I was with someone who was trying on wigs.  It wasn't because of illness, maybe just trying them on.  I tried one on and I could not get it on over my natural hair.  At the time, I had a full head of hair and it's pretty full now.  We had a good laugh at the time.

Several weeks ago there  was a Baptism at our church and the older brother, around 4 would not sit or stand still.  The Priest never said a thing, but after the service he related that he was like that boy.  When young he pulled a hat off a woman in front of them at church.   It was attached to her wig and it also came off.  He said things were quiet around the house for several days.

Great story, Jack.

I agree! Two good stories!

Shirley, the reason you didn't know I had a parrot  is because I don't have a parrot!  ;D  Just a mixup in names - the parrot owner is JeanneP, not Jeanne Lee.   ;)

I think we once talked about our gray hair & is why I posted some photos of myself at various ages.... still in the Gallery but I have trouble finding the right one, it shows a group of 4 photos & then I click on something else & up comes all the rest of the photos.  My natural hair was blue/black, not the brown black ... so when I started brushing in Clairol it had to be the "Black Velvet"... nothing else would blend in.  I did my own, still have the sheet I put all over the floor & cabinet, all the black splatters.  I would leave just enough gray so it didn't look dyed, my eyebrows & eyelashes were also black, only wore lipstick back in those days.  My hair grows so fast I had to dye & trim every 10 days.... not unusual if you think about a man shaving every day & how much it would grow in 10 days.  Going from black to white it looked like I had a swim cap on.  ;D

I do remember (now) that you had a parrot, JeanneP.... so what kind is it, does it talk & why haven't we ever seen a photo or you talk about it?  How old?  My birds were noisy but never talked.  The bluejay could bark like the dog next door.

Patricia, polio was at it's peak when I was little... one of the twins next door got it & I'd go talk to him sometimes, when my brother & his twin were off being boys.  He had all sorts of electronic games & would show me how they worked.... for a while.  He was about 5 years older so barely tolerated my visits.  Sorry you still have problems from so long ago.  I had a drain hanging out my lung for months when I was 2 years old (pneumonia, whooping cough & measles all same time)... the scar goes between the ribs into my lung & can't gain weight or it pulls the tissue. Dr said it would be major surgery to fix so am lucky I don't gain weight.

Love the ornery kid stories.... Jack, during my youngest Baptism my brother's little boys kept pestering Andy (not 3 yet).. until in the middle of the ceremony Andy yells out at them, "Quit it, damn it"....   Thanks goodness only my brother's family & the Priest heard him but he sure got a talking to ... never heard him say it before so must have heard it somewhere.   ;)   In our house I kept a bar of Ivory soap that was only for "mouths that got kids in trouble".... I'd make them open their mouth, rub the bar of soap over their bottom teeth & the more they spit (in the bathroom) the more icky taste they got.  Never had to do it but once for the same crime.

Okay, I've changed my print to -bold, 14 Times New Roman-   is that any better for those with eye problems?  Does the purple work for everyone?  Let me know & I will be happy to switch~

Mary Ann

Shirley, as long as you use a dark color (please no yellow or beige) I can read your posts.  Making them BOLD is a big help.

I have the Random Image to the left of the posts.  Since the last change, there are not too many pictures in the Gallery or wherever they are kept.  The pictures seem to appear in groups - I'll have several of you, then some that Beverly posted, some of Norm and Dot with friends.

Do you want the random images there?  That left side panel can be removed so a full post shows.

Shirley, I use the same font size only in black so it works great! It is the size, bolding and dark color that works.

Shirley

Rick, my random images disappeared in here... hadn't realized until you mentioned.  I think I see it in the Soda Shoppe... this & that & Videos are only places I visit.  You been okay?  Don't see you post often.  With your help I did get my temp thingy in.... and neglected to thank you for posting the menu of how to.  So, thanks!

Mary Ann, lots of times when doing something special for someone it just feels right.  Think what you did was good for all.  As one prayer says, "it is giving that we receive".... You do so much for your family & friends, no wonder they are thoughtful of you.

Patricia, your black shows up good.  Only reason I use purple is I know where to "read back to" easier.  I know Mary Ann uses blue & over in the Soda Shopped different ones use different colors so easier to pick out posts when colors change.

Haha, Jeanne Lee.... so do you want a parrot?  I heard a young rooster trying to learn to crow one morning this week, was so happy to hear it I got up the next morning at daybreak to see if it would try again.  It did. I found out who has the chickens & they are SURE they only have hens.  Got them at Easter so just coming of age.  Roosters are not allowed in the city but up to 4 chickens are okay.  I don't plan to take chickens on the road so will not be getting any.  Had pet chickens during the war, nice pets, smarter than people think.

Busy day tomorrow, lawn guys come & I need to weed whip some places before they get here.  They don't like any delay so gates have to be unlocked & standing open... I hide out in the house until they are gone (about 15 minutes).  I need to write the check to give them so better get that done right now.

Rick, thanks, but I think I'll keep things the way they are.  It's nice to see some of the older pictures, even if the same ones.  If I get tired of them, I can click them away.

Here are three shots from the bear cam at Katami. The first one has swimming bears that you really can't see in the smaller photo. What I wanted to capture was the bridge where the tourist and their cameras stand for two hours at different times to get those shots they need.

Patricia, great photos, would really be something to see in person, but not up close.

Here is my wildlife, and able to get close.

Jackie and Patricia, I'm not sure, but I think I saw some of the BBC Wild Alaska on my TV the other day.  I was looking for something else so did not stay on that channel; I know it was a BBC program.

Evidently what I was looking for was more important at the time, and I do have the bear sites bookmarked, so I am not absolutely sure what I saw, I just know it was a BBC program about Alaskan bears.

Mary Ann

SCFSue

I have one BBC channel which I check every evening.  It often has Star Wars reruns which I don't watch, but recently has had the films of wild life in Alaska.  They were very much worth viewing!

Thanks for the kind comments!

From Jackie's BBC intro, "Alaska is the last frontier of the continent, with forgotten forests the size of nations, cut through with glaciers, mountains and raging rivers. In July an unparalleled explosion of life transforms the wilderness, creating one of the greatest wildlife events on the planet, and we’re going to be there… live.
Steve Backshall"

And this program only accesses the Southeast, only one-quarter of the state's area. While beautiful, I wish I could invite you to see as much in-depth the other three-quarters!

Jack your wildlife is indeed alluring!

...I feel like I am seeing double... :D
... Great captured photo of the two of them...they are looking very inquisitive as to what is going on.....

jackwv

Jackie  that was a photo taken on a walk with Jessie and the deer never worried about her, but kept an eye on both of us.

FlaJean

Jack, that photo would make a beautiful wall painting.  Going to be another hot day in the upper 80s.

JeanneP

MaryAnn. Great views. Now you must be watching the camera in the Lower river that gets some of the land. I have mine fixed on the Falls. So always the bears in the river. Will start going into both areas.
Jack. Your dear must be so used to seeing people and Dogs that they done scare away
Jean is right. that would also be a good picture for a beginning artist to try and copy. Get your paint box out..
JeanneP

Lindancer

Jack, look just like the deer stopped to pose for you

Jean thanks, but now have very few pictures on the wall, like everything else I have downsized.

JeanneP  I can't even paint a stick person.   Might give a try with an app.

Lin I was so surprised when I spotted them in just the right spot.  Did not have to move much for the photo.

jackwv

I will leave the photoshop etc to the pro's in here, and painting for Shirley.

I used a free app on windows 10    -   Super Photo     Might have spent a little more time but this was a quick 5 minutes

Love to watch the bears, Patricia, don't have the camera link on this computer... was having trouble getting to view any videos or cams for a while.  Would love to have the chance to be on that bridge.

Jack, you couldn't have gotten those deer in a better spot!  As my photographer brother used to say so often "you composed in the camera".... Love the little white speckles that I'm guessing is wild garlic?  I know you say you don't know what flowers are, but if it is wild garlic or onion all you have to do is pinch off the end of the stem (pod or green) & smell.  Wonderful smell....  Looks like the deer are sprouting antlers.... do all of them grow antlers or just the males?  I'd love to see that photo full size (hint-hint).

Cooler but humid today, need to clean the pool but last time I looked we had rain to the west so would not be worth the effort to clean.  (Okay, I'm looking for an excuse to not clean it today).  We are below normal temps for this time of year, anyone taking bets on an early winter?  We didn't have cold enough to kill bugs last winter and no really hot temps like most years this summer.  I'm expecting the "mother of all winters" this year..... have snow blower warmed up & ready! ...hopefully.

That does look "painterly", Jack, but the photo is so perfect I never try to improve on Mother Nature.  I agree that would make a gorgeous framed photo for a wall. The deer look so healthy this year.
