Title: New theme
Post by: Oldiesmann on January 19, 2024, 01:29:42 AM
Installed a new theme for the site, that conveniently works perfect with the existing logo (I didn't plan it that way - I just saw the theme, installed it and decided I liked it enough to keep it the default). This theme also has built-in dark mode for those who want it (click on the sun icon at the top to the right of the notification icon) and color variations (click the paint icon at the top right; "Default" is kind of a blueish green). Let me know what you think and whether I need to fix any of the font sizes.

I cannot find the button for "unread post" or "Notify".
I find it annoying that quick reply is the default and I have to click "user actions" to get the normal reply button which is what I always use and which I need to post graphics.

Disregard the comment about the normal reply button: it came back, I am much relieved.  But I miss the ease of unread posts showing. Might it be in my settings?

I'll look into adding those links back to the theme at the top. In the meantime you can click "Show unread" in the user block on the left to get there

HELP!  My screen is now black and difficult for me to see.  I don't have a sun at the top to click on.  I can't find anything?

Marilyne..
...can you see a paint palette type logo top corner, if so click on that, it drops down a menu of choice of page colour backgrounds, pink - blue - purple etc...

I think we better go back to the Christmas Theme.

I cannot find the button for "unread post" on "Unread Topic".  If this continues we will lose some of the few we have left.   -----   Where's Lloyd?

Jackie - I tried to respond to your message, but I no longer have the  "Reply" option.  I don't have a paint palette logo?   I agree with you - I'm too old to deal with a complete change like this.   :yikes:

Marilyne --- Is there not a "Quick Reply" box below the post you are reading?

Sent you email

Rick - Two options have always been available to me to reply to a post.  One is just Reply, and the other is Quick Reply.   They were both at the bottom of the message I am replying to.  I now see there is a "Quick Reply" at the TOP of your message, so I clicked on it and it works, but there is no plain REPLY, which I like better.
I agree with you, in that this new set-up will chase away some of the very few members we have left who still post in S&F.  :(

I can't find Unread Posts, either, and can't find what Oldiesman said to click for that.  Reply is still available but I agree with Rick and Marilyne that we'll lose occasional posters - probably including me!
Don't see Messages, eitither

I found most options, including see unread, in the user box to the right.

However, I don't see the option to "like" a post or to see if your posts were liked.

I agree that we'll lose posters.

Click the moon icon and it'll go back to the standard light mode.

The reply option should be at the bottom of the page either by itself or in a "user actions" menu if you're on a mobile device.

The "unread" link I was referring to is in the user block, which will be either on the left near the top of the page or below the quick reply box and Random Image block depending on the size of your screen. I'll look into adding them back to the top this weekend.

The "Like" option is directly above the message to the left of "Quote"

To get to your messages click the icon to the right of your avatar at the top of the page.

The "User Block" may not be showing. To turn it on click on the  tiny left + sign at the top right corner. It's hard to find. I don't usually keep that on(showing) so didn't have an "Unread" link. In either case it does not show below the "Quick Reply" Box.

Clicking on the + sign doesn't work if you are in the process of using the Quick Response.
       Maybe it does.

I think its unanimous, we were all happier with the way it was before...

The user block shows below quick reply on mobile devices assuming you don't have it hidden. I will look into adding the unread links at the top this weekend. It shouldn't be difficult to do at all.

Added the "Unread Posts" and "Updated Topics" links back. They're at the top of the page to the right of the sunshine icon. If you don't see them, hold down the CTRL key (or CMD if you're on a Mac) and press R to force your browser to reload the page from the server rather than showing you a cached copy.
