Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Posting a photo I have from previous year, taken at the Reenactment of The Battle of Ft. Henry, here during the revolutionary war   The other photo is one of several racing boats that will be here today.   I am now home, time to get some grub and settle down for football.

Great photos, Jack, such beautiful color!  Mimi looks every bit the lady, doesn't she?  How about a string of pearls around her neck?   :)

Jack my Boxer is getting more attention than the law allows from my cousin who is staying with us for a few days.  And I think my pup is getting exhausted from all the petting and playing.  Vet said she is now 11 years old and she is showing her age.  Gray as a can be.

jackwv

Hal, I had that with Jessie.  At 15 she just slept and the occasional walk, but loved peoples attention.  Getting old is no option, just hope for good times for them (and us)

...those re-enactments are fun, I once went to watch them...

Cloudy skys but no rain and 70 degrees.   Lots of color and with fall flowers coming.

The weather this week is just perfect.  It looks like the hurricane will miss us but won't know for sure for a couple more days.

jackwv

Jean pray you are passed but looks like a real threat to so many.

Lindancer

Jean, I am still watching the weather your way and praying.

This is another picture taken, with my son Mark when he came home from the hospital from back surgery.  Tiny is setting on the couch, with her feet on the floor.

Funny name for a big pup, can tell she was part of the family.

Lindancer

Jack, yes she was really part of the family.  I still miss her.  the Vet. could not believe she made 12 years when we had to put her to sleep. Because her back legs finally gave out.

In the picture Mark had just came home from the hospital and she wanted to lean against him.  He had been in a gym show, and the catcher did it catcher was not able to stop him when he fell on his back.  That is why the laminectomy on his back at such a young age.

FloridaJean, I am watching the weather coming your way, and praying.

Rain on and off all day.  Talked to my daughter on the phone at 7PM, thought no walk today.  There was a break in the rain so headed to the park.  Late so let Mimi run off leash and took a few photos.  Pretty sky following the rain.

Gloria, it looks like those of us in Niceville will not have to worry about this monster storm, but we are praying for others who will be suffering thru this.  We have had four different relatives call and tell us we could stay with them.  It's nice to have them call and be concerned, but I'm glad we don't have to worry about it----at least this time.

Ah, now that is a winter scene.... love it but know it can cause havoc.  Beautiful shot, Don.

Jack, gorgeous sky & love that Mimi got to run free.  She is such a sweet girl.  I happened to be in MO one year when they were all dressed for a battle, little town at the end of a river where big boats had to turn around & go back downstream.  MO, being a border state, was fighting all directions.

Linedancer, that is one tiny pup.... NOT!  My son has a Great Dane & his vets tells him they only live about 8 years, this is his 2nd & like all of us, our pets are family.  Handsome son, so sad about his back.  I have a gr-daughter teaching gymnastics & "extreme cheerleading" now that she can't perform anymore.  Her main job is as Industrial Engineer for an aircraft company.  She had her share of cracked wrists & ankles... and then the bout with thyroid cancer at about 30, had one baby before & had another since.  So far okay.

Glad to hear you are not getting a direct hit, Jean.... my daughter in law's brother thought they were okay until this last change, so they are hunkered down & having to stay.  Be safe, & come let us know after the hit so we can quit worrying about you.  Got to get moving~~

Mary Ann

Beautiful snow pictures, Don, but I'm not ready yet.

Don like a good snow fall, but can do without the work shown in the 2nd photo.

Beautiful day today and following football I took Mimi for a long walk at the park.   I had the camera with me.  Only one good eye but spotted some deer in the distance.  Below are a photo from where I was standing and just below the center you might spot the deer.  The second photo was with full zoom on the camera.  A bit of a blur since no tripod and holding on to  Mimi.

Shirley

Jack, your "one good eye" beats both of mine!  I looked & looked & had to guess where you spotted those deer.  I can't even pick out the exotic trees in the background.... striking lines & texture in the close up.  Neat shot.

I just got a photo of my brother celebrating his 92nd birthday, was thinking about posting it, he is in great shape & very active for any age, but especially for 92.  He was delighted that Irma pushed their daughter, her husband & their son into escaping FL & flying to KC to celebrate with them. I plan to make it to his 100th.

One more check on cats, Tiger & their mama wasn't waiting at the door for their last "snack" of the day.  I am a little early but got up before 5:00 this morning & no nap at all.  Won't need anyone to rock me to sleep tonight.

jackwv

Trees starting to change, early fall?   Still horrible news out of Irma.   One thing interrupted the coverage, they were showing 9 11,   now 16 years.

SCFSue

We're having lots of rain here in Auburn, AL.  My son came over yesterday while I was at church and took my deck furniture apart and stored most of it in my utility room.  Also moved my trash can under the eaves near by side door, so I am fairly well "battened" down and am just hoping no fallen limbs from the wind hit my windows.  However, those kinds of things are replaceable and I will replace them if needed.

If you are in the path of the storm, I hope/pray that you will be safe.

Sue

Mary Ann

Sue, I hope all you get is rain with no strong winds or flooding.

Mary Ann

FlaJean

We weren't impacted from the storm at all.  We did take the chairs off the front and back porches and put them in the garage, but we didn't have any wind.  We are about 140 miles west of Tallahassee and in the central time zone.  My daughter's in-laws live in Miami.  Their condo has storm shutters and they were fine.  They lost power for a few Hours.  We were glad to hear that because they are not well.
