Good evening, EVERYFRIND,

I ðŸ'—'d reading ALL the comments you all have shared in here today.  As stated, we all have a love for each other or we would not be here, and on an overall I think we do a good job of letting everyone have their own opinions rather we agree or not.  Thank goodness we still have that right....we'll, here in the SS anyway! 😍

I have delayed posting as I have been watching MY Broncos.  Our rookie quarterback played the whole game and he did a fantastic job.  I do hope this is not the last time I will see him playing in a Bronco Jersey!  Broncos win 30 to 2 over the Arizona Cardinals.

LARRY, you are right, we ARE going to feel like empty nesters again after Brian, Cathy and the Doodle move to their new home. I have to say that their time here has gone very well and we both have enjoyed having them here.

Looks like you might be the last poster tonight, LLOYD, so I guess I will go ahead and turn off the lights.....

Pleasant dreams to all.

And since it's still early, I'll just put one light on over here on the table.  I'm just going to sit quietly and have my first cup of coffee while we wait out Annie's pill time.  I wonder if there are any cookies in the Hidey Hole?  Join me and we'll find out together.

Ill be off to Wally World this morning so wish me smiles!

I hope you all have a special day filled with whatever you want!

Good Morning everyone.

Good morning everyone, all the local news this morning is about schools and how little parents particpate and teachers overworked. Got down to the mid 40's last night, nice and sunny now so should warm up to low 70's the weather guesser says. What is now Irma was a Nor'easter when it went by us during the night, I just hope at it's end it is not like Harvey.

LARRY  on local weather they said we had only 9 days of 90+ days this summer but only 1 heatwave. I remember some September days that were warmer than August.

SANDY  you said it all yesterday. We were better without all this instant news on TV. I think the media has a lot to do with people panicking or becoming copy cat killers. I would like to be in a different place but life did not go the way I would have liked it to.

CALLIE  I have not given up yet, I am still fighting to enjoy what life I have.

JANE  I have 1 son who cannot seem to grasp that I no longer can do everything I used to do.

JOY  you are right, we all deal differently. I tend to be very quiet when things bother me too much. I take time to think things through.

HAL  I thought I was onew of your friends, too, but  now see I am not, Boo Hoo ;(

LLOYD  my son bought something to extract the honey but I do not know what it is. I do know that was the best honey I ever had. Good luck with yours.

Good morning everyone.
Gloria, you certainly are my friend but yesterday    Some of the other ladies were being a little hard on themselves and I wanted to remind them that you all are special to us all.

Nice morning here.  Wife just took our dog in for grooming and a. shot.

June I was happy to see your post, hope today finds you all bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Gloria, I have one son that wants me to still be able to hold up my end of the barn ....... and think it has to do with his head telling him I am getting older, time shorter and him not wanting to believe.  No matter where we are in life, it isn't want we expected, is it?  Can't you just picture all of us that loved camping, trying to hunker down in a campground .... the hoots & hollers as each needs to visit the "outhouse" (time after time).... :2funny:   Probably not a lot of sleeping but what fun we'd have cooking breakfast, huh?

Happy Sept oneth to you, too, Callie.  This starts the birthday season for my clan.  Waiting for the 7th great gr-daughter to appear & already have a brother, sister-in-law, niece & gr-daughter, plus the new kid... the first 8 days of this month.  So many birthdays in Nov I don't even have a count, that's bad.  I have a good friend whose daughter & husband both went to the same school in KC  My friend moved so don't know where the kids are practicing.  Good school from what I hear.  Best wishes to your grand.

Lloyd, the allergy doctor here recommended using LOCAL honey to help, a little each day & the body gets used to whatever grows and causes allergies in a particular area.  Those bees like to move around, don't they?  When I was visiting my folks in Sedalia years ago the whole neighborhood was focused on a tree where a swarm had settled, huge swarm.  Didn't take long for a beekeeper to come gather them up.  Big money in local honey sales.

Joy, enjoy the vacation, no doubt everyone will be thrilled to see you.  The church I go to has the parish picnic on Labor Day so it is all fun & no work for me.  The down side is weather guessers say it will be the hottest day in quite a while.. but cooler that night!

Not sure where Tom had breakfast but he lay outside the door & just looked at me when I called them in.  Tiger came in & ate, no sign of Mama Callie.  I turned on the sprinklers in the front yard, turned on the pool pump so I can vac this evening.  Need to go bring the dumpster back up to the garage & am seriously thinking a nap would feel good.  Hope everyone has a Fantastic Friday!

Good morning, Hal, wish she'd take these 3 cats for new flea/tick treatment, I'm having trouble getting them to hold still to squeeze that stuff on their shoulders & they are scratching like crazy.  Don't know if it works for "oak mites", that's what the news media said was causing the problems last year.... What I thought was bites last week turned out to be itchy grass, no spots & all gone in the morning.  Such a lot of trouble to get these cats in one by one, not sure I can even carry Tom in the cage.  Can't put a leash on them like a dog, we tried everything with LaurenKat but never found one she couldn't slip out of.

larryhanna

Hi everyone. The day began with some sunshine but we do have an 80% chance of some rain this afternoon.  We did get a brief shower yesterday afternoon after having severe thunderstorm warning for our area during the afternoon.  It is to be in the low 80's again today.

We went out to breakfast this morning, something we haven't done in a long time.  She had a birthday card for her sister  which we took to the post office as it needed additional postage. After breakfast we stopped at the place that has supplies for the CPAP machines as she needed some new supplies. Then we   stopped at Aldi's for a few items.  The groceries have been put away.  Needless to say we feel like we have done a full days worth of work. There is nothing else on the schedule for today.  Last evening I watched the first half of the Indiana/Ohio State football game as the college football season got underway with just a few games.  The golf tournament didn't start on the normal Thursday but will start today and continue through Monday.

I am going to pass on making any individual comments here today.  I have read all of the postings since I posted yesterday and don't think I can add anything useful so will just say see you tomorrow in the Soda Shoppe.

June Drabek

This is Sept. 1, 2017, correct ?? My soda shoppe reads Aug 1. And it was all screwed up last night. I had to "restart" this morning and finally got here with you all. When I first came in it was back to LLoyds squash and the beautiful crocheted table cloth. Mercy, Lord, I am too old for this.

Having some more shortness of breath today, but that may be my new style of living now. I do not want to join the crowd on oxygen machines, and they seem to be legion here. My many years of smoking cigarettes, are coming home to haunt me. I started smoking in my early teens..both parents smoked, plus my older brother, plus almost everyone else it seems.

Tisie, My sixth great grand has her 2nd Birthday this month. Ashley June is her name.
We too are in the midst of hot weather, and my conditioner is alreay working away at 9a.m.

Hal, I feel my bright eyed- bushy tailed days are a thing of the past. The mind is willing to get out there and shake and strut, but the body rejects the thought. I'm still sitting here in my p.j.s. Housekeeper has been in and changed my bed and she will be back to clean the bathroom later. They have a pattern of work all laid out, and it work well for them.

Time to go slip into a muumuu for the day. A cool garment, but acceptable in mixed company. The hawaiians were wise, even the men wore skirts.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Shirley I suppose if i was to sell it and other things would not be so $$ poor.
but when I have moor than we need in this house hold I enjoy giving it to friends and kin and neighbors swells my heart better. I have some more frames to swipe from them and they will have plenty more for winter. I found another super to put on and let them work on filling it. they still have more time. Have a great day,

JUst making a fast pass in here.  Really a Fall day, I was so cold when I woke up, with all the windows open.

I just got home from the hospital,, been there again for a few days.  Was sent to the ER, with low oxygen count 73, I thought i would be there for a couple of hours, then I went into atrial Fib. so was admitted.  June I have come home to oxygen in the house. did not expect that, but I do not use it all the time.

Gloria de, my dear sweet friend, I think that you and I are paddling the same canoe, as far as our health is concerned. I am noticing more and more of this shortness of breath, we both have the artery problem in our legs, and I get the feeling frequently that I may pass out, and I end up panting to make the feeling go away. And so we accept what it happening and keep on keeping on, and thanking God for each day we wake up to. I am fighting the need for an oxygen machine, but i may be just kidding myself. I would like to reach my 93rd. Birthday in late Nov. but I realize every day is a bonus, and I am thankful. So hang in there my buddy. I love you very much.

janie, I pray you will have a very peaceful and restful sleep tonight. God knows how tired you are, and I am confident He will be watching over you through out the night. Can you start thinking about permanent retirement soon?

I just finished a good supper of salad and salmon, left-over from the huge lunch I had sent up to my apt. I am finding it much more peaceful to have meals sent up to my apt., even though it costs me. It is worth it to me.

I am weary so will make it an early night. Hoping and praying our Bis will surprise us with a post soon. She looked so well in the latest picture with Finlay.

Gloria de...I wear a nitro patch. The nurse puts it on at six a.m. and I take it off when I get ready for bed at night.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I was in bed before 9:30 last night and I slept until almost 6 this morning.  And I only woke up once during the night and was able to go right back to sleep.  The doggies have been out and we're waiting out Annie's pill.  I must feel rested because I've been thinking I might make some eggs for breakfast.  I think I have some sausage in the freezer and that would taste good.

JUNE, retirement is not in the near future.  I remember laughing 20 years ago when I bought this house and they gave me a thirty year mortgage.  I told someone, "Ill be 92 when my house is paid for.  And basically, my WM pay pays the mortgage.  I'm thinking that when I get the balance to the point where it matches my savings, I might think about retiring.  So there's HOPE!

I checked the temp on the way to the door to let the doggies out and I almost jumped out of my skin!  It said 43º!  Fall, I'll take but I'm sure not ready for winter!  If I were younger, I'd consider transferring to a store farther south and moving for the winter.  Dallas comes to mind,  My daughter would take me in for the winter.  But at this age, I don't think I want to pack up and move for 6 months and then have to do it all over again in another 6 months.

Oh well, that's all in God's hands and I'm not going to worry about it.  I'm a 1/3 owner of a snow blower and there's someone who will operate it in my driveway.  Otherwise, if it snows, I don't go!

Enjoy your day Everyfriend and ignore the ravings of this old lady!  I have to have somewhere to let off steam and "tag!  You're it!"

Good morning everyone, coldest one this season, 42° now where I live. Of course the "official" temperature comes from the airport in Warwick-no it is not in Providence-and that is close to the ocean. Sure felt cold when I got out of bed, grabbed my winter robe and it feels good. I turned on the TV to a black screen on all channels. Once again Cox is "temporarily off the air". Their rates keep climbing and the service gets worse. grrr. We have rain in the forecast for Sunday and Labor day is iffy, thanks to Harvey.

HAL  ok I will overlook it this time. You made me feel I was invizable.  :'(  Hope you know I was kidding you yesterday. Now was it a nice morning yesterday because your wife took the dog to the groomers and for a shot and you did not have to do that job? or because your house was quiet?

SHIRLEY  oh WOW if we were all together at a campground I can just picture it. We sure would have fun in line at the outhouse and some might have to head into the woods. Those who live in cities and never ventured out into a real country setting would be scared of every kind of noise at night. Good time for ghost stories. Breakfast-everyone trying to get to the campfire or camp stove to cook their speciality? My daughter worked at the school her husband went to and her 2 sons went there, too. Less than a mile from where they lived.

LLOYD  do you chew on a piece of the honeycomb? I did that once at my son's and it was so good.

GLORIA de  like you my windows open and this morning  I was wishing I could turn on the heat. Will be another month before that is turned on here. Make sure you use that oxygen when you need it.

JUNE  there are a few in this building with oxygen and it does not keep them in their apartments.

JANE  I did not work yesterday like you but I was in bed a little after 9 last night and that is early for me. The last winter before I retired if it was snowing hard when I woke I stayed home from work. If it started during the day and started piling up fast I went home. Wanted to get home before rush hour traffic. Boss did not say anything either, I went to the office and they OK'd it so he could not get angry with me. Glad I no longer have to be on the roads or go out when it snows. I will bundle up and go out on the porch for a bit, I still like winter and snow as long as I do not have to be anywhere but home now.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well Janie, our weather guesser on the local TV says we have real honest to goodness cold front on the way and it will be here the middle of next week. He hasn't "revealed" his predictions for temps but "teasingly" says they will put a dent in summer temps.  Oh, and from the look of it, you will get a big dip in temps.  All in the East.

Not much on tap here today.  Will watch some college football and that is about it.  Our gas shortage continues, everyone, it looks like, thinks they have to have a full tank of gas and continue to line up for blocks on end to get gas if they find out a station has any.  The gas distributors cant keep up so we have lots of stations that are dry.  And with the Labor day weekend and folks wanting to get out of town, well it is a mess.  My wife went to store last night and said while she was shopping and when she came out they had run out of gas.  The "officials" promise by Monday everything will be back to normal and the pipelines will be back in operation.  Corpus Christi, which is just down the road  (150 miles) and Three Rivers (just 40 miles or so) refineries are all in operation so there is no shortage, except in distribution system.  Houston and Beaumont are also big refinery centers so we are going to feel a pinch if they don't or cant get them on line soon.  But surprisingly, to me, Houston is coming back to life fairly quick.  Beaumont, the water is still rising from the river there.  But Beaumont, like Houston, is swamp country.   Do you see where one guy returned to his home to find an 8 foot alligator in his living room.  Welcome home...... :o

Holy smokes, do you know what I did.  I forgot to put the coffee on....got to go do that.  C U Later

Amy

Good morning everyone.

I thought I had posted yesterday but :idiot2:  I hit the floor running yesterday and today as i slept in both days. I even snuck in a cat nap yesterday too!!!

I was to look after the neighbours dog but..the dog met up with a skunk  and the neighbour had a full day of it bathing poor Rex.  When I talked to the neighbour he said he didn't tell me the full story, seems Rex went after the skunk, chasing him into a portable garage and the skunk perfumed that too!!! I know when I let our dogs out around 11 pm that night I could smell skunk but watched them so they wouldn't met up with the perfume puddycat.

Today is laundry, nice sunny day to dry on the line. Yesterday we had a fire on and today we had frost early this morning, guess fall is wanting to push what summer we had away.

Being a long weekend here I think we shall just stay put and off the roads. Need to bring a load of fire wood in and fill the wood box.

I would love to go camping, what fun we had enjoying the outdoors as kids. Dad would send all the kids out to catch fish and we were to bring back anything over a certain size, he would clean them and we would have a fish fry around the camp fire.  Question??? Wold be get any sleep???? Love the sound and smell of a campfire.

Better get the laundry out on the line.

Enjoy your day everyone....

Oh Jane had one jar II thought didn't seal ,put it in the fridge and had it for supper.....funny thing is, it did seal ..but I was so curious on how they would taste and oh my sure beats the stuff in cans!!!

Gloria yes I do. I scrape the comb all of of some of the frames into a cuender and mash it an get all the honey to drip in to a pan sometimes but that is too much work. Bob has a frame spinner. you take t long sharp knife and cut the caps off and spin the honey out is the best way, also is not so much work for the bees to re fill. I have quite bit of bee's wax from the two frames i scraped/ I chew the honey that did not drip out and I will melt it down and save it in a block so can use it in my wood work, slicking up drawer slides and such. Have a great day.

Amy I do not know about dogs but humans can take a bath with lot of vinegar in the water takes care of the smell.

Amy

Lloyd, you are a clever fellow, what about using a power drill to spill the frame??? Can you come up with an idea for that? Just a though..

Hi everyone. It looks like we are going to have a sunny day with the high in the upper 80's this afternoon.  I am looking forward to a pleasant day.  My morning kitchen chores have been completed and  plan on attending a meeting this morning and then spending the remainder of the day resting and watching college football and perhaps a little of the golf match.

June, you seem to be having a lot of the shortness of breath and know that is not pleasant and leaves one very tired. I have never smoked but sure grew up around people who did and in the offices years ago before that became forbidden.  I am really glad that people can no longer smoke in restaurants as it makes dining so much more enjoyable.  Glad you order your meal to eat in when you don't feel up to going to the dining room. I also look at every day as a bonus and am grateful to have been given it.

Lloyd, I don't think we ever regret helping others and giving them things.  You are a very generous person and obviously have avery kind heart.  I feel proud to call you my friend.  That sure sounds like sticky work with the honey.

deAngel, they are soon going to know you by name at the hospital.  Glad you got the help you needed and hope the oxygen helps you feel better.  It sounds like your beaches are going to be a bit chilly. Hope you don't get an over abundance of rain from Harvey.

Jane, there is no way we will ever have this house fully paid for.  The one we left was paid for but decided we could handle a mortgage.  It is unlikely Pat will be able to stay here very long when I am gone although one never knows.  You are getting close to having your home paid for and I know that is a good feeling and have a nice equity built up.  Wow, 43 degrees is really chilly and just a few days ago it was so hot.  I am with you in not desiring to have to move things every six months.  You have the right attitude in knowing things will work out and there is no benefit gained by worrying about something that may never happen.

Gloria, you are a degree colder this morning that Jane. It sounds like you got your fresh air with your windows open during the night. I can just picture in my mind you and Jane and Shirley (and others of our group) around a camp fire.  I try to go to bed every night around nine and usually am ready to go to sleep around 10.

Hal, good news that the pipelines will be back in operation on Monday.  I haven't seen any lines at gas stations here but the prices have certainly increased.  I sure wouldn't be pleasant to find an alligator in your living room.  I have wondered about snakes as well.

Amy, not pleasant to have a pet meet up with a skunk.  This will be a good weekend to just stay close to home.

JaneS

Thanks, LARRY for understanding those ravings.  I do try to take things as they come.

AMY, I was getting ready to email you to see if all was well in your neck of the woods.  Then you posted.  See, somebody notices!

It has turned into afternoon here in Ca.. It was still morning when I started reading your messages. I really and truly love all of you...my cyber family...I feel so very close to each and every one of you. Your lives and mine are so closely linked. We may never see one another...till we get to Heaven...but we will be friends and recognize each other though we have never met here on earth. That's pretty exciting when i think about it. God will have to be patient with us "brats" of His till we finally settle down to His style of living and loving.

All is going well out here. I am waiting for my grocery delivery, and will eat lunch from my pantry which is still well stocked. There are hints of light rain for tomorrow.....I am hoping it will happen...we do have a variety of clouds today which is a lovely welcome change. Time to go "chow down", be back later. I love you family.

Sooners vs. UTEP this afternoon.

Amy

Another lovely day, laundry blew out on the line and I did manage to get a few things that were nagging me done!

Jane, time has a way of getting away on me lately. I am trying to get the outside jobs done before winter too. I must admit I am toying with the idea of getting more peaches to do down.

Gloria, I can't  wait till the apples come in, fresh apples pies will be put together.

Larry our other Border collie got sprayed good and I tried to bath her and get her clean before hubby and I went to work. While picking up supplies at the lumber yard the fellas said .hmm someone must have hit a skunk out on the road. Well, hubby and I just looked at each other because we knew where the smell was coming from.

June , you amaze me with all you do.

Joy, love seeing your posts.

Shirley, are you off camping???

Lloyd, sent you an email, I did find out how to make an extractor and use a drill to do it .

Going to hit the bed early, maybe I can get up on time tomorrow..

Enjoy your evening everyone..

Callie, you betcha.  I am starting out in the hole though.  Texas took it on the chin today with Maryland (my old Alma Mater) beating them.  And your bunch from Norman stomping UTEP, last I saw it wasn't even a contest.  Score was something like 51 to 7, I switched over to the news, which was not much better.

So here is your first Yankee dime.  :-*  for the UTEP lost to OU.
