Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

I seem to be able to get into S and F O.K this morning on my Desktop.
Another Monday and I don't have one thing planned. Getting to be able to do less and less planning. What is opened in town I don't need. So much needs doing around the house that is on hold. I think my roof man has gone fishing again. I don't blame him. Has itfixed enough I think that the rain is no longer leaking in. I am going to try and paint the shed this week myself. Hose down the porch and let it go for now.
Jane. Hope your body healing. Did you get any black and blue from it.. Seem I can just tap my body on anything these days and get a bruise. They clear up fast but sure glad I don't wear shorts anymore.
I do need to get my laundry taken to the cleaners. Sure wish my lady would get back that has done it for years. I think that maybe the $600 a week they were getting was stopped but still getting $400. That is over twice what she made working and so again. Can't blame the people.
They said only in the 70s this week but now weather man says high 80s all week.
How I miss my going down town to the movies and eating lunch with friend. Poor women. she is sad as her car was damaged in the hail storm  all over dents and they say $7000 to fix. Insurance just say Total it. Its a 2015 but only 61000 miles and she keeps it so clean looks like new. Says may just go ahead and drive it.  Now i have a hard time with a car once it get marks on it. But I would not pay that much more to fix than what the insurance will give her. They all sound great until you have a big claim.

Our County Public Health announced on their website through the local hospital that they will no longer publish the number of Covid cases!  They say it's spreading and they're too busy.  Uh huh!  The state publishes it...137 up from 126 on Friday.  I'm NOT happy about that and said so on the website.

I'm showered and dressed and need to go out to WalMart for some items.

The Chattanooga paper gives Covid case numbers by county for Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. The county where I live now has gone steadily up, but has just had the first deaths in the last week or so - only 4 so far (this is a small, semi-rural county). The paper also gives a graph-type listing of cases by state, although I don't ever look at that.

One of the head RAs (nursing assistants) has been out for a while. She was back today and said she'd been gone for three weeks - had tested positive for the virus, and has also been in the hospital for two days with pneumonia. She's glad to be back at work, and seems to be feeling pretty good. I'm glad she's better in any case.  Several of the other RAs have been "missing", too, and I hope they'll be back soon.

We're predicted to have highs in the upper 80s this week, but after a "cold front" has come through, with lower humidity. It makes things a little more pleasant, though - even with the heat.

Happy Monday, Buddies!

Good morning, every Buddy.  I've been up and dressed for a while, but have managed to read the morning paper and eaten my breakfast.  It's going to be a scorcher here in Auburn today, so I'll probably stay inside most of the day.

I hope Every Buddy is feeling well and has a good day planned.  Take care, Every Buddy.

Well after 5 or 6 trips to the other side of town, we now have our driver's licenses, handicaped placard, and license plate. So much paper work and 2 different offices to go to, but at least it is now done.

Nothing else really got done today. We're in the low 80's and sunny. I did meet and go over and see the back yard of my neighbor across the street. I asked her for her beautician and she asked her daughter and it was way away, so googled one and found one near our grocery. Pretty expensive--$46 for shampoo, cut and style. We'll see how they do, but it has to be better than it is now. I have an appt at 11:00 tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Sharon

jane

Sue...glad you're staying inside  when the weather is a scorcher.

Sharon...by my local standards...that is pricey.  I suppose it's common in urban areas. I agree it'd better be great at those prices.

I did get a walk to town in this morning and watched the road construction guys along the way.  It's going to get worse before it gets better.

Our County Health people got a lot of "feedback" and have decided to announce the daily new "positive" case numbers, after saying they were too busy to do that.  I still have to look at the state site to see the total number.  I just think that County Public Health who say one of their missions is to keep the public informed, needed to do that.

Stay healthy and safe,

jane

It looks as if a lot of our Buddies still can't find the new server.  It takes several days, they say, to get the new server to connect to the link.  Or something like that.   :idiot2:

I walked this morning to town this morning to check out the construction.  They're getting close to my driveway, and there's no way they'll have it filled in with gravel within 4 hours of tearing it all up.  Good thing I have lots of food in the freezer.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

A fruitful day today--the cleaning lady came and did the sheets and showers. I got my pills organized for the next week. When I run out of stuff, I will have the pharmacist put it in bubble packs. Then I went to get my hair done and was very pleased with it. A little short for me, but it looks nice and everyone is complimentary. Iff you want to see it and are on FB, John took a pic of me in my new laZyBoy.  He didn't like the selfies I took. Ha! While I was gone, the Spectrum guy came and worked while I was gone and for about an hour afterwards, but he finally got John's all fixed and figured out why mine worked and his didn't.John is a happy camper now and he doesn't keep coming in here to watch my TV. I wasn't watching it and he didn't do it much, but still nice to have it to my self.

Jane, I hope they get your road fixed in a day or two.

Mary, what's the situation in your facility? We're still pretty locked down.

Hi Sue, you must be getting bored not seeing anyone other than Tim and Kris.

Jeanne, you sound depressed with it all!

Stay safe, everyone.  Sharon

jane

Sharon...your haircut is beautiful!

It won't be a couple days on the road...it's major work...widening the road, putting in new storm sewers, etc.  It'll be weeks, if not months before it's finished.

jane

maryz

Sharon, we're still locked down. Our apartments haven't been cleaned in several weeks - the gal who does that has been working as one of the RAs, filling in for some of those who are out sick. Our head nurse and several of the RAs have had Covid-19, with some hospitalizations. At least one RA and the nurse both came back this week - both still weak, and taking it easy as they come back into working. It's good to have them back. Also, several of the residents have temporarily left the facility and are staying with family locally.  I think I may have said before - Margaret asked if I wanted to do that. Frankly, I feel very safe here and certainly have care if I need it. Also I have no idea of how long I'd have to stay out, and I'd have to move so much of my stuff with me - out and back.  All in all, although I'll be really ready for things to loosen up and to be able to get out of our apartments, but I'm doing okay.

jane, sounds like a really big construction project on your roads. Those never go quickly. Sorry you're having to deal with it.  The inconvenience of torn-up roads is bad enough, but then there's the noise. Hope you have some ear plugs.

I know we're all feeling closed in.  I'm afraid it's going to go on for a while yet, but we will adjust and get over it.

Hugs to all the Buddies!

Sharon, here my beautician does a haircut for $35 which does not include shampoo or style.  So you did well!  Where is the picture posted?

jane

I asked a construction guy this morning about the entrance to my driveway.  He says it won't be torn out.  Guess those south of me because of new storm sewer stuff for the cul de sac across the road from me.  Whew.  They took out the little walk to the street from main sidewalk since no longer allowed to park in street, as they're making it three lanes.

I got out early for some sweet corn and bacon and eggs I was low on.

Take care and stay safe.

Jane

Another one of our RAs and the maintenance guy are back from having Covid - both doing well now. And the cleaning gal is back to her cleaning job, at least for now.  She got my apartment this morning. Glad to see these friendly faces again.

Sharon, forgot to mention - the new haircut looks great.  I surely wish I could get one.  Your new chair looks comfy, too.

I don't seem to be having any problems getting into S&F right now. Guess I shouldn't tempt the fates, though.

Happy Thursday, Buddies!

Thank you all for the comments on my hair. My picture is in FB (search SherryEde)I ended up paying $65 with tip and I had shampooed it the night before, so definitely pricey, but I needed someone closeby and who was good at styling My former beautician charged me $25+ tip for shampoo and cut and I went home wet and styled it myself the way I wanted it. I may ask this girl what she will charge for that later on.

I didn't sleep till 3:30 last night, so not very perky today even though I slept till 10:00.

John went to the grocery about the time I got up. It seems that with breakfast and lunch, we still have to go about once a week or so.

Did I mention John has his wifi and TV working now? So he's a happy camper. Unfortunately, his usual Thurs. partner couldn't play today, but he's looking forward to playing with his Chinese partner tomorrow. Apparently, he is a genius and John has learned a lot from him.

Mary, I'm glad things are getting back to somewhat normal at your facility.

Jane, I'm glad they won't tear up the road in front of your driveway, but I know it will still be a mess.

Sue, I worry about you and the Covid. Auburn has had a lot of it apparently, but I don't think you are going to the university anymore.  Stay in and stay safe.  Sharon

jane

Sharon...glad the tech guy got things working for John.

The poor folks in Cedar Rapids who had the derecho come through ...many without power still!  The devastation to buildings, trees, farm fields will be in the billions they say.  They now say some of the winds had to 140 mph to do the damage it did.
And while hurricanes get that high, there's at least warnings ahead of time.  This time the warning time was 30 minutes.

It looks as if a lot of colleges that opened are closing and sending students home again...UNC, etc.  AND yet I hear people being interviewed who say it's all a hoax.  That boggles my mind.

Stay safe and healthy, Buddies,

jane

It has been in the 100's the past few days .  It does cool down at night though .   I have an eye dr. appt. at 1:50p.m.  today & not looking forward to it . I dislike having drops in my eyes .  But at least it gets me out of the house !  I haven't any where since Sunday & I'm feeling cooped up .

jane

Alpiner...I've sent out emails to the Buddies whose email I have when this site is down.  I don't have your email.  If you'd like to be on my list, please email me.  You can find my email under my name at the top of this post.

Several of our buddies still can't connect....Darlene and Jeanne.  I don't know if Marilyn can or not.

Stay safe and healthy,

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've been up, dressed, read the morning paper, and am just sitting here as usual. I hope Every Buddy is feeling well and doing OK today.  I've been reading a good bit every day, so that keeps me busy.  I don't know if Tim will be coming over this morning, but I'll be here if he does!

Sue

jane

Morning, Sue, Sharon, Mary, Alpiner...

ALpiner...hope the drops weren't a problem.  I'm used to those...need them for my allergies and wore contacts for years, so used to sticking stuff in my eyes.

Sue...glad you're staying safe from the high virus numbers there in Auburn.

Sharon...stay safe

Mary...glad the cleaner got to your apt.

I walked this morning up the street...opposite of my usual route...to see how the construction was going up there.  It's finished, as best I can tell...and they've repaved and have it the three lanes we'll have here as well, when all is done.  They also poured the concrete for the curb in front of where they tore out my "little sidewalk to the street" so I think they're done with me...though I hope they smooth out the dirt left when they pulled out that concrete.

It was a comfortable 69 when I walked...but forecast is for "sizzling" this weekend and next week....yikes...and kids go back to school on Monday.  I'm on my backporch now, enjoying this cool slight breeze.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

I am back now in SandF. That didn't take long. We do miss it when it I down.
Jane . Bet you are getting lots of dust.
I doubt they start what they had planned for in front of my place. I went out to 3 places yesterday that had reopened  , best buys one . After being closed for 3 months. They were putting new blacktop over that side of the mall and so could not get in. Even getting back onto the interstate was down and had to go 2 miles around.  Why the couldn't have done it past months. Whole town seems to be under construction.
Sue . I saw your new hair cut. Like it  ok to pay that to get the shape but all it should need now is a monthly trim. Ask them for a price on that..
Weather great here right now .wiss I had GS of places to go. I can only stand a mask on for the most. A hour. Bothers the side were the nerves were cut. I am going to see if can find o better fitting mask
Cosco new building getting ready to open. They are out on the road selling memberships now.people say worth gettin one just for good pricing on glasses and proscriptions.
And yes . The sell caskets for whenever you need one.
My family in Texas been members for years.
Sue . Now I am not really depressed. Just bored. Never felt so tied in and use to going any time. Anywhere for last 50 years.  Was going to be a big travel year for me. Last year was my new car buying. Now put less than a thousand miles on it.over a year.
I still have not gotten my new license or my plate sticker. The have extended time now to October to get them.
JeanneP

jane

Glad you're back in, Jeanne.

NOW to get our Darlene here from S. Texas and Marilyn from Oregon.

Cottoncandy

Yea...finally just now got to sign in....missed everyone...I will have to read the posts before I comment....it is still very hot in my part of the world....later..Darlene

jane

HURRAH!  Our Darlene is back~  Now for Marilyn to check in and we're all back together again, I think.

I'm hoping the overcast and wind this morning is bringing us rain.  Radar shows it 15 miles west of me and it would be a blessing.
We're so dry here that the lawn is brown and crunchy.

I'm in for the weekend and going to binge watch West Wing, Chesapeake Shores, Good Witch, etc on Netflix and Prime.  I'm so grateful the "kids"...nephew and family...set those up for us and showed me how to actually get to them and back to my cable.
  :smitten:

During this pandemic, I've lost my desire to go into even the local shops here in town.  I don't need any new clothes to sit here by myself and I sure don't need any "doodads."  Do you all use that word..."dodads" or "doodads"....little what-nots to decorate your space?

I had a Sharon night...could not get to sleep or stay asleep long--hour or hour and a half was the max.  My laundry is all caught up, I have plenty of food, and so it's going to be a SLOWSlugSaturday.   :2funny:

Take care of YOURSELF, stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals. Laundry day for me. They had a happy hour (with mini glasses of wine) at the club house last night. Visited with our friends from HH.

Jane, I love Good Witch, Chesapeake Shores, but I don't have Netflix or anything outside of cable to watch.

Jeanne, nice they are opening some stores for you, but I agree about the paving.

Our son & wife dropped off their youngest at college yesterday. Worries me, but I can't do anything about it. He is so handsome, I hope he doesn't get talked into a bunch of parties. I don't think he will, but who knows? His brother started his Senior year a couple weeks ago, but he shares an apt or house with some guys and they are all pretty much nerds, so think they are safe. I'm so glad our kids are grown and have some level of common sense now.

I get so frustrated with computers. I got an email from my MC supp linking me to a website where I could set up paperless notifications, etc. It will not accept my contract # no matter how many times I put it in and of course this is Saturday and no customer service!  Grrrr!

Have fun reading and watching TV everyone. I need to put in another load of laundry.  Stay safe. Sharon

JeanneP

Aways loved shopping but now I can't even stand to go into stores. Just grab what I need in Grocery and out. Give me the creeps seeing all the people walking around like zombies in masks. I can only wear one for 20 min. and after that i get to feel sort of dizzy. Sure it is my imagination although with my left side nerves still sort of dead then the thing bothers my ear.
Going to call library soon as I have 3 books holding on shelf. Would like to go in and go through shelves but even that feels creepy. People handling them all the time. So I will just call and pick up curbside today.
I have just got to stop sleeping so many hours.Getting to be a habit. Should go out walking when weather cooler. Getting to easy to flop down on the sofa. Still cooking good meals
I feel like my Up and go is changing daily. What friends I have seem to be feeling same way. Just should not let it get to us as I believe it is going to go on for this year.
JeanneP

Marilyn

I'm in I put an update on Keith on Facebook. Went to Walmart this morning for a few things, not many people in there. Not much else is new here just the same ole walks with Freckles, and wine with my neighbor. Well Friday Night Mexican dinner too.

Thanks for checking in Marilyn.

Rain and heavy storms showed up on the radar moving this way...15 miles away, but they detoured or whatever and never got to us.
 Blue skies now.

Good morning, every Buddy.  I've been up, read the paper, and had breakfast.  So far that's all I've accomplished this morning.  I hope every Buddy is feeling well, weather is good where you live, and you have time to relax and enjoy your day.

I am not sure whether Tim will come over this morning.  I'm not going outside for a while and hope I see him sometime today.  He's been good about coming over to check on me and I've had phone calls from Bill and Jon.

I hope Every Buddy is having good weather and a nice day planned.  Take care, Every Buddy.

SharonE

Hi Gals. I had another sleepless night till about 3 and then slept till 10! Just had a cup of coffee & some toast while I listened to our church service on You Tube. I so appreciate having that until we get to the point of finding a new church near here. I'll still miss the old familiar faces though.

Welcome back, Darlene and Marilyn.

Jane, yes, I use the word "doodads". I guess we are close enough in the MW to have lots of similarities.

Hi Sue, John gave me a book about Aix en Provence that he thought I would like because of the French setting. Oh my! I read about 30 pages and gave it back to him. It was the ugliest, cruelest book I've read since Silence of the Lambs which he also gave me and has never lived down.Fortunately, I had a Danielle Steele I hadn't read. I gave him a Tami Hoag mystery which he seems to like.

We have our big meal at noon here, so that's over and I'm going to read while John plays bridge.

Mary, the shut-down here was a false alarm. False positives on a couple tests, so we're back in the dining room next week. Hope you all stay safe at your facility.

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  Sharon
