Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

2024-05-02, 00:07:54
Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

Bubble, thanks.   I did not intend to ask more info from you.  Good for the Israeli Security.   I did note that you are able to still find hotels, pubs etc, some even on facebook and there were street views of the area. For several of us it was simply a matter of curiosity and feel you do understand why we might ask about an interesting home and surroundings.

so_P_bubble

As you could see, the streets to the restaurant Taipei, or the fish shop, or the hairdresser did not exist on Google.
Some areas are more sensitive than others - I have no idea why, maybe because of the proximity to center town.

The private house with the ceramics has always been there as far as I remember, but I have never asked about it.  I am not curious by nature! Also, since there is so much greenery surrounding the house and a always closed gate (which is not usual here) I felt the owners, probably the second generation, valued their privacy.

jackwv

Bubble thanks, it is enough that you have shown us the beautiful sea shore in your area.  Will never visit, but if I did, good to know I can find a local pub :D

Jackie, good work.  I would not have a problem finding a Pub. :)  The folks in that mansion may want their privacy, but appears they do like to put on a beautiful display to the outside world,

JeanneP

Good job Jackie.  Nothing in the world can be hidden anymore. Its been proven that anything can be found out about everyone. Going to be no secrets soon.
Now I would say that at one time it was some kind of a Museum. Not so much a private home. It was decided to close and some things just put on display outside.. Did you notice the little red mailbox right out side the garage? The address does show up. The area not built up much.
JeanneP

FlaJean

Very good photos of that house.  It also gives the address.  An interesting house.

Radioman34

It would appear that the house is of little interest to anybody.  I walked by it many times, and it was also on a busy street, so I guess only a tourist would find it worthwhile to take a  picture of it.

Hit 95 today, cooled down  after sunset.  Took a short walk.  Only took one photo.  Not bad for an old iPhone 5.

Don. Growing up in UK at the end of my street was a house like that. Not as large but high walls with  wire around the top. Iron gate always locked. Never saw anyone going in or out. Was the same. People never question who or what it was. Drove us children crazy but dared not go near it.  Well war was declared in 1939. Turned out that some German Scientist and servants lived in it.   Just like Italians they were all sent back to Germany. Place padlocked (Fact for the whole war). Kids would be kids and we finely found a way in through the cellar window. Make it our secret place for a long time.  What was in was unbelievable. Scientific stuff. Even human parts in jars. Strange machines

We didn't need to go see those kind of movies. Had our own.
Finely we got caught Put in the Paddy Wagon and down to the town Hall. Scared us to death with what they said would do. Here comes parents. Let us out.  We had done a lot of looking but had not touch anything or done any damage.  Just curiosity they put it to.   I wonder still what is in that building
Bet it was cleaned out.  Did learn that all the people who live there were Jewish. Sent back to Germany in 1939. Was figured what had happened to them. No one returned at the end of the war.

On the other side of the lane was the Big Catholic Convent.  Same thing. Big house with wire around the high wall. Was a order where not allowed to go out the gate other than the Heads.  Use to be able to see inside the yard from a high building across the road.(With our spy glasses). Told all kinds of stories about that place growing up.  We girls were told that if we didn't behave then the ones that we would see on the outside in their long black gown would snatch up up under those dresses and took us through those gates never to be seen again. That is why those girls inside never could come outside .  I was so scared of Nuns until I grew up. No matter where I was I would cross the street when I saw one coming.
Met many since and such sweet people . Would laugh if I told them the story.

Now that is why I am still a curious person. Got to see what is behind the walls

I've been in to visit over & over without leaving a post.... don't know how many times I started a WordPad but before I finished & posted I'd get a phone call & be the next day & what I had on the WordPad was out of date news so I didn't post it.  Been to CO for a week to see if old LaurenKat would come if I whistled.... my oldest son came out for several days & we drove over to the Humane Society that is shared by the 2 small towns near by....  a "no kill" shelter that sometimes traps animals in distress (only way they would catch Lauren), no sign of her but I did leave a photo & phone number in case she was spotted.  I said I would send money if she needed to be put to sleep or go get her if she was alive, I didn't want her to suffer.  She was 18 & that is very old for a feral cat.

Anyway, I have been in to see the photos & keep up with y'all.  Have no idea, Jack, what that flower is but a gorgeous photo.

Bubble, we were raised to not be "nosy".... but most of my life I got to know any people that lived near. I love the photos you & Don post & amazed at how different your world is than what I thought is looked like.

Jackie, I can never find all those links like you did.... good job!

JeanneP, funny about what we thought growing up.  One time the girl across the street had just heard the "facts of life" from her mother..... we were the same age but my mother wasn't up for that talk yet.  So the girl across the street proceeded to explain things to me & stopped, looked me in the eye & said, "maybe you won't be like this since you are Catholic".   It seemed pretty icky to me so I just brushed it off with, "I don't think so........"   Years later I told my mother & she just died laughing. I was not curious about those facts.  :coolsmiley:

Time to check on cats.... they stayed in all day & evening because we had storms & rain.  I will check radar before letting them out, the neighbor said she saw 2 coyotes by their fence last week so that is dangerous.  They know it isn't safe when 2 fox or coyotes are around because they can get trapped, but after being confined in the RV for a week, I'm afraid they will be careless.

Sandy, Fe certainly has grown into a darling little girl; she is no longer a baby!  I don't remember how old she is now, but she must be walking all over the place.

I haven't seen my 18-month old 2x grand niece since Christmas 2016, but I understand she is walking a lot.  The babies born this year aren't ready for walking.

Sandy, Fe is becoming a young lady--ALREADY!  She is so cute and I know you all must enjoy her very, very much.

Sandy, Fe is a cutie.  No smile for the camera, even on the avatar?  Know she makes you smile.

Lindancer

I agree with all the other a beautiful cutie.

Fe is a darling.  I bet she is very bright and talk non-stop :)

Sandy

Thankyou all..   Fe is 18 months old now
and has a great personality ..     She is a joy to have around.

Anytime a grown up family gets a new addition,
it affects everyone involved.

We are so blessed to have our young people
procreating and bringing us generations to come.

Up to the park late, a hot, humid day.   Lot of deer this year.  Took this photo and posted a video in the Slide show discussion.

Oh, I love dahlias and that fuchsia color is exquisite.

The first one looks like a hibiscus, but I have never seen one so skinny :).
Are these from your garden Sato?

I hope you are feeling stronger now and on the recovery road. Take care, we missed you here.

Mary Ann

Sato, it is so good to see posts from you and to see your beautiful flower pictures.

I too hope you are feeling better and will be able to post more often; we have missed you.

Sato, beautiful flowers, your photos always are.  Take care and drop us a line when possible.

Beautiful photos this morning.  The deer look so healthy.  Does the park put out feed?

Sato, such lovely photos.  Nice to see your post.

It has been nagging me, but I finally remembered the name of that familiar flower: canna flower.  They do not grow from a bulb like the lilies, but from a rhizome. They are quite hardy.

jackwv

Bubble thanks, another flower name I will forget :)
Jean The park does not put food out (they claim) Lots of grass and plants for them and visitors always feed them.

The talk in Norm's Bait and Tackle the last couple of days has been computers. This is an old snapshot of my husband's first PC, a Commodore PET in 1978

Not sure how he managed to use it from his recliner (which didn't revolve)!  :)
