Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Jackie - Fascinating video showing Queen Mary's Doll House.  The detail is incredible . . . the kitchen items, the books, the garden!   What fun it would be to see it in person.

Shirley

My goodness, Jackie, I never played with doll houses myself but that one is amazing. I watched the whole thing & can't imagine how many hours it would take to create all those tiny pieces so perfectly! When we visited Winsor (the town-1955), the castle was closed as the family was in residence, but we did get to go through St.George's Chapel and I had the head of the church with his arm around me showing me where various people were buried and even the sword in the stone. I was 20 & looked like someone's lost kid, I guess, but my husband was not pleased to have me taken off on a guided tour! Great memories of my years in England. Thanks for the link, I'll be passing it on to my daughter & grands.

BUBBLE  I don't get to check out photos like I used to. I usually check the links you post in the SS. Love your grandson's choice of costume, he sure is growing

SHIRLEY  only one who got a tattoo in my family was the grandson who was killed in a car accident. He had an eagle on his back and it took his whole broad back. It was beautiful and I did like it because it was tasteful. Not like those who are covered in them and all colors. I often wish I took a picture of Jay's back.

BUBBLE  wow Aviv really is a handsome youngster.

Love the photos of London and the architecture is nothing we see here. I never had a longing to travel outside of the  USA but seeing those makes me want to see them in person.

PATRICIA  I have some pictures of some smaller Saguaro with Santa hats on. Still must have needed a ladder to reach and put the hat on top. Wonder how many of those long needles they were stuck with. Where we saw the most Saguaros there were some with holes in them. Birds make their nests in them, Wonder how those needles don't stop them.

JACKIE  thanks for the link to that doll house. I would be afraid to touch any of the tiny furniture and items in it. Have a good night.

Windsor Castle is a royal residence at Windsor in the English county of Berkshire, a historic town found around 21 miles to the west of central London.  It is strongly associated with the English and succeeding British royal family, and embodies almost a millennium of architectural history.

The original castle was built in the 11th century after the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror. Since the time of Henry I (who reigned 1100–1135), it has been used by the reigning monarch and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe.  It has since been the home of 39 monarchs.
The castle's lavish early 19th-century state apartments were described by early 20th century art historian Hugh Roberts as "a superb and unrivalled sequence of rooms widely regarded as the finest and most complete expression of later Georgian taste".[4] Inside the castle walls is the 15th-century St George's Chapel, considered by the historian John Martin Robinson to be "one of the supreme achievements of English Perpendicular Gothic" design.[5]

Originally designed to protect Norman dominance around the outskirts of London and oversee a strategically important part of the River Thames, Windsor Castle was built as a motte-and-bailey, with three wards surrounding a central mound. Gradually replaced with stone fortifications, the castle withstood a prolonged siege during the First Barons' War at the start of the 13th century. Henry III built a luxurious royal palace within the castle during the middle of the century, and Edward III went further, rebuilding the palace to make an even grander set of buildings in what would become "the most expensive secular building project of the entire Middle Ages in England".[6] Edward's core design lasted through the Tudor period, during which Henry VIII and Elizabeth I made increasing use of the castle as a royal court and centre for diplomatic entertainment.

Windsor Castle survived the tumultuous period of the English Civil War, when it was used as a military headquarters by Parliamentary forces and a prison for Charles I. At the Restoration of the monarchy in 1660, Charles II rebuilt much of Windsor Castle with the help of the architect Hugh May, creating a set of extravagant Baroque interiors. After a period of neglect during the 18th century, George III and George IV renovated and rebuilt Charles II's palace at colossal expense, producing the current design of the state apartments, full of Rococo, Gothic and Baroque furnishings. Queen Victoria made a few minor changes to the castle, which became the centre for royal entertainment for much of her reign. Windsor Castle was used as a refuge by the royal family during the Luftwaffe bombing campaigns of the Second World War and survived a fire in 1992. It is a popular tourist attraction, a venue for hosting state visits, and is the main residence of Queen Elizabeth II since 2011.

Jackie, didn't I see recently that Queen Elizabeth has switched to living at Windsor Castle now?

Good morning, everyone. It is a cold morning here today, at 25o currently. Hope everyone is doing well.

Yes, the queen moved to Winsor after having it fit with a special elevator because she has mobility issues and finds it difficult to do stairs now.

patricia19

Thank you Bubble for that explanation. It put some items I already knew or surmised, into perspective.

Precious photos, Beverly.

Beverly

They do "mile marker" pictures these days!  :)

The twins turned 7 months old March 18th.

Beverly

I've been reviewing some of the photos I missed. Wonderful! I'll be watching for more. It's like taking a trip around the world.

Bubble - I love watching Aviv grow up.  He's such a handsome young man. I've seen one of my granddaughter's hair change to every color of the rainbow!  ;) She even decided to shave her head once.  :o  She was a hair stylist for years but stopped because of back and leg problems. She's now the mother of a baby boy and I wonder what life has in store for her!

Marilyne

Bev - Such adorable photos of the twins! ❤️  It looks like baby Beverly, resembles her namesake?  The brown eyes and hair, and of course the smile.  :)  James has a serious, thoughtful expression on his face.  Both so cute!

patricia19

Bev, adorable great grand babies!

so_P_bubble

I love those baby pictures, so cute!  I always wish they could remain a little longer this cute and adorable.  But of course each age is fun and it is interesting to see how they open and react to the world..

Shirley

Absolutely adorable, Beverly!  And I'll bet everyone says "little Beverly" looks just like you, ready to party!  James is so serious and will spend his whole life watching out for his wild little sister! Such fun to watch them grow up. I'm sure I asked but can't recall what you said... are they mirror twins?  My twin aunts were so always had to sit next to each other the same so they didn't bump elbows. Seems like they should be older than 7 mo. Been a strange couple years. Thanks for sharing, feel like we are just having a visit with a close friend/neighbor instead of someone we've never met.  :smitten:

Good for you! Cases are rising again in Europe. My second booster (or 4th shot) will be on the afternoon of April 24th.

MaryPage

Oh, how wonderful!  Thank you, Rammel!

It is my understanding (which does not mean it is right) that boy & girl twins are "fraternal" while same sex twins may be fraternal, or may be identical.  Mirror twins are identical with one having everything on the opposite side of the other, including the left-handed, right handed part.  Even the circular swirly thing on the top of the heads!
