Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Jeanne Lee, Thank you, with all my heart...........this is one of the best gifts ever !!!!! Our Bis looks SO well, and what a treat to have our boy there with her.

All is well here. I had a good lunch sent up to my room, and enjoyed it. Enough food left over for a supper. Just didn't feel like socializing. Still some shortness of breath, but better than before, so there is improvement, thanks be to God and the wonderful prayers that surely do help.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

I've been gone all day and imagine my surprise and my DELIGHT to come back and find my good friend, Joanie and her handsome Finley looking out from my computer screen.  Keep up the good work, Joanie.  We all love you and miss you!  Hope your birthday was a happy one and it looks like it was!

Janie, doesn't our Bis/Joan look great?????? I am so pleased to see how well she is recovering, and Finlay looks as happy as his Grandma. What a wonderful surprise this was.

I had a quiet day at home...I did go out for two walks, but ready for an early bedtime.

Still horrible news from Texas and now it is in Louisiana what a horrible thing this has been. It will mean years of recovery.I am thankful Hal and those of his family members in Corpus Christi made it through without great harm.

I am off to an early bed, and I pray you all have a very Blessed night, and a happy healthful tomorrow. Hugs and Love and God's Blessings. Always.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

JUNE, I'm still praying for the safty of my granddaughter and her husband who are in Houston.  So far, they've not been inundated and are safe from the flood waters but the aftermath will affect everyone who is living there.  She was supposed to begin her new job with Menninger Clinic today.

Please, everyone, continue to offer prayers for their safety.  It's working!  Thank you..

And may God bless us, every one!

What a nice treat to see Joan & that handsome redhead gr-son!  Thank you, Jenny & Jeannie Lee, for the nice surprise!

Jane, glad to hear the kids are high & dry.  What a nightmare so many are dealing with, hard to imagine that is goes from bad to worse by the hour with no relief in sight.  Already our gas bumped up 20¢ a gallon today & just the start of the cost of living going up because of Harvey.  Think of all the fields of veggies we buy that are now under water..... boggles the mind.  It will be a long time (if ever) before many have a normal life again.

Prayers for all in need and God Bless every Friend and everyone they love.
:smitten:

Callie, that isn't the place I had read about.... but very interesting!  OK has some unusual "diggings".  The other place had soft type crystals or whatever that the article pointed out "needed to dry to harden or they would warp, and they were in the shape of a cross".
Someday I may find where & take a week to look around the state.  "Someday" is really going to be fun.

JANE, I certainly am hold positive thoughts and saying prayers for your family, as well as anyone else that might have friends or family in the path of Harvey!  It is so sad to see how bad it is getting in Houston.

JEANNE LEE, I think I have to agree with you....Finlay has his eye on that cake!  Thank you again for posting the picture.  It brought everyone pleasure to see the birthday girl.

Pleasant dreams to all, and I will now turn off the lights.

Good morning everyone..

Another cool day here,so many signs of fall here now. Some leaves have already started to turn colour. We have two people coming today and I have 1/2 bushel of peaches to do down.  That should be my day.

Jane,I shall be listening to the sound of music later today.  :thumbup:Prayers still on going for your g/daughter and her hubby. I was watching the news and all the devastation in TX, can't imagine how they are going to recover from it all.

I had better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

I just had a text from my daughter.  She said that, aside from some surface water in the street from all the rain, the kids have do real water to deal with.  But these are two very active kids who are always doing something and they are going stir crazy.  Everyone is confined to their homes or shelters and are being cautioned NOT to be out and about even if it seems safe.  So they are abiding by the rules as hard as that is for them to do.

Thanks again for all the prayers.  I'm sure God is listening.

I'll be off to Wally World at 8:30 this morning so I better get moving.

Amy, enjoy the "music".  I'm sure you will!

Good morning, a cloudy and damp morning and boy do I feel the difference. Think this will be a dy for just staying on the couch and watching TV and snoozing. Too hard to sit at the PC lately.

LLOYD  I always thought you and JOAN had the same birthday, too.

HAL  after several days of bright sun, low humidity and 70's I knew as soon as I got up every thing changed overnight.

JEANNE LEE  thank you for posting this picture of Joan and Finlay. Love the smile on her face and wow Finlay is a handsome young man. Been a long time since we saw a picture of him. This sure brought tears to my eyes.

JOAN  sorry I missed your birthday but I wish you a belated birthday. We all love and miss you so much.

Hi everyone. It looks like we are in for a mostly cloudy day and nice temperatures not getting above the mid-80's later this afternoon.  After a very restful and unproductive day yesterday, I awoke this morning feeling ready to take on the world.  I have the morning chores in the kitchen done.  In a little while I will leave to go to have my teeth cleaned and then pick up a couple of prescriptions for Pat at Walmart.  Scott is bribing over some clothes around noon to dry as he dryer died and the new one he purchased won't be delivered until Friday.

Jane, sure praying that your family in the Houston area still high and dry.

Lloyd, I think I enjoy watching golf because it is a game requiring a lot of skill and the pro's can do some great things on the course.  It is also enjoyable because it is something real and not scripted.  I think that is one reason I enjoy a lot of different sports.  Do you like college football or basketball or the pro versions of these? I agree that the little ones are fun to watch as you never know what they are going to do.

Hal, each day glad to see your message that you are still OK from the storm and sure hope it stays that way.  That Dustin Johnson can really drive that golf ball.  The commentators seem to be in awe each time he hits those long drives.

Callie, how many years does your granddaughter have to attend the Chiropractic school?

Jeanne, thanks for posting the picture Jenny sent you of Joan and Findlay.  It has been a long time since we saw a picture of him and he is certainly a handsome young man.  Nice that Joan could enjoy her 80th birthday and hope she was able to have a piece of that lovely cake. Nice to see her smile.

June, it was nice to see you were feeling better yesterday and hope the same applies today.

Jane, was the Menninger Clinic flooded?

Shirley, I have noticed that our gas prices are also increasing.  I was able to fill the tank up over at Costco on Saturday before the price increase.  I hadn't thought about the loss of crops due to the flooding and its effect on food prices.

Amy, we are not seeing any signs of fall down this way yet.  Everything is still very green.

Gloria, take it easy today.  Humidity and cloudy weather certainly have an effect on how we feel.

Good Morning Everyone!

Beautiful sunshiny day here this morning and the wind is starting to die down.

Larry golfer spend many, many hours perfecting their game.  I would think they have spent the equivalent to two or three rounds just in practice before they even tee off for their round in a tournament.

Nothing much on tap here today.  Wife is going out with a granddaughter to the mall so I will have the house to myself.

I hope everyone has a good day.

good Late Morning.
Larry we have a weather station less than twenty miles as a crow fly's from us. have a icon on the tool bar for it, click it and gives us local weather instantly. I just clicked it and it is 67º and full sun and saying going to 75º today. it is accurate on time all the time. Laugh if you want, but I have been

I have been drinking about two hours apart. mid morning and mid afternoon. have lost twenty pounds in 10 /12 days. I was just watching the humming birds. wish I knew how to post a video on here of them. my gd posted a video on Facebook  so if you want you can be friends there and will be able to see them,

Good Morning,

Larry,  Emily will have 10 - 12 trimesters of concentrated classes before she finishes her Doctorate.  The classes are assigned each term - no choice of when to take what.
This trimester, her schedule is 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  five days a week - with an hour for lunch.
She will have 3 weeks off at Christmas and 2 weeks between each of the other trimesters.

Both of her apartment-mates are beginning studies at Cleveland Chiropractic College, also.  There are other degree plans and I don't know what theirs are.

https://www.cleveland.edu/about-us/cleveland-at-a-glance

Her Dad (#1 son) came for dinner last night.  He had been texting all day with his friend "since the age of two", who lives in a suburb of Houston.  Friend and wife had decided to "shelter in place" and he had been able to get to and from work - with some difficulty.  By last evening, they were beginning to get concerned.  There's a levee not far from their home that is 59 feet above sea level.  I don't remember what the water level was behind the levee but their house is 65 feet above sea level and, if the levee should break........oh, my!

It's a gorgeous day here - bit of a Fall nip in the air.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Lindancer

Good afternoon, on this Fall like day, generally it is very hot this time of year.  I have a sweater on right now and feel just right.

Hal, glad to see you are safe.

Jane I am always ready for coffee.  I will bring a coffee cake.

Amy. half a bushel of peaches sound like a lot.  After the hurricane of 39, which was a bad one.  I was in a cooking class in high school and we had just learned how to can peaches.  So I came home and did canned peaches, and sent them over to the beach for the men that was busy cleaning up the aftermath of the storm. They were glad to get them.   My mother bought the jars and peaches. Many summer home and   Big mansions in Westhampton were lost

June, hope you keep feeling better.  The nurse that came to day to wrap my leg, wants me to see a pulmonary doctor so I can have oxygen, is staying very low, which makes my breathing bad.

Gloria, it is sweater  weather here to day.  We are waiting for that coast storm to arrive from the South. We are lucky it is suppose to stay 200 mils off shore.

Have read all the messages, but did not take notes. I heard on t.v. that that the important levee in Houston did break or overflow..the newscasters speak so quickly, I miss half of what they day.

Janie my prayers continue for Natalie and Clint. I am glad they are still high and dry. And I pray for those in shelters, that must be nerve shattering. It is going to take years to put some places in Texas back together again. May God be with all of them...the dis-placed, the workers, the volunteers...so many good, kind people. The looters should surely suffer for their sins.

i'm taking the day off....too hot to go out, 95 for a high and it looks like it will remain high through the week.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

I did decide about 3 o'clock to get my self out of the recliner and out for some sunshine, so I wandered down to the club house, exercises going on, but not for me, so sat outside in a glider are read and chatted a bit with passers-by. It was a good decision.
Then went back down now to check out my mail box. Had a nice "thank you" from the folks at DAV. I have donated to them for more years than I can remember.
I'll fix a light supper here at home, and that will be my day.
With more prayers for the folks in Texas and the other Gulf states.....the rain seems to be unending.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

The kids in Texas are still safe, thank you God!  I've been doing a little of this and a little of that today since I came home from work.  I don't seem to have accomplished a lot but some odd jobs are finished and I had a decent supper.

Tomorrow I have to get the bills organized and some of them paid.  That's a job I really dislike so it's one I avoid.  This month (meaning September) I'm going to get a head start on them.  We'll see if that's better.

I'm hoping to get to bed a bit early tonight.  So I might not make it back in to say "good night".  If I don't, please remember that I'll be praying for all of you.  God bless us, every one!

Dropping in late again tonight.

I have been watching the news off and on all day about the flood waters in a Texas.  I feel so sorry for the poor people.

Guess I will turn out the lights.

I'm up.  The doggies have been out and now we're waiting out Annie's pill time.  They both went back to sleep but I can't do that this morning.  That must mean that I got enough sleep last night.  I hope so.

I work this afternoon at 4 and I have a couple of things to do before that.  I already did one of them.  I placed an order at Amazon for the liver medicine that I give daily to both dogs.  So that's one thing done.

Now I'm going to have a cup of coffee and work my crossword puzzle.  I'll be on the patio if anyone wants to join me.  I know it's early but...O well!

Good morning everyone..

Going to be a nice day here again.
Yesterday didn't go as planned but I did get two loads of laundry done and one batch of peaches. I hope to finish them off after we get back from the city today.

Gloria De I bet those workers loved your peaches, that was very thoughtful of you and your Mom.

Lloyd, congratulations on your weight lose, that is very impressive and not an easy job to do.

Jane, I will grab my cup of tea and join you on the patio.

Need to get busy here

Hi everyone. It looks like it will be another cloudy day and have a fairly good chance of rain but it is suppose to stay in the high 70's today.

Pat and I will make a quick stop at Walmart this evening so she can get a pair of the Sholl's shoe inserts where you stand on a machine and it tells you what pair to get.  Our son has used these for several months and raves about what they have done for his feet.  He used to come home with his feet hurting very badly but the inserts have stopped that and he is on his feet for many hours at a time.  We will be in the Walmart outer ring this  evening as we are going out to eat with our son and granddaughter at the new Dairy Queen.

I had a good dental cleaning yesterday and no new dental work needed.  This is the third good report from cleaning I have had.

It seems the situation in Texas just gets worse by the day with new cities being flooded and more in the path of that terrible storm. There is a tropical storm off the coast of Georgia and the Carolina's that may bring problems to the coast.  Then this morning I heard there is another storm forming out in the ocean that may turn into a hurricane that could affect some of the Atlanta Coast states.  It looks like this may be a very bad year for hurricanes.

Hal, I hope you enjoyed your quiet time yesterday with the sunshine finally shining.  I expect the people of San Antonio are sighing a big sigh of relief. Is your town getting a lot of displaced persons from the Houston or other flooded areas?

Lloyd, I just looked at the weather reading for outside out house a few minutes ago and it was only 73 and it is still cloudy.  It sounds like the vinegar and honey drink is working for you.  I have read that vinegar is good for us and honey is one of nature's wonders. That is a large weight loss in a very short time.

Callie, that sounds like a grueling schedule that Emily has and then sure she will have to spend many additional hours studying on her own.  It sounds like your son's friend has reason to be concerned if they would be impacted from the dam's that overflowing.

deAngel, I hope you can get in to see the Pulmonary doctor quickly as it sounds like you would benefit from oxygen.

June, it seems that looters are always around to take advantage of other's disasters.  Your weather certainly heated up yesterday.  Good to stay in where it is cool as the heat can really sap one's energy but now read that you were able to enjoy some time outside.

Jane, I can imagine your relief when your get the word periodically that your family in Houston is still OK.
Do you do your crossword puzzle in ink?

JaneS

Actually, the puzzle that I do daily is on line and like you, I get a black letter if I'm right and a red one if I'm wrong.  If I do the puzzles in the newspaper, I DO do them in ink.  I've been doing them ever since I was a kid and my grandmother used to back off once in a while and let me get to the puzzle first.  I thought I was just beating her there until I was much older and she admitted to letting me win sometimes.  I think that's why I'm such a puzzle addict now.  She'd be proud of me.

I managed to get all the minor jobs done that I wanted to do today and now I'm just going to relax until it's time to get ready for work.

I hope you all have a lovely day!

Good Morning Everyone!

Nice day here and so far cool, but things are forecast to heat up as the week goes on.

Larry, we have several thousand here from the Houston area.  Governor just announced a few minutes ago that our county was granted public disaster status which makes our county/city government can get some aid in housing/feeding these folks.  I just hope we don't get some like those that came from New Orleans, some of them caused real problems.

The real clean up will be quite a job.  Also governor announced that we now have 14000 Texas guards (all in the state) and another 10000 are coming in from other states.  And about 2000 state troopers are working in the area, that is almost the total trooper force and two or three  temporary communications center are being positioned in the area to provide communications for all the agencies.  It appears Governor Abbott is on top of things and got our government in gear and President Trump has spared nothing to the state to assist in all areas of the disaster.

Hope everyone has a great day.

June Drabek

I am late coming in...sorry about that. I did keep myself more busy today.Went down for Bible Study at 10 a.m. then joined my group for lunch at noon, then read and napped, another trip down for mail and a walk around the garden, now it is time to whip up a light supper.

Larry, you do take good care of your teeth, I brush and floss regularly, but no longer go in for cleanings or any other work. It wears me out too much.

Hal, I hope this group of displaced folks will behave properly. I think they must go a little crazy at first when they have lost everything they had.

Janie, I hope your stint at WM went well for you. Is it a slower or busier group that come in in the late afternoon shift ?

We had another hot day..92 degrees and it is expected to be hot through the week end. I remember the years when my kids would start back to school, it seemed like there was always and hot raise in the weather.

time to go eat....hope to be in later to say goodnight.
