Denver you area night person, Have a good rest.

JaneS I am ok with the eclipse either way, if I decide to watch it I have plenty of welding helmets with sufficient darkness in the lenses.but doubt I will bother with it. I am more concerned with my dizzy light head. have a great day everyone.

Amy

Good morning everyone..
Foggy here this morning. Waiting on the VON to come then we can go have tea with our friends. When the dew is off the grass I will get the grass cut and then this afternoon take hubby to the foot clinic.

Jane, what all is in one of those dinners?

Gloria de, hope this cut heals faster than the last one.

Larry, we missed your post yesterday.

Hal, bet you will be glad to get home and in your own bed.

Gloria, I have one little blueberry plant in the garden, maybe a handful of berries this year. I don't need to make applesauce this year but would like to makes pies and freeze them.

Lloyd, hope you soon feel a lot better.

Enjoy your  day everyone.

White meat chicken with a savory garlic sauce, yakisoba noodles, bell peppes and bok choy.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, got home about 4 yesterday afternoon.  Got things out of the car and fixed the pup some fresh water, she immediately went to the front room and her window and went to sleep, then came back in and drank water like she hadn't had any for the whole weekend.  Anyhow later the wife went out and picked up some fish and chips for supper, i eat to slow and my fish got cold and I didn't eat all of it, but did finish the cold slaw and hush puppies.

Jenny your friend must have lots of get up and go, along with spirit.  I have a lot of admiration for someone like that.  God Bless her and her family.

I have a 9 o'clock apmt to take my wifes car in to get tire air pressure sensor fixed, hope they don't take to long.

About the eclipse we wont get to much of a show here, guess I can watch it on TV if I really want to see it.  I saw the 78 eclipse, not total but close and to be honest I wasn't that impressed, just got dusky and I watched it on a pinhole in a shoe box.  And it works....LOL  Lloyd the welders mask would be neat to watch it with.  I can remember back in my youth my mother smoking some glass so we could watch one, but I cant remember much else about that event.

Well I better get myself cleaned up and get some coffee.  Talk to you later.

Gloria

Good morning on this "historic eclipse " day. Everyone excited and planning to have your safe glasses on to watch? I did watch a beautiful eclipse in San Diego at sunset with the sun sinking into the Pacific as it cleared.

CAROL  my daughter's iPad is about 6 years old now and she is starting to have problems. She uses it all the time since they moved and is about time for a new one.

JANE  oh yes, your SIL is a keeper for sure.

AMY one doctor I liked and trusted was an old time GP and made house visits. He retired very quietly and it was several months later we found out why, he died from cancer 6 months after he retired.

GLORIA de  so sorry you cut your leg. Make sure you follow your doctor's orders. How nice to have a visit from your nephew.

JUNE  I cannot just stand on my own without holding onto something. Stepping on a scale I am able to let go just long enough for my weight to show.

JENNY  I think DON was emotional yesterday at the end of the program. That was a lot of years and hours of his life on Sunday afternoons. I did save the link to his podcasts. He deserves a rest but I hope he still keeps posting. That is a beautiful aria in Maine. Wonder if the boys as many as they put in their buckets.

AMY  I had some small pie tins that were 2 serve size. I used to make and freeze apple pies in them. My daughter now has them since I no longer bake.

HAL  after watching the sunset eclipse this one does not interest me too much. Seeing the shadow clear the sun as it was sinking into the Pacific is really a once in a life time sight.

Have a good day.

We are suppose to be able to start viewing the
eclipse     around noon today EDT.....

I am going to try to follow it here:
https://www.nasa.gov/eclipselive/#National+Park+Service+Coverage...

Other wise, here in New England isn't going to see much.
(Like Texas,  I suspect!)

Have a good day ,  Every one!

Hi everyone. The eclipse day has finally arrived and according to the our local weather report it is to be partly cloudy here this afternoon when the full eclipse hits us around 2:40.  It looks like we will only get to 90 this afternoon, which will be better than what we have experienced the last few days.

I have to get a haircut this morning and find the right type of filters for my heat pump.  That is all that is on my schedule for today.

I did write a post yesterday but was rushed and failed to see that it hadn't gotten posted as there was a new posting.  I assure you that no nuggets of wisdom or anything important were missed.  All was fine yesterday and Pat did have a reasonably good day.

Carol, I will take a pass on the oatmeal.  I'll take my oatmeal in the form of cookies.

Jane, it sounds like you can use a bit of rest from all the canning and freezing.  I have never had a P.F. Chang dinner. Those dinners were a nice gift. It sounds like your son is a good salesperson and a good business person to buy from as your friends found out.

Don, I was able to listen to the first two hours of your show but missed the last hour.  I will miss your shows.  However, I have thousands of classical pieces available in playlists on my Spotify account.

Sandy, it is nice States provide Photo ID's for those who do or cannot have a driver's license for identification.

Amy, I bet you enjoyed having your lunch out yesterday so you didn't have to cook.  It sounds like the doctor who retired was greatly loved and appreciated.  There probably are few doctors who would allow patients to come to their homes after hours.

deAngel, so sorry to hear of your new cut on your leg and glad that you saw the doctor right away.  Was this the same nephew who had the wreck and got stranded in New York a few months ago?

June, glad you were able to get to the Chapel services and then have a quiet and restful day. I sure would find it hard to pass up prime rib.  :)

Lloyd, I remember when your senior center had it's festival and auction last year.  I might pay $60 for an apple or lemon or chocolate pie but certainly not $360 for a gooseberry pie.

Jenny, did you win at bingo?  I used to to to places for bingo when I would visit my folks in Arizona in the winters and always enjoyed it and especially watching the other people. Was picking the blueberries something your grandson's had never experienced before?

Hal, hope the air pressure sensor fix doesn't take long this morning.  It sounds like it is just a matter of resetting something.

Carol

"the sun goes down and the stars come out" - I have been thinking of that song all morning.  Yep, we will have a real eclipse right here - I have heard between 75% and almost 90%.  Enough for me.  The roads are packed and when everyone leaves Wyoming it will be a mass exodus.

Amy:  Wouldn't that be great to celebrate for any reason it would be fun to meet.

Gloria de:  So sorry for your leg problem.  Do try to relax with your leg propped up.

JaneS:  Love your unplanned nap.

Don just brought me coffee and one of his beautiful homemade birthday cards.  He has made cards on the computer for years and our friends and family really treasure his work.

AMY, you can buy the P.F. Chang dinners in most any grocery store around here.  American Home Foods is a National Food Service company that serves grocery stores all over the world (or so I understand).  There is a major center in the next town and Craig, my SIL has worked there as a Buyer Representative for many years.  It's been there since Chef BoyArDee went into business in the 20s or 30s and they sold out to AHF about 30 years ago (I think)  One of my class mates married the grandson heir to the original Chef Boy Ar Dee.  His actual name is Paul Boiardi.  That's where the name came from.  And now you've had your history lesson for the day.  Sorry to be so wordy.

Merry Monday,

Thanks, Sandy for mentioning the NASA web site for watching the eclipse. I'm really interested in the link to the balloon that's supposed to be 100,00 feet in the air.
I hope to pull the site up on my Tablet and then sit on the patio and "experience" the atmosphere.   We're supposed to get somewhere between 85% and 95% here (I think - the gurus keep changing things  :D)

https://www.nasa.gov/eclipselive/#NASA+EDGE:+Ca-K+Telescope

The young clerk at Braum's this morning said his friend is in Wyoming at the totality location.  Friend said hotel rooms were going for $1000.00 a night.   :idiot2:

Carol

Thanks for the greetings!  I am blessed!  Amy:  I set your nice quilting site under favorites and will take a better look later.

I just found out that one of my alma maters - University of Texas took 4 confederate statues down overnight.  Really?  That is so brave :o  I am not sending my heavy book diploma back - still irked that a teacher "lost" my final and I was already on my way to Colorado so I couldn't go back and retake the darn final test.  Lowered my A grade.  Never forgive that nutty professor.

Don and I went out for a huge breakfast so there is enough waffle left to share.  Mom used to make the best waffles - I had trouble with them sticking to the iron sometimes.  I just downloaded the new Epson printer information to my laptop.  That goes fast - another also fast thing is how these wonderful printers die too soon.  It is cheaper to buy a new one $49 - than to have the old one fixed.

Callie:  Am going to do the same as you - download the NASA site (thanks Sandy) and sit on the deck.  Wow on Wyoming - when we lived in the Air Force - it was a lonely and open state.  My favorite to drive through to this day.

I am having to turn on the light to see the keys, eclipse is to be about 90?% here (different reports like Callie).

Was positive I left you a Happy Birthday, Carol, but didn't see it.  I do understand the frustration with professors.... my daughter's  left early to work on his PH D...... and left with daughter's term paper & all her references.... near 500 pieces of research.  Guess what he would be writing his thesis on?  Since I had saved about 250 of those articles and gave them to her for her high school term paper, I was more than a little upset he managed to get away with his deed.  Not sure if they gave her credit but think they did, she had a Dean on her side.

Time out to take a photo at 1:05 pm here in Wichita.  NOT of the sun/moon, just landscape out my window.

:hb3: :hb2: :hb2: Happy Birthday, Carol!

Didn't take long to get a few photos.... not all that impressive, we've seen darker noon time with dust storms in Western Kansas.   :-\    I am sure it was more exciting where it was total.... family members in KC & Jefferson City are watching.

Carol, the last 2 Epson printers/scanners we bought were from the Epson store, "refurbished with full warranty".  Still using one but
I made the mistake of trying to refill cartridges on mine & ruined it.  Even had bought the refillable ones online & paid more than normal full price & discovered the extra $25. I paid for the gizmo to reset ink.... that did NOT work on my model, but had waited too long to refill so no need to complain.  Dumb purchase.

JaneS

Busy day...mostly unplanned but Kiran and I decided that sometimes the unplanned days turn out to be more fun than the planned ones.

We stood in line at the library to get on a waiting list for eclipse viewing glasses and did get a pair each.  We watched it start from the library parking lot while we finished our take out from Micky D's.  Then we went in town and stopped at the Agency on Aging because my daughter was going to have a couple pages copied for me.  We offered a pair of glasses to my friend who is the receptionist there and she took them outside to get a look at the eclipse.  She took someone else with her and Kiran went along to explain how to use them.  On her way back in she told a couple other people who told a couple other people who told....well, you get the picture.  The entire office building (about 30 or so people) emptied out so they could get a glimpse of the eclipse.  We had a ball!

Then we stopped at the post office to mail my application and then to WM to shop for after school snacks for Kiran.  On the way home, she said, "I sure had fun today!  I said, "Me, too!  and we agreed that sometimes unplanned activities turn out to be more fun than planned ones.  I love that little gal!

Now I'm ready for another of those "unplanned naps".  What do you think?

Jane, well now I know:) While I was out this afternoon I picked up some Clear Jel to use in canning pie fillings. The lady that owns the bulk food store bought a bag of it for me when she was over to Wallenstein.

I did manage to cut the grass , let the neighbours dog out and then took hubby to Foot Fix.. we had a cold salad plate for supper with vanilla ice cream and DELICIOUS black raspberry syrup on top!!

ðŸŽ, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ðŸŽ,

CAROL

Good afternoon, EVERYFRIEND!

We had a delightful morning watching the eclipse festivities on TV and in person here on our deck.  One neighbor came over and we all had a time expierencing our local eclipse.  Sure glad we all had our own safety glasses.

LARRY, I am glad to read you are fine and there was just a mess up that kept your post from us. I did not win at Bingo, but I sure had a fun time.  The granddaughter won a small one and the oldest grandson won the blackout, but he had to share with about 6 others, so it was a rather small amount as well.  I think everyone enjoyed our time together very much.  This was the first time the Boston Grands have ever picked blueberries and their dad said they both ate most of what they picked!

GLORIA, I agree, it was a very emotional time for Don yesterday on his program.  I got to watch a video clip of it this morning and it got to me even more as I watched him and her my song that I love so much at the end of the program.  I did try to find a way to copy the video, but was not able to.  I do hope there is another way to view it rather than Face Book.  I told my son that a lady on here, Our Jane, said that when she picks them it is mandatory that it is two for the picker and one for the basket...he got a big kick out f that and so did the boys?

JANE, how nice to read TLH and you had a fun time together today.  The one on one times are so important to both sides.  How nice of you two to share your glasses with others so they. Old view the eclipse as well.

I must get a move on.....once again, thank you for the nice positive comments about my neighbor Pam.  HAL, she does have a lot of "get up and go" and that attitude might just be what it takes her to get through this.

Jenny

JENNY, I keep forgetting to tell you than I have been offering prayers for Pam and I'd also like to say that she has what it takes to be a survivor.  I also have to tell you that the work "survivor" is special to me.  My father commented to one of my older cousins once that "Jane's a survivor".  At the time, I pictured myself kicking like crazy just to keep my head above water.  It was several years before I ran across the dictionary definition of a survivor as "someone who meets adversity and gets on with life at it's best".  And since my Dad was a dictionary reader, I knew this was the one he meant for me.  It made me proud.  I hope it makes Pam proud, too.

I was sure I posted in here about noon time but it is nowhere to be seen. Nothing important so it doesn't matter. I got myself down for lunch, then over to the Club house  to view the old movie of Casablanca. Seemed strange to see all that cigarette smoking going on, but nice to see the faces that we no longer see or hear about.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

I'm going to try to get to bed a bit early tonight.  After my busy and rewarding day today, I'm worn out and I have to be bright and chipper on the job tomorrow morning.  So I bid you all....

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

Happy Birthday Carol.

Jenny how long will the lady by gone from home before she returns?
Seems like they will be pushing her to fit her and have her walking so quickly.

Busy day, Larry I sit there an hour and half and they came out and advised me that they didn't have the part, that it would be a while before it would be there.  So I ended up picking the car up at 4 this afternoon.
And we had company all afternoon.  Long story.

Amy thanks, but not on the laptop dose it do any thing, it is just a single square not a double. I will just have to weight until grand daughter can come fix it. too much month at the end of the $$$$. my biggest problem is my short membery. we have two laptop's one hooked up to big screen TV it is doing Ok but I done something with ctrl. key and center wheel do not remember  what? also the spell ck words are so small need a magnifying glass to read. oh yes the big screan is too far away to work some things on it and If I messed it up Nancy would brake my plate over my head or cut my throught one or both.

Lloyd

larryhanna

Hi everyone. This morning is starting out sunny but by afternoon we have a 60% chance of rain with a high in the low 90's.  This is going to be a busy morning as Pat has a 9 am appointment with the podiatrist and his office is about 30 minutes away.  Then later this morning I have to go downtown and pick up a grocery online order at Walmart.

We watched the eclipse on TV as they tracked it in our area.  It got darker, but not dark here with a weak light outside.  As far as I know people here were able to view a total eclipse or almost total eclipse.  They showed many students at Clemson out watching the total eclipse up there.

Jane, interesting history lesson about the company where you son works.

Carol, too bad about your grade but probably after your first employment that grade loss was meaningless to employers.  At least that was my experience as I found experience counted much more than grades. I know the good grades was probably what helped me get my first employment with the Federal government and at a couple of steps higher on the pay scale.  After that it was performance that counted. I haven't had a waffle in a long time.  I have a printer now that is junk because the ink overflow container is full and it isn't worth the cost to have it fixed.

Shirley, it sounds like your daughter had a very dishonest professor.

Jane, it sounds like you had a wonderful day with Kiran and that you just went with the flow of the day.  Those eclipse glasses had a good workout with all that sharing.

Amy, we often have a cold salad plate for dinner with chicken or tuna salad on top.  In fact that is probably on the menu for later this week.  We have leftover baked pork chops, a very good cauliflower cheese casserole and green beans that will be our dinner tonight and tomorrow night we will eat out with Scott and Jennifer.

Jenny, I bet you would rather see your grandchildren win at Bingo than winning yourself and I bet they were excited at winning.

Hal, that sounds like a tiring day with the waiting without results on your car and an afternoon of visiting.  I hope they got the problem fixed on your car.

Lloyd, I see Amy gave you the answer to resizing your page.  If the print is still too small hold down the Control key and at the same time use the mouse wheel to increase or decrease the size of the font.  I see you said it didn't work on the laptop so you can also put the cursor on the left hand edge of the page until you see a left or right arrow.  Click on the arrow and drag the page to the side and it should fill out the screen.

Lloyd Hammond

AMY & Larry thanks.
Well we got part good size fonts but still do not have full with  and when I miss spell a word and click spell CK need a magnifying glass to read the word to replace. we have 5" in rain gauge through the night. humming Birds are at the feeders in big numbers.  I would like to go shop and work on making recipe boxes but still have some dizzy head, so no deal. so may just fiend a good western movie. If you either or figure out how for me to enlarge spell ck back
to size and bring page to full weight jump on board I will ck from time to time today.

Lloyd

Gloria

Good morning everyone. Well it was overcast here from about 10am till 4:30pm so reallly could not see the eclipse.

JENNY  we used to say we had to have a few blueberries off each bush to see if they tasted good before we picked. Same when we went and picked apples when my 3 were young. Everyone picking apples could be seen eating an apple.

For some reason I feel worn out this morning and I slept good last night. Think I will go lay on the couch and watch TV. Have a good day.

I went to the doctor yesterday in late afternoon.  Infact I was the last patient,he just fitted me in.  Said I had the start of and infection and wanted me to start and antibiotic as soon as possible  My friend went to  pick it up and the drug store said they could not fill it as they did not understand the amount. they could not reach the doctor, so said first thing this AM they would and and let me know when to pick it up.  So far it is after Noon, and still no call, then I have to find someone to pick it up.
