I love a day that goes exactly the way I planned!

First of all,  it's sunny - not too windy - and cool enough for a sweatshirt but a jacket is unnecessary.
We're supposed to have a foggy and "sort of rainy" weekend so I wanted to do errands and outside things today

After a "leisurely" read the paper/have breakfast time,  I dressed and went to the mega-grocery store near me.
A handicapped space opened up just as I pulled into that part of the parking lot.
Found everything on my long list - and even remembered one thing I needed but had forgotten to write down. My pantry is well-stocked again.

Came home, put groceries away and went out in the yard.  Not only did I get the "pot garden" watered, the daffodils trimmed and the bird feeders filled -two of my neighbors were also out and we had a nice chat.
I was happy to see that the pansies I'd planted a few days ago are doing well and there are more daffodil buds showing color.   :happydance:

As soon as I go down to get the mail,  I'll be ready to "tuck in for the duration".   :calm:

Hope my "inside day" tomorrow will be as fulfilling.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

June Drabek

Callie, your day sounds just about perfect, and I am so happy for you.

We had a program with Pastor Robert George telling us about the book he wrote, titled, "Yes Sir, No Sir, No excuses Sir". An excellent speaker, and Rowntree gave all in attendance a free copy, and Pastor George even signed the books for us. A delightful, interesting speaker. I am glad I gave up my afternoon Siesta and attended the program. The rest of the day is mine, so I will enjoy it at home.

Hal, I am sorry you are in need of a back brace, but if it keeps you pain free, and able to live normally again, it will be worth the bother of wearing it. Is it a canvas type of support ? I do hope it gives you the needed comfort.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

I indulged in shower and shampoo, and I have to admit, this is becoming a real chore. It wears me out. My skin in so tender I have to use a lot of lotion after showering, and of course the legs and feet have to have special attention with vitamin a and d liberally applied. It honestly feels like a day's labor. I'm not even going down to pick up my mail. A light supper and then bed and book.

Cheers kids...tomorrow is another new day to look forward to. And I pray our beloved Bis/Joan will soon be popping in to greet us again. I love you Bis !!!!
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

My long day is over.  I did my shift at WM, came home and took care of the doggies and then, after a text conversation with my niece and my grandniece, I decided against meeting them at Susquehanna and suggested meeting them when they bring Bridget back to school after her Spring break.  They decided to come the extra 14 miles and deliver my coffee and stay long enough to wish Cathy a Happy Birthday.  I thought that was extra nice of them so I gave them a quart of home made veggie soup to take home.

Then Cathy, Craig and I had dinner at a very nice, kind of new restaurant in a nearby town.  It's definitely one of a kind and the food was delicious.  After dinner, we went back to Cathy's house for Cherry Birthday Pie.  This has always been Cathy's choice for her birthday.  She's never been a fan of cake and I always made her cherry pie for her birthday.  I didn't make this one but it was very good.  After that, Craig brought me home and now I'm in my jammies and ready to retire.

I hope you all had a lovely day and I hope it's followed by a peaceful night.  And may God bless us, every one.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I had my say last night and now the doggies are telling me it's time for breakfast.

It's still only 16º here and heading for a high of only28.  A good day to stay in and get the laundry done.  And I think that's exactly what I'll do.  I may even get into the closet and weed out some of the useless stuff.

I hope you all have a lovely, lazy, productive, whatever kind of day!

Good morning everyone. A cold one here, down to 17° but the sun is shining. Windy so will feel even colder.

JOAN  I pray today finds you better than yesterday. We miss YOU.

SANDY  like I said, I do not know how true those “Darwin Awards” are but they are still stupid if true. We had more spring like weather last month.

LARRY  I do not get to see my great grandson often and when I do he always amazes me with how smart he is. His Mom used to work in a Day Care and used to teach the little ones sign language. They had some deaf children so that was something she had to do. She is teaching her son how and he uses that more than talking.

MARY ANN  if I thought I owed $14,000 in taxes I would faint.

PATRICIA  like your Quote of the Day.

JENNY  last time I saw my great grandson was Thanksgiving and he sure has grown since then. He still has the imp sparkle in his eyes.

GLORIA de  last night it was windy and I fell asleep hearing it whistling in this corner. If true those in the Darwin report are just plain stupid.

HAL  I have been wonderiung about a back brace. Just never thought to ask the doctor. At times I have to fight to keep my back up instead of bending over. I know when my back starts hurting pressure on it makes it feel better.

JUNE  the more you talk about your home the more I wish I could live there, too.

CALLIE  looks like you had a very busy day yesterday. Now have a good restful week end.

JANE  my oldest son always wanted a cherry pie for his birthday.  Wonder if he still likes it. You have been busy, hope today you can relax.

PATRICIA  WOW seemed odd to hear that singing come from that man. Wonderful, thanks.

LLOYD  hope you had a good sleep last night.

AMY  we had snow yesterday, only a few inches but more expected later the coming week. My Mother made raisin pies. A brother asked me if I had her recipe because he loved it.  Mom never had a written recipe and I never liked raisins either. I am longing for warmer temperatures and only a light jacket to wear instead of a winter coat that never seems warm enough.

JEANNE LEE  thanks.

LLOYD  wonderful picture. Nice seeing Nancy and the babies are beautiful.

JANE  lazy and productive? Well I feel lazy but seldom productive any more.

The St. Patrick's Day parade is in Newport in an hour from now. Wonder how many will be there to watch in this cold windy morning. Have a good day.

Good Morning,

"What a difference a day makes....."  l :walkwhistle: (isn't that a line from a song)

The weather gurus had predicted cold drizzle and that's exactly what we have....and why I planned to do "out" things yesterday and "in" things today.

Lloyd,  what a good picture of Nancy and those darling great-grands!   Thanks for sharing - and thanks to Jeanne Lee for helping you do so.

Amy,  when we lived in the Colorado mountains. the tulips in our back yard often bloomed through the snow.

I can't always think of a reply - but I do enjoy reading everyone's comments.

Off to put the Plan du Jour into action.  Joan would give me demerits so please don't tattle on me.   Surely hope she's recovering and will be back with us soon.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good Saturday Morning from the icy cold and blustery,  rocky coast of Maine...
Sunny but COLD..

Yikes.

All is well here as long as I choose to stay in and enjoy the sun shinning in my Windows to the World.

Hi everyone on a beautiful and sunny Saturday morning.  It is chilly this morning and we expect to get to only 64 degrees today.  The forecast has changed drastically for the next several days with much cooler weather and even one night expected to get down to 28 degrees.  I hope that won't happen but only time will tell.  We did go out to eat late yesterday afternoon at Texas Roadhouse and had a great meal as usual.  I cam home and watched golf and then after the news I watched the Duke-North Carolina Basketball game which Duke ended up winning.  I plan on watching more of the same today as really have nothing on my schedule for today.  After several days I was finally able to talk with my best friend who broke his hip and is now is rehab.  The medicines were causing him to see bricks and stones on the wall of his room that were not there.

Hal, sure hope that back brace is beneficial.  My best friend, who I referred to above, fell and broke bones in his back sometime ago and also has a back brace that I wore at times.  You have quite a watchdog.

June, my wife can certainly relate to the real chore that showing, shampooing and fixing her hair is.  She usually needs to lay down and rest for awhile.

JaneS, nice of your family to come to you.  They obviously love you a lot. It sounds like you ended up having a very full day with work and family.

Jackie, the young man that Patricia referenced in a Filipino and had a very tough young life according to what I read when I did a Google search.

Amy, I don't think I have had a raisin pie since I was a youth and my grandmother made it occasionally.  My wife probably has seen the backing as spends a lot of time on the computer looking at quilting videos and checking the quilting supply stores.  She often orders from Connecting Threads and gets their catalog.

Jeanne, thanks for helping us see those cute babies that Nancy is holding.  They look like little dolls.  Lloyd,  your great grandchildren are precious?  Great Grandma Nancy looked very happy holding them.

Gloria, are you going to learn a little sign language so you can communicate with that great grandson?  :)  I think this sounds like a good day in your area to miss the St. Patrick's Day parade.

Joy

Good morning.  Pretty sunny morning, but not looking forward to the upcoming snow storm that is heading our way.   I was hoping that spring was just around the corner, but from the looks of the weather map,  it is snow on the way and not spring.

Lloyd,  what sweet little babies, and a lovely young-looking great-grandma, also.   Thanks to Jeanne Lee for sharing the picture.

I was so hoping to see some news from Joan.  I do so hope that she is feeling a lot better and will be back in our midst very soon.

Get well , Joan.

I was up  way before Dawn and feel like most of the day is gone now.  And, it is just a little after 10 a.,m.  I have already ate my breakfast, gotten dressed, straightened up a bit, been downstairs to get my mail from yesterday and thinking about what I should get into.  I am sure a nap will happen sometime today.

I hope everyone will have a good Saturday.

Joy

Gloria, I wasn't advocating "lazy AND productive".  That was lazy OR productive...or whatever (you choose it to be).

Larry, I think they do love me and I'm very grateful.  Also, right now (in the middle of the day) it's 24º here.  I would not consider 60 cold.  I'd love to see 60 right now.  With the wind, it's hard to keep it warm inside.

I'm getting the laundry done while I play games on the computer.  I started by stripping the bed and washing the bedding.  So far, I have the mattress pad back on the bed, the sheets in the dryer and the blanket in the washer.  The rest of it is lined up in the hall waiting it's turn in the washer.  Whatever does't make it today will get it's turn tomorrow.  I've even taken a couple of jackets out of the closet to wash.

The sun is shining brightly but the wind is blowing.  The temp thing on my phone says it's 24 but feels like 14.  BRRRRR!

Shirley

Good morning to all!  We had hopes of a little snow or rain overnight but nothing but cold wind blowing.  The trees are swaying but at least no ice on them to break the branches off.

Lloyd, I do think your great grands look as different-alike as my twin aunts.  Their personalities show from the earliest photos we have of them.  One looked directly into the camera, serious & always in charge, while the other always stared into space, a happy dreamer as long as she lived.  I predict that your little one in Nancy's right arm will be like you and the one in her left arm (right side of the photo) will be like her great grandma.  Hope you can keep us updated with them.  Tell Nancy she looks great, happy she was there for the "photo opt" & chance to hug everyone.

Amazing voice that young man has... thanks for the link, Patricia.

Hal, so sorry the back is giving you fits.  A long time ago my doctor explained to me that "while I did have a broken vertebrae  in my lower back, the pain was caused by the extra weight in the tummy that pulled the spine out of alignment".  Mind you, I wasn't overweight but had let the stomach muscles go limp.  The exercise he showed me looked so simple I thought to myself... "what does this guy know?"  But I tried the exercise & by golly, it worked.

Quite a few years later I pulled the back all apart by lifting a 5 gallon can of gas into the side door of the van.  I felt the spine yell when I did it.  Spent months going to Dr & chiropractor but after X-ray all they offered was muscle relaxers & traction.  Two chiropractors wouldn't touch me.  That's when I got out the Epsom salts & soaked for a couple hours... naked as a jaybird, on the bed with a heat pad under a shower curtain, the towel soaked in Epsom salt next to my skin & just watched TV for a couple hours, routinely stretching with elbows digging into the bed & pushing one foot over the other to jiggle those vertebrae apart.  Worked so good I've never had to do it again.

At 82 I had a nice compliment last week when I dropped something & bent down to pick it up & someone looked at me shocked that the old lady could bend & stoop so easy.  Told him "it wasn't MY doing, I had abused the old body all my life, riding bucking horses & jumping off more than one roof, falling off bikes & such".

I try to get to church every Sunday at least 15-20 minutes early to kneel & thank HIM for this blessing that I don't deserve.  While kneeling I do ask HIM to help Every Friend with the pain each deals with. A saint I am NOT.... I don't offer to give up my pain free body in exchange.... but I sure do tell HIM out grateful I am for HIS mercy.

Joan, will say extra prayers for you while kneeling down.  Hope you are getting stronger.... good they can monitor you.  Thank your daughter for letting us know, & someone (Jenny?) passing the word on.  We do worry about each other & a hole in our day when someone is missing.  Hugs to you & prayers for you.

Eyes are a little better this morning, still stuck shut but hope to get back here later.  Going to wash my hair early & dig back out warmer clothes for church in the morning.  We had an early & short spring, winter is back.  Shirley

Lloyd, thank you and Jeanne Lee, for that great photo of Nancy and your great grands! Look at that expression Gracie has. I wish I knew what she was thinking!

Strangely enough, I thought JOY had made the mistake of thinking it was a day ahead and when Shirley talked about church tomorrow, I had to look it up. I was the one believing it was Friday!  ::)

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, my wife and I had an eventful night last night.  We went out to eat at IHop and was on our way home when all the traffic in front of us came to a sudden stop, I got stopped but the young man behind me didn't and hit me in the rear.  No injuries, other than our feelings, but the strangest thing, I got out of my car after checking to see the wife was okay and went to the car behind me, driven by a young lady, and ask if she was okay, she said she was fine, she didn't hit me and then a the young guy came from my front and said it was he that had hit me and wanted to know if the wife and I were okay, which we were.  Anyhow, since no injuries, I told him lets get out of the road and pull into a Sonic that was right there and exchange information and call the police, which we did. Come to find out there was an accident ahead of us that caused the problem so when the police got through with that accident they came on to us in the Sonic parking lot and took care of us.  The young man didn't have his insurance card, Mother brought it to the accident scene and my wife said that his drivers license was expired, I didn't see it.  Anyhow, after check my DL and insurance card and getting all the information she told me I could go.  I called my insurance company as soon as I got home and I will let them sort it out.  My care has a pretty good dent in the right rear (passenger side) quarter panel, he had attempted to pass me on the right, guess that is how he ended up in front of me.  But he got a lot of front end damage on the drivers side.  I was five minutes from my house.

Joanie, hope you are feeling better.  I had lots of comments I wanted to make, but they went the way of ice cubes in hot weather, my thoughts just dissolved.  I also have to buy a new printer, my old one gave up the ghost, any suggestions?

Weather here is wet and ugly, not cold, but suppose to get cold later this weekend.

Oh, Gloria, about the brace, yest it does help.  Good thing I had it on last night, as much standing around as I did and my back didn't bother me.

Everyone have a great day.

Amy

Hal, so happy to hear both you and your wife are ok.....that is scarey!!A vehicle can always be fixed.

Shirley, I had to smile when you talked of bucking horses....I too had a few rides like that and even one off a steer.....good job the barn yard had a soft but smelly cushion.

Think for the rest of the day I will do little, did laundry remade bed, vacuumed and washed floors, filled the wood box, put a roast in the oven(cookstove) and bake an apple pie..cleaned my desk top off....changed the golden girls bandage and poodetail..

I think I hear red winged blackbirds when we were out,saw crow come and hammer at a biscuit that I put out for him.
I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.
Jimmy Dean

JaneS

Well, Amy, I didn't do half what you did and I'm tired just reading what you did!

Hal, good you and your sweetie aren't hurt.  As Amy said, cars can be fixed...people, not so easy to fix.

I'm going to brave the cold and walk up to the corner for my mail...I think!  I'll see when I open the door.  The sun is sinking in the west and the indians are going into their teepees.  Maybe I'll change my mind!

We're supposed to get mucho snow on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  I hope it holds off until Cathy gets to the airport and her plane takes off and Craig gets back home.  She going to Texas to visit Natalie...a birthday gift she gave herself.  It's a 2 and a half hour trip to the nearest major airport from here.  That means the snow pretty much has to hold off until around 1 p.m.

Carol

Hal:  I hope you two are feeling well today after the crash.  Too many are called accidents - a term I don't like to use because it could have been prevented with a little bit of thoughtfulness.  Just glad you are OK.

Joan:  I go away for a few days and find that you have not been feeling up to par.  Wishing you a total recovery!

Gloria: Tomorrow is DST - one of the most costly decisions made in this country - however,  Arizona does not turn the clocks back.  It does sound like several other states discuss dropping the DST but they never reach the decision. If anyone thinks that it is about school safety - try going to school in Minnesota or Seattle and you walk all day in dark and dreary time anyway.

June:  Would spray moisturizers help you recover your energy quicker than slathering that lotion over your skin?  You could spray tan yourself at the same time --- ::)

We spent a few days with son & wife - they fixed a halibut dinner with frozen fish he caught in British Columbia.  It is still great!  They are off to an Ostrich race today - just for something other than biking or hiking.

JaneS:  All this makes me tired as well.

With shades drawn here, the house was a cool 70* and outside almost 80 today.

JaneS

Carol, it's all a matter of viewpoint.  I'd say with all the doors and windows tightly closed and the thermostat turned up, it was a warm and cozy 70º in my house today.  Right now the outside temp is 24 with a "feels like temp of 13º heading for an overnight low of 16 and I don't want to know what the "feels like" will be at that point.

I've finished the laundry except for a load of towels and I may not do them today or tomorrow.  I have some I haven't used yet.  However, I want all of you to know that kleenex does not wash well.  No matter how diligent I am at checking pockets, I always manage to wash a kleenex.  And I don't wash it with something insignificant, like underwear or towels.  I do it with my one and only DARK load.  And I end up with little white dots on everything.  I don't understand how one errant kleenex can spread itself so far.  There are dots on the clothing, dots on the floor all the way from the laundry room down the hall to the bedroom.  Thank goodness, I didn't succumb to the urge to vacuum while the clothes were doing their thing.  I can do that later and get the dots.  I think they are driving me "dotty"!
