MARIJUANA and MARRIAGE
In Washington State On a single day, Washington State recently passed two laws.
They are:
1. Legalized gay marriage, and
2. Legalized marijuana.
Legalizing gay marriage and marijuana on the same day now makes perfect Biblical sense.

Leviticus 20:13 says:
"If a man lies with another man they should be stoned.”
Apparently we just hadn't interpreted it correctly before!

This is an oldie, but a goodie.......enjoy!

On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts. "One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me," said one boy. Several dropped and rolled down toward the fence.

Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, "One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me ...."

He just knew what it was. He jumped back on his bike and rode off. Just around the bend he met an old man with a cane, hobbling along.

"Come here quick," said the boy, "you won't believe what I heard! Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls!"

The man said, "Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to walk." When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled slowly to the cemetery.

Standing by the fence they heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me."

The old man whispered, "Boy, you've been tellin' me the truth. Let's see if we can see the Lord...?" Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see anything. The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the Lord.

At last they heard, "One for you, one for me. That's all. Now let's go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done...."

They say the old man had the lead for a good half-mile before the kid on the bike passed him.

I'm in to say Goodnight and God Bless you all. I spent a quiet day at home, so have no real news. All is well in my corner of the world and I pray it is the same for all of you. See you tomorrow.June

I made a trip to the dumpster and then stopped at my son's house to make a date with TLH before school starts.  Monday, we're going to llunch at McD. and then shopping for after school snacks.

On the way home, my favorite farmer had his "corn" sign out so I stopped and shucked 20 ears and came home and cleaned them and cut the corn off the ears for the freezer.  I had two ears for supper....UM, UM Goooood! and tomorrow I'll bag the rest and freeze it for later.

And now....Good Night Everyfriend!  I wish you a peaceful sleep and a good tomorrow and may God bless us, every one.

P.S. I left the table lamp on for anyone who stops by later!

JANE, I am not familiar with Avalanche Ranch, but I know the little town of Redstone very well.  I looked at the web page and it looks like a nice facility.  I am happy they were able to be in the mountains as it is so beautiful.  Happy to read that you were able to get some yummy corn.  Glad you enjoyed it.

No SHIRLEY yet!  Where are you girl?  I do hope all is well with you.

I think I will go ahead and turn off the lights.

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday was a long tiring day but productive We met our new Dr. and he is a nice young man.Poor lad ,I don't think he knows what to do with me , told him he would only see me when I really needed him. He asked about flu shots, pneumonia shot and I said no thank you. I did let him in on the fact that I was a tad stubborn too.

Today we are back to the city for hubby's CT scan..please say a wee prayer that they find NO cancer.

Neighbour is looking after the girls for us and then we reciprocate on Mon for them.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!

Amy, prayers winging their way to heaven for hubby.  Hope you get a good report.  You sound like me with the shots.  My Dr. says, "I have to ask but I think I already know the answer."  I always say, "Of course you do already know."  I always wonder what she calls me to the rest of the office staff.

I'm thinking maybe chicken corn soup for supper.  I have cooked chicken, lots of broth and some good noodles in the cupboard.  That's another PA Dutch delicacy.  Of course, thre are some southerners who think they invented it but we, in PA, know the real truth.

Now I better get my OTHER things checked out so I'm ready when the beeper goes off to feed the doggies.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Good Morning Everyone!

Amy prayers for your husband.  Stressful time.
I don't know why you folks are so afraid of the flu shot or the pneumonia shot.  Both can save you lots of grief.

I have to go to eye doctor this morning.  I want to talk to her about cataract surgery on my eye.  She said last time that it would improve my vision considerably and here lately mine hasn't been that great.

We are off to Del Rio, on the Rio Grande, later on today.  Our Grandson from Abilene is going down to see his Mom and Dad along with his family adn they are going to have their new girl, 9th or 10th great granddaughter, which we haven't seen.  And of course the rest of the kids.

Lloyd hope you are feeling better and you have been able to stop that med that makes you so sleepy.

Everyone have a great day.

JaneS

HAL,  I'm not "afraid" of any kind of shot but when they began giving flu shots, my company gave them to us free of charge so I got one.  And I got a really bad case of the flu.  The next year when they gave them, I got one again.  Again,  bad case of the flu.  I think it just makes sense to avoid something that makes me ill for two weeks out of the year.  I did get the pneumonia shot until the dr. discovered that I'd had pneumonia as a child and probably didn't need the shot.

One immediately thinks that anyone who doesn't get an immunization isn't using good sense.  In my case, I think I'm avoiding a bad situation that, at my age, might be the cause of my death.  I think that's pretty smart.

I'm off to Wally World.  Wish me smiles!

Good morning everyone, misty this morning and much warmer than yesterday at this time. Hope I get this done this morning. Yesterday with interuptions it took most of the day to get through the posts. Today I have a PT coming. My NP said she would see about getting one here, she sure does more than doctors do.

AMY  from your lips to God's ears and like you prayers that no cancer has targeted your hubby.

JANE  can you still get the wide flat noodles there? Can no longer find them here. What they call wide are about half the width I loved and they are curled, not flat. About the only brand is Pennsylvania Dutch.

HAL  save trip to Del Rio. Enjoy all the youngsters and adults.

JANE  good registers today and lots of friendly smiles.

Hi everyone. It is a bright and sunny morning and headed into the mid to high 90's this afternoon with only a very low chance of rain.  Yesterday turned out to be very busy and accomplished what I had planned to do plus fixing both breakfast for Pat and dinner for us.  I am hoping for a quiet and easier day today.

I slept for eleven hours last night but still not feeling very peppy this morning.  If I get motivated later this morning I will go and get a haircut and perhaps watch golf later this afternoon.

Hal, I bet you are happy to not have to make those PT appointments anymore but hope you will keep up your exercises at home if they are helping you.  I have used the self checkout numerous times and occasionally run into a problem when assistance is required. I am also having a cataract problem and probably should go ahead and have them removed but probably will wait awhile longer.  Sure a special time to get to see a new great grandchild.  Hope you have a nice trip to Del Rio.

Carol, with all that planned visiting you may have to take a day off once in a while to rest your jaws from all that talking.  Seriously that should be a very enjoyable vacation and hope you have beautiful weather.  Interesting about your new mini bus without a driver.  Does it carry at least an attendant?

Lloyd, too bad the man you bought the meal for didn't appreciate it.  However, you did a nice thing to buy him the meal and were not responsible what he did with it.  Most often when we donate money we really don't know how it is going to end up being used.

June, what a cleaver way to help the resident remember what or is not a trash day.  I fear the days of Mon and Pop stores are pretty much a thing of the past.  Technology has and will continue to make many changes in the way we live our lives.

Gloria, Pat really didn't gain much from her appointment at the pain clinic although will go to see the surgeon in a few weeks to see whether he things there is anything that might help her.  She started taking the Gabapentin again and had a long nap yesterday afternoon and then slept 7 hours or more last night.  She had taken it at noon so in the future will take it before going to bed.  I have to wonder if the owner's of your building are aware of the $5,000 swindle.  I wonder if any of the tenants have written directly to the owner's telling them of the unreasonableness of her demands and how the tenants are treated.

Jenny, I hadn't read that story before or if I had it was a long time ago.  I shared it with Pat and my SIL for a little humor for the day.

Jane, you can't get sweet corn any fresher than from the farmer who has grown it.  I bet TLH will enjoy her special outing with you before her school starts.  What grade will she be in this year?

Amy, you aren't stubborn are you?  You sounds a lot like my wife.  I have had the pneumonia shot and also take the flu shot each year as know either health problem could be fatal to me with the weak heart.  Glad you liked your new doctor.  I just said a prayer for your husband that no cancer has reappeared.

Don't know where to start, I've been in a couple times every day (or more) but always on the run. My daughter is in town, now that she is retired she is having a ball since she worked ever since she was old enough to baby sit... & then all through school, college & full time work & raising 4 kids... this new freedom is such fun she is giddy.  But when she is in town she keeps everything humming.  Yesterday & today we've worked on getting the TV & VCR/DVD recorder/player running that Cas had set up in front of his treadmill.  Had the Toshiba VCR/DVD machine for too many years to work with hi-def.... (at least that's what my son said).... so I bought a new type for my every day taping of shows I don't want to watch at the time.

The treadmill was new & top of the line (when my husband bought it), but don't think he used it more than a few times because his stamina was gone.  The TV was old,  another one I had that would have been okay, my daughter & I couldn't figure why it was only black & white (we got that far).... but her son had a newer/larger one he was going to give away & was thrilled to give to me.  He & his family go to breakfast with me most Sunday mornings so was happy to be able to give me something.  I love being the giver & have to force myself to accept gracefully.   :-[

Daughter & I gave up & she invited herself over for biscuits & gravy, eggs, bacon & hash browns so begged her brother to come & eat breakfast with us & help with set up.  They got everything installed & working (including operating the treadmill).... I had an extra antenna that even impressed Andy because it got stations he can't get... in the basement level.  Main reason I wanted to get all this set up is my daughter is thinking she needs another place to sleep when her son & family is out of town (she has a daughter living in town), or when her DIL's mother or sisters visit & need their spare bedroom.)  I have lots of room & have no problem with them using the whole "west wing" master bedroom, with sitting room & bathroom completely private.  I use a different bedroom that the cats share with me during the winter. SO, that's what I've been up to.  My Fitbit tells the tale of busy-busy!

Amy, serious prayers for a good report this morning.... my thoughts are with you.

Can't remember who posted the funnies, but I actually gave out a hoot of laughter ... thanks.  Reminds me, I have a quote/saying I copied & is on the counter in the kitchen.... but don't remember where I copied it from, maybe here?  It is: " Laughter is the shock absorber of life."   Sounds right to me, you think?

I'd better get busy, daughter went to take her DIL to lunch & pack her bag to get back to the airport by 4:00 pm.  Have some cheap flights between Wichita & St.Louis & she could have flown direct to Seattle from here as well... since she is waiting for the call that her oldest daughter is heading to the hospital to deliver her 2nd baby.... she needs to get there fast to take care of the 2 year old.  This is her 5th grandchild & has given up a week of vacation with each, to help.  I kind of like my kids in case you didn't know it.   ;)  She is coming back here to wait for time to head to airport... has a rental car to turn in.

Jane, I'm another that doesn't take the flu or pneumonia shots.... for fear of worse complications.  I also had pneumonia at 2 years old but didn't know that gave me a pass on the shots.  Thanks!

Hugs to all, my mind was creating answers with each post but didn't have a WordPad pulled up to type .... or this would be a foot long by now.  Consider yourselves lucky~ ::)  Will check in later tonight, possible strong T-storms later this afternoon.  Almost afraid to say it, but the RV has not had it's first hail damage... yet.... & 3 years old next month!

June Drabek

Amy, prayers are said that all went will with your hubby's c.t. scan. I have had one of those, as my Dr. wanted to know how far my artery disease had developed. 40 to 90 percent in both legs. I will not go for another unless ordered to. I continue doing my massage and leg exercise, and I feel it has helped to keep it in check. I'm happy to know that you have found a young Dr. that recognizes your feelings about tests. I am much the same as you, but much older, so don't feel that important any more.

Janie, Corn on the cob…..I used to make a meal of it…slathered with butter, salt and pepper. Now my teeth need gentle care, so I stick to creamed corn in a can. BLAH !

Hal, one year the flu shots turned dangerous. My Mom developed a paralyzing illness from it and nearly died. That year both my husband and I got severely ill with the flu after we had the injections. Have a great time with relatives in Del Rio my friend.

Janie do you remember the year that the flu shot made you so ill ? It practically paralyzed my Mom and we nearly lost her.

Gloria, we are having a warmer sunny day here too, so after I go down for lunch I will come home and put on something loose. My Dori ordered me four short MuuMuu's that will arrive next week. I have just one that I had made when I still sewed and it is soooooo comfy in hot weather, she she is getting me more of them.

Larry, there may be a return of Mom and Pop stores if the big guys try to educate us to save them money. And that is exactly what they aim for…less employees, dollars in their coffers, and let the public do the work.

Tisie,I am so happy for you AND your daughter. She started as I did..baby sitting. Your post are always so interesting and welcoming. Please don't ever leave us.

I am going to make myself go down for lunch now. It is so easy to just pull in and stay home, but that is not necessarily good for us elderlies. So off I go.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JUNE, I started working for Pennsylvania House Furniture in 1986 and I worked there 6 years.  It was sometime while I was working there that the company decided flu shots were important and they offered them free of charge.  IEveryone was getting them and my Dr. said I should, too so I did.  I was sick for about 2 weeks most of the time sick enough to be in bed.  I thought it was a fluke that time so I did it the next year, too.  Same thing.  I haven't had one since.  Nor have I had the flu bad enough to need a Dr.'s care.

I didn't eat the corn off the cob either...or rather, I cut it off the cob and then ate it.  As someone said, you can't get it much fresher than just picked by the farmer.  It was so good!

Going to just put my feet up and rest..

Jeanne Lee, did you receive my message requesting you post a  picture and message of me ? It would need re-sizing and other abbreviations as needed for posting.

Speaking of getting ill from Flu shots. This is what happened to my Mom years back. She recovered but was extremely ill for several months.

Guillain-Barré syndrome and Flu Vaccine. What happened in 1976 with GBS and the swine flu vaccine?

In 1976 there was a small increased risk of GBS following vaccination with an influenza vaccine made to protect against a swine flu virus. The increased risk was approximately 1 additional case of GBS per 100,000 people who got the swine flu vaccine. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) conducted a thorough scientific review of this issue in 2003 and concluded that people who received the 1976 swine influenza vaccine had an increased risk for developing GBS. Scientists have multiple theories on why this increased risk may have occurred, but the exact reason for this association remains unknown.
The link between GBS and flu vaccination in other years is unclear, and if there is any risk for GBS after seasonal flu vaccines it is very small, about one in a million.  Studies suggest that it is more likely that a person will get GBS after getting the flu than after vaccination. It is important to keep in mind that severe illness and death are associated with influenza, and vaccination is the best way to prevent influenza infection and its complications.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Quote from the Forest Gump movie - this was sent to me.

[ ] And just like that people were mad at statues  [/color]

That quote was sent to me and I need to verify it but it does sound like the movie.  Anyway, I just saw pictures of the riot where people were jumping on cars.

We have enough going on around here with extra cars and campers driving into Colorado and Wyoming for the eclipse.  There is no room - tell people to try Nebraska or mid-west.  No set ups for security, sanitation, water, food and so forth.  One road was stopped for 30 miles.  And, people are bringing children - we will stay home and not look up.

Larry:  This is a trial run of a mini-bus in a designated area.  No attendant.  I would be concerned with security.

Shirley:  Nice to see your post.  You have a loving family.  enjoy.

Jenny:  We had my birthday coupon for Fresh Fish Company today and I had the Halibut for lunch and leftover dinner.  It was really good.  Then, we went to Trader Joe's.  A great day.

Tomorrow, grandson is arriving and he wants grandpa to help him make a sofa table with hockey sticks.  We shall see how this works out.

We get our flu shots every year in September and usually never catch colds either.

JaneS

All I know is I got the flu shots and I got very sick.  I didn't get the shots and I didn't get sick.  I'll go with the odds.

I'm off to Dreamland!  Good night Everyfriend.  May God watch over us all and keep us safe throughtout the night.

Well, the eye doc appoint took forever and with not the best results. I am now going to have cataracts removed from both eyes with no guarantee that it will improve my vision. Good possibility I will be grounded after January when my license expires on my 85th birthday. But we shall see.  My field of vision test was better than last time tested.  My apmt was for 11:40 and I didn't get home until 2:30 and we didn't get on the road until 4.  Got into Del Rio at about 6:45.  We just discovered my daughter no longer has a coffee pot or coffee except some instant coffee, so wife and daughter are at WalMart taking care of that problem.

I am tired. And worn out and think I am going to hit the hay.

Nite everyone.  God bless, sweerdreams.

Denver

Coming in to see how everyone's day went?

Good to see your post, SHIRLEY.  I truly was a bit worried that you had not posted, but now we know why!  It is  always nice to have family visiting.

CAROL, it must be your Birthday......SPECIAL HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes to you.  I am pretty sure you would not go out for a birthday lunch if it were not!  Glad that you enjoyed your meal.  Your "Forest Gump" did not come through, but I think I know what it was.  I wish I could help you correct it, but I can not.

I bought a walker today.....it was advertised on a neighborhood sales group.  It is a very nice one and I got it for a very reasonable price.  It is a "drive"  and after checking it is a pricy one.  It has larger wheels and it moves very nice and turns on a dime.  I took it out for a spin tonight and it was great.  I was able to walk at a nice fast pace and it sure felt good.  I have been having a lot of problems walking, mostly a pain issue, but also I do not feel all that stable and being able to hold on to it helped me really get with it.  I hope this will allow me to get more exercise.

HAL, I am sorry your eye appointment did not result in a more possitive report.  Oh my, no coffee pot....I would be headed out to buy one too!  Gotta have our coffee, don't we?

GLORIA, I recently bought some wide frozen noodles at Walmart.  I made chicken noodle soup with them and they were really very good.  I think the brand is Reames.  I used to always make my own, but now I am trying just about anything that makes my time spent in the kitchen shorter.  I just can't stand like I used to be able to and I am a nervous wreck, especially if some one is here to eat with us....  Just not like I used to be!  I think cooking for the 5 guys wore me out!

AMY, I will be holding the most positive thoughts and saying special prayers that the CT scan will show no signs of that darn cancer.  I hope you both are sleeping well after the stress of the day.

Best I turn off the lights and bid you all a wish for pleasant dreams.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I have the rest of the corn to deal with today and that's all that's on my agenda so far.

Carol, if I somehow missed your birthday, I hope it was a happy one!  It sounds like you enjoyed your lunch....and then enjoyed it again, later.

I forgot who it was who asked about the wide noodles but I didn't quite know how to answer that.  If you were asking about the ones for the "Pot pie", I make them myself.  If you were asking about regular noodles, I get them at the Amish store where they make them.

I hope you all have a lovely day.  Our sunshine is supposd to be the liquid kind also today.  We already had some of it during the night.    Enjoy your day whatever it brings!

Hi everyone. It is going to be another mid-90's day here after it got to 97 yesterday afternoon.  The heat index was 107.  We did get two nice but short afternoon rains.  Today is to be in the mid-90's again but no indicated chance of further rain.

I stayed home all day yesterday.  I did call the AC man who installed our AC unit.  He was able to be here in 20 minutes and checked everything out and found nothing wrong with the unit.  He told me we should keep the fan on Auto during the AC season and use fiberglass filters rather than the pleated filters and to keep the door open upstairs as it is zoned and it helps the air circulate.  He did not charge me for the visit, which was a shock.  The fiberglass filters are much cheaper than the type I have been buying and said they do as good a job but allow more air to circulate. I plan on watching some of the golf tourney this afternoon.

Shirley, glad your daughter is able to enjoy her retirement.  It sounds like she is getting you all set up with the electronics.  Glad you accepted your son's gift to you as he can experience the joy of giving that you do when you are the giver.

June, my wife this year purchased four of the long MuuMuu type garments.  It is the first time she has worn anything like a dress in many, many years.  She wears then only here at home and says they are very comfortable.  I think they look very nice and enjoy seeing her wearing them.

Jane, I have never had any problem with the flu shots and have taken them for many years.

Amy, hope you were able to get rested up last night after the exhausting day you had yesterday.

Lloyd, my wife is getting a lot of joy from watching the humming birds at the feeder.

Carol, I would also stay off that mini-bus until it has proven to be safe.  I bet grandpa will be able to figure that out for his grandson. If this is your birthday weekend I want to say a bit Happy Birthday.

Hal, I do hope your cataract surgery will improve your vision and that you won't lose your driver's license.

Jenny, having a walker to use when needed is very wise.  Pat is still using hers when she is feeling unsteady on her feet or her legs don't seem to want to work correctly.  Pat is now using a desk type chair raised to hits top position when sitting at the stove waiting for something to cook.  It takes the strain off her back from standing.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, had a good sleep last night. I think I told you I sent for MyPillows and really like them. Was thinking maybe a new mattress would help but they are so expensive these days, Instead I ordered the topper from My Pillow. Got it Tuesday but it has to lay flat for 3 days before using it. I had slept on the couch for a few nights., Well last night I tried it out and I slept great. Only reason I broke down and ordered it because it was on sale, almost 50% off.

PT came yesterday afternoon but really just took information.  She said she would be here today and I asked  on Saturday?  Depends what her husband has planned.  Then she asked if I wanted 1 or 2 times a week. I think 2 will be enough. Do not want to get anymore worn out than I already am.

No other comments from me this morning. Past time for me to have breakfast.

I had both eyes done…but not at the same time, as I was in widowhood at the time, and drove myself home after the surgery. Very carefully.

Jenny I am SO happy you now have a walker. Mine is my closest companion, even crossing the floor in my apt. my rollator holds me up, and lets me dance with it..I do the leading…but it gives me new freedom. My balance is very poor and lately I have developed shortness of breath that comes without warning and I feel I may pass out, so Mr. Cart allows me to sit down or just hang tight till the feeling passes.Enjoy yours to the fullest Jenny……new freedom is yours.

Janie, I have no plans at all for today. I would like to go down for an evening program tonight, but by the time evening rolls around I'm usually too tired. I'll see what the body says when the time arrives.

Larry, I find the muumuus to be so comfortable and the way they are gathered at the neckline gives me freedom from wearing anything binding underneath. I also have three long dresses with collars in a material similar to a tee shirt, and the too are extremely comfortable. I do wear mine out in public..I am decently covered and have received many compliments.

To add to my former statement on the Boston Protesters….they are like mean little kids..they dress up is certain attire and get out there and misbehave, and get all sorts of attention from the police and the news people….it is like a game for them. I'll bet most of them don't even know what they are protesting. Infantile brains.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Carol

Thanks for any birthday greetings.  It isn't until Monday and I keep saying you will have an eclipse of the sun sending this message ---- :D

There is a whole lot of noise in the basement with the saw running. Grandson and Don are making a coffee table.  Earlier, Don and I went to buy a new Epson printer that was on sale.  We did not sign on to any ink refill plan.  We buy much less expensive refill ink on the net.  We stopped at a store to buy the three things needed to make two more solar glass lights - a gift for daughter and granddaughter.  The first two made for our back deck are working fine.

Jenny:  The Forest Gump quote sent to me was:  "And just like that people were mad at statues".  It is another insane group happening now to just continue the herd mentality.  A statue of Abraham Lincoln was defaced.  I didn't know you now own a walker.  Good for you.  Must tell you that Don breathes much better in Arizona or any lower altitude.   Should we look for a place for you two?  Would love it.  Snow and ice are rare there.

Hal:  Several of my relatives drove their vehicles well into their 90's.  In Minnesota - but I am not sure that they got the hang of using a turning signal......
