Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Good morning all...guess we all get a bla day. Occasionally..I had one Sunday....Marlyin..I know how you feel..I have a grandson and his fiancé..who are in a off...on. Relationship...what's bad is they have a little boy..age 5. That their actions are affecting him...he loves both his parents of course and wants to be with both...that's what I told my daughter...all we can do is love them and pray for them....Jane.. bet you are enjoying being home..we are have nice warm to hot days..I am walking every day...Sue hope you are feeling better. Darlene

maryz

Glad you're getting out and walking, Darlene.  It won't be long before it's too hot for you to do that.

I went to Silver Sneakers this morning (was the only one there for most of the class).  And I found out that a number of the residents here had a "bug" over the weekend.  So I guess mine was something I picked up here.  In any case, it seems to be gone, and now it's just a matter of getting back strength.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Mary, I'm glad the weekend went well (until you got sick).  Is there anything worse than a stomach upset?   So glad you're feeling better and up to doing some exercise.

Sue, sorry you've been ill also. I bet the USC win over Duke perked you up though.

Marilyn, that is so sad about Gilbert & his wife. I hope they are able to work it out. It must be hard on the child or children. Can't remember if he has more than the girl.  Prayer is all you can do. I've been there with one of my daughters, so I can empathize.

Darlene, glad you weather is good for walking.  Ours is supposed to hit 80 today!!  Then rain tonight and 60's tomorrow.  Oh well, it's March.

Joy, congrats to the LSU gymnastics team!

Jane, it sounds like your band were easy guests!  Having clean rugs is so nice.  I had mine done last fall, so am okay now.

My cleaning lady came today & I was planning to finish the cabinets with her, but since I can't bend, lift or stretch, put it off till next time.  I also had to go back to the pain clinic for the technician to reprogram me. I still don't think it is doing much for my back, but plan to go walk around in a bit and see how it does.  Tomorrow is John's eye procedure in the morning and then I go back to the pain clinic to have this removed and to tell them whether I want to have it surgically implanted.

I did get my hair done yesterday. And I can't wait for my shower tomorrow night!!

Braeden finally chose a college--U of Missouri.  I was kind of surprised. He had also been accepted by U of Ill and Purdue, but I guess he connected best at Mizzou. His major is going to be atmospherical sciences!  I thought it was going to be physics or engineering. The change in his major may have been one of the deciding factors in his choice also.  We'll have to call him and find out the details.
Sharon

Marilyn

Sherry There is also a 16 yr of grandson, Sarah has filed for divorce and was looking for a process server on Facebook last night. I commented to please not put her personal business on Facebook and she sent me a nasty message back then blocked me. There isn't anything I can do. I can't even reach Gilbert because he has the sound off on his phone and doesn't answer the landline anymore. He is oh so so sad and depresssed, I can barely keep from crying with him. I gave the best advice I could about  trying to get him  back on his feet but he says he is just paralyzed  emotional and can't do anything but drink. I hate that he is an alchoholic.

SCFSue

I'm still in my P.J.s at 3:20 this afternoon--and I've been lazing on my bed most of the day.  I'm still feeling yucky and don't want to eat, but am trying.  I had instant oatmeal this morning with some raisins, but so far nothing else.  I'm not wanting to have more diarrhea.  I keep looking in my fridge thinking I'll find something that both appeals to me and doesn't make me feel queasy.  So far, no good.

Jane, are you and Ray settled back into your usual activities yet?  It sounds like you've been keeping busy.

Marilyn, I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about Gilbert.  I know you must be terribly worried--and really all you can do is pray for them all and hope that something good may come out of the situation.

Darlene, I'm sad for your grandson's situation, too.  It's tough when relationships get ugly especially when children are involved.  I know you're praying for a solution and hope it works out for all especially the little boy.  That's especially tough for young ones.

Mary, good for you for sticking with Silver Sneakers.  I didn't walk today, since I'm not dressed, but should have made myself. I'm still feeling my "bug" but hope it leaves me soon.

Sharon, I'm sure Braeden will enjoy his time at Mizzou.  It's a good school academically and also does well with athletics.  They are in our SEC conference, so AU plays football with them, not every year, but some.  More often basketball as there are many more games in a BBall season.  He's chosen an interesting major.  I think it might have both physics and engineering classes, too.  I'm sure you'll know more when you talk to him.

I'm looking for another book to read and am thinking I might try to find something to eat that will be soothing.

Sue

Marilyn

darlen sorry that I missed your post, I will pray for your grandson and fiance. It is so tough of the kids. My grandson will be 17 in a couple of weeks and he can always go move in with m y grand daughter. It is Gilbert I am so worried about. I just spoke with him he is sober at this time and planning on going back to his AA meetings.

SharonE

Marilyn, I didn't realize Gilbert was an alcoholic, but it sounds like he's taken the first step to pulling himself up out of it. I hope he has a good mentor in AA who will help him get back on his feet.  Hugs for you and prayers for him and the children.

Sue, sorry you're still feeling yucky.  It may sound strange but peanut butter on crackers or bread helps me.

Well, Ms Frances just called and wants me to come over, so have to leave.  Sharon

jane

Sue: I see that AU is going to hire Leath from Iowa State.

Marilyn: I hope G gets the help he needs.

Sharon: Have you decided for or against the implant for your pain?

Darlene: I don't envy you that hot weather.  It was unusually hot for us this winter...set records a couple of times.

Mary: Sounds as if a "bug" is going around your building.

Nephew came home from work Friday with temp of 102, totally white in the face and hands with purple/black on the tips of his fingernails and shivering.  They called his doc...talked to a triage nurse who had him move around to get circ back in his hands and feet.  He was sick until Sunday, and then was ok.  A co-worker he was at a Conference with came down with this "bug" on Monday.  So...something at the Conference or on airplanes/airports got them both.

Tonight we're going out to Taco Tuesday...and we are slowly getting back into our normal routines.  I'm glad to have the carpet done, and we're close to deciding on the kitchen counters.  We have to find out about what we need for a faucet in the kitchen to filter our water and then get that located and on to the counter ordering and installation.

jane

maryz

Good luck with your remodeling, jane. Glad your nephew is better now - that sounded scary.

Sue, sorry you've had a bug, too.

I just decided not to go to swimming in the morning.  I went up to supper, but really didn't feel like eating much, and am still puny.  I'm definitely not going to push anything.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Marilyn

Gilbert has an AA sponser and will be going back to the meetings. His drinking has increased over the last two years when Sarah started talking about divorce and sleeping around. More so in the last 6-8 months.

SCFSue

Marilyn, I'm glad Gilbert is seeing his AA sponsor and will go back to meetings.  Prayers for him and you, too.

Mary, I'm with you about not eating much and am puny.  I'm just afraid I'll upchuck!  Yuck!  I hope you feel better soon (and me, too!).

Jane, that's yucky about your nephew and his friend.  I'll bet there were plenty of germs on their flights.  It sounds like you and Ray have really been busy "spring cleaning" since you came home.  The improvements sounds really nice.

Sharon, I still feel quesy (sp?) this morning but managed to eat some cheerios and drink one small cup of coffee.  My nose is running, too.  Tim is picking me up at 1:30 for my annual mammogram which I'm having done locally this time.  I'll ask them to forward the results to my onc in Montgomery and my GP here.

Has anyone heard from GinnyAnn?  I'm worried, so GinnyAnn if you are looking in, just give us a wave.

Have a good day, Buddies.
Sue

SharonE

I'm sorry to hear that both Sue & Mary are still puny. I hope you're feeling better today.

Jane, you've gotten a lot done since you got home!!

Marilyn, I'm glad Gilbert has a good AA sponsor. Maybe he can help him get back on the wagon.  If his wife was acting that way, no wonder he relapsed.

I took John for his eye procedure this morning, picked up some Arby's on the way home and will have to leave in a few minutes for my appt to get this apparatus removed.  I have decided against having the implant. It just wasn't doing enough for me to warrant having it. It's really depressing because I don't know of anything else I can do to get relief.

I'm worried about Ginny also, but I did get some game requests on FB from her. So she must be online.

All for now. Need to ck my email before going to the dr.   Sharon

maryz

Sharon, I'm sorry the trial hasn't worked for you.  I know you had some hopes for it.  I hope John does well.

Sue, I'm sorry you're still puny.  I thought I was much better yesterday, but  knew during the night that today wasn't going to be good.  I haven't been nauseated, but I have had absolutely no energy.  I'm spent most of the day in my chair, had my lunch brought in, and had slept twice during the day (so far).  I'm invited to a surprise bridge birthday party on Saturday, and I'm already wondering if I should find some way to cancel.

Our high temperature was 83 (!) yesterday, and then the storm line came through about suppertime.  There was lightning and thunder, high winds, hail, power outages, and it was over in about an hour.  I had maybe 0.25" of rain in my gauge.  Today is sunny, but temps only in the 50s - much more comfortable.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

I just got back from the doctor and got all the leads out.  Yea!  I had decided not to go on with the implant, however, they exrayed my back and discovered the lead had moved that was supposed to cover the part of my back with the worst pain, so now I have to meet with the Dr. next Fri and discuss whether I have another trial or go for the implant.  Nothing is ever simple. Just glad I can take a shower now.

Mary, sure hope you get to feeling better soon.  Saturday is still a ways off. Maybe you'll be okay by then.  Sharon

Marilyn

Good afternoon Buddies, Well family problems still exist. Gilbert is now staying at Savannah's house. I have talked with him today and told him to just =stay away from Sarah, she is bad news right now and out to get him any way she can. She had him arrested  last evening, Savannah bailed him out in the wee hours today. They had to take him to the hospital for high blood pressure and his asthma. But  at least hie is out now and has his medication. Savannah snuck into his house last night to get his meds.

What a mess, Marilyn!  My heart goes out to you all.

Sharon, glad there's still a possibility that the stimulator might work.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Sharon...I hope you can do another trial...and with an implant, the leads couldn't move, could they?

Marilyn...I'm glad your son had a place to go.  Separation of the two sounds definitely needed.

Jane

SCFSue

Tim called my neurologist this morning and she told him about an over the counter medication that can help with it.  I've taken a couple of doses and am still a bit quesy, but not so much, so hopefully it will help without having to take more meds.

I was disappointed in my mammo at the local medical center yesterday.  I had the usual breast squashing exam, but no results were given--will be sent to my GP here and my Oncologist in Montgomery.  However the mammo's I receive at the Montgomery Cancer Center are more thorough and patients can't get dressed until the pathologist who exams each mammo says it's OK.  He/She looks it over and we are not permitted to dress until he/she gives an OK--otherwise they do another.  I always have trouble with them as my breast cancer side is very difficult to get under the "masher" because my breast is so small.  As far as I know, the exam picture will be sent to the GP here and the Oncologist in Montgomery.  I hope they let me know ASAP is all is well.

I had a lengthy chat with sister Anne this afternoon, not much new, just more of our usual about family and friends and what we're doing.  She is a Canasta player and sets up games for other players and a new member doesn't like the way they're set up, but doesn't want to help fix it to suit herself.  I'm glad my bridge friends are all very cordial and never fuss about anything.  We are all very tolerant of our 97 y.o. member in one club and just know when she's our partner, we won't win that round!

Mary, I'm not quite as nauseous since taking the first 2 doses of Emetrol which the neurologist endorsed as a first try to stop the nausea.  So it seems to be working a bit.  I'll keep you posted.  And lack of energy has been a problem since last Saturday.  Tim did walk the 3 blocks down to the corner and back with me this morning, so that's good.

Jane, at one time, I had an attachment to my kitchen faucet to filter the water.  However, the water here in Auburn is highly rated and I don't feel I need it any longer.  I hope your nephew is fully recovered from the "bug".

Has anyone heard from GinnyAnn?

Have a nice evening, Every Buddy.
Sue

jane

I wish GinnyAnn would let us know how she is.

Sue...I get those "screening" mammos now, too, instead of the "diagnostic" ones, and these are the computer-aided ones.  They check that the mammo is clear and can be read by a radiolgist, but then let me go...and they call within two days if they need you to come back.  So, if two days go by and no call, I know all is well and my surgeon then confirms it at my appt with him the week after the mammo.

I didn't do much today...second night of back spasms.  It's dreary put tonight nd had a thinderstorm an hour ago.  More rain tomorrow and the weekend.

I'm watching MI -OR basketball game.

Jane

Marilyn

Sherry I believe it was you that mentioned Gilbert. He is doing better, in a better frame of miind and sober, He was talking with his sponsor when I called him and going to a meeting tonight. He had been pout selling some of his glass work and paid some bills. He was blowing mor glass when I spoke with him.

maryz

Marilyn, glad Gilbert has been able to settle down a bit - that'll help him function better (and Mom, too).

I'm better today - even got out to coffee with my swim buddies.  That'll probably be it for me for the day, though.  My sister-in-law thought maybe I might have had one of the mild types of flu.  Maybe so.  I did have the flu shot, and that would've made it a lighter case.  Oh, well - I don't much care - as long as I'm better.   ;)  I'm planning on going to the bridge/birthday party tomorrow.

Happy almost-weekend, Buddies!

SCFSue

I'm up and about late this morning.  I read too far past my bedtime last night--not an unusual occurrence.  I've had breakfast, done a load of wash, dried and put it away, so I feel a small sense of accomplishment.  Tim said he'd stop by sometime today.  Fridays he visits estate and garage sales in search of treasures to resell.  Lots of people who have sales don't realize what they are selling--according to Tim!

It's already lunch time and I'm not in the mood for much of anything to eat, but might make a large Waldorf salad and have a sandwich.  I had Raisin Bran with extra raisins for breakfast.  I've taken a dose of the anti-nausea medicine and hope that helps my tummy.

Have a nice day--are you watching the basketball tournaments?
Sue

JeanneP

I now take a Blood Presure pll that includes a Diuretic.  Wish I could figure out the best time to take it. I have to get up during the night if I take it at 10pm. Messed me up if I took it with breakfast.  Dr. no help.  I don't think men doctors like to talk about the leak problem. Although I am amazed now as to how many men have it.
Let me know if you have gotten any good advice .

I always was told if you take lasix......it takes six hours to get rid of it.....my b/p med is working finally......I take it in the morning after breakfast...CC

Marilyn

My husband takes his BB and the Diretic fiorst thing after he gets dressed  in the morning

maryz

I take my BP med with my other meds right after breakfast.  But I still have to get up at night.  ;)

I think I will try to change it to Morning. At least you are up and not trying to sleep.

Rainy, cold, windy Sat. morning here.

Sue..Yes, I'm watching basketball.  Wow...some great games, too.  Ray and I each picked two teams to make to the final 4.  He took Duke and AZ...so he's lost both.  I took the K's....Kansas and Kentucky...so far, so good! :coolsmiley:

Mary...glad you're feeling better.  Lots of flu around here.

I feel as if a 100 lb has been lifted off my shoulders.  We finally made a decision on counters and sink...and got them ordered.  We went with laminate and a quartz sink and picked out the new faucet.  Plumber was out and he's going to redirect our kitchen sink water line to go through a filter we already have in the basement so we don't, hopefully, need the separate filtered water faucet.  He said it it didn't work, we can always add that as drilling though laminate is no problem.

Wet weekend here...so we're going to be doing "inside" stuff and watching basketball.

jane

SCFSue

Good afternoon, Buddies.  I slept later again, so was off to a slow start.  I have managed to wash my bed spread and flannel pillow sham covers, so that's out of the way until I change back to summer bedding.  I just have one lightweight blanket on my bed now, so it's fine on warmer evenings if I put the spread down.

I'm watching women's basketball and of course UConn is killing UCLA, so Gino stays at the front of the pack.  I'm thinking my South Carolina Lady Gamecocks will end up against him again in the finals and I am pretty sure his team will win or he might have a conniption fit if not!  My SC male Gamecocks are playing really well in the men's NIT.  They defeated Duke last week and I forget who the opponent was last night, but Carolina won 70 to 55.  Our men's coach is a really tough looking guy--but after defeating Duke last week, he was struggling with tears of pride at the end of the game.  I am really proud of them this year--and every Carolina home game is a sell out--and lots of the fans have followed him to the tournament.

Jane, your kitchen plans sound great.  Your plumber sounds like a winner to filter the line in the basement.  I hope it works out as he plans.

The OTC anti-nausea med that my neurologist suggested when Tim called her seems to be working.  I don't feel as queasy although I am being cautious about what I'm eating.  The name is Emetrol and seems to be working.  Today I've only had one dose and think I won't take another unless I am feeling like I need it.

We may get some bad weather later this evening.  I'd love to have some rain as it is very difficult to drag the hoses around or carry buckets from my rain barrel.  We haven't had much rain at all this winter which is usually our rainy season.

Have a nice weekend, Buddies, and may your Girl's team win (unless you are rooting for UConn!).
Sue
