Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Great photos Shirley, now you need an avatar.

Shirley

Gripe gripe gripe!

Somewhere on this computer I have those old avatars.... not tonight. I can't stand looking at my face anymore.   :uglystupid2:   :crazy2:

Thanks, Jack....

JACK WV.....
...a perfect setting and a perfect tribute to your two darling furbuddies.....they are now at rest with each other side by side...As I have previously mentioned to you, I love your choice of photo urns, I am now looking for them for my soon to be, three dogs ashes if two can be transferred from their now boxes...it will be so much more comforting to see their photos attached at the front...Jack you have really done them proud...

so_P_bubble

Shirley, these are great photos.  Now it seems that I have known you for a long time! :)

SHIRLEY....
....weren't we devils with our changing hair colours?....like you I have gone from natural blonde to auburn reds to dark browns.... not forgetting once trying to home bleach my then dark hair leaving a greenish tinge that I had to go re-colour back to dark....this may have been because I had it permed..... Must say you look very glamorous in your first photo with longer flowing hair....

Nowadays I leave my hair colour to mother nature....at least condition wise, I believe it is the best it is ever been...

angelface555

Jack, that is a nice memorial corner. I have four sets of ashes in wooden boxes and three seven-inch bowls with their photos lasered on. Plus so many, many photos!

You did good I like that hair style in the second photo. I tried colouring my black hair also.wanted it red. Did manage to get a dark auburn .not bad. I just leave it alone now .sort of 50/50 black and gray. I wanted silver but won't  happen.

Now my aviator is just 6 months back with a selfi. The grey doesn't show up on it for some reason.
Now your last photo here would make a good one. Do you have it without sunglasses on?

Beverly

Shirley - So pretty and without a trace of the tomboy!  :)

angelface555

It is funny how these things evolve in discussions. A chance remark about a person's photo from way back when, the person confused, believes it is about the avatar rather than the photo of a younger self, and everyone is off on another tangent.

Why not make another folder for something concerning all these ideas separate from the present day folder?  Throwback Thursdays, wedding photos of ourselves or our parents, children or past husbands, ancestorial family photos, daguerreotypes, tintypes, etc., past pets or animals such as the friendly chipmunk from the Lake Louise bash?

There could even be a separate photo conversational folder so that folks could ask about basic photography issues.

I just got this picture today...My daughter, Lauri, and her family. It's not often they are in the same place at the same time.

In back, Colin, 27 and Brynn, 25. In front is Tristan, 20 and Shea, 24.

angelface555

Very nice family photo, Beverly. They have their mother's smile with the lift on one side!

Could you clarify a bit?  ?  ?
People would have to distinguish that discussion from the other photo/image discussions.

What a beautiful family,  Beverly.   Thanks for sharing them with us.

Rick, I was envisioning something similar to Computers Q&A, very basic. That was why I put in conversational rather than simply photos. Something like clarifying the use of thirds or  not posing your subject in front of a tall pole or bright and shiny object.

RAMMEL

I'll ponder that for a while and refer it to "the top" for comments and/or approval.
Is there enough ongoing chatter to create a separate discussion ?

Let's toss about a tempting title (name) for the suggested discussion. Also, what group should it go in?

How about --- (add, correct, comment to the below)

BEVERLY.....
.....such a lovely photo and how lucky you was to have captured them all together, as you say..." at the same place at the same time..."...such great smiles...It must have been a special moment for mom too, being all in one place with her...

Beverly, a wonderful photo.  Good looking and happy family.

Patricia, there is a board "Talk About Photography"  HERE which has never been opened.  If you have a particular subject you would like discussed, please let us know and we will see if it generates enough interest to be worthwhile.

There is a topic "Gatherings and Meetings" HERE which is being used for relative photos.

I am guilty of "going off on a tangent" everywhere I post.... my brain works that way, sorry.  I know we've had other discussions brought up to stay on the subject but I don't make the rounds.  Someone mentioned hair color so I dug out old photos to show the natural black, the dyed black & the "who cares" white.... all were Old Photos.   ;)

Beverly, I was searching for your daughter & couldn't tell anyone old enough to have such a nice looking family.... and then read the ages & see your daughter is not in the photo.  None of them look to be even 20, darling kids!

Beverly

Shirley - My daughter Lauri is going to love you!  :)  She's front and center and she's 57 years old!

Your pictures are right "on subject"! The title of this discussion is Photos Old and New. I suggested we all put photos of "the way we were" and love seeing all the old photos.

Thank you all for the nice comments on my daughter and grandchildren.

Shirley

:roflBig: :roflBig: :roflBig:  Beverly, I am absolutely rocking this chair... went back to check the kids ages & did not see one "older than the other".... and then I counted 5 (yes, five) people in the photo!  Lauri is a doll & she still doesn't look old enough to have grown kids!

Remember when we did the "guess who" back years ago?  I thought that was fun but maybe we haven't seen as many up to date photos of too many.

My computer just went dead again.... did it last time I got on, rather while I was off it didn't stay asleep but when I got on a few minutes ago it wouldn't wake up & I had to let it find the internet connection again.  Wonder if it has to do with all the cyber problems happening all over...  :tearhair: :noway:  :creepy:  :ghost::peepwall: :surrender:

so_P_bubble

Shirley I have had that connection problem the whole day/  Very frustrating!

Jeanne
I have been enjoying Gatherings and Meetings as a forum for older SeniorNet and Seniors & Friends forum  photos. I was simply remembering older forums we used to have such as Grandparents or families.

I was making comments that since the discussions went from subject to subject, why not have a site for them? I didn't know there was an unused Photography discussion. I was in no way criticizing anyone's comments, only suggesting  or asking about new sites.

Shirley

Haha, Bubble, I think entries are closed is why I didn't go take a photo of the bird clock.  Yours is a cake-clock, we don't call a watch a clock, do we?    :dontknow:   I don't wear a watch anymore since my FitBit is always right.  I will check the heading to see when dates are up.  I am trying to get my life in control & these gadgets are winning.  Had son try to show me how & why I have trouble sending photos from my cell phone.  At least is did pull a few of it's tricks for him as well.... but he knows what each little mark means & I have not memorized them.  All things should use universal icons & when something changes it should have to come out in a different color & glow.  mutter-mutter-mutter....   off line again!  Panasonic Lumix FZ 70

Bubble, I called Cox to see if there was a wide outage but "not in my area"...... I had already unplugged the router & modem twice with no response.... but while I was talking to the Cox tech help it came back on... but NOT THEIR PROBLEM~  Maybe not but how about world wide?  My brain needs a rest.  Better post before internet goes off again (oops, not sticking to the subject... I am teasing you, Patricia)  Keeping us on the subject is like nailing jello to a tree & a few other impossibles.   ;)
