Mary Ann, I liked it when they had it so when we clicked on the picture, we could get an enlargement of it.  Wish that was still an option.

Shirley, lovely to see you here this morning.  Hugs m'lady and we all look forward to seeing more of you here.  ;)

Anyone ever hear from Jenny?

Well, I haven't used Notepad  for ages in here.  Not much on long posts so do not post much.

DO WANT TO WISH ALL THE OTHER MOTHERS IN HERE A HAPPY MOTHERS DAY THO.   mY TULIPS THAT SON BOUGHT ME HAVE OPENED AND EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL.

take care all and Hugs all around,
Joan

MaryAnn.  I lost my CAM. on showing the Bird Nest. Can you send me the one you are watching.

Tom took me to brunch for Mother's Day so Aunts get treated too.  We both had sandwiches.

Dot and I did not go to church this morning because Dot still is not driving.  She needs a special lens in her glasses so she doesn't see double; she already is having a special lens for the first eye, but apparently needs one for the second eye too.  She was hoping she would not need glasses, but she will.

Dot's son and DIL are here from Chicago and the whole family will get together at her daughter's for both Mother's Day and Dot's birthday (in June).  They'll be quite busy today what with two youngsters running around.

Good after noon, to all you mothers and aunts. Hope you have a great day. Sunny here, but very windy. better then yesterday, as we had heavy rain and flooding.

Shirlyn, thinking about you and understand, I lost my sons in their 40's to sudden death, within 3 years of each other. You come to accept it, but never recover. I was lucky, I tell everyone I had my husband for 62 years.

My neighbors are now good to me.

Mary Ann

Gloria de, thank you for including me in your greeting.  Almost everything has been directed to moms, grandmoms, great-grandmoms and I was feeling kind of left out - that is, until Tom took me out for brunch.  He is a good nephew.

I just woke up from a nice nap, but I'm not sure I'm really awake yet.  Sometimes I sleep quite hard.

Mary Ann

JeanneP

MaryAnn.  that is not the one I had for a couple years. It was in the US. Upper Midwest someplace. Think the Eagle one. Was really good.
Which one of these in Germany are you watching.? They just hatched did they?
JeanneP

Marilyne

Mary Ann - You've been like a second mother to Tom, and his brothers, and I'm sure they would agree.  I haven't been coming to this discussion for as long as most, so I don't know much about the past, as far as Norm and his first wife are concerned?  Since she is never mentioned, I'm thinking that she has probably passed away?

I'm glad you had a nice brunch today with Tom.  Our son and wife are in Louisiana, attending the LSU graduation of their daughter, (our youngest grandchild), so we won't be seeing them this Mother's Day.  Our older daughter lives about 150 miles away, and will be coming to visit for a few days, starting on Tuesday.  So that leaves our youngest daughter, who will be coming over today.  We'll go out to dinner somewhere here in town.

shirleyn

Thanks MaryAnn, Marilyne, Angel, Joan, and LinDancer for your support and encouragement.  I really appreciate it.

Danny and I went to a movie this afternoon - Going in Style.  It was very entertaining.  Three old guys - Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine & Alan Arkin all doing their old man things.  Then we stopped at Bob Evans for a bite to eat before coming home.  I had received phone calls from my remaining two children, which was also nice.  All in all, a nice Mothers Day.

The Hospitality Club had a fundraising barbeque for Mother's Day. $3.00 dollars a plate of ribs, potato salad, salads, and vegetables along with cakes, pies, donuts, jellos and various ice creams and toppings. For the price, they really loaded your plate and you could sit outside at the picnic tables or inside in the first floor common room. It looked really delicious, but I would have fallen on it like a starving animal so I just sat, visited and drank lots of coffee.

It sounds as if everyone was having or had a good day!

A friend sent me this link to pictures of Lake Erie, taken from Canada.  Lake Erie is the smallest of the five Great Lakes.  It runs from East to West or vice versa where Lakes Michigan and Huron are north/south lakes.  Lake Superior also is an east/west lake, as is Lake Ontario.  These waves are spectacular and typical of any of the lakes during a windstorm.

I'll be back later to reply to any posts but I wanted to post this link before I forgot about it.

Son bought me an eggplant parmisan dinner from a local Italian Rest.  It was sooo very good and I have been craving the eggplant parmesan.  I have not done much cooking since my eyes have deterioated so.

Mary Ann

Joan, I think I posted that I had an eye infection starting a week ago Saturday.  I am taking an antibiotic and I feel the infection is clearing up.  It hasn't bothered my vision, but it sure did cause heck with itching and watering.  I hope the antibiotic will keep the infection from going to my other eye.  I have another week to go with the antibiotic.  Right now everything feels normal.

Mary Ann

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, and AUNTS out there!

And to all those who are still missing their mothers (like me!) after all these years.

May Ann, sorry to heat of your eye infection

MaryAnn, you are linking to something in your yahoo email. I can tell because if I click on your link, it sends me to my yahoo email. You could send it to me if you wish, at my Gmail addy and I could post it here for you.

Mary Ann

Patricia, I should have checked it before I posted the link.  It went to my Yahoo e-mail.  I forwarded the e-mail to you in hopes  you can fix it.

Hi everyone.  We have another beautiful morning and headed up to 90 this afternoon.  I didn't make it back in to post yesterday afternoon but read all the postings up to mid-afternoon and decided I couldn't add much to the conversation that hadn't already been commented on so I took a day off from posting other than the brief morning message.

I did go to Sunday School and Church but spent the rest of the day resting.  We had some ham and a couple of vegetable items in the refrigerator so didn't buy our Sunday dinner to bring home as I usually do.  I enjoyed listening to most of Don's Classical Music program and then watched the remained of the Player's Championship golf match.  A young 21 year old Korean fellow won.  What a difficult course as there was water everywhere including one small green that is basically surrounded by water.  It was amazing to watch these pros hit the water.  They were also fighting the wind, which made the course even more difficult.

I have done a few household chores, including fixing Pat's breakfast, and now am exhausted.  So I think I will pass up my Monday noon meeting and just rest the remainder of the day.  Pat is meeting a lady at the church and will go with her to the Spring luncheon for the Circle she belongs to.  This is the final meeting until September.  I am not going to attend the Men's meeting and dinner tonight.

When we ate at the Chop House Restaurant on Saturday we were treated rudely by the hostess and they couldn't find the reservations I had made.  Yesterday my Granddaughter emailed the manager of the restaurant to let him know of our experience.  He called her and said she wasn't the only one to complain about the problem on Saturday.  He said this was not acceptable and is sending her a certificate for a complimentary meal for the four of us. This has turned a negative into a positive and certainly wasn't expected but will be appreciated as this is a pretty expensive place to eat.

Mary Ann, obviously Tom loves you as a second mother.  Since we had gone out on Saturday afternoon we didn't do anything special for Mothers Day.  Scott did give his Mother a very lovely greeting card that opened up as if it were a flower garden.

Marilyne, it is always a big occasion when a child or grandchild graduates from college.  You will just have a little delay until your older daughter is there with you for a few days.  Nice your younger daughter treated you to a Mother's Day dinner.

ShirleyN, glad you were able to enjoy the movie, Bob Evans food and speaking with your two children and have a nice Mother's Day.

Patricia, that is quite a feast and the price was certainly good.  You certainly have more resistance than I do in not partaking of the food.

Joan, I don't think I have ever eaten eggplant Parmesan.  Glad you were able to enjoy one of your favorite meals.

Sandy

good morning everyone, from the rainy but warmer , rocky coast of maine....   it is easier for me to type [one handed], if i don't capitalize ...
so forgive the hen scratching....

i am ok and slowly recouping.   trying to be careful not to fall again ...  i want to remain whole for as long as possible.

mary ann, take care of yourself and get that eye infection cleared up soon.

best wishes to everyone!
sandy

Mary Ann

Sandy, thank you and I think my eye is coming along as well as can be expected, maybe better.  It does not itch or hurt and I have another week for the antibiotic, which I feel is doing its job.  I am sure it is difficult for you to type left-handed.  When I broke my wrist several years ago by falling down the escalator in the Chicago airport, I was smart enough to break my left wrist.  I did not wear a sling but mesh around the wrist when wet, it hardened.  Mine was a fracture, not a complete break, so I could use my left hand for typing, but didn't use it for anything else.

Larry, I hate to hear that you get so tired that you can't do anything the rest of the day.  I'm glad you recognize that you should stop and rest.  I know you've had this condition long enough to know the rules.

I got a kick out of that 17th hole at Sawgrass.  I think more golfers put their balls into the water on Saturday than they did on Sunday, but I also think it was windier on Saturday.  I gathered from the interview following the end of the game that the South Korean young man understands more English than he can speak it.  He answered the questions from the interviewer but answered them in Korean and said "Thank You" at the end.  Not so much with this Tour, but I notice a lot of Korean golfers competing.  There are even more Korean women competing, but I don't watch the women as often as I do the men.  That was a nice gesture from the Chop House manager.

It's about 60 degrees here now and radar shows a nice day ahead for us.

Jeanne, I am not sure which birds you meant, since the storks weren't "it".  The above link is to the eagles at Decorah IA and it looks like there are four young eaglets on the nest.

I used to watch the falcons in Indps but the male was killed a couple of years and the female didn't have any eggs last year.  I don't know if she will hook up with a male this year or not.  I haven't been to the site in ages because I have been getting the front page of the Indy Star and they want me to subscribe and I'm not going to do that.

Mary Ann

Mary Ann

Sandy, you probably aren't into jigsaw puzzles, especially now, but the AllStar puzzle today was of the Portland Head Light, a place I loved when we visited there.  I immediately thought of you!

Good morning from an extremely foggy Interior! Our first fog of the season. You only see white out there and it is very humid as if we were in the eye of a blizzard. Farrah has had her morning treats, wash and nap so now she is laying on the carpet watching my every move in case I want to play a few games.

This is when I feel guilty MaryAnn as I'm afraid, without enough incentive and play, she will lose her athleticism and become a couch potato. Lately, she has not been doing those four and five-foot leaps in play. Only the morning one to leap up and across the kitchen bar to watch me make coffee and freshen her water. She doesn't get into where I make or serve food as I use the Island for an office rather than a table.

She really needs a younger housemate or an equally playful feline buddy but unfortunately, neither is possible.

I looked at your absolutely amazing emailed photos and the fact that he was for all extents and purposes, shoulder deep in violent waters with an unsteady bottom, brings his photos to another level besides the huge and unsteady waves. The unfortunate part is that the article is copyright and anyone will need to sign into Instagram to see it.

Or I could forward my copy or you could to anyone who expresses an interest. It is that amazing! I could resize and compress his photos and copy his words for reposting in photos, but even with quotes and an Instagram link, that would be quite an undertaking and I would be uncomfortable with its legalities. I could post the Instagram link, but again you would need the app and be a member, to sign in to see it. So forwarding would be the best answer, sorry.

Would anyone like such a forward? The email is legal.

Larry, it helps that after sixteen months of dieting, I am only three pounds from my first goal. I have lost sixty-one pounds and that barbecue smell was certainly effective, but I held on thinking of just three more pounds or a huge setback, which would be more satisfying? The scent, smoke and people's enjoyment was very hard to see and smell, but I also rarely socialize and needed that more.

My second and final goal is only thirty-seven pounds so possibly I would be finished by next spring. I am a slow starter, but once begun, I am unshakable if it is something I really want. It took me almost a year to stop smoking eighteen years ago, but once decided, I never smoked another cigarette or had any of the side effects expected. It is if I need to study something, first, decide if I really want it and then it becomes easy for me, even if time-consuming. I did the same when I returned to college in my forties.

Sandy, it is so nice to see you posting here! I do enjoy your views and posts, as does everyone, so we will take you anyhow or way you give us. I rarely do Facebook anymore. I know so many old Seniornetters or S&F members are there including many of this forums erstwhile leaders, but with this site, email and my classes I am stretched too thin as it is. I will need eventually to do more cutting back as I'm falling further behind.

JeanneP. I am leaving a link to the O'Neil River's Brook Falls' grizzlies, as you,(& others); may enjoy that cam and to watch the bears interact with people and mothers teaching their cubs to salmon fish, but my main purpose is that the link includes a wide variety of animal cams, including many bird cams. Scroll down below the cam for the links.

angelface555

MaryAnn, I forwarded the email to my younger sister and she said, "Holy S--t! WOW!"
So now it is getting forwarded further and out to Tuscany.

Marilyne

Patricia - I'm fascinated, and can't stop watching the Grizzlies!  Isn't it great that we live in these times, and can access web cams like this - nature in the wild!

angelface555

#5065
Thanks, Marilyne, it is especially nice to have this cam as you have to sign up,
sometimes years in advance to be able to watch the bears close by from the viewing platform. The park isn't open and you have to sign up to be on a very small yearly list to view the bears. So the cam or cams as there is more than one, see below, are wonderful for those unable to go in person. Right now there is a mother grizzly with three cubs on view.

June Drabek

W.Joan, Jenny posts in the Soda Shoppe. Not every day, but she keeps us informed. All is well last I heard from her.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

angelface555

I know I'm probably overdoing the posting limits but this is for all the dog and animal lovers out there. The link I posted below is about a woman who is fostering a pit bull who had been abused. One day, after having eleven puppies, the mommy pit bull picked them all up and one by one, placed them in her foster mother's lap.
