Thus a blessed night of sleep to you and tomorrow much better as we all love you too :)

Shirley

Okay, June, I stayed in my jammies until this evening when I took my Sat night scrub down to be ready for church early in the morning.  Actually, last night it felt cold to me, think I was just over tired, so I got out my camping-sleeping-sweats (with hoodie).  Felt so cozy I left them on when I got up to feed cats & have my breakfast, planning to take my shower early.  Don't know where the morning went but soon was noon & time to eat again & then a nap that lasted until 4:30 & time to eat again (and feed cats).  The evening was spent answering the phone & changing clocks so my brain is registering the hour that I moved clocks forward already.  Except when I glance at the computer clock.  I am ready for bed except one cat missing her midnight snack (that comes to them about 10:00 pm).  She will show up before 10 & after eating will go to sleep in the garage.  She decided she doesn't want to sleep in the heated bed & was laying on top of the table saw, so I put a small rug on it for her & turned off the bed.  Sleep sound & restful!

Amy, our redwinged blackbirds are back & I love to hear their song & billowing love call.  One was chasing & ran into my front storm door & instantly died.  Happened when I was right there but no chance to save it.  Oh, yuck with the barnyard bucking.... I usually walked the horse I rode most often out to the pasture with soft grass because he looked for an excuse to toss me.  I rode him bareback, easier to slide off than getting feet tangled in stirrups.

Why is it that it is the dark load of clothes that hide the Kleenex?  I pick off the big stuff & hope the dryer gets the rest, but they seem to grow in the washer & create lots of "crumblies" that fall on the floor.

Hal, so sorry about the wreck, don't be in a rush to sign a release.  After someone hit my car in the rear & I didn't think any problem, I woke up a few days later with a back that would not bend or let me look down.  Try changing a baby diaper without looking down!  Take care, glad you & Pat are okay.... so far.

Carol, I've never tried spray moisturizers but with our lack of humidity my skin is so dry I'm afraid a hard sneeze will break me all apart.  What do you use?  Please?  That fresh caught fish sounds SO good.

PBS has wonderful old music on tonight.... original performers singing.  Sure beats the "talk" media racket!

Sweet dreams & God Bless All....   hope we get news from Joan tomorrow.
  :bestwishes: :dove:

JaneS

I'm glad I'm not the only one who washes kleenex but if we have to, why does it have to be the DARK stuff?

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

Just stopping in to say good night.

Son and DIL arrived home after a wonderful visit to Sydney.  We looked at there pictures and got to see a lot of what they got to see a do.

HAL, I am sorry to read about the mishap last night.....I do hope you and your wife continue to be OK.  Maybe the new back brace kept you from hurting your back more.

Continued thoughts and prayers for you, JOAN.

Hope tomorrow will be a better day for you, Sweet JUNE.

Jeanne Lee....quoting: " Join the well washed Kleenex Club!  I think we've probably all done that."

...Wrong, :P  but then, maybe I have luck on my side as I haven't done that yet...but there is still plenty of time left for me to do so...
...........................................

Our Joan is staying in hospital longer than I had hoped, I do know she had looked in ( yesterday, ) since she went into hospital, unless someone is using Joan's profile log - in...so not sure if she is still in hospital or been sent home, we await her first posting with anticipation.....In the meantime I shall include Joan in my Sunday morning prayers..

Lloyd Hammond

good Morning everyone.
I think all of our prayers are with Bis. she is a life long friend for all of us.
Best sort of friend.
Have a great day everyone.

the other day I told you all , wasn't going to tell about my day.
I have decided to tell you all about two days.
first of the two I took my truck tractor and low boy tailor and went Kansas and got some good used rails for my bulldozer, got home alright.
next day I unloaded the rails, and took the truck up to neighbors to get my bulldozer, got it laded and started home with it made it to top of hill and went to turn, all she wrote spun out. had to unload it.in the process it slid off side of tailor. the sudden stop threw a battery charger i had on it off on the ground
and me out of the seat and in to the toolbox (part of the bulldozer).
I now have a round purple spot on my stomach a little larger than a large grape fruit. not sore or never was. Nancy and most of you tell me to quit or slow down. well I won't quit I would dye with boredom. I think however I will line up lot of the big machinery and call a auctioneer this spring and slow down. everyone to have a great day. hope bis is well on her way to a good recovery and be able to join us again.

Lloyd

Amy

Good morning everyone

Lloyd!!! Mercy, what are we going to do with you?? I must admit I was happy to read about selling off the big machinery. Time you took care of yourself too.

A day of rest here, will play in the sewing room for a bit today, maybe do the clean up I was to do the other day and didn't.

Golden girl is going much better now, the bandage she came home with is long gone plus two more that I put on her.Tis a difficult spot to try and keep a bandage on.

I had better get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's still very cold here this morning and the high will be only 31º and that for only a couple of hours around high noon.

Lloyd, I for one, think you've made a good decision to rid yourself of the large equipment.  You still have your cows, shop and you can have a garden as large of as small as you can manage. That sounds like a good life for anyone.  You might find that you enjoy the other farm jobs more if you don't do the big jobs with the big equipment that doesn't seem to like you any more.

I'm probably a poor one to be giving advice on slowing down but I really have looked carefully at my life and I've given up some of the things I used to take for granted.  Knowing or limitations is very important in the aging process.  That does NOT mean giving up!  It just means making a few changes and isn't that what life is all about?

Make today a good one!

Shirley

I have a few minutes before leaving for church so thought I'd see if Joan got home.  I'm really concerned that they are keeping her so long, but IF she caught that flu it lasts about a month & heard on radio news man that said the same was going around in TX & other parts of the US.  Funny that the main TV news media doesn't "obsess" over a health issue that one radio report said was killing people.  The TX reporter made a comment that this flu did not get a name like the Asian flu, etc., of years ago.  I know Joan has other health problems that can only make it worse for her, so will be praying hard that her doctors find something that helps.

Lloyd, I do understand that you will never "retire" to do nothing, but we do have limits as we get older.  I caught your comment about "not telling about your day".....  so knew it was a bad one.  Stay safe & think your auction sounds like a good idea.  Hope you pick one that does plenty of advertising & is honest!  You can keep busy with the greenhouse & do some year around raising veggies for you & Nancy.  Should keep you out of trouble!

Jackie, good luck with NOT washing a Kleenex in a dark load of clothes..... such a mess!  I have done it more than once & I always check every pocket at least twice.  Not sure where they hide~~

Amy, glad the Golden Girl is doing okay.  We do worry about our fur-babies, don't we?

JaneS, you are the eternal "pink bunny" Energizer... and put us all to shame with all you do.  Keep on keeping on.

I'm off & running.  Wishing all of you a "Super Sunday" (thanks, Callie).... We didn't see a drop of moisture....    :tissue:  Shirley

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  We have had rain throughout the night and it is to continue until about noon today.  This will be a chilly day for us only getting into the low 50's.  We are planning on going to Sunday School and Church and then will probably go to Ruby Tuesday's to take advantage of their two hamburgers for one price.  They have good hamburgers. Nothing else on the schedule for the rest of the day other than to rest and to watch more college basketball and the end of the Golf Tournament in Florida. Yesterday I was finally able to get the final information I needed for my income taxes and finished them up, filed them, and have gotten acceptance notices from both the Federal and State.  So that is done for another year.  I did watch a lot of basketball and a little of the golf yesterday afternoon.

Hal, certainly was glad to read that neither you or your wife were injured in that accident.  At least the young man who hit you stopped and gave you his information.  Now you will have to deal with getting your car repaired.  Since the other person caused the accident his insurance company should pick up the costs but you still have a lot of hassle in getting the car repaired.

Carol, I did reset our bedroom clocks last night before retiring.  I think the clock on the stove is the only one left to reset as changed my watch this morning.  I am sure glad the computers reset automatically.  Do you use a water cooler in your house there in Tuscon?  My folks had that type of cooling in their mobile home in Apache Junction.

JaneS, Callie and Jeanne we also have membership in the tissue in the laundry club. Not pleasant although the dryer filter catches most of it.

June, sure hope you are feeling more pep today and had a good night's sleep.

Shirley, I often think how great it would be to have a show like the old Ed Sullivan or one of the shows headed by a singer with singing and humor and perhaps skits.  I guess that is not to be.

Jenny, I bet you were glad to see your Son and DIL walk in the door and know they were safely home.

Lloyd, glad to see you are thinking seriously of selling off some of your machinery and slowing down.  Glad you were not seriously hurt.  Do you live on a mud road?

halkel

Good MOrning Everyone!

Well we have a front blowing in, wind is cold and a little moisture is coming in with it.  Just enough to wet the ground and make things really miserable.  Larry, my insurance says they will contact the other party's insurance and make a claim for me.  But like you say, still have to go through all the rest of it getting car repaired.  Just renting a car is a job anymore.

Janie, Tisie and all others, Kleenex in the wash just proves God does have a sense of humor.......

Lloyd, well, just Lloyd. Watch that first step, it's a humdinger.

Got to get a move on.  Got to get to getting.....

Gloria

Good morning everyone, another cold one here, on the teens again. All the talk  here is about the storm we are in for. We are in for a good ole Nor'easter. Not just a possible foot or more of snow but strong wind, too. I sure am glad I do not have to go anywhere this week. I said I was waiting for the other shoe to fall, guess this is the week it falls. Like yesterday the sun is shining but doing little to warm up. Anyone over sleep this morning or forget to change their clocks? Only 2 I had to change, microwave and the wall clock in the kitchen.

LARRY  I did not see anything about those viewing the parade in Newport yesterday but I doubt there was the usual big crowds. I know I stayed inside and will today, too. With the wind I just heard on TV it will feel like below zero most of the day.

JOY  Mother Nature sure teased us this winter.

JANE  well being lazy and productive sure sounds like me. I am more productive in laying on the couch during the day lately.

SHIRLEY  I keep scolding my daughter about picking up heavy things but she ignores me. Now that they are living so far out in the boonies I do worry about her. I know they both love it there and have good neighbors, Their closest one has a helicopter pad on his land  and I hope they never have to use it.

HAL  sorry about that accident. Hope you both feel OK today. I have heard often that most accidents happen close to home. Glad you had that brace on at the time. I can only stand a few minutes on my own before I have to hold onto something.

AMY  after all you did yesterday you deserve a good rest today.

JANE  like you  I hope that snow holds off long enough for your family to fly out and get home before the snow starts.

CAROL  the time change has always bothered my daughter and now that they are living in Arizona she is happy she no longer has to deal with it. They had a bill in this state and another new England state to leave it alone but both were defeated. Who and where did the idea of changing the time originate anyway. Cannot see where it helps anyone.

JANE  thanks for the laugh. I know what you mean about kleenex. When my 3 were still home some had a way of ending in the wash. Big mess.

JUNE  hope you feel better today. I have had days where I just felt worn out when getting up in the morning and stayed in nightgown and robe all day. That always seems to be the time someone knocks on my door.

LLOYD  it would be great if you stopped with all that big machinery. You could always do more in your woodworking shop. You have showed us some of the beautiful things you have made.

AMY  glad you're Golden girl now has the bandage off.  I hope you do take it easy today.

LARRY  sad to say but the good family shows we enjoyed are a thing of the past. I find lately I have been watching more of MY TV where they have a lot of the old shows.

I was so hoping for some news about JOAN this morning. I pray for her and know we all miss her posts.

SHIRLEY...
...talking of not ever running a washing machine with a tissue inside, but I did do a stupid thing the other day...Oh yes, I did fill up my spin dryer with my hand washed and dripping cashmere tops, and oh yes, I did plug the spin dryer in, and oh yes I did turn it turn...only I forgot one important thing, the bowl I place underneath for catching the water...Well I dont need to tell you how much water came gushing out that soaked the mat and the wooden under-flooring...just as well it was close to a hot radiator...

Ha ha, Jackie, nice to know we all goof now & then, "misery loves company".

"God does have a sense of humor".......... Good point, Hal!

Good ones, Gloria!  I thought I'd pull up one I saved that Joan posted some time ago... since we are close to St. Paddy's  Day:  Compliments of Joan........

Patton staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Paddy.   He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Kathleen.

He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step.   As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump.   A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful.
Managing not to yell, Patton sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding.   He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a Band-Aid as best he could on each place he saw blood.

He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed..

In the morning, Patton woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Kathleen staring at him from across the room.

She said, 'You were drunk again last night weren't you?'

Patton said, 'Why would you say such a mean thing?'

'Well,' Kathleen said, 'it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly ....... it's all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror.

Good Morning,
Still cloudy and cold in central Oklahoma.   I suspect Hal is now getting the weather that came through here yesterday.

Hal, so sorry about your accident.  Glad you and your wife weren't injured.

Lloyd, Janie, et al:  There's a difference between "giving in" and "giving up".  The first is necessary as we age.  The second is not an option (IMO).   :smitten:

Shirley,  thanks for finding one of Joan's  :2funny:  stories to share again.

Good Sunday morning.  Still is morning here on the east coast.  For a little bit yet.

I was so hoping to see a message from Joan this morning.  I sure hope she is getting better and soon be back here.

Gloria, I enjoyed reading the New Age definitions.  Hope you don't mind if I share them on our resident's bulletin board.  I think they will give some of our residents a little laugh.   They have started a new activity to try to get some more people involved in things.  I have been sharing some of the trivia quizzes that have been on the "Fun things to do" here on S & F.  Hard to get people interested in doing "anything".

I did remember to set my clocks ahead. I only had 2 to do....... a small battery clock that I keep on a table by my chair and my watch.  I do have a large wall clock that I will have to wait until my son comes to change that one.  I can take it down, but have trouble getting it put back up. And, of course, all the electronic things seem to know to change automatically.  it always really boggles my mind to think these kind of things know exactly when to make changes.  I remember when I got my new Kindle,  all the books and other things that I had installed on my old Kindle, just automatically appeared on the new one.  I often think about what our past generations would think of all this new stuff that we just take for granted now.  Really is mind-boggling !!!!!

It is a pretty sunny morning, but from what the weather man is telling us, we are due to get hit hard by the snow storm that is working it's way east.  They are calling for about a foot of snow where I live.   I have an appointment on Thurs. afternoon to get my taxes done, so I am hoping by then, the roads and weather will be ok.

Shirley, hope you made it to church on time this morning.  Do you still meet up with some of your family for breakfast ?  You haven't mentioned lately about  all the cooking that you do sometime. Have you slowed down a little in that category??

Lloyd, I am sorry to hear that you have injured yourself, AGAIN !.  You remind me of my dad..... He was a workaholic and wasn't happy unless he was working on something.  He had been a builder and foreman  of several stone quarries throughout his working years, and when he finally retired, he spent several years remodeling the house he was born in for me and my family to move into.  We lived in that house for many years and it was finally demolished after we were flooded out during the hurricane Agnes during the 70's.   He was a very hard worker over his lifetime.  He loved working with concrete.

I need to get myself moving.  Here it is just about lunchtime, and I need to get a shower and get dressed and get on with the day.

Sure hope Joan is improving and will be around soon.

Joy

Mary Ann

I remembered to set my clocks (at least two) ahead but Dot did not.  When it got to be 8:20 and she still had not appeared, I called her.  We decided to go out for our usual breakfast instead and I don't know about solving the world's problems, but we did talk a lot.

Mary Ann

halkel

Hmmmm, guess a lot of folks in our church forgot to re-set their clocks, lots of folks absent for the first service.   I will find out how many were there for the second service when I got to count the offering.

It is pretty cool out, really cold to us.

Lloyd Hammond

Joy  thought about teh rock quarry I have a rock crusher and two ledges of rock
that are seam rock, could be dug out with one of my big track hows and fed to the rock crusher. I may do that yet and not get in a hurry. I even have a screening Plant that will size out  in two Ben's and the third large pieces out on the ground to be used as rip rap or re ran though the crusher.  I may do a little of that but may be running out of energy for that think the wood shop sounds better. I could higher someone to run the crusher but don't think I want that liability. so most likely i will sell it at the sale. take it easy and have a great day.

Good afternoon on another very cold day. Not a cloud in the sky. Wait until tomorrow night, that is all that is on the news blizzard and high winds. Of course it is suppose to start around Midnight.  If the power goes off, I will already be in bed.  Maybe I can stay warm.

Hal, I am glad to see you both OK, after accident.

Lloyd ,you do have the right idea, sell the big machinery and let someone else worry about repairs to it.

I used to walk everywhere. Ten or more miles to and from work each day, rambling around for hours at the wildlife sanctuary, camera in hand, and strolling around the many summer festivals, after walking into town!

The majority of my jobs were hospitality or retail, middle management and once, manager of a small hotel, so I was often on my feet and moving. I loved it and had many adventures with tourists, employees, wildlife, and weather.

Once,(1981); in the cycling club, I belonged to, I rode in a group, 43 miles to Harding Lake, camped out overnight and rode back with the group the next day.
Another time with two friends in 2005, I walked 25 miles to Fox, upwards on a ridge and got a ride back. Those were the days. Then in February 2014, I fell solidly on both knees, onto black ice. That was the end of my walking and discovering the wisdom to retire from employment.
