Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Now when you get your driving licenses renewed in other States other than Illinois.
Like Mary says she did. got hers for 5 years. Another says renewed  Longer and she did it on line. Age 92 I believe. Don't they always have to go out on a Road Test.  We do here.  Maybe they think at around 92 you are not using them anyway.

I start thinking bad once it is time for me to go for mine now every year. I think if one has not had Accidents (Not had any in 50 years). They should keep it at the every 2 years at least.
JeanneP

JeanneP

Jane.  You really sent some storm over to us.  Trees down and really pouring.

I have my Laundry ready to go and I am completely out of Paper towel.  Amazing how hard it is to be without the Paper towel.

Can't see getting out today now unless it really clears up fast.
JeanneP

maryz

Jeanne, it was me who got my license renewed for 10 years on-line, no testing, on my 80th birthday.  I was very surprised, to say the least.

We're due to get a couple of storm lines overnight, but no severe weather predicted. I went for my mani/pedi this morning - always a good thing.  I played bridge here at the Terrace this evening.  We played for about 1 1/2 hours, and my partner and I got all the cards.  Great for us, but not so much for the others.  Duplicate tomorrow afternoon.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Jeanne....yikes on your storms.

Mary...always more fun with good cards!

Rain finally ended here yesterday and moved on towad Chicago.  Still gloomy and overcast and cold here.  I don't see us going out except for Friday night supper out with friends and they'll be driving.

Jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, we finally got a little bit of rain last night, but not much. It is still cloudy but warm and fairly sunny.  I had an 8 AM appt clear in Ballentyne (about 10-12 miles from here) and was worried about rain, darkness and traffic, but no problem. Rain had stopped, it was fairly light, and the traffic was moderate. I got there early.

The pain doctor said that if I want to continue to pursue this, he definitely thinks I need to do the trial again!!  That requires insurance approval, labs, and appt, so I doubt that will happen before May.

After I finished there, I had another appt in the same area at 10:30 with my therapist, so sat in her office for an hour and a half and read.  I really like her, but don't know that she's helping me all that much.  She told me I am to go outside for a half hr every day that's decent weather, even if I sit on the patio & read. She thinks that will raise my spirits a lot. So guess I will try.

Jonathan just called for a chat. First time in quite a while that I had talked to him.

Mary, it sounds like you had a really good day yesterday! Hope your duplicate today went well.

Jeanne, sorry for your storms.

Jane, glad your storms are over. Enjoy your dinner out.

Sue, that is so sad about your jewelry because I know much of it had sentimental value. It's good that Tim is helping keep you organized with all your papers, etc.

Hi to all. Sharon

maryz

Sharon, John battled depression, but never felt it was bad enough for him to want medication or therapy.  He knew at least part of it was due to SAD (seasonal affective disorder), so he usually managed it with sunlight and exercise.  I know the sunlight exposure really does help.  I hope it might do you some good, too.

We were sort of in the middle this afternoon at bridge, at 50+%, and got 0.10 MP - so not too bad.  It was cool this morning, but is just lovely this afternoon.  I checked with my CPA this morning - she's going to bring my tax stuff on Monday.  I'll be glad to get that done with for the year (except write checks).  Nothing on the schedule for this weekend.

Hi Buddies....not much going on with me....will have kids and grands Easter weekend....I'm seeking opinions....what to do when you have more grey than natural hair color.....Not sure I want to let it go all grey yet...if one has low lights or high liters...does it look good in your opinion....I would think it would fade as fast as color.....which is a lot of upkeep....have a great weekend all Darlene

It is such a beautiful day here on the Oregon coast, Cool but Beautiful. I've had freckles for 23 walks already. I think that will be it for today. We will be going out for our usual Friday night dinner at Los Dos Amigos with friends. Then after that I have music practice at the church at 6:30 I will be practicing All is Well with my  Soul to sing in the next few weeks.

Gilbert is doing well going to 2 AA meeting per day and staying away from Sarah, he asked Keith and I to write Character Witness letters so we did.

SCFSue

Hi Buddies.  My regular village friend who takes me to Kroger is still out of town, so the Village Friends employee called me yesterday to tell me who would come to get me today.  She was a nice person, maybe not quite as old as I am, and she did her shopping while I did mine.  She came to pick me up at 11:00 and we were home before 12:00.  Evidently Friday doesn't attract lots of folks until around 4:00 or 5:00 when schools and jobs are over.

I've been reading a pretty good murder mystery today--Web of Evil--by J.A. Jance. Fortunately it had a good ending with the crooks caught and on the way to prison.

It's nice and sunny here today.  I had a nice walk around the block this morning before going to Kroger.  I bought some soup in the deli and made a turkey/cheese sandwich for my lunch.  I also was BAD and bought a bag of potato chips.  I haven't opened them yet, but they won't last long.  I also bought Sea Salt Caramel Truffle ice cream on my driver's recommendation and will have some after I fix something to eat for supper.

What has happened to the thingies at the top of the pages which permit you to underline and other cool things like that?  Sometimes I like to underline book titles when I recommend them to others.

Any news from GinnyAnn?  I am going to dig through my e-mail address book in hope of finding hers.  I'm also concerned about MaryPage as she hasn't been here for a while.

Have a nice evening, Buddies.  My South Carolina Lady Gamecocks are playing tonight, I think, but I need to check my newspaper to confirm this.

Sue

maryz

Go Lady Gamecocks!  Sue, JAJance has been one of my favorite authors for a long time.

Marilyn, glad to hear that Gilbert is doing well.  I hope he can keep it up.

Darlene, several of the gals in my swim group have let their hair go "natural", and they all look really good the way it turned out.  You could let it go, and see if you like it.  If you don't, you can always put some more color on it.  Good luck.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

The Lady Gamecocks won their game against Stanford--and in the second game Mississippi State is ahead of UConn by ? points--about 9 at the half.  I'm hoping MSU will continue to play really well and can pull out the win over Gino's team!

As soon as the game is over, I'm off to bed.  Bonney and I are going out to lunch in Tiger Town.  I forget which restaurant she wants to visit.  I think it might be Logan's Roadhouse.

Sleep well, Buddies.
Sue

HOORAY FOR THE SEC!!!  Go Lady Gamecocks!  And kudos to Mississippi State!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SCFSue

WOO HOO, LADY (and gentlemen) GAMECOCKS!  I'm also very happy for Mississippi State, but of course I'll continue to cheer for my Gamecocks.  This is the best finish for Carolina teams since I was in College in the 50's!  This year the SEC is the best!  (at least I think so--and so glad UConn didn't win for the umpteenth time).

I slept fairly late this morning, but have a load of wash in the dryer, walked around the 3 (but short) block stretch, have showered and dressed to go out for lunch.  I have to have bridge at my house on Thursday, so will have to get my calling done this weekend.  It's not my turn, but I agreed to swap with Dorothy who was going to their Florida condo through next week.

I just had a call from Bill who is in a conference in Chicago with several of his students who are presenting papers.  Probably about Green Roof practices--he's one of the experts in the U.S. with that type of agriculture (pardon a bit of bragging, please!).

Bonney is picking me up to go to lunch in about an hour.  We have coupons for Logan's Roadhouse.  I know we'll both order one of their baked sweet potatoes, but I haven't been there in so long, I don't remember what their entrees are.

It's a beautiful day in my neighborhood (remember Mr. Roger's theme song?) today.  I love days like this, but so many shrubs and trees are blooming that my nose is running big time!

Have a great day, Buddies.
Sue

Marilyn

Good Morning, I have been out for a walk with Freckles so she could get her potty  business taken care of before we go visiting in  just a little bit. We are walking up to the residential facility  near her to meet with the other visiting team. After that place  we are all going to another facility to visit out Hospice patients. The  other team human is hospice coordinator for our group.

jane

Sue...when you click the REPLY button, the formatting options should show.
HURRAH FOR MISS. STATE!!!   Your Assisted Living stay is probably medically deductible.

Darlene...good suggestion from Mary.  I've never colored my hair, but I often had it highlighted...called "frosting" back in the day.  I'm in the same dilemma you are....not sire what to do.

Marilyn....good news on your son.

Sharon...I hope you can get another trial.

I emailed GA, but I've had no reply.  MP indicated she was ok, but taking a break from posting.

Finally....some sunshine here...before more rain tomorrow and Monday!  It may get to 50 today, so I hope we can get a walk in.  Laundry, of course, and I got caught up on family bookkeeping yesterday.

Jane

Sunday Morning Greetings!

Rain to come in today and through tomorrow....farmers and gardeners love it now.  Then we're hoping for some spring...daffodils are poking up as are some tulip leaves, but nothing blooming yet for a few weeks..or a real warm spell.

We watched the Final Four last night.  Two great games.  I thought Oregon might pull off the upset of NC, but they lost by ONE point!  I'm hoping Gonzaga can beat NC Monday night.

Quiet day at home today...knitting and reading, I think, after I see Meet the Press at 1:00.

Hi Gals, I've been to SS & church. I had to teach SS today. It went well. I have a load of towels in the washer.  It's a lovely day here too, sunny and 70's.

Sue, hope you enjoyed your dinner with Bonney. I was sorry USC lost last night, but happy for UNC.  It would have been fun to have an all Carolinas final.  Good for the USC ladies.

Jane, I do hope you hear from GA soon.  It sounds like spring is slowly approaching your area. It is full blown here.  Dogwood are out now too.

Marilyn, hope your visits went well.

Mary, glad the SEC is doing so well for you.

No plans this afternoon except to get my hummingbird feeder filled and put out. Almost time for them.

Have a nice day.  Sharon

JeanneP

finely. It was beautiful here yesterday and not to bad today. Maybe get a walk in. The weather sure makes a difference to my personality. I ran all over town yesterday. Such energy.  Came home and took a nap at 4:30. Big mistake. Awake most the night. Going to not even sit down today.
Some good TV on Public TV tonight.  Covers the whole 3 hours.
JeanneP

maryz

It's another gorgeous day here today, with rain predicted for tomorrow.

Sharon, I put my hummingbird feeder out yesterday and left it out overnight.  It was still hanging there this morning - totally empty.  :D  I cleaned it out, refilled it, and will just bring it in tonight when I bring in the other feeders.  But the critters (whoever they are) don't bother the safflower seed or the mealy worms.  Oh, well....

Nothing else going on around here.

Mary and Sharon..I put my hummingbird feeder out a few days ago and had to take it down...bees was all over it...I really enjoy the hummers..but don't like the bees ...CC

When I got to where my hopsice  lived, I found out she had passed away 2 weeks ago.

It is a beautiful day here but there is a cold wind blowing.  went to  chuch this morning and forgot to take my lyrics with me for my song, so I will sing "It is well with my Soul" next week, I have also picked a song to sing for Easter, called' I know My Redeemer Lives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj-pZQ_XjyU  I must tell you that I love to sing and worship.

maryz

Marilyn - I know your singing will be great - no matter the lyrics!

YEA, LADY GAMECOCKS AND DAWN STALEY!!!

Mary, I sat here for the whole game and all the celebrating afterwards.  I am SO proud of our Lady Gamecocks.  Mississippi State has done very well--I know they are disappointed, but our Ladies have been practicing for this for a long time.  And I'm still glad MSU broke Gino's record!

We had tornado warnings here this morning--lots of rain, too, but it cleared up and the storm went east into Georgia. I don't know how bad the damage was over there.  The 5 o'clock news is on and has shown damage to some places in Alabama.

Marilyn, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your hospice patient.  I'm sure she was comforted by the many visits from you and Freckles.

Darlene, that's too bad about the bees on your humming bird feeder.  I'm allergic to bee stings and stay away from things that attract them.  I keep one of those Epi-pen things in case I am stung, but they have become so expensive now that if I see bees anywhere I go inside and stay away from that location.

Jeanne, I'll have to check my PBS station to see what's going on there this evening.  We've been having so many commercials lately that the programs I like are being cut short.  I'm hoping their fund raising is over for a while.

Sharon, we enjoyed eating out together.  She had salmon and one of those HUGE sweet potatoes and I don't remember what else.  I had glazed chicken fingers and a fresh raw veggie plate.  It was all good and I was stuffed.

Jane, although I was upset that Carolina lost to Gonzage, I do hope the Zags beat UNC.  I'm still a Duke fan (and one of my young friends just got a full ride to Duke on a football scholarship.  He wants to be a doctor) and I didn't want UNC to win.

Not much else to say this evening.  Tim came by this afternoon in the rain.  He's going to take me to the bank on Friday a.m. and then to Kroger to shop, so I'll have to have my shopping list ready early, plus call the Village Friends secretary to tell her I don't need a volunteer to take me to the store on Friday.

I hope we hear from GinnyAnn soon.  You, too, MaryPage!

Have a nice evening, Buddies.
Sue

maryz

Yes, Sue, the women's games were sweet - with South Carolina winning and Mississippi State beating UConn in the semis.

I got up to go to the Y this morning, and just got away less than a block away when I saw it lightning - so there would be no swimming.  I just turned around and came back home.  The lightning finally stopped, but the rain continued.  We had 1.5" of rain by the time it quit shortly after noon.  And the day finished off with lovely sunshine and temps in the 60s.  We did some good and some bad at duplicate tonight, and came in just below middle.

The blue birds have been working on the mealy worms I put out - and nobody else seems to like them.  This is good. With the other stuff, there is a squirrel who has decided to challenge me.  He gets up on the railing and seems to just sit there until I notice him, then starts reaching for the feeder.  I run him off, and he sits at the base of the stairs and just watches me, until I come out on the deck and stomp my foot at him.  He's really enjoying it, I think.  After the third time this afternoon, I brought the feeders in.  And then I went on Amazon and ordered a super-soaker water gun.  I'm going to put pepper water in it and see if I can get him a couple of good licks.  That might slow him down a little bit. Oh, well, it does keep me occupied.   ;D

Another wet and gloomy day here.  I hope we get some warm temps and sunshine soon.

Need to do some cleaning out of drawers and such maybe today.

I watched most of Zags and UNC but thought it disjointed and boring, so went to bed early.

Jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, back from my annual exam.  Cholesterol is way too high but can't be helped. My Vit D was a little high, so he's cutting me back from 5,000/day to 2,000. Also got a pneumonia booster. No other results.

We went to the funeral of our SS member yesterday. It was very nice. The daughter had a pre-recorded message that was played as part of the service. A nice reception afterwards provided by one of the circles.

A computer guy is coming over this afternoon to look at John's computer. The CD drive won't work.

I'm glad everyone was relatively happy with the NCAA results.  At this pt, I'm just glad they are over.

We had severe storm warnings yesterday afternoon and did get some rain and thunder, but fortunately nothing severe.  My rain guage cracked and so I have no idea how much we got.

Mary, you can buy a baffle to put on your pole to keep the squirrel away. Also, adding red pepper to the seed is supposed to deter them and not the birds.  I like your water gun idea too.  Too bad about the swimming but sounds like you had fun at bridge.

Jane, I hope it warms up for you soon too.

Sue, nice that Tim is so helpful.  HOpe you got your house ready for bridge.

We got our taxes back yesterday. We have to pay some, but not much. Glad it is over with.

Have a nice day, everyone.  Sharon

JeanneP

MaryZ.  I am picturing you, standing there with your gun shooting at the squirrel.  Funny.
As I can't have natural flowers in my yard I don't put out bird feeders. Only problems I have start of Spring is the sparrows making nests in my gutters over the porch. They started in 4 place but I put the moth Balls up there and have not had them back. They make such a mess if you don't run them off.
Sharon.  I also don't do a thing about Cholestrol. I know what it is on my yearly full blood panel in September. Last year he said was all O.K  194 and the other numbers where good. Another Dr. wanted me to take pills. Made my bones hurt.
I did just have to get off the BP I was taking that had the Water Pill in it. Got on a low dose another name and it seems to be doing better.  Still at 130/67/89 Good enough for me. That is the only pill I want to take.

Today is lovely here - supposed to be in the upper 70s.  The crepe myrtle trees that were pruned over-winter are just beginning to show new growth.  :)

Sharon, I don't have my feeders on poles.  They hang from crooks that are attached to the railing on my deck.  The squirrel gets on the railing and can easily reach the feeders.  I'm on my second big shaker of cayenne pepper - putting it with the feed and sprinkling it on the railing.  Haven't seen him yet today.

I swear I posted here this morning but it is not here.

My Subaru is leaking water almost as fast as I put it in, So it will be going to the shop very soon. Keith's Camaro is still in  the shop  and he will never ever let me drive the Corvette, well maybe if his life depended on me driving his baby. So I am having to find rides to the Furry Friend activities that I am committed to.  Tomorrow at least  that  rehab facility is just A  few blocks from home and I can walk there. this afternoon is another visit to the school, I have a ride for that one. We only have two classes to teach today. Yesterday we were leaving the school at bus and pick up time, some little bitty chihuahua jumped out of a car and came after Freckles  all teeth showing, snarling and trying to get to Freckles hind legs. Freckles turned around and really gave that dog what for, the owner came running to get her dog and I was on my way across the street with Freckles in to,  good thing she was on  her leash and under my control, I think that little dog  would have gone running quickly. I have heard that dogs of Freckles breed can run 40 mph though Or it could have been for 40 miles.

Good evening, Buddies.  I've been busy with laundry and baking cookies today. I have bridge club here on Thursday and have made a batch of Swedish Oatmeal cookies.  Several of my bridge friends have asked for the recipe in the past, so I'll give it to them Thursday.

I watched 2 football movies this evening--Rudy, about the small boy at Notre Dame who joined the football team, but never got to play until the last game of his Senior year when the other Seniors begged the coach to put him in.  His parents came to the game and he was put in for the last play.  Perhaps you've seen this film.  He took the ball over the end zone line and was the hero.  I think this was a true story--very heartwarming.

The second was a team in which the regular players went on strike and wash outs from other teams were hired and won the season.  Also a heartwarming movie.

I'm tired from my cooky baking and other chores and am going to bed as soon as I check my e-mail.  I hope all are well and have had a nice day.

Sue
