Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

How awful, GloriaDe... so sorry to read your bad news.  Hope he is a fighter & can recover fast, sounds like a lot of injuries.  I can understand about not liking the phone, you have had more than your share of bad news on the phone. Will say extra prayers for his complete recovery.  YOU stay calm & keep us posted, okay?

Sandy, I came in to see if you'd had a chance to explain how you broke your arm.  Such an inconvenience & bet you find more things every hour that all of a sudden, are a problem.

I called DorisA while ago to see if she was floating, as bad as the flooding is in MO.  She has a creek on one side of her house but said it had not even risen out of it's banks.  Their rain has been slow enough to allow run off & soak in.

Jane, I sure hope your vet can explain the emergency to get that scan without any more delay & hopefully your vet will have more clout to get you in & out at a reasonable time.

Happy May Day to you, Callie.... the wind is terrible today, not sure what direction it comes from, trees are bending every direction.

Larry, I suppose you & Hal are in line for our bad weather.... look out!  Around here you could see wind & rain just dumping and few blocks away, just a sprinkle.  Had schools & roads closed west of us because of blowing snow.  My furnace is running & just had the AC on a couple days ago.  Our trees are fully leafed out, at least most of them.  I brought some of the blooming iris in because the wind was beating those pretty petals off.  I also have columbine blooming everywhere.  It spreads it's seed & I let it grow.  When I plant flowers they don't show up.  I also have blue cornflowers that grow everywhere & I even put little flags in the yard so the mowers don't run over them.  Some have big buds & should open soon.  Spring has sprung in Kansas!

Mary Ann, how old was your mother when she was killed?  My best friend's mother hit a concrete bridge at 80 & was killed instantly.  The mail man in his truck was right behind her & said she must have had a heart attack (no autopsy).  My friend took it well, said "we should all be so lucky, she had not been sick or suffered even a little"....  but 80 is too young.  I think I recall you or Norm saying your mother was young when she died.

Still have not found the Glenn Miller CD & looked everywhere 10 times... even freezer & frig, every drawer & under... think I will time out and talk to Saint Anthony to see if he can pull strings & put my mind to rest.  Oh, reminds me of a link I got from my sister-in-law, she has giggled at my "misplacing" things the last couple weeks.  Have a look~  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcgRUfuFgao

Amy, I feel so guilty every time I read how much you get done every day..... do you ever watch TV or stay on the computer long?  I do not use my time well & my house is yelling at me.

CallieOK

Gloria de,  I, too, am so very sorry to read the news about your nephew and pray comfort and strength for each of you.
Where was he on his trip when the accident happened?

Mary Ann

Shirley, thanks for asking about my mother.  She was part of a group from church headed to Omaha for a national conference.  The car went off the road down a culvert and landed upside down.  This was before seat belts and Mother was sitting in the middle of the back seat.  You can imagine she and the others were thrown around.  The accident was on US6 between Dexter and Stuart Iowa and Mother died five days after the accident.  She was a month short of her 48th birthday.  I was 17 and Norm was almost 12.  It was 1941, 75+ years ago.

More than you wanted to know.

Mary Ann

JaneS

Annie and I have an APPOINTMENT at 3:30 on Friday for her ultra sound.  We have to travel to State College for it but it will be done within a reasonable time or our appointment.  My daughter is taking off work early to go with me so I won't have to make the trip alone.  it's about 45 to 50 minutes to this one.  I'm very relieved.  With the meds she's taking and the tiime involved and the scan, maybe they'll be able to do the surgery sometime next week.  Thank you God and Dr. Lindsey.

Time to feed the troops!  Me too!  Enjoy your evening!

Good evening, I think I have calm down a little, and had time to regroup. My DIL and grandchildren, are on vacation in Calif.

Thank all my friends in here, for their kind words.
Jane, I am so glad you will not be alone when you take Annie for her scan.

Callie, when I talk to Keith to day, I ask him what town he was in but he did not know. He sounded very groggy, but his brother thought it best he talk to me. I was not told earlier, as they worried about me, and there was nothing I could do.

Hal, what I understand he was hit by a large truck, and he was the only one hurt. Thank God someone pulled him out of the burning car.

MaryAnn, the accident happen about two hours from his brothers house, he was on his way here.  After making a trip up state about the ticket, that the police said he had to come in person. To be told it had already been dismissed. He is still in PA.

June thanks for your thoughts. Keith is the nephew that helped me the most when Cyriel passed away.  He came out from the city every week end for about a month after. I do not know what I would have done without him.

Amy and Shirley, thanks also your kind thoughts. You both seem to get so much accomplished. I know there are a lot of time you need hugs and prays.

Gloria,  I see that your nephew is "still in PA".   I thought he might have been on the road between CA and NY.

JaneS,  so glad Annie has a definite appointment.

Shirley,  it's been a perfect May Day in the OKC area - although a bit chilly.   Glad you haven't been on the road to CO.  You could be stuck in a snowbank!

Just heard the oven say it's ready for me to put dinner in.

Mary Ann

Gloria de, what a shame, to make the long trip only to be told the ticket had been dismissed.  I hope the person who made the demand that Keith appear in person knows what happened.  A wild goose chase.

Mary Ann

JaneS

Gloria, when you find out "where" in PA Keith is, please let me know.  That's where I am.  I wonder how close he is.

We have been having heavy thunderstorms all evening.  We sat it out for a bit and then the doggies and I ran out so they could wee wee between storms.  Now we're on the way to bed.  It's been a long day!

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

I am in to say Goodnight with prayers for all who need to feel God's healing in their lives, and in the lives of their loved ones. I wish you Peace and Love.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann, sad about your mother dying so young.  I do think the crisis in our lives make some stronger & others fall apart, no question you had to grow up fast with a young brother to help look after.  Lucky you had such a good father, must have been really tough on him with those war years, rationing and kids to feed & clothe.

Jane, happy you have things scheduled & someone to go with you.  Is Annie a good traveler?

Gloria de, is your nephew still in ICU or do you know?  How long do they think he will stay where he is?  Thank goodness someone was brave enough to drag him out of a burning car fast enough.  How thoughtful of him to come visit you on week ends after Cyriel died.  We never forget those kind deeds when we needed it most, do we?  Stay calm, we will all help you pray for him and you do know we are quite a force when working together!  Hugs to you.

Good night to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Lloyd Hammond

Shirley you are up earlie also a sleepless night also. have a great day.

good Morning everyone. I just checked the local weather and it says it is supposed to be sunny today sure hope so we can sure take a break in the rain. have a great day everyone.

Lloyd

wow everyone must be sleepy heads today.I am going to go take my med's and have a cup of sacrifice tea and go to the couch and take a nap you all have a great day see u later.

Lloyd

JaneS

Good morning Everyfriend!  The storms were pretty bad most of the night.  I had a couple of scared doggies sticking to me like they were made of glue.

Lloyd, I'm not afraid of the dark.  I have glaucoma and it turns lights in the dark into large starbursts.  When two of thos starbursts come toward me, I can't see much of anything else and I'd feel terrible if I had an accident and hurt or killed someone else so I don't drive at night.

It's amazing how just knowing that Annie's test will be done at a certain time relieves the situation.  We need this kind of facility closer to home.

I'll be off to Wally World this morning.  Wish me smiles!

Good morning everyone..

Good news is we don't have to start building an Ark, the rain has finally stopped and the sun is smiling brightly!!! Going to be a great day.

I bought new curtains and that may be a job to do today plus the wrap.curtains on the gazebo need to be put on..

I managed to get all the blocks sewn for another quilt yesterday  now to sew them altogether.Paid my garage bill and made an appointment to get my brakes done. That bill will be tad larger than the one I just paid.  :-[

Jane, I was happy to read of your appointment for Annie . Hope everyone through your check out has nothing but smiles for you today.

Lloyd, good morning..

Shirley, I did have have a goof off day yesterday, thoroughly enjoyed sewing most of the day.

Hope those that are healing, heal fast and with no pain. Can't help but think of your nephew Gloria de and wonder how Sandy is doing

Enjoy your day everyone...

Gloria

Good morning everyone, looks like April showers are with us for May. Rain over night again. From what I just heard on local news along the southern part of the state they had thunder storms.

LARRY  there is no tray or container to empty water from on the portable AC. My son and I both read the book that came with it and no mention of that. He looked it all over and could find nothing to open to empty anything. There is a couple of others here with different portable AC's that have nothing to empty either.

GLORIA de  I am sorry about what happened to your nephew. I know I always worry about my family when they are driving.  I lost one sister when a car ran a redlight years ago and a grandson in a car accident. I wish your nephew a full recovery.

SHIRLEY  thanks for the link, boy that fits a lot of us. I saw on the weather channel about the snow in Kansas and wondered if it was in your area. Lot of bad weather going across our country.

JANE  glad you have an appointment for Annie and your daughter will drive you. I remember the last time I drove at night, nightmare ride even without cars coming toward me  the headlights just weren't enough for me to see right. My DIL had to tell me what to do. I was bringing her home after surgery on a foot.  It was supposed to be done at 10am but was done at 4pm. I was really afraid driving that time.

The Great Physician
(Author Unknown)

Welcome to the Great Physician
Office hours are as you come,
He's a Specialist in all problems
And His day is never done.

He can heal a heart that's broken
He can mend the spirit, too,
No matter what your ailment
He does have the cure for you.

His fee for service never alters
He serves rich and poor as well,
He's our one chance for Salvation,
He alone saves us from Hell.

There's no fee for services rendered
All He asks is that we believe,
That He bled and died to save us
And all His blessings we receive.

Do you have a special problem
That is troubling you this hour?
Then just simply leave it with Him
You can find no greater power.

Don't delay in seeking treatment
Please, my friend, don't hesitate,
For His office is soon closing
And He'll shut and lock the gate.

I wouldn't want you to suffer
While the Doctor's so close by,
Your whole life will be much better
If my Physician you will try.

Gloria, good morning. I too prefer to not drive after dark but some of our early morning trips at 5 am have been just that dark!! The only saving grace is not many vehicles on the road at that hour...but I still end up with my eyes on the hood of the vehicle.

Hi everyone.  After an overcast day with rain in the afternoon today is sunny and clear skies.  We expect to be in the low 80's this afternoon.  My only commitment today is to see my cardiologist late this morning.

My granddaughter called yesterday afternoon to advise us that our son was headed to the hospital in an ambulance.  He had to leave work early the night before due to severe chest pain and was able to control the pain with nitro and sleep that night but yesterday he didn't feel good so got in to see his doctor and the doctor sent him to the ER from his office.  The blood work so far indicates he didn't have a heart attack but they admitted him and will do some testing today.  So we will be anxious to hear today.  My cardiologist is also his cardiologist.  He has had one heart attack and several stents in the past.  If you would say a little prayer for him it would be appreciated by this dad.

deAngel, so sorry to hear of the terrible accident your nephew experienced.  It sounds like he will have a long road to recovery.  It is certainly understandable why you hate to hear your phone ring.  I am glad you shared this burden with us as you know we all care for you and this will only add stress to you at a time you don't need it.

Shirley, we did not get back weather just a couple of short heavy rain showers.  There is no rain in the forecast for the next couple of days.  Glad that spring has sprung in Kansas.

Lloyd, I hope you had a nice nap this morning.

Gloria, they must have made improvements in those portable A/C's since we bought ours many years ago now.  I may be mixing that up with a dehumidifier we had in the basement of a house where there was a big tank that had to be empties.  Fortunately there was a drain in the basement floor which aided in doing that job.  Probably any moisture is expelled through the outside vent and would evaporate quickly.

Amy, I saw the "Great Physician" piece and printed it out to put in my devotional folder and may use it sometime when I bring the devotional thoughts for our Sunday School.

Lloyd Hammond

JaneS I understand , but I had to tease you a little.I am sorry about the problem. I have had that test and that blowing in eyes doesn't help. I have dry eyes goes along with the diabetes. getting old is not what it is cracked up to be. but one tip for driving at night. Is when you are meting another vehicle is look to the right at the solder down close to your vehicle.
you have to get in the habit of doing that and staying at it before the other car gets close and after you meet. but if you can do it just stay with your not driving at night. but if something comes up you have to remember what i told you it helps. lot of our skills do not work well the older we get. as long as we don't stop caring and loving  we will  be alright. Have a great day and i hope everyone in your line have smiles today.

Good Morning Everyone!

Joanie, happy to see you posting.  I hope you get out of the hosp soon, we certainly miss you.

Larry, sorry to hear your son is in the hospital, hopefully he will be out soon and on the road to a full recovery.  I know you and Pat are worried.  Prayers are being said.

Nice day here today, but weather is due a change tonight.  Storms with possible tornadoes, high winds and heavy rains.  I'll take the rain, but guess I will get what the good Lord wants me to have.

Hi to you, Joan!  Know you are ready to fly, you'll be welcomed back with a big party, how about that???

Lloyd, that "up early" was just after midnight and I had not gone to bed yet.  Not been getting enough sleep because my days and nights have turned upside down.  I sleep late some mornings so stay up at night, if I don't get to sleep late I have been trying to take a nap so not sleepy at night.  Not easy when we can "do as we please" and don't "do what we should".   :-[

Amy, good thoughts in "The Great Physician".  I did have a talk with St. Anthony about my lost CD but decided it was not important enough to as him to talk to God about finding it.  I don't want to waste God's time with so many other problems in the world.

Larry, we have more rain tonight & tomorrow.  I need to have a look at the river, expect it should be up by now with all the snow & rain west of us.  Looks like a beautiful week end in MO. It is hard to explain what my classmates are doing, best to say we are having a "Wake" while he is here to enjoy friends coming. His mind is still clear, totally unexpected, but his body is failing fast.  He knows and is so accepting of his fate that I do think all (or most) of us feel almost guilty that we would not be as gracious as he is. So sorry about your son's trip to the ER, will say extra prayers for his complete recovery.

Need to run, hope everyone has a great day.  Shirley

Shirley, did you check all your cd players in the house or in your vehicles. I sometimes leave one where I shouldn't and have been on the same hunt you are now. Hubby says to look for something else and my cd will show up :)

Thank you God.....a message from our beloved Bis/Joan ! And what an encouraging message it is. My Bis, you sound SO determined...and that just makes my heart smile, and giggle, and puff up with Joy. I know how hard you are trying and how determined you are, and I know God loves you and wants to put you back here with us. He isn't through with you yet girl, you are needed here.

Larry,my prayers are going out strongly to you and your wife. May it please God to heal your son's heart, and let it beat strong and happy for years and years to come. You have put your life and the lives of your family in His Hands, I know, and may it please our Father to give you the Joy of healing for the three of you.

Amy, and Tisie and Lloyd, and others, you are so loyal in your postings, and I thank you. We are a family here that can lean on one another, and never feel that we are alone. What a joyful blessing it is. I Love you all.

One broken wrist later:

On the sidewalks here in Portland, they allow restaurants set  up a apace to put out a couple of tables, so people can "dine out" in nice weather.

I was out for a stroll  Sunday afternoon, and I managed to inadvertently plow into the barrier around the tables, and fell
landing on my hand, bending it backwards, dislocating and breaking some of my wrist bones on my right hand/arm.

So I am now in the process off healing and recovery with my right arm splinted....  and you know the rest.    No operations needed,  just a series of painful manipulations..

You all know how that goes.

i was lucky not to damage other parts of my body like hips, shoulders or head.     Just my right hand/arm...

It will take a few days for me to get back to feeling like participating on line.
I really am just fine and a bit humiliated..  (For sure}

Larry and Joan, my thoughts r with you at this time
