I'm embarrassed to admit that my governor made our state join the other republican governors in that stupid suit to overturn the pro-Biden state counts just in time for the Supreme court to throw the whole suit out for no legal cognizance! Our governor, who is fighting a recall count, is one of THOSE pro-Trumpers!

Now, this; In an unsigned order, the court rejected the case brought by Texas "for lack of standing." The court wrote: "Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections."

This is the second suit contesting the presidential election results that the Supreme Court has refused to hear. Earlier this week, the judges rejected an appeal from Pennsylvania Republicans to reverse Biden's victory there.

Notably, the only dissenters in the Texas case were Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas. None of the justices appointed by Trump — Amy Comey Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch — dissented in either case.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton brought the suit against the four states. Paxton argued that the states modified their election procedures to make it easier for citizens to vote during the Covid-19 pandemic by expanding early, absentee, and mail-in voting. According to Paxton, this made the election ripe for voter fraud. But, of course, no one has yet produced any evidence of such fraud.
Eighteen state attorneys general filed a brief in support of the suit, as did more than 100 House Republicans. Even Trump himself filed a motion to intervene in the case on Thursday, meaning he wanted to join the suit because his "rights are affected" by the outcome.

Now Repubs and their followers are calling for secession just like the past civil war. Only with far more dangerous consequences in this current world.

Electoral Collage has spoken: Biden will be the next President

From actor Hugh Grant on where he draws inspiration for his roles;

"I'm pretty good on narcissists, because there's plenty in my business," he quipped. "I've also spent a good deal of the last decade surprisingly close to politicians, and they rival anyone I know in show business for narcissism. I'm a great believer in whoever said, 'Politics is show business for the ugly.' That is absolutely true, [there is] extraordinary egomania going on there."

I look forward to a Biden Presidency and end to the 4 years of a lying slob we have had as president.

Here is hoping politics can return to normal if there is such a thing any more!

I agree! I've been so ashamed and still am of those in his party and his pocket!

Sandy, Your grand baby is beautiful!

2020 is gone. I saw it leave!

So here we have a new year 20212 and with it peace and joy.

New quiz today for all those looking for something to do in this topsy-turvy time.

Mango Mussolini has called for a rally on 6 Jan in WDC in support of his claim that the election was stolen. 6 Jan is when the electoral votes are counted by Pence. Articles are saying many groups are saying they will participate -and with guns. This may get real messy.

Even the conservative packed courts are saying this is illegal. I have no words.

"In the wake of Obama's re-election in 2012, Republican leaders began reassessing their situation and proposed a redirection, in which they would mute the hard-right posturing — but what had become the core of the Republican electorate, frustrated by decades of empty promises about uprooting godless liberalism, was in no mood for the new-found responsibility of politicians they came to regard as Republican in Name Only (RINO). Enter Trump, who not only commandeered the inflamed base but enlarged it to include men and women unreachable by pollsters, angry minds who had given up on politics completely.

With the connivance of supplicating Republicans caught off-guard by his ascendancy, pre-eminently Cruz and Lindsey Graham, Trump then molded a truly dangerous force, one that beheld Trump not simply as their president but as their George Washington (or maybe their Jefferson Davis), the father of their country. Unable to bully his way out of his defeat in November, a desperate Trump had nothing left to do but to unleash that force on the Capitol."

I continue to be horrified at the news coming out of WDC. The attack on the Capitol was worse then we first thought. Today the House votes on Impeachment of the monster Trump. Pence refused to invoke the 25th Amendment to oust him out NOW. How our Democracy can survive all this is surely being put to the test.

Just read: Deutch  (sp?) Bank dumps Trump and goes for his loans $380 million along with them-Mar-a-Lago and Trump Towers. Go get um!!

An Oregon lawmaker during a Trump supporter riot at the Oregon Capitol opened locked doors and let rioters in, including some who had been at the US Capitol. He's lost privileges so far, been denied access without 24 hours notice, and been billed for all damages so far. Amid calls for resignation, more charges will be filed. His big excuse is that nothing should be kept from the people...

Reports of What the rioters did at the WDC Capitol is more horrifying every day. I am so sad that this is happening in our America. Trump has made us a 3rd world country to be sure. I am relieved he is to be gone-leaves the morning of the 20th but want all the trappings of a FOND farewell-red carpet band  etc. What a crazy!

I wonder how much of White House property will leave with them stuffed into those bags and boxes?

19th! Our National nightmare almost over.

I wonder if this strong statement from Mich McConnell insures Trump gets the guilty indictment from the Senate. I hope so!!.

I am so over it that if I see a photo of any one of the Trumps, I get frustrated they're even spending print on them.

The far-right is already at it with Fox news saying President Biden was "erasing women" when he recognized that LGBTQ women have rights too. They also stated that it wasn't surprising about "the Dems at the Capitol dressed as Trump supporters." That a so-called public television show spouting such dangerous lies when so many ignorant people watch is really dangerous. I understand furtive groups on fringe public media, but on a television show without being censored or rebuked somehow?

The few insurrectionists are all upset that they're even being arrested, even with most charged with misdemeanors. I also learned that the woman Trump supporter died from her injuries after being trampled. So far, the Capitol death toll is two suicides, one insurrectionist, one cop; the woman shot and the one trampled along with the cop who died of his injuries after being beaten with a fire extinguisher besides being kicked and hit. Those, in my opinion, should be all murder or manslaughter charges along with treason to all charged rioters.

Also, in my opinion, one way to stop most of this is better education, more vocational education offered, with better teacher pay and opportunities. Strong penalties regarding drug companies and pharmacists concerning drugs for profit and penalties for consumer lack of protection and price gouging. Stronger enforced laws, fewer lobbyists, more police training, and less protection offered to rogue cops by their unions.

More in-depth job opportunities created, better infrastructure, and strong education about and enforced laws concerning minorities, religions, and the disabled. Basically, our entire education and medical systems need to be revamped. These past four years are a strong reminder of why this needs to change, it shouldn't be rocket science.

Trumpers have consumed way too much of the Koolaid over the last four years.  They have made a mockery of the Republican party and will now have to stew in their own juice.  I look for no across the aisle gestures from them.  Leopards don't change their spots.

UnfortunatIy, I agree. Here is the latest from Twitter;

"Over the course of former President Donald Trump's tenure in the White House, CNN fact checker Daniel Dale rose to prominence for his efficient fact checking of the thousands of lies broadcast from the White House and Trump's Twitter account.

In the weeks before Trump's departure from the White House, Dale announced that he'd be applying his skills to broader right-wing disinformation in addition to fact-checking President Joe Biden. He acknowledged that the former President's constant barrage of lies required full-time devotion that wouldn't be required under Biden.

Dale has begun this work already with Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who ascended to Congress despite her support of the QAnon conspiracy theory, which hinges on the delusion that a hidden network of satanic cannibal pedophiles secretly controls the United States government.

Greene, who introduced articles of impeachment against Biden on his first full day in office, picked up where Trump—now banned from Twitter—left off in broadcasting right wing lies from the social media outlet.

She continues to peddle the delusion that widespread voter fraud stole the election from Trump, in addition to bogus claims about the First Amendment and Democrats' prior condemnations of violence in response to unrest last summer.

Dale packaged the 11 biggest lies Greene told on Twitter in an article on Thursday for CNN.

I sent Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's office a list of my fact check findings and invited her to comment on any of t... https://t.co/RASp5VOMgn
— Daniel Dale (@Daniel Dale)1611269423.0
Dale mentioned he'd invited Greene to comment on the piece, but was met with a response from her communications director:

"CNN is fake news."
Trump himself popularized the "fake news" phrase over the course of his 2016 campaign, encouraging his followers to reject all reporting from the mainstream media. Republicans like Greene quickly followed suit.

Some good news about a politician for once;

"Bernie Sanders' campaign has turned the viral photo of him bundled up at Joe Biden's inauguration into a new sweatshirt, with all proceeds going to charity.

The "Chairman Sanders Crewneck" — named to honor Sanders' assumption of the powerful Senate Budget Committee chair now that Democrats control the chamber — is on sale now for $45, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Meals on Wheels Vermont. The absurd popularity of the meme, however, seems to have already caused a glut in orders, with a note on the site cautioning, "Due to overwhelming demand for this item, it may be a few weeks until you receive your sweatshirt."

The photo of Sanders at the inauguration, taken by Brendan Smialowski for Getty Images, was probably the most unexpectedly memorable image to come out of Biden's inauguration. The photo captured Sanders at his normcore best: crossed legs, crossed arms, big fuzzy mittens over his hands, face mask properly covering nose, mouth and chin, yet also just slightly askew. Capping it all off, Sanders' gray jacket was clearly the same one he was wearing in the "I am once again asking... " meme that emerged during his 2020 presidential bid (if anything, it's just proof that a person truly only needs one good coat)."

That is a funny picture of Bernie...

I wonder if he is ill ...  because he hasn't looked
well for a very long time.

This time when he spoke he sounded
very weak and poor Jimmy Carter wasn't able
to make it ...  What a pistol he is !!!
