Patricia - I didn't realize that there were different species of buffalo, and also didn't know that there were any in Alaska.  I just assumed that what few were left, were in the plains states only.  The one that impressed me was right beside the road, so we stopped to take a picture,  (From inside the RV), and he walked right up to us and pressed his face against the window.  I was stunned by the size of his head!  I think he might have been expecting to be fed, which of course is against the Park rules.  I would never feed a wild animal, but I know that lots of people do!

Mary Ann - I hope you finally found the golf tournament that was taking place in Grand Rapids?  I can certainly see why that one would be of special interest to you.

It's now time to visit Winnie, in his basement retreat, and make sure he is settled okay for the night.  My knees are going to take a beating the next couple of days - going back and forth to the basement.  The stairs are steep, and really wear me out, whether I'm going up or down. (up is worse!)

Mary Ann

Marilyne, it was the men's PGA tournament I wanted to watch, not the LPGA women's tour.  I did find the PGA in late afternoon on ESPN and I remember the channel but not the HD channel.  I know how to get there, so all I have to do is - do it!

I am sure Winnie will be glad to see you.  Kendrick's "mother" came to visit yesterday and helped me change my bed.  I do not go down to the lower level unless I have to so if Kendrick wants to see me, he has to come upstairs - company (people or dogs) or not.

We're going to have another warm one today and I'll dress appropriately!

Hi everyone. The day has started overcast and we have a good opportunity for more rain this afternoon.  Late yesterday afternoon and then again last night we had we had over an inch of rain.  The housekeeper will be here this morning.  I have nothing special on my agenda for today.  Pat is getting a haircut this morning.

Mary Ann, as Sue indicated I agree Phil Mickelson is to be commended.  There are many golf tournaments for him to play in and his daughter will graduate from high school only once.  Pro athlete have to be away from their families so much that I know it must be hard on families.  Of course Mickelson has his own plane which has to make traveling much easier.  I didn't realize that Fox was carrying the PGA match so watched the LPGA play on the Golf Channel.  Those ladies play very good golf just as the men do.  I doubt that the Fox broadcast will be until Saturday and Sunday afternoons but haven't checked that out. I forgot to check ESPN and I bet that is where it will be broadcast today.

Marilyne, I have been to Mount Rushmore and the Badlands a couple of times and it is very impressive.  When I lived in Alaska I had a little Simca (French made car) and was driving outside Anchorage one day and had to stop as a big moose was in the road ahead of me and it was bigger than my car.  Sort of a scary sight.  Buffalo are also a sight, especially in a big herd running.  Your grandson is to be commended on his graduation from Oregon State University.  Is your cat named after Winston Churchill?

Patricia, sorry your family has suffered the loss of the triplet and the loss of a good friend's pet.  Farrah has established that you can be trusted.

Mary Ann

Larry, the LPGA is being played in Grand Rapids at a course about 2 miles north of where I live.  At one time, I lived a mile north of the golf course.  It is the Blythefield Golf Course and I lived in Blythefield Acres.

I think this is one of the golf tours where ESPN has the entire tour.  One reason they were concerned about Mickelson playing the Open is that he has never won that and he's won the other major tours.  As he gets older, his chances diminish.  A few years ago Matt Kuchar left a tour for the birth of a baby to his family.  Jason Day did the same thing.  There was controversy about Matt's departure.  So some 3olfers do put their families first.  If they are top-notch, they make a lot of money anyway.

Mary Ann

Mary Ann - I've never followed the various golf tournaments on TV, although I'm familiar with most of the top players.  Both AJ and I used to play, in our younger years.  I much preferred just going to the driving range, and hitting a few buckets of balls.  A great way to relieve stress!

I'm looking forward to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, which will start the first week in July.  There is something so formal and "British" about Wimbledon!  I like to see them play on the grass courts, and enjoy all the protocol that must be followed faithfully every year!  It's the last remaining tournament, where the players must wear white clothing.  Also fun to see the Royal family attending many of the matches. This year it looks like the same old players, except for Serena Williams, who is expecting a baby, and will not be playing.

halkel

Larry the Open came on at 10 Thursday and today on FS1 (Fox sports channel) which is 1652 here on uverse.  And then switches over the Fox channel around 4 until 7 PM.
That was something about the blimp crashing.  Thank goodness no one was killed.

Mary Ann

Thanks, Hal, for the golf information.  I got the same info on the ESPN web site but I have no idea where FS1 is on my TV.  The web site said I could watch things LIVE on the computer and what I saw kept cutting in and out so I gave up.  It is just past 4 pm now and I'm watching ESPN and getting ads.  I don't know if I'll be able to see anything today.  I have other things to watch on Fridays so I'll survive.

Recently I asked a great-nephew to send me some pictures via e-mail of his newborn son, which he did do.  One of the pictures showed Terry, Geoff and Isaiah - father, son and grandson.  I realized here was a 3-generation picture and Terry died a few weeks after the picture was taken.  Tom had the picture printed and bought a frame and will give it to Jan, Terry's wife.  It is an "accidental" 3-generation picture, but the only one in existence.  The picture idea was Tom's and he is very thoughtful that way.

MaryAnn, I had a hard time finding the golf, finally I went 1by1 and found it on 69.  I will have to write that down somewhere. that it is FS1 is Sp5 :tickedoff:

Gloria, unfortunately, your 69 is not the same as ours (Food Channel).  I did go up from 2 one by one and around 200 got tired.  Yesterday ESPN was channel 234 and today it is a local channel WXMI and they do not have the golf.  Even during the day the golf channel did not have the LPGA tour, but a while ago, I look and they were carrying it.  Maybe Saturday will be better.

Thanks for the information.

Will wonders never cease - I just tried channel 234 and there is the US Open.  I'll watch it now for a while.

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another hot and humid day with still some chance of more rain this afternoon.  We did have another nice gentle rain for 30 minutes or so yesterday afternoon.  When I came to my office this morning my computer was locked up.  I knew Microsoft was going to install the latest update last night and it apparently has done a number on my computer.  I have turned off the power and back on several times without effect.  So I am using my Chromebook this morning.  I don't have much on the schedule today.  I will attend a Saturday morning meeting in a little while and later this afternoon tune in on the golf match.  Many of the world's best golfers did not make the cut to continue to play this weekend, including the World's number one ranked player.

Late last night I had a text from my good friend saying that his wife Pam's surgery had resulted in a finding that the growth was not cancer as two doctors were 98% sure it was.  Prayer certainly does work as that is wonderful news.

Mary Ann, for the top golfers they will be able to pay their bills whether they miss a tournament or not.  I found the Men's Open on Fox Sports 1 yesterday and watched several hours of it.  There was some great putting.  That 3 generation picture will be much appreciated since it is the only one in existence.

Marilyne, I tried to play golf right after I started working.  I did not enjoy it at all and couldn't afford any lessons.  I eventually gave my clubs away so I would never be tempted to try to play again and have never regretted the decision.  However, I do enjoy watching it on TV.  I do enjoy watching tennis although haven't done so for a few years.  The Williams sisters have really been a force in women's tennis for many years.

Hal, I did a web search to find the golf tournament and so knew where to look yesterday.  I started watching it about 3 pm and up until the national news at 6:30.  I am looking forward to the play today and tomorrow.  However, thanks for the information as probably would have missed it if I hadn't searched.

deAngel, I think I heard that the coverage today and tomorrow will switch to the regular Fox channel.

Mary Ann

It's a bit early for golf (8:45 in Erin Hills) and Fox has Exploration of Outer Space.  I'll listen to some music to see what shows up at 10 am my time.  I found by going to the web site yesterday that the tour was on FS1 and I have no idea where FS1 is.  I have about 1000 channels on my computer.  I can't access all of them, but I can many of them, and there is no way I am going to go one-by-one for 1000 channels!

We have had storms since the early hours and it is quiet now, but radar shows more on the way.  We need the rain so I don't mind and it was nice to lie in bed listening to the rain and hearing the thunder and lightning.

I haven't had breakfast yet but when I finish S&F, I'll get something.  I saw a banana waiting to be eaten.

Dan graduated from college last night.  A friend took pics and a video but she put them in chat on Facebook and they are all too small for me to see..  Anyway if I can get her to put THEM on FB I will share so  those of you who are on my friends list can see them.

PROUD MAMA HERE  LOL

Marilyne

joan - Congratulations to Dan, on his graduation from college!  I understand how proud you are of him!  What school did he attend, and what was his major?

wjoan

Marilyne, tis a local college here in the Tri Cities.  He graduated as a Program Mgr.  The VA put him thru.

Mary Ann

Joan, congratulations to Dan.  Graduation is quite an accomplishment.

wjoan, add my congratulations to your son.  It is a very great accomplishment.

I'm watching the golf tour in Erin Hills WI.  Today is the third day.  There are at least seven players with -8 and many more down to -5.  I don't know when I've ever watched a game with so many tied for first place.  Tomorrow should be very exciting.

Mary Ann

Thanks Hal.  Was not easy for him with PTSD but he did it.

June Drabek

W.Joan, you have every right to be proud of   your Dan. I am too !!! Overcoming PTSD is a major battle in itself, much less getting himself a college education in this day of  competition in all fields. God Bless him !
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Hi everyone. We do have a sunny Sunday morning after another nice rain last evening.  It is only suppose to be in the high 80's today with a continue chance of a little more rain.  I expect it will be a typical Sunday for us as we plan on going to Sunday School and Church and then will get some lunch.  Later this afternoon I will watch the conclusion of the men's golf tournament.

Joan, Dan is to be congratulated for reaching his goal of that degree.  You certainly have reason to be proud of him.

Mary Ann, this should be an interesting day at the golf course with so many player still in contention.  I am looking forward to watching it.

Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers, Grandfathers, Uncles and all those acting as Fathers!

Marilyne

Happy Father's Day to Larry and Hal, and to all other fathers who are looking in today. :)

Our son and dil are in Oregon, for graduation weekend, so they won't be here for any Father's Day festivities. Oldest daughter lives about 150 miles away, so she won't be coming today either.  That leaves Sandy, the youngest, who will come tonight and go out for dinner with us.  She has had a rough week this week, and is not doing too well.  She got laid-off, from her job on Friday, and is very upset.  It was a job that she loved, and the termination came without warning.  I feel so bad for her, as she is all alone, and the job meant a lot to her . . . not only for the pay, but also for the self esteem.

Winnie, is still residing in his temporary quarters in the basement, but tomorrow, he will be back upstairs with us, as Cocoa will be going back home.  Cocoa is a sweet Lab, and a pleasure to take care of, but it's hard on Winnie, to be all alone.  The one good thing, is that it's cool down in the basement, so he is comfortable.  We are in the midst of a heat wave, and the temps will go into the low hundred's today.  When temps go that high, it's impossible to keep our house as cool as we would like, but the basement is always perfect.

Mary Ann

Happy Father's Day to all of the fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers and uncles and I hope you all have a nice day.

Dot and I have been to church, then OTB.  This afternoon, Tom and I are leaving for Holland to celebrate Father's Day with his son, James, and family.  They are the ones with the twin girls.

Mary Ann

Shirleyn, so glad to see you posting

Marilyne, So sorry to read about your daughter losing her job. When our children upset, we are also upset with them and we want tohelp ease their pain.

MaryAnn, enjoy your trip.

I'm back from our Father's Day celebration and we had a good time.  Of course, we saw and held the twin girls who now are beginning to look like little girls instead of babies.  They're 4 1/2 months old.  Johanna weighs 9 pounds and Alicia said that Eleanor was about a pound less and that was the difference when they were born.  Late in the afternoon, Annie joined us so it was a family gathering.  I took a couple of 3-generation pictures - Tom, James and the twins.  Then we took some family pictures.  James grilled hamburgers and some veggies and that was our food.

Saturday there was a package for an Ann Whittaker in my mailbox, sent to my address.  I don't know any Ann Whittaker, nor has there been anyone by that name living in our complex.  I told Tom we'd put it back in the parcel box and I'd give the mail carrier a note the she was unknown here.  Today Annie happened to mention that she had something shipped here.  We asked about Ann Whittaker and found that was a name she used to order something.  I told her it nearly backfired because if she hadn't mentioned it, the package was going back to the vendor.  I don't know her thoughts on using another name, but at least the mystery is solved.

It was so humid today and I can't say I didn't feel good, but the humidity was almost too much for me.  At least while I was inside.  When I got home from church, I turned on the air, even though the inside temperature wasn't high enough.  That did get rid of the humidity.  Being in Holland, the humidity was not so obvious.

We got home in time for me to watch the last of the USGA golf tournament so I could see who won.

Mary Ann sounds like you had a good time to day. Nice that you got to hold the twins, and took some pictures.

I am having trouble posting in soda shop. Reply does not come up. Is anyone else having trouble?

Good morning to all!  The weather in Florida is hot, hot, hot and rainy afternoons.  Which is typical of Florida in the summer.  One just learns to live with it.  You all were talking about tooth problems a while age - I had some extractions, as I hate going to the dentist so I didn't want the crowns, etc.  I do have a partial plate on top & now I only have teeth in the front, so I got fitted for a plate on the bottom.  What an experience I have been having.  It has been several months now & they just can't make them comfy.  They are actually downright sore & causing sores.  So I am out over a thousand & no teeth.  I had to learn to chew with my front teeth.  Sigh!

Mary Ann, so glad you got to see those little girls.  Babies are always so much fun to play with.

Larry, I never did get into golf.  But I am an avid Tampa Bay Rays baseball fan & we watch, and enjoy, those games.  Then in the fall and winter we watch football.

Lindancer, I see I omitted your name in my last post - sorry about that.  I enjoy reading your posts & keeping up with your life.

Marilyne, I guess Winnie is on the loose by now and everything is right in your world.  Sorry to hear about your daughter.  Perhaps there is something better in store for her in the future.

I have nothing much planned for today, other that washing.  Some how or another I have gotten way behind & have about 4 loads to do.  Oh well, if they don't get done today, there is always tomorrow.   :-\  Anyway, I wish you all a great Monday.

shirleyn.
