Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

LOVE to vacuum with!  Marilyn, that word love does NOT go with vacuum.  Go back and study the textbook again.

JeanneP

We had such a storm last night.  I was hoping it would help the area to cool down but No.
Today it is going to 93 deg. again and the humidity will be worse.  I just think I will stay
indoors and read, watch movies.
So that I can try to keep up with Marilyn and her cleaning.(No  way could I possible keep up with her.) I may get the sweeper out and do a quick run through.
JeanneP

so_P_bubble

Marilyn, you made me tired! lol

SharonE

Ditto, Bubble! None of us can keep up with Marilyn.

MP, Bon anniversaire to Debbie!  Sounds like it will be a good one for her. Thanks for the info on Sue.

Jane, hurrah for the good paint match. It's amazing what they can do these days. Happy Birthday to Ray!  It sounds like he does pretty well for 81 considering all his health challenges.

I've been over to the clubhouse for our primary vote (not presidential), just 3 offices, but one is for our House Rep, so wanted to vote for him.  I also went in and looked at the new equipment they have gotten in the fitness center. It looks pretty good. Now if I can force myself to go over there again.

My neighbor got back from her vacation to CA and called for a long chat this AM. Otherwise, I haven't done a whole lot.  Hot and humid here too.

I'd forgotten the tonic water too. I'll have to get some Thursday.  Sharon

SharonE

Where is everyone?  My cleaning girl is here and has also washed all the windows on the inside!  Looks so nice. I'm hurting more than usual today so not doing much.

Hope you all are keeping busy inside in the AC.  Sharon

MaryPage

I am hurting that you are hurting, Sharon.

JeanneP

I think most of us are relaxing with a good book or a movie.  It is just to hot to go outdoors. We had another good big storm last night but it just puts the humidity up higher.

I will go out to the store and take a walk later tonight about 7pm.  I eat so much when relaxing that I need that walk.
JeanneP

GinnyAnn

My mouth has been hurting and taking all of my energy to deal with it.  Had to cancel my chiropractor appointment because I didn't want to go out. I hate how much my teeth can hurt.

Say "Hi" to Sue for me please.

maryz

Hi gals!  Nothing much doing here.  I went to swimming and stopped at Walmart on the way home.  Lunch and then just woke up from a good nap.  My exciting life.  It's not quite as hot here today, although still near 90.  And late afternoon thunderstorms are predicted for evening.  I've got a couple of movies I got from the library and I'll probably watch one of them tonight - nothing on I like to watch on Wednesdays (even reruns).

Good to see you checking in, Ginny Ann, although I'm sorry about your dental problems.  That's no fun!

Jeanne, I know how much you like to get out and about. Sorry your temps are so unseasonable.  Guess this is the "new normal" for summers, though.

I wish all of us who have chronic pain could find some relief - at least some of the time.  It "ain't no fun"!

Well after a few days of no pain in my back, since vacuuming yesterday it is now hurting. Good thing I see the Chiropractor tomorrow.

Freckles and I went back to "work:" today visiting at one of the care homes. She gets so excited to go to work, she dances around while I am trying to put her vest on and when she get to the patients she just goes right over and sits in front of them waiting for her loving. I took her for a walk after lunch and in and  hour I will be going to my Tai Chi practice.

Tomorrow we (freckles and I) go to the Hospital for a visiting. Then Friday Keith and I are going on a weekender.

It rained here off and on yesterday but today the sun is  peeking out of the clouds now and then right is also cooler.

Sharon didn't the Abulation Sp? work for you?

jane

I, too, walked this morning while it was cool.  It sure heated up later...91 when I left the Bridge game.  Too hot to do anything outside. We, too, had the storm last night...huge quantities of water coming down three different times...and some big limbs and parts of trees down around town again.

More of the heat through the weekend again.  I see Phoenix is to have an all time high of 120 on Sunday.

Gloomy, gloomy day here on the bay, and that is all I have to say.  I'm reading a good book.

The new TV series:  OJ Made In America,  is really, really well done, and I highly recommend it.  You can watch it on ABC or ESPN or On Demand.  Instead of fictionalizing Simpson's life story, as other series and films have done, using actors and all that, they have made a documentary of it.  Photos and films.  A lot of people in the here and now telling how it was in the there and then.  Fascinating.  I was somewhat relieved to hear the present time Marcia Clark confessing that at the time the case was given to her to prosecute, she didn't have a clue who O.J. Simpson was!  That is precisely the way it was with me:  I'd never heard of the guy!

I would give this series an A+.  Seriously.

SharonE

Good morning, Gals. I am waiting on my handyman to arrive and take care of a few piddling maintenance matters. Then I will have to go to the grocery.  I'm still hurting a lot today, but hope that an extra pain pill will allow me to get the shopping done.  I guess my pain is weather related as we have been having fronts moving in and out. Not much rain, maybe .2 inch, but it is all around us.

Thanks, Mary Page, for the commiseration on my pain yesterday.  No thanks on the OJ program. I heard entirely too much about that when it was going on and I still feel it was a poor verdict that released him. I'm just glad they got him for something else later.

Marilyn, sorry your back is hurting again. Hope the chiropractor was able to help.  I haven't had the ablation yet. They did a diagnostic nerve block and that didn't work. They are going to try that again July 1.  Unless they can find the right nerves, they can't do the ablation.  HOpe your therapy visits went well. Freckles sounds like such a good dog.

Jane, do be careful walking in the heat.  It is hot here too, hovering around the low 90's. Humidity up again but supposed to be nice for the weekend.

Ginny, so sorry to hear you're having dental problems again.  Not fun!  Take care of yourself.

Hi to everyone.  Sharon

JeanneP

Still in the 90s here and so will be another lazy day. Yesterday I watched 6 hours of the show Six feet under. So still have another 6 hours to go.
Language is awful but the show is good .i do have a couple of books to read. Will run over to Macy's at the mall around six. The have a three hour sale on and a couple things I need.

Can look forward to a hot weekend. Wonder what July and August will be like.
Going to put off any kind of trips until Sept. Now.

We are under a Tornado Watch!  Can you Believe it?

Our whole West Virginia Panhandle, Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C.., Baltimore, Annapolis area.  They are warning us of hail, deadly winds, and possible tornadoes!

Went to the vampire this morning.  Only one time, and she got all she needed!  Blood Pressure still way too high.  Had my prolia shot, also.  Then we went to Grump's Cafe for breakfast.  Had the ranchero omelet, with white toast and grits.  Heaven!  Except that I could not finish it.  Then a quick run through the grocery, and we are home for the day;  it not yet being ten o'clock.

Chip told me what was, to me, a new joke.  Actually, it is probably older than religion.  OK, here it is, and it is a riddle, so the answer will come before I go to bed tonight.  Give it a try:

What is the difference between a hippo and a zippo?

He! He!

SharonE

Hope all the severe weather bypassed you, Mary Page.  I give up on your riddle. You'll have to tell us the answer.

Marilyn, I saw the video on FB. Nice parade and good pictures of Freckles and you.

Hi Darlene. I imagine your heat is worse than ours, but ours is bad enough. 95 yesterday with high humidity.

Jane, is everything okay with you? You missed posting yesterday which is unusual for you.

Jeanne, glad you have plenty of movies and books to entertain you inside with all the heat outside!  Lori said it was to be lovely in Chicago tomorrow & Sunday. Hope it is for you too.

Nothing much planned here for today. Maybe some redding up and organizing in my den.

Ginny, hope your teeth are better.  Sharon

MaryPage

OK, Sharon, here it is!  Pretty obvious, once you hear it!

A hippo is VERY heavy, whereas a Zippo is a little lighter!

Please vent your disgust at Chip, and not me!

jane

hahaha....love the riddle, MaryPage!

Neat video, Marilyn!

I guess I got lost in my painting touchups, grocery shopping and organizing the bit I have collected for next year's income tax yesterday.  It's just easier when we get home from Texas if I have the medical/dental receipts, the car license plate tags receipts, and all of that organized together.

I walked this morning and the girls at the bank think they'll bring the commercial shredder back for the "party" the bank has for its customers during the summer.  It's a cookout of hamburgers, etc. in the parking lot.  So, I'm going to start through some of those things they send monthly statements for and weed out the old stuff from past years.  I'll put in a tote and it'll be ready when the big shredder truck comes.

It's to be hot here, too, through the weekend.

Nothing else much going on.

Thinking of our Sue!!

Marilyn.  He did a great job on that video. Nice for you to keep for years to come
Quite a few dogs like Jacks in the Parade wasn't there?  Freckles looked good.

Saturday morning greetings!

Ray and I walked to town for the "Rubber Ducky Race" at 9:30 am.  They dumped the little yellow ducks into the river by the last drop in the white water course and from the bridge.  They had people downstream catching them and then people in the river....pretty shallow...with nets to pull in all those who got caught in whirlpools.  There was a good crowd.  It really started to heat up on the walk home.  We'll go back down later today when for River Fest when things get going. Food vendor tents were just setting up when we left.

Jane

SharonE

Funny, Mary Page!

Jane, were the rubber duckies for a charity?  I've seen them do that and everyone purchases a duck and the winning duck gets a prize but the rest of the money goes to a charity. Fun anyway. Sounds like you have a nice activity for the afternoon. Hope your weather is as lovely as ours.

Bunny is at the groomers. John's playing bridge and I'm trying to decide if there is anything important enough for me to get up and get moving.

Hi to all.  Sharon

maryz

Welcome, FlaJean.  We're happy to have you join our conversation.

jane, Sharon - we had a rubber duck race here today, too.  It's to benefit a local charity.

Nothing going on around here. I guess everybody's staying in out of the heat.  Our 10-day music festival, Riverbend, winds up tonight.  They close out with a big fireworks display.  I'm hoping I'll be able to see it from my deck.  I'm not too far away, "as the crow flies".
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Welcome, Jean!

Yes, Rubber Ducks is to benefit local hospital which is raising money for new equipment for one of the depts...radiology, maybe?

We went back down this afternoon...they were having a frozen teeshirt contest at the time!  Teeshirts were frozen in blocks of ice and the contestants were to try and get them out and on.  Some kids too them to the river to dunk them in, etc.  Fun stuff.  We sat in the Brewery and watched the kayakers and tubers on the river and then came on back home.

Neighbor came over to ask if OK to do some trimming of tree limbs, etc.  Ray told him to have at it.  With our old houses, everything is right to the property line...so his trees and our trees can of get mixed in together.

We're grilling smoked pork chops out tonight and that'll be supper.  Ray's having beans with his and I'm on to a favorite that most people don't like...brussel sprouts!! ;D

jane

MaryPage

I'll line up for your Brussels Sprouts.  Have loved them all of my life.  Just ask, and I'll be there!  What's for dessert?

jane

Whatever you want to bring! :D

so_P_bubble

Yummy!  I'll sneak in quietly... ;D
