Hi everyone. We had a glorious day yesterday with the high only getting to 85 degrees and low humidity.  Yesterday afternoon the humidity was on 44%.  It looks like today will also be very nice only getting up to around 90 degrees and so far only 50% humidity.  We have no rain in the forecast.

Only two things on the schedule for today.  The chair lift technician is due around 10 am.  It has been well over a year since he was last here and a couple of small problems have developed that need attention as well as regular maintenance.  Then probably this afternoon I will make a quick trip to Aldi's for a few items.  I had another exhausted day yesterday and went to bed about 8 pm and didn't get up this morning until around 8 am.  I did enjoy Sunday School and Church yesterday.

Regarding collecting things about the only thing we have collected were a few drinking glasses from places we visited or lived and we disposed of those during the last move.  We do have a collection of toothpick holders that my mother had collected that are contained in a beautiful handmade walnut and glass display case on the wall.  Pat has collected some sewing and quilting miniatures that she has in a printer's box that her aunt gave her.  Of course, Pat has a large, large collection of quilting related rulers, articles, books and fabric that seems to keep growing all the time.  Now that she has taken over our sun room with her old Singer Featherweight she now calls it her quilting annex as her studio is upstairs.

Mary Ann, that turned out to be a good final day of golf at the RBC Canadian Championship.  The defending champion was able to defend his championship but it took a playoff hole to do so.  That was a very beautiful course.

Marilyne, it sounds like you are or have been quite a collector.  I used to collect books, nothing of particular value, but just liked having them.  However, got rid of almost all of them as they became burdensome to move and there are so many books I very seldom would reread one.

deAngel, glad to hear you are able to be home and not back in rehab after having another heart attack.  It takes a while to recover, as you well know, so please take it easy for awhile.  It sounds like Taffy knows you need some extra loving care and missed you a lot while you were gone.  Hospitals are sure not places to get much rest with all the beeping machines and the frequent checking of blood pressure, etc.  I have had two cardiologist tells me that I shouldn't have another invasive procedure unless I had a heart attack and it was needed to save my life.  Not long ago my current cardiologist hinted at doing another cath and I told her what I had been told based one the last caths I had had and she backed off.  I was told years ago I wasn't a candidate for my more heart surgery due to the large amount of scar tissue from the two heart surgeries in the past.

Mary Ann, we have a china cabinet that goes with our dining room set and also an antique china cabinet that was a gift to my grandmother when she got married back in the late 1800's.  It is quite unique with a lot of leaded glass including a curved out space in the center.  It is hard to describe but holds wonderful memories for me of my grandmother and my youth.

Patricia, I saw a lot of emails and then occasionally go through and delete a lot of those I have saved as very seldom refer back to them.  It sounds like you have a very nice and well laid out apartment and it must seem even larger with the disposition program you have recently instituted.  I firmly believe we should each keep our homes the way we are most comfortable with them rather than by what someone else thinks they should look like.  We do have a large storage area in our attic that is all floored but probably will never use most of what is there again. I sure can relate to your comment regarding getting tired and weaker all the time. It is what it is and I am just thankful to be alive another day.

JeanneP, nice to read you also had a nice day yesterday. It sounds like you might need a new ignition unit.  I had to have that done on my PT Cruiser a couple of years ago and getting new keys with the chips in them turned out to be a pretty expensive item.  That was done at the same time the transmission cables had to be replaced as it is a manual shift vehicle.  Those new cars or newer used cars look very tempting.

We are still in the 100 degrees here, give or take 2 degrees.  Fall cannot come soon enough.  LOL

Today I get my rugs cleaned.  Cannot open windows due to heat so will just turn up- the air cleaner.

wjoan

Just checked the extended weather.  we will be between 105 and 109 for the rest of the week.  UGH

I'll let you keep that weather, Joan, we are at 87 and I have the air on and I'm very comfortable.  I did forget about the cat being on the deck and he complained loud enough that Tom heard him.  The cat is none the worse for wear.

Keep cool!

Lots of people and boats at Grand Haven so others are keeping cool!

Patricia - I see that it's your birthday today! :)

Wishing you a Happy Birthday! :bestwishes:

wjoan

Mary Ann I will gladly share.  LOL  Hate going out in this on Wed. tho.

Good afternoon, beautiful day again, I set on the porch and read the paper, and watched my wild animals in the yard, the squirrel  was about 2 ft. from me eating out of the bird feed dish, down the steps there was a ground mould eating the bread I through out, and a little further out was a rabbit eating on my flowers. also Blue Jay feeding a young one.

Larry, one of the doctors agreed with me, as he said at MY age it could be dangerous!!? The nurse has been and some of the new med. is making me have low BP. Also she told me to get a pulse oximeter and use it everyday, t0 keep track of my oxygen. the doctor said I should have it, but Medicare said no. While in the hospital the oxygen level went form 75 to a 100 before I was discharged. To day it was 82

Patricia Happy Birthday and many more good years.

Thanks, Marilyne and Gloria for the birthday wishes! I had a nice lunch out with friends and a birthday cake and song so I am replete.

MarsGal

Happy belated Birthday, Patricia.

Hi everyone. It is another beautiful morning here in South Carolina although the humidity is back up today.  Yesterday it was nice all day and the humidity stayed down.

The only thing on my schedule for today is to pay the first of the month bills (which I have already done), make a quick drive to Kroger's to pick up an online grocery order and then this evening Pat and I plan on going out to eat.  There are a couple of other little projects around the house I may tackle later this morning. The last couple of days I have felt better than I did last week for which I am grateful.

Joan, we are getting a break on the temperatures the last two or three days as it is not getting more than about 90 degrees. I feel for you and those hot, hot days the rest of the week.  Do you have rugs throughout your apartment, excluding the kitchen and bath?

Mary Ann, nice that you can keep on eye on the folks on the beach with the cams.  I am sure it brings back great memories when you were one of those persons.

Patricia, I don't think I wished you a Happy Birthday but certainly want to do so.  It sounds like you had a special day with friends, cake and song.

deAngel, I find squirrels are pretty adventuresome but keep a leery eye on what is happening around them.  Every animal has to eat although they may not be the ones you intended to feed.  I have this great app on my smart phone that takes my blood pressure, pulse and oxygen reading.  It is fairly accurate and think it does a super job on oxygen.  Mine usually runs 97 or 98%, which is what it is also in the doctor's offices.  I just used it and see my BP is 100/63 and oxygen 98%.  However, it shows my heart rate is down to 51 whereas the cardiologist told me she would like to see it stay at 65 or above.  It sounds like you do need to keep a close eye on your oxygen level as 75 is pretty low.

wjoan

Larry, just throw rugs in the bath and a small rug in front of the sink in the kitchen.

angelface555

Good morning from the Interior. I just watched an amazing forensic video that traced the legend of Amazon women warriors from Greek tales to Southern Russian burial grounds of warrior women to the Russian border with China where a small nine-year-old, blonde Mongolian horsewoman was a direct DNA descendant of Amazonian warrior women. Thus even with the hyperbole of ancient tales, myths, and legends, proves using modern science that these women existed and their DNA bloodline exists today. Amazing!

Larry, do you have an I-phone or an android smartphone?  If you have an I-phone, what app are you using to check your BP and oxygen?

After reading Mary's msg. above my mind went into overdrive.   This is my imagination going into overdrive"

One of these days we will be able to just plug in somewhere and a robot will tell us exactly what is wrong if anything.  Kind of scary that.

Lindancer

Good afternoon, a little on the warm side to day.  I sat on the porch this morning and had my coffee. I added a chipmunk to my wild life this AM.

Larry, I sent for one of those pulse oximeter, it is suppose to arrive to morrow.  the nurse was suppose also to be back to morrow, but she cannot make it till thursday. I was hoping she would be here to morrow. I am very tired and get a little light headed.  By the way I did use my panic button to call the ambulance last week.  they intern called 3 friend and my DIL in Mass.

My mind is going all the way to givving meds and shots right to where we plug in. Think about it..  oh the imagination is a terrific thing.

angelface555

Joan, they already have robots assisting in heart surgery, not so far fetched!

Mary Ann

Joan, my imagination works overtime at times and I can believe what you imagine will happen some day.  After all, look at the progress (?) we've made in our lifetimes.  I put a (?) because I'm not sure everything is positive progress, but things are a lot different than when I was young.  I look at some things and try to imagine either or both of my parents seeing them.  I think my dad was much more venturesome than my mother, but I'll never know.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

joan - as Patricia said, the robots are already here, with more arriving in the immediate future!  I recently read that there is a huge department at Apple, devoted to nothing but robot technology.  Probably other tech companies as well. :o

Mary Ann - My mother was a "Pollyanna" type personality, who always saw the best possible scenario in any situation, so she would be upbeat and positive about all things dealing with progress.  My dad, was more critical, but he had a wonderful sense of humor, and would always have something funny to say about anything new and interesting that was happening.  He would be getting a lot of laughs out of the robot technology, smart phones, and especially self driving cars!  I can imagine his comments on that one! ;D

Mary Ann

Marilyn, my dad probably would want to see how the self-driving cars go and handle and my mother probably would want to wait!  Mother did not drive.

Mary Ann

wjoan

I imagine if we came back in 80 or 90 years, we would not be able to function.

Hi Shirley, good to see you.  Howz everyone?

Mary Ann

Hi everyone. It is a cool 66 degrees here this morning and it suppose to stay partly or mostly cloudy all day getting into the high 80's.  I woke up about 2:15 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep.  After an hour or so I got up and finished a jigsaw puzzles on the computer and read my email.  I then laid down again but still couldn't go to sleep so turned on the audiobook I am listening to.  I don't expect to go any where today so I will probably rest some later this morning and this afternoon.  Scott and Jennifer will be out this evening for dinner.  Pat put together a chicken casseroles last evening that is awaiting in the refrigerator and that will be our dinner tonight along with a lettuce salad that I will make later this afternoon.

I had an interesting experience yesterday at Kroger's, where I went to pick up Pat's online grocery order.  When the young man brought out the cart with our groceries I saw the receipt and it was for over $250.  I knew our groceries should have been in the $30 range.  There was a car next to me also getting her order, which was a large one and that was the ticket for her order.  However, they had put the three cartons of cola that Pat had ordered on her ticket.  So they had to adjust her ticket and mine.  In addition, Pat had ordered a box of Velveeta Cheese that wasn't in the box of groceries so the young man went in to retrieve it.  When he came out with it he said there would be no charge for the colas or the Velveeta Cheese as they had made the mistakes on the bills.  The bottom line is that they didn't charge me for around $19 worth of product.  I thanked him very much.  I have to wonder if he just didn't know how to redo the receipt although he told the other clerk loading the other car what he was doing and that seemed to be OK.  I was also told not to look a "gift horse" in the mouth.  Unfortunately we won't be shopping online at Kroger anymore because after three free orders all future orders are $4.99 per order regardless of amount.  Walmart, which is located across the street, has no order charge for purchases over $30, which seems to be no problem for us.

Joan, we have the small throw rugs in our bath but Pat doesn't want any rug in the kitchen as afraid she would trip on it as doesn't pick up her feet very well.  We do have one at our front door.
I expect you are right about how our medical conditions will be diagnosed in the future.  They are now using video conferencing between doctors in far off areas and robotic surgery and Patricia mentioned.

Patricia, interesting what is being done with DNA as well as other types of scientific testing such as carbon dating.

MaryTX, I have an iPhone 6S.  I have had a couple of android smartphones in the past and will likely sometime in the future as the iPhone's are so expensive.    The app I use is called ICare Blood Pressure Monitor.  I just use the free version as it does what I want it to do.  Your question reminded me to use the monitor this morning and have better readings today.

deAngel, chipmunks are fun to watch as long as they don't tear up your yard.  Glad you are getting the pulse oximeter.  I recently did an overnight test using one that I wore on my finger all night long and it recorded onto a device.  The lung doctor was concerned that my oxygen levels were perhaps going down at night while using the CPAP machine.  I never heard anything from the test so guess it was OK.

Mary Ann, the rapid technology changes over our lifetime have certainly been interesting to watch unfold.  Who would have thought that we will soon have electric self-driving cars and drones everywhere.

Marilyne, it seems like robots are on their way into many phases of our lives and it has happened so quickly. I guess I am like your mother is seeing the glass half full and not half empty.

ShirleyN, your comment about the Shadow brings back another childhood memory of those old radio shows where you could use your imagination as you listened.

wjoan

Mornin all.  Am off to get my hair cut this morning.  Supposed to be 107 today.  UGH.  Fall cannot come fast enough for me.  Hugs all around,

shirleyn

Hi guys & gals.  Mary Ann, things are good now.  As you know, we went to Buffalo a little while ago.   Well, I had a little accident while there - up wandering around the first night (leg cramps) & didn't see a step down & down I went.  No broken bones, but shook up my back.  Been suffering a great deal, but yesterday and today it seems to be better.  Doc says probably just bruised inside a bit.

deAngel, glad you have recovered and are home.  Wishing nothing but the best for you.

And 'Hi' to the rest of the gang in here.

shirleyn.

Marilyne

shirleyn - Sorry to hear about your fall and painful back injury.  I hope you had a good time in Buffalo, in spite of your accident?  Come back again soon, and join in the conversation. :)

wjoan - Your predicted temperature today is going to be much higher than ours.  We're only expecting a high of 101 degrees. Cool by comparison! ::) LOL

Mary Ann

Shirleyn, I'm glad you had no broken bones.  Maybe you should carry a small flashlight!

Tom, Dot and I are going to Jan's for lunch today - our former weekly luncheon which will probably change to monthly.  Most of our luncheons are at Jan's because of her parents who should not be left alone.  When she works, Jan has one of her nephews stay with them.

It's a beautiful day here, we will not get as hot as Joan in Washington State, for which I'm grateful.  The sky is bright blue with big white fleecy clouds.

Mary Ann
