Merry Monday,

#2 granddaughter, Miss EMily (not Miss ELlen  ;) ) is on her way to Kansas City to begin studies at Cleveland Chiropractic College.
She's driving alone and I'd appreciate a prayer or two for her safe trip - much farther up I-35 than she used to drive to college in Stillwater.

Other than that - pretty much the same old Monday around my house.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Lovely Labor Day.

June Drabek

Janie, I hope you were able to grab a little snooze before you had the luncheon date. Hard to be good company when you are over-tired. I take a Lorazapam at nine o'clock and some time during the night I get to the bathroom and back to bed, but I think I do it in my sleep.

Gloria, my A/C has a heat setting too, and the whole thing works very well. I had central A/C when I lived in Hemet, so this took some getting used to the operation. I have great maintenance people but they are so busy, that sometimes there is a wait. Some days we have 80 percent humidity..I think today is supposed to be 68, but my head is already feeling damp.

Hal, your wife is very fortunate to have a computer man living under the same roof.  My son will be coming over this week to have something Notarized. We have a Notary living on the property, which is handy.

Callie, my prayer has been requested to God for Miss Emily's safe journey. I admire her for studying Chiropractic.  It is a needy doctoring for sure. People are living longer and bodies need more loving care.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

Prayers for Miss Emily!  She's almost into MY territory now.

Lunch was nice but we didn't go to THE FENCE.  They are on their Fall hours and do not open until 4:30 on weekdays so we went to another local restaurant.  They serve breakfast all day and Cathy and Craig both had breakfast.  I had a major salad.  I don't think I eat enough salads so when I have a chance, I eat one in a restaurant.  We all brought home a piece of pie for later.  Mine is coconut custard.  All the goodies are baked on the premises and everything is homemade goooood!

JUNE, I didn't get a nap before I went.  I changed the bed, washed the sheets and then did two more loads of wash.  I was just putting another one in when I got Cathy's text that they were on the way.  Maybe the lack of a nap will mean I'll get more sleep tonight.

Cathy and Craig are doing hamburgers on the grill with mac and cheese.  I'm invited but don't know if I'll go.  I left my option open!  It would just be the 3 of us and I always enjoy that.

Back to the laundry!  Enjoy your day!

Janie, I had my nap, and woke, and read some more. Now contemplating lunch. Asking myself, do I want to wander down for lunch, or eat at home again ? I think home will win out. I ordered hot dogs and potato salad, and Macaroni salad..lot of juices, a fresh loaf of sour dough bread in my last grocery order, so I should start using those items. I will miss some chopped lettuce, but a head of lettuce doesn't keep well, so I didn't buy any. I have plenty of cans of green beans, so they can take the place of lettuce, I guess.

My desk is a mess of unanswered snail mail, notes of this and that..reminders that I look at and forget about. I have a LAZY mind for sure.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good afternoon, a beautiful for the end of Labor day, I hear the roads are jammed with folks heading back to the city.
Gloria, I had another one of my senior moments, and posted to you in another forum. Nothing importants, just saying that I am sure you also are having a beautiful day. Linda my DIL on the Cape said she would come down if I needed her.   There is nothing she can do.  I do not like to take a bath anymore with no one in the house, so my ask a neighbor to come in for a short while.

Oh boy we are having a dandy storm, won't be here long as I had better shut it down soon. Just hope my buns o bread get baked before power decides to go out.
Managed to get most of what I wanted to do done, even muttered over trying to fill the weed trimmer with line.

Callie most definitely prayers heading Miss Emily's way... I do know what it is to worry about those on the roads.

Jane ,hope you enjoyed your time with your family today..

Better go...rumblings heading this way.

Amy, funny about that storm - we were threatened with a storm today but had none.  Radar now shows storm from St Louis MO, through Indianapolis, Detroit and up into your area.  We had a few sprinkles earlier today, and I do mean "a few".  We do need rain but seem not to being getting it.  Otherwise, it's been a quiet day.

Amy yes I did and thanks; I may have built one but my friend has one
( factory built) we do together when we have at least 10 frames each to do.
and yes Gloria mostly not today.

JaneS

I'm home and I had a good supper and a good visit.  We are never at a loss for something to talk about.  Now I'm going to get in my jammies and fold the last load of laundry and then get to bed early.

I hope you all rested, relaxed and enjoyed your day.  And I hope you have a peaceful and restful night.  May God bless us, every one!

Miss Emily made it to Overland Park!!!

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

June Drabek

It has been very cloudy all day today, but not a drop of rain..boo hoo..I'll keep hoping though. I got tired of  looking at four wall, so put on my shoes and spent about two hours wandering around our compound, chatting with neighbors, reading, using the glider and more strolling.  Loved every minute of it. I may go out again before bed time.

I have a lot of business to take care of tomorrow on my calendar. Hope I can get it all straightened out early in the day. I really dislike having to leave things to  the last minute to straighten out, but this was not my fault. Our Administrative offices were closed the day.

Time to think about some supper. Wish I had an appetite..maybe I need another walk ??

Janie, I am so happy you had a good day. Enjoy you sleep tonight. I know God is watching over you.

Denver

A good Labor Day evening to all.  I have not been in for a couple of days.  No excuse other than we have been on the go and I have not been on line as much as I normally am.

We spent two visits with the grandchildren and that is always fun for us.  Saturday night we sat in their back yard and watched a movie on their huge outdoor screen.  It was quite enjoyable and the kiddos loved it.  Today we got together for a nice brunch and played a outdoor game.  It is hard to believe that Labor Day is over.  This whole summer has just passed so quickly! I am NOT in anyway ready for snow!

Tomorrow our son and DIL will close on their new home.  They are most excited and just hope it will go smoothly and they can finally get started on their move.

Mark, our golfer has just finished his final session at the PGA Village in south Florida.  He did extremely well and came out with top honors.  He will fly to Los Angeles tomorrow for a interview at a very nice course that he sure hopes will be his next job.

Our Boston Family just got back from Cape Cod where they enjoyed the last hurrah before school starts tomorrow for the two grand sons.  We were to join them on this nice vacation, but it was just not good timing for us and the air fares were just out of sight.  We hope to go to see them later this month or in October for sure.

Dr. Dave has to go to Jacksonville for work on Wednesday and is sure hoping Irma, the hurricane will not hit there and strand him there.

Pleasant dreams to you all.

Callie, I did Google the school & see it is basically "on my route" as I go through to MO... easy drive for her since it's on the SW side as you go into KC.  Glad she made it okay, think a wise choice of careers.

I came in to fall asleep on the end of the bed until time for cats "midnight snack" about 10:00 pm. Got a phone call from my youngest son & we talked about an hour.  He is going to come over on Sat to cut the brush back down on the river... he enjoys that & I'm thrilled to get it usable again.  I pay well, too, insist I won't let them help if they refuse pay.  They don't want or need the money but want to do things for me so they tell me what nifty things they get for helping.  I explained to them that "if they didn't take the money & pick what they really wanted, I'd get them things the didn't want & such a waste~~"

Went to the church picnic this evening, was still in the 90s but nice breeze & wide open spaces so not too bad.  Oldest gr-son's wife & 2 girls have a "bug" & couldn't come so "Uncle Andy & Aunt Pam" took a care package to them.... with get well wishes from Father Dan.  The church started 10 years ago, don't know how many thousands are members, but from the start I told Father Dan that "this is the happiest church I've ever gone to in my whole life".

June, I ate enough for both of us.... busy visiting with interesting people around the table & I got a huge hamburger down plus a hotdog without bun, baked beans, pack of chips, Coke & polished off with 3 different types of home made cookies.  Yummmmm

And now my big news.... the new baby girl (Ellie) arrived yesterday, almost 7 lbs... all's well.  Grammy is already in Seattle to help out (direct flight from St.Louis) so getting updates & photos all along.  Big brother, Cole, (2) went to visit today but I don't have the photo resized yet.  Today is the mother's birthday so a busy week in Seattle.

Good night, Jenny... I'll trade you "pushing 100 degrees today" for snow.... please~~  sounds like all's well with your clan.  Did you ever believe life would be so busy at this age?

Had my last phone call for the night... time to feed cats & finally get to bed.  Cold front to come through tonight & drop temps to 77 tomorrow, I will hit the floor running (NOT) ... good thought.  Sweet dreams to all.  God Bless.  Shirley

JaneS

We're up and Annie had her pill.  Now we wait!  I'll be off to work at 9, my cleaning dynamo comes at noon and she'll be half finished by the time I get home at 1.  It's so nice to live in a clean house that I didn't have to do!

JENNY, I hope your snow doesn't come too soon.  Watching a movie in the back yard sounds like fun.  I don't think I've ever done that.

SHIRLEY, whenever I try to pay Cathy for anything she does for me, she absolutely refuses.  I do find ways to compensate her.  She picked up some of the yogurt that I use at the Amish Store and she refused to take the money for it.  So when my neighbor brought me some of the bounty from her garden, I took her 3 nice tomatoes.  Last week it was a jar of my home canned red beets which I know she loves.

I'm going to try to finish my crossword puzzle before the timer goes off to feed the doggies.  I wish you all a lovely day filled with whatever you wish for.

Hi everyone. We are to have a mostly or partly cloudy day all day today but still getting up to around 90 degrees this afternoon.  I expect to spend most of today working on Pat's laptop.  I have run into no snag yet and don't anticipate any but it just takes time to deal with the little details of loading and setting up various programs and games that she likes.  I had a good but busy day yesterday.  Our son needed a new bed and we decided that would make a good early Birthday and Christmas present so yesterday I went with him and he selected the one he wanted.  I did enjoy the final day of the golf tournament yesterday afternoon.  It was another good ending with the lead changing hands several times close to the end.

Hal, nice to see you are having some nicer weather down your way.  We are still have hot afternoon and this morning is extremely humid.

Callie, glad to see the trip to KC went well for Emily.

Jane, I often will get a salad when we eat out and sometimes a chef salad as the full meal.  It has been ages since I had a piece of coconut pie and certainly not homemade

June, I just don't do any snail mail except for a card or an occasional bill payment.

Amy, glad you got the bread/buns baked without losing power yesterday.

Jenny, so nice to see you all having such wonderful family time and enjoying those grandchildren so much.  I haven't heard of a huge outdoor screen before. When I was growing up our little town used to do a Saturday night moving with a reel to reel type projector showing it on a sheet hung up on a building.  We thought it was great and that was when people went to town on Saturday night to shop and visit.  Hope the home closing goes well today for your son and DIL.  Congratulations to Mark.  Hope he gets the job in Los Angeles if that is what he wants.

Shirley, we made that drive up I-35 numerous times when we lived in Oklahoma and drove the Kansas Turnpike. It sounds like you attend a very large Church and nice to see it is a happy Church. Congratulations on the new baby in your family.  How many great grandchildren do you now have?

Jane, nice to see you are so enjoying having the housekeeper do all of that hard work for you.

Lloyd, little fish are better than no fish caught.  Glad Nancy is home to be there with you.

Good Morning Everyone!

I see nearly everyone has beat me in this morning with all the latest news.  It is interesting to see what is going on around the country and in some cases the world.

As usual some of you made me hungry talking about the good foods you enjoyed.  Wife fixed a nice supper last night, baked ham, baked potatoes with all the fixings and I nuked some corn on the cob, first we had this year, but my new tooth allowed me to eat it again.  Otherwise before the new tooth I took a chance on breaking off one of my front teeth..

Yesterdays golf was good and looking at the scores and prize money this morning in the paper it was a good payday for the top finishers, even second place got almost a million.  Jenny maybe you son should go on the tour.  If you made the cut and finished it was 15 thousand.  Not bad wages for a weeks work.

I am about fed up with pro football, some of the players have a chip on their shoulders and it seems their ranks are full of thugs and women beaters.  And the owners all just think of the dollars and forget the conduct of their players.

Well, I hope everyone has a great day.

Mary Ann

Hal, maybe that's why I have taken to watching the golf matches.  The golfers aren't perfect, but they're more clean-cut.  I hadn't seen how much money anyone made, but I knew it would be in the millions.

Radar looks like Houston may get more rain, but nothing torrential like the hurricane.  Now south Florida is in for something.

Mary Ann

June Drabek

I'm going down for lunch soon....doing the big dining room today as I feeling adventuresome. <G>went down for our monthly Residents meeting. It was crowded and interesting.

I'm still having a battle with Jacquie Lawson cards. Finally told them I was too old to follow their instructions on getting on line, it is their business and they should do the connecting. Makes sense to me. There are other on line card companies so I can look into those if necessary. I am getting to be an old crab as I age.

I have one more program I am committed to attend today..the dining room meeting..so I will do that and then come home and relax till tomorrows  essential duties.  A program with our notary public and my son. I don't know what it is all about, but eager to find out.  time to go dine......see y'all later./
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Jane, I have no doubt Cathy appreciates the special things you do for her much more than the money I give the boys..... At first I did give & buy and gave up & went to the $$$.  To be honest, there was so much to do after Cas died, mainly because he felt too bad to do the jobs for at least a year before and could not handle watching or hearing someone else do things HE could do better, so the boys were helping a lot, especially Andy, since he just retired.  We have good kids and want them to know we appreciate their caring, right?

Larry, this make #7 great grand & have 7 grands, the oldest 3 provided the greats & youngest 4 not married so...........My parents had 5 kids, 23 grands & we quit counting when the greats came along~~

I just woke up from a good nap, oops, forgot to turn the AC back on & it warmed up!  Off to take care of that, feed cats & do the jobs that didn't get done.

June, maybe the cards are not working because of updates.... all of sudden I can't get my Fitbit information on my computer but it is working on my wrist & on the phone.  Problem is, it won't give me sleep stats & that is why I wear it.  I know it will take a patient tech person to help me fix it since I don't understand the terms when they explain, so they have to go to MY limited ability & describe "the upper right corner" or more simple terms.  Been putting off calling since last week because I dread the time it takes & know I will have to have a rested brain to cope.

Good Evening Everyone,  from the still
cool rocky coast of Maine.

I see that there is yet another really bad hurricane,
name IRMA  that is headed for the South East  and
should start causing problems by this weekend...

It is already a Cat 5 storm and looks to
be very well put together.    It reminds me of
the way  Andrew looked back  1992...

Very scarey and I hope that everyone in the South
is preparing for what might come.

Best wishes to all.

I had very good new this week.   I passed
my Mammogram....  no issues to talk about.
I am very very lucky.

Thurs I have a Dr.s Appointment to have my
eye checked.    I do have Cataracts so in the
next few  years or sooner I will have to have
that taken care of.      It really scares me  as
I only have vision now in one eye.

Hopefully all will go well.

Have a good evening everyone!

Denver

Good evening.

I have been sitting on pins and needles all day...... but happily I can report everything went well.  The house closing went picture perfect for Brian and Cathy and Mark said his interview was nearly two hours long and he felt great about how it went.  He is very hopeful he will be getting an offer of the job.  Tomorrow we get to go see Brian's home on the inside for the first time.  I am very excited.

The air was much better here today as we had some winds over night.  I feel so bad for those that have compromised breathing issues.  There is more smoke headed this way though, as the fire continue to burn.  One here in Colorado that is sending us quite a bit as well.

SHIRLEY, we only had a high of 71* today....it really felt delightful!  Maybe that will give you some relief tomorrow!  Congratulations to you and the family on the birth of Ellie.

LARRY, how nice that you were able to buy a new mattress for Scott.  It sure makes us feel good to be able to buy something that is needed.

My eyes keep wanting to shut, so think I will say goodnight to all.

I am turning off the lights, so I hope you all have a good night of rest and pleasant dreams.

Good Morning Everyfriend and a special Good Morning to you LLOYD if you're still around.  I was in the kitchen waiting for the coffee pot to finish but I'm here now.

I'm happy to report that I slept very well last night.  I was not up even once during the night and I remember shifting position just once and going right back to sleep.  I feel ready to take on the world today.

We still have the rain and the temps in the low 70s.  It feels more line Spring than Fall today.  I think part of my good spirits are due to getting the bills paid.  That's always a good feeling.  And today, I take my list and replenish all the household paper goods.  Everything is either out or on the verge of going out.  For instance, there's ONE coffee filtter left!  I don't think I've ever been out of those, even when I had a coffee pot that didn't use filters.

And that reminds me, the coffee is done.  Anyone want a cup?

Good morning everyone.

Vet gave Babe a shot of steroids, plus pills twice a day and a cream to put on her foot after bathing it in salt water.

Today is a make up day on things I didn't get done on other days.

Going to make this short and join Janie on the porch.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyone!

Janie, I will have a cup of that coffee.

Not too much planned here today.  JaneS comment on bills reminds me I have a couple to pay.  So will do that this morning.

Weather here is a little cooler.  But will get up to close to 90 today and we didn't get a drop of rain from our "cold" front. Grrrrr

Hope everyone has a good day.
