a super sale and now a bit more expensive.  Just plug it in and ask questions - it isn't good at asking mileage and only does "as the crow flies" - not real road time.

We are so happy with the treatment Don gets at the VA - another call today and they will coordinate with his primary care doctor in another state.

No one can have lights on their trees here year around - it is really dark without street lights except those on main thoroughfares.  That is for sky watching at the observatory on the hill.  I have downloaded a program to pick out the stars and intend to do that one of these cloudless nights when it isn't freezing outside.

Other than that - a gal at the local quilt shop (Cactus...) helped me with a couple of questions - she invented the pattern and I need to get around to it.... so, why am I dawdling here?

Jenny:  The move sounds wonderful - we wish all the best for the family.  Hugs

JoanFL

Carol--I have been researching ALEXA and trying to decide if it's something I should consider.

Hal, it will be a real "trip" to finally find out what awaits us. I thought Heaven would give us the chance to find out all we didn't know before. How can it be Heaven if we have an unsolved question ?

I was locked out of my computer, and my gal fixer upper was gone but another gal came up and between the two of us we got it operating. What they did not tell me was that at the beginning of the year they change ones Password and User name, and this is my move-in year. Now I will know that a year from now I will be given a new password and user name.

Bis, I'm not into joining ALEXA or any other new gadget. This old mind has enough problems just keeping up with what I have. And I am thankful for that.

I am going to have supper at home..lunch really filled me up so I will use some left overs to snack on. My mind is tired tonight.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Poker Dog

A guy walks into a bar and sees a dog playing poker. The guy is amazed that the dog is playing poker.

"Bartender, is that a real dog playing poker?" the guy asks.

"Yep, real as can be." the bartender replies.

"Well is he any good?" the guy asks.

"Na, every time he has a good hand he wags his tail."

Food For Thought

Boaz at the Gate
By Arie Leder
Scripture Reading: Ruth 4:1-10; Psalm 15

Today you are witnesses that I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelek, Kilion and Mahlon. I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite . . . as my wife . . . .
Ruth 4:9-10
Like the good Samaritan in Jesus’ parable, Boaz goes out of his way to help. At Bethlehem’s gate, where legal decisions are made, Boaz lets the closer relative know of Naomi’s situation. The man is ready to do what is right. But when Boaz points out that Ruth is part of the package, the closer relative steps back; he does not want to endanger his own estate. He knows that if Ruth has only one son by him, then that son, as his only heir, will inherit his property, but another family name will be on the deed.
Boaz doesn’t bat an eye. The elders and people at the gate witness Boaz’s costly kindness. This good Israelite will keep his oath, even when it hurts: he will father a child for Mahlon in order to secure his property and name. Thus Boaz risks his own property and name. What generous humility; what a citizen of the kingdom of God!
The good Israelite Jesus, born in Bethlehem, did not consider equality with God something to hold on to. So outside Jerusalem, in the presence of all the people and elders, he humbled himself and paid the highest price to fill the emptiness of all who yearn for a Redeemer. “Therefore God . . . gave him the name that is above every name . . . to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).
Father God, may we confidently entrust our name and all our property to Jesus Christ, in whose name we have all that we need forever. Amen.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, wonder what Mr. Groundhog will say about winter ending today.

JOAN  I cannot believe how much better my back feels. Went out and walked  one trip around the parking lot yesterday, had not done that in months. I saw one of the ladies when I got back inside and she told me she thought I had moved because she had not seen me in almost 2 months.  By late afternoon though my back lets me know it. So much better than not being able to stand up straight.

HAL  that is 2 times I got shots in my back in January and I see the pain doctor at the end of this month again. I sure like the new doctor I have. She is the one who set up the appointments where the one I had did nothing no matter how many times I asked him about a pain clinic. His reply was always -I'll check into it and he did nothing. It will be some months yet before we think about AC here.

LLOYD  glad you finally had a good night's sleep. That is something everyone needs.

JEANNE LEE  great graphic for this month. Been a long time since we have seen anything by Ginny Ann.  Thanks for the link.

AMY  you did a weeks worth of dancing with your snow blower yesterday. You sure do a lot of heavy work.

LARRY  we have 2 shopping cars downstairs that we can take out to the porch to unload groceries from car to and bring upstairs to unload and then bring back down for someone else. Really handy to have.  I get free shipping on grocery orders for a $100 order. Since I do not order every week it is so easy to spend $100. That service is from the market I used to go to all the time. Like you I miss the old comedians. Today's so called ones turn me off.

JEANNE LEE  thanks for another link.  Will check it out later.

JANE  I love pine trees and there are different varieties of them.

JOAN  going out on errands or any kind of shopping tires me out so I sure know how you felt when you got home.  That couch looks very inviting then.

JENNY  my son will take me to a different doctor. That was yesterday but I cancelled that and will go on the 10th instead. He will take me to that one. No   way could I go out 2 days in a row anymore.

JUNE  it will be a few months before we see 69° here.

CAROL  no way of seeing the stars here with all the lights around.

JOAN  love those mini muffins. I can have 2 different ones instead on 1 big one. Cute Chuckles. Thank you for all today's goodies.

Good morning, Gloria.  I am so very happy to read that your back feels good enough that you could go out and walk in the parking lot.  I buy those mini muffins in packages that are assorted, so I can have choices.

Good morning everyone.
Light dusting o f snow that does not need my attention this morning. Have some ......um....oh oh....Joan please don't look......walls to wash down  and then I will just sew the day away.

Gloria, what a blessing it must be to be able to walk pain free!!!

Joan, thank you for breakfast

Enjoy your day everyone.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Thank you once again, Joanie for your efforts on our behalf.

Amy, we also had a dusting of snow last night.  There's ne enough to even worry about.  it's what I call "drive over snow".  It's 32º right now with a high of 35 expected.  I think the snow will be gone before long.

I don't have to hurry about something to plant where the tree was taken out.  Earl says I have to pour lime on that area and that nothing will grow there for a year.  Darn!  Maybe I'll get a potted tree for Christmas and keep it for next Spring.

I just sent out my second birthday wishes for this month.  We're all jammed up with birthday in February.  I have a nephew, my DIL, 2 grandnieces, 2 granddaughters, my Son-in-Law, and a former Fresh Air Kid who is still in our family.  If I counted right, that's 8 birthdays to celebrate.  If they weren't so widely scattered and the weather wasn't so uncooperative, I'd suggest a family gathering to celebrate them all at once.

Guess I better get moving and at least get dressed and tame my hair.  It gets so "all anyhow" when I sleep.

Make today a good one, Everyfriend!

Good Morning Everyone!

Well I am up early, got to go have a CT scan with contrast this morning, kinda gives you a warm feeling........ :o ;)
My SIL is picking me up and I suspect that I will take him and myself to the Cracker Barrel for a late breakfast or early lunch.
I will get this done and then see the Urologist in a week or so and that will be the round for him done for a while, well except for the shot in the tummy.  But still have appointments with the eye doc and cardiologist.  And a shot in the back this month.  Ah, don't you just love old age.

Angel, I thought it was a stand alone thingy, but I could be wrong I have not really checked into it.  I knew that Amazon was pushing the 49.99 model cause everything I signed on I had a pop up about it.

Everyone have a good day.

JoanFL

Good morning, Amy.  Oh my--I couldn't help but look.  Wash walls?  That's BIG w---.:)

Janie--Good morning.  August for me is like your February with lots of birthdays.  Getting a potted tree is a good idea--you won't have to plant it until next year.

Good morning, halkel.  You sure do have a batch of medical appointments.  You do deserve treating yourself to a meal out after each and every one.

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another day like yesterday weather wise with the temperature getting into the low 70's this afternoon.

Scott was able to get my laser printer working again last night while he was here.  It was just he and I at dinner at the Church as Jennifer didn't attend again.  I took her off the permanent list of attendees and if she wants to go she can make the reservation on a weekly basis.  Today will likely be my typical Thursday with coffee and, if I feel up to it, attending the Wisdom class.  I will just have to see how tired I feel when I get my friend back to the assisted living facility where he resides. I also have to make a stop at Walmart to return something Pat ordered that was the wrong item.  The only other thing on my list to do at this point is to make an appointment with a podiatrist and also one with the car dealer for an oil change.

Gloria, I just not a notification on my phone that the Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow  and predicts 6 more weeks of winter.  I had forgotten that today was ground hog day.  Glad your shots are giving you relief from the back pain.

I have read all of the postings but decided to limit my comments as I couldn't think of anything to say that others have no already commented on or didn't need comment.  No promises about a short posting for tomorrow.

Good morning, Larry.  Our weather today is very similar to yours. I saw on TV that the groundhog saw his shadow.  That's fine with me because our summer is very hot and humid.

Good morning, Lloyd.  I hope you don't plan to go out in that cold weather.

Mary Ann--Good morning.  I sure don't miss frigid weather like you are having.
