----------CHUCKLES----------

Substitute Teacher

Walking through the hallways at the middle school where I work, I saw a new substitute teacher standing outside his classroom with his forehead against a locker.
I heard him mutter, "How did you get yourself into this?"
Knowing that he was assigned to a difficult class, I tried to offer moral support.
"Are you okay?" I asked.  "Can I help?"
He lifted his head and replied, "I'll be fine as soon as I get this kid out of his locker

I can't be sure, but I think we owe today's lovely graphic to Phyllis.

Janie and Shirley.....  may this old Girl Scout join you on your camping trip?  Of course, at this point we need to arrange to take along my oxygen as well as tent, sleeping bag and maybe folding cot....  I think I still have a couple of buddy burners someplace, too, and some sit-upons...

Good morning everyone..

Overcast here and light drizzle..
As a child we went camping ,Dad would set up the tent along with two other families and then the men would head back to the city to work. We loved every part of camping, even staying inside the tent when it rained. Later on it was cub camp for me but I would have to get up early go home hand milk the cow and head back to camp in time to help cook the breakfast......that too was a fun time!

A day of rest here...will do a whole lot of nothing, maybe sit and hand sew the binding on a quilt and we may have friends pop in to pick up some chicken that I got her for their dogs ..they love their dogs too! We also have VON to come and disconnect the chemo bottle.

Shirley, there are days that my get up and go has got up and gone, leaving me behind..

Jeanne Lee, love the graphics...so sweet. Spring to me is a time of miracles with all the births going on.

Lloyd, good morning to you..

Time to get ready, I slept in and I am lagging behind..
Enjoy your day everyone.

That's right, Jeanne Lee.  It's one of my old, old ones and my name is on it, though it is pretty faint.  Thanks for posting it.

I've been up since 6 a.m. and have spent my time this morning trying to clean up several stick drives.  I hope I haven't done more harm than good.   ???  I have probably deleted a lot of stuff that I'll look for later and wonder where the heck it went.

Sun is coming up and it's supposed to be warm.  Rain is promised for later.  No big plans for today but I would like to get to the library.  I hate being without a book to read.  But, I have a few on my Nook so I can always rely on that.

Amy, sitting in the tent when it rained was special, too - just not the entire camping trip.   ;D  And be very careful not to touch that wet canvas, or it would leak where it was touched.   :o

Hi everyone.  It is another cloudy day with a 20% chance of rain but we will be in the 70's again this afternoon.  Pat will not be going to Sunday School and Church with me this morning as is in a lot of pain.  I had a very pleasant surprise yesterday afternoon.  I had tuned in to the golf channel and then thought it might be on CBS so turned there only to find the Division II National Basketball Championship being played and there was my Alma Mater playing and they won the National Championship for the first time ever.  The football team has won 4 of the last 8 National Championships.  This was a nice achievement for Northwest Missouri State University from which I graduated in 1962.  There were about 3,000 students there when I was attending and they now have 6,500 students.  Division II is for the smaller Universities. I did watch the two Division I basketball games played last night and will watch the last two that are on tonight.  This will establish the Final Four teams to play for the Division I National Championship.

June, that rumble in your tummy when you eat must be a band playing a welcome to the food.  :)

Shirley, glad you enjoy the camping so much.  I was never one thrilled with camping but know many people greatly enjoy it.  I saw Jenny's picture in Facebook.

Jenny, glad to see you had a pleasant trip home.

Jeanne, thanks for getting us started on the new week.  A very pretty and appropriate graphic that Phyllis made.  It reminds me of the mother bird that is sitting on her three story nest up in the corner on the column on my front porch.  This is her third season and each year she adds a new nest on top of the old.

Since I wrote such a long postings yesterday I am just going to wish all have a good day. It will soon be time to leave for Sunday School and Church.  On the way home I will stop and get Pat a fried chicken and I will probably have a sub.

Jeanne Lee, my Dad made sure we didn't touch the canvas that was a definite no no! We would go fishing and bring what we caught back to Dad and he would fillet them to have later on the camp fire cooked in the cast iron pan.

Phyliss, I love your graphic, thank you.

VON came and said it was slippery in the driveway so I sanded and put some ice melter down.Still lightly raining out..

Good Morning Jeanne, and thank you for the great opening of our brand new week. Bis would be So pleased with all you do for us.

I must not dawdle today, we are scheduled to sing at Chapel today and must be there a little early.

Phyllis, a lovely graphic it is ! Thank you girl.

Larry, I am sorry your Pat is is more pain this morning. Is there nothing she can take to help her enjoy life a bit more ? Pain is such a thief of what life should be like. I like the thought of my angry stomach noise being a band playing…good one !!

Amy with your weather being as it is, I hope you can stay tucked in, with plenty of wood in the wood box. We don't want you out slipping and sliding on hidden ice.

Time for me to get things rolling here…we will be chatting again later, God willing. Big Morning Hugs all around. June

Good morning everyone, I had a check disk scheduled ad it started when I booted up this morning, tooked hours for it to run, maybe because it was a few weeks since I had done that. The day started sunny but the clouds have taken over. Rain in the forecast at times till Wednesday.

LARRY  I have read that freezing fruit improves the flavor.  I still have some blueberries and strawberries from the farm last summer. I was used to getting a 3 month supply of my meds but now have to get them every month. All of them were transferred at the same time but it takes them a week to get to all of them. They call to let me know I have one to pick up and I call and ask to have it delivered Takes a week to get them all.  Of course it works better for my son who no longer has to get them for me. Glad you liked that Redneck list. Got them from a friend.

JUNE  my son has been pruning his trees but doubts there will be a crop again this year because of those caterpillars denuding the trees last year. We all forget things. I find I have to make notes about everything these days.

SHIRLEY  I like the eye rounds, they slice so good for sandwiches later, I think chuck roasts have the best flavor. Like you I enjoyed camping all those years ago. My daughter uses oil paints but wants to try water paints. I think what she is working on now is a covered bridge. She has been making cards lately when she has time. With her she gets so much detail in her work that she wants to make sure everything is dry before she starts the next layer or gets her hand into the wet paint and messes it up. It is also how she was taught. I still enjoy watching Bob Ross on local PBS channel on Friday nights. She has used some of his tips in some of her paintings, instructor asked where she learned the different technique and she told her watching BR. She had never heard of him.

JEANNE  LEE  thanks for the new week and the chuckles, that is a cute one. Love the graphic for the week. I remember making those Sit Upons back in the days  I was a girl scout leader. Newspaper and plastic bags can be used for many things. I think the graphic is by Phyllis, she does some wonderful creations.

LLOYD  good morning. Hope you will take it easy today and just rest.

AMY  one thing I likes about camping was little clean up time and meals were simple and always tasted better. I woke late, too. Was awakened during the night with flashing lights. Got up and looked out and the rescue truck was here. I did not stay up to see it they took someone out. Hate to see that ambulance come here. At times it is only because someone fell but at others they take someone to the hospital.

PHYLLIS  there is something about your work that always is different. Your name is faint on it but without seeing the name I knew it was yours. I picked up 2 books from the library down stairs and am half through one already.

JEANNE LEE  we had a cabin tent so plenty of room for the 5 of us on a rainy day. I always brought games and things to keep busy with if we had rain.

AMY  freezing rain us no fun. The rain we had yesterday froze overnight and I could see ice-NOT frost on the cars this morning.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Well I was going to church this morning but, after getting up and shaving and taking my shower I was not fit to do anything.  Don't know exactly was the problem just absolutely exhausted.  I finally went back to bed and just got back up feeling somewhat better.

Any old how, when I a youngster I didn't know there was anything else to do but go camping on the lake or river.  Loved it.  Had a couple of uncles that always went with us and one loved to cook and take care of camp, Uncle Bill.  And he was a good cook.

I am going to cut this short, talk to you later.

I'm back from Church, changed into more comfy clothes, and will go down for lunch in about an hour. Our choir did well on our first hymn, the second, I was disappointed, in myself. We really do need a lot more practice, but for the ages we are, I should be thankful we do as well as we do.

Our guest preacher today gave us all a book that he authored. He has written fifty books and been on innumerable Missions around the world. I sure love living here. We meet so many wonderfully good people that are still…at an advanced age…doing things for the love of God.

It was cloudy when the morning started, but the sun is shining brightly now. This will be a quiet day at home…lots of reading and rest. No programs scheduled. I will probably do my monthly shopping order at Von's, and have it delivered tomorrow…another quiet day..things scheduled, but nothing I care about.

Gloria, I always like the Chuck roasts best of all. To me they had a deeper flavor, made wonderful gravy, and the meat was tender. I hope Mother Nature overcomes the danger the caterpillars did last year and your son has a bumper crop of apples. I noticed we have an abundance of a black caterpillar crawling across our sidewalks. No fruit trees here so they must like something else.

Hal, I'm sorry you missed Church this morning. I know it means "Sunday" to you to be in attendance. I find too, that I must listen to what my body allows. I have missed three Sundays, due to pain, so it was a treat to be back today. A passage I read today gave me the assurance that I should be in attendance. I will post a portion.

"Waiting on Me means directing your attention to Me in hopeful anticipation of what I will do. It entails trusting Me with every fibre of your being; instead of trying to figure everything out for yourself. Waiting on Me is the way I designed you to live: all day; every day. I created you to stay conscious of Me as you go about your daily duties."

Hal, so it tells me NOT to depend on what I should do, or always do, because it is Sunday, or another special day. But to leave my day in God's hands and follow as best we know how……one step at a time, one minute at a time…whatever is necessary at the the moment. It gives us another new Freedom…to let God be in charge, not us. I hope this helps.

Good late afternoon, on a raining cool day.

I am just marking my spot. I had another mild heart attack, last week, and have been in Stony Brook U. Hospital.  I was in CCU a few days, then moved to the 15 floor for another few days. I had a lot of email to read, now I have come in here. To see how my cyber friends are doing. I did not want to go to that hospital, as in up west end of the Island.  I did not know they were taking me there, one one ask.  We have a good hospital in this town.

Thanks Jeanne Lee, for getting us started loved your graphic also, Phyllis.

Larry sorry to read that Pt has so much pain.

I am very tired, so will see you late.

Hopeing to see how Joan is doing.

GloriaD, I'm so sorry to read about your heart attack but glad you got good care & back home.  Maybe it is not just "an old wives tale" about needing to thin our blood in the spring, I know I have taken more aspirin lately than ever before.... only blood thinner I use.  I am my own doctor, wonder if that is as stupid as being one's own lawyer....?   :o

T-storm going on right now, big line running west of Wichita moving east so may be a while.  Cats are all in & my son is home from his Boy Scout camp out.  His son is no longer a scout... made Eagle, but Andy keeps his CPR certification updated to help the boys earn that badge.... besides, he loves to camp & enjoys the boys & other fathers/leaders.

Hal, do hope you feel better tomorrow, any chance you might be anemic?  That can slip up so easy, I read an article about more than 50% of over 65 are anemic.

Larry, sorry Pat had such pain today.  Tell her I'm sending a big hug & hope tomorrow is a good day.

Got the chuck roasts cooked & put just a few potatoes in.  Fixed some gravy with the "drippings" & hope I can find a place to put the whole big bowl in the freezer.  Tonight I will slice that eye of round & tenderize to freeze it.  I put it in little Ziplocs & put the whole bunch in a bigger freezer Ziploc so I can pull out any amount I want.  Been eating more chicken than beef & my body complains, not enough of the B vitamins in chicken. http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/health-advantage-beef-over-chicken-8898.html (http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/health-advantage-beef-over-chicken-8898.html)

Well, that was a quickie storm!  Already past and sun is shining.

Gloria de, my wonderful friend. I have been wondering where you were. Thought maybe the weather had you closed down. I am SO sorry to hear your heart was not being what it should be, and that you had to be hospitalized where you did not want to be. If you do not have close family to help you in cases like this, it may be well for you to have an attorney that can process a Power of Attorney for you. He could have it in writing, notarized, and when you are not capable of speaking for yourself, he would do it for you. Better if you had a relative that would do it, along with the attorney. My son has this for me, plus my attorney, in case something would happen to my son. It is not that costly, and it gives you rights when you cannot speak for yourself. I pray that you will heal quickly and be back home soon. I love you.

Tisie, ummmm. it smells good just reading about all the beef roasting away. To make it even worse my Santa Cruz son wrote that he was making a pork stew with all sorts of good veggies and wine for flavor. Your weather was perfect for all the warm cooking you did. And I just finished my reheated ham and sweet potatoes left over from lunch….plus a nice big slice of coconut cream pie. So I shan't complain.

The sun has gone to bed and it is getting quite cool, so I will close some windows, take some walks in the hallways, then get ready for bed and book.

I pray you all have a peaceful night, and a happy healthful tomorrow. More Hugs, Love and Prayers, always, June

June, thanks for your words of encouragement.  I do try to ask each and every day that he direct and guide me each day.

GloriaD. I am so happy that you are out of the hospital and doing okay.  It was a shock to hear that you had been in and out of hospital and with a heart attack no less.

Tisie, I would think that the doctors would catch anemia as many blood test that I have, seems like they catch everything else.  But today was a humdinger, I think I could have slept all day long if I had let myself.  I felt pretty good when I got up and then after shaving and showering I felt like I had been pulled through a knothold backwards,.

We went to my Granddaughters for supper tonight and met their new dog, a special  breed that now escapes my memory, I think the shock of what she paid for it shook me all over, 1500 dollars.  Some people.........

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's raining in Central PA and I slept poorly last night.  I was just very soundly asleep and my cell phone rang jolting me awake with the "WHAT'S WRONG!" thought running through my mind.  It was the power company reporting an outage in my area affecting almost 900 customers.  If they called all of them (even automatically) it must have taken a lot of time.  They said that they would notify us when it was back on and they were predicting 4:30 a.m.  I turned off the sound on my phone and tried to sleep again.  The result was those weird dreams that I have every time I try to go back to sleep.

Oh well, all's well now.  My kitchen clock says the power was back at 3:56 a.m.  If it hadn't been for the call, I wouldn't have known it was off until I saw the alarm clock this morning.

I hope Everyfriend has a lovely day filled with exactly what you wish for.

Amy, my weather dogs were damp this morning also.

Hi everyone on a bright and sunny South Carolina Monday morning.  It is already in the mid-60's and headed up into the low 80's this afternoon.  The only thing on my schedule today is my noon meeting.  I may stop on the way home to fill the car with gas and pick up an item or two at Costco.  I sure enjoyed the basketball games yesterday afternoon as both of the Carolina's won their games and are now in the Final Four next weekend.

I have a couple of links to share with you this morning.  One of them will really make your day as it features dogs and the other is a short performance probably like nothing you have ever seen.  I hope you will enjoy them:
     Puppy Power:  https://www.youtube.com/embed/SJoE_lNQdHU
      Unique Brass Band:  http://www.wimp.com/brassband/

June, Pat takes a muscle relaxant and half a pain pill and those help a bit but don't eliminate the pain.  She said a little bit ago that the pain wasn't as intense as it was over the weekend.

Gloria, reading your comment about freezing fruit made me realize I forgot all about the frozen fruit I fixed yesterday with my special machine.  I did have a cup of it yesterday and it is delicious.  There is nothing added to the frozen fruit so very healthy.  To bad your drug store can't get its act together and consolidate your orders.  What is a cabin tent?

Hal, sorry to see that after you prepared for Church you were too exhausted to go.  You sounds like my wife in that showering and fixing her hair wears her to a frazzle.  Hope you had a better afternoon.  That is certainly an expensive dog.

June, glad you were able to participate in the choir as it sang yesterday.

deAngel, sorry to see you have had to be back in the hospital with another heart attack.  I knew you had commented about not feeling well.  Sure glad to see you back posting but be easy on yourself and get the rest you need to recover.

Amy, hope you get a positive report on your dog today.

JaneS, your power company calling in the middle of the night is ridiculous.  If a person is sleeping it wakes them up and if they are not sleeping they are probably aware the power is off.  It is sort of like the weather bureau issuing a freeze alert that send you a loud message in the middle of the night.

A good Monday morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND!

Thank you, JEANNE LEE, for starting us a new SS page to gather in, and the chuckles.  I, too, like your graphic, PHYLLIS.  THANK YOU.

Still no news about Our Joan.  Continued thoughts and prayers for her and the family.

GLORIA de, I am sorry to read about your heart attack and hospital stay.  I do hope you are feeling much better.

GLORIA, it makes me sad to think there will be no apple crop again this year! 😪

SHIRLEY, I also enjoy reading about your cooking as you prepare your food for your travels.  As you know,  I have enjoyed your yummy beef first hand, and know it is indeed very tasty.  Glad Andy still goes to teach the CPR to the scouts.  My grandson is working towards his Eagle and enjoying every bit of the training.

HAL, hope you are feeling stronger today.  As Our June does, you have to listen to your body and if you are too tired you just have to give the ol bod a rest!  How is the car repair coming along?

LARRY, thank you for the puppies and brass band.  I will look at them as soon as I am done here.  Appreciate you sharing them.  I do hope Pat is more comfortable today.  Thank you for your comment about our nice trip....we did indeed have a wonderful time.  I got the bags unloaded yesterday and the washing stack ready, but did not feel like getting started on it.  Maybe today.  We really did not have as much laundry as we had a washer and dryer there and kept up on it.

AMY, so good to know that the incision on the golden girl is looking much better.  I hope the vet agrees at the appointment today.

JANE, I am sorry they woke you up to tell you your power is out!  That certainly seems unnecessary.

JUNE, your Sunday sounded just about perfect.  I am happy for you, and hope your Monday is enjoyable too.

I am feeling a bit down today..... and was yesterdat.   I think that is normal after being away and is a combination of being tired and sad that it is over.

Have a good day.

Jenny

Oops!  Looks as if I forgot to check in for the new week.  Had to go searching for it this morning.

JaneS,  if you have the app for automatically getting emergency alerts, your phone will ring no matter what the time is or what the "emergency" is - including Silver Alerts or Missing Child Alerts.  More than likely it's a robo call that goes out to everyone who has the app....which is why I don't have it.

Plan A was to do laundry and go out to do a bit of trimming and feeding in the "pot garden".  Haven't done either one yet.  Lazy Me!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Merry Monday.

Hi Everyone.  Just as I finished typing in here, the power went off again and it just came back on.  My neighbor gave them 3 hours and then he called them.  The lady said "We have no projection as to when it will be back.  The problem is in the HIGH LINES where they come over the mountain."  It has been back on for about 20 minutes now....just long enough for me to make coffee and drink a cup.

Callie et all...I do have that app and my neighbor across the street has it too.  He does not get calls.  He gets text messages.  I'm going to change mine.  I want my phone nearby and I don't want it turned off because of family being scattered and I want to be available for them.

I had my shoes on and was picking up my purse to go out and do some errands and pick up coffee on my way.  I didn't have to go.  The lights came on before I got to the door.

GloriaDe, please take care of yourself.  I'm so sorry you had to spend some time in the hospital.  And everyone one else, please take care.  You are all my extended family and I care for you.  I know I don't say it as often as I should but I think it every day...several times a day!

Good morning everyone, another rainy gloomy day. This month of March sure has been fickle.

HAL  I have had days like you had yesterday. Got up and the coffee going, then shut it off and went back to bed. Hope today you feel better.

JUNE  I got a grocery order last week. Ordering online is easy, it is putting every thing away that is hard. Those black caterpillars we had last year stripped maples, oaks and even some pine trees. Not just fruit trees.

GLORIA de  sorry to read about your heart attack. Maybe the hospital is better with heart problems? Take care of yourself.

SHIRLEY  at the first sound of thunder I shut down my PC and TV. You make me jealous with all the cooking you do. I can hardly get my breakfast cooked anymore.

HAL  yikes that is a lot of $$ for a puppy.

LLOYD  putting your foot in your mouthâ€"good thing none  of us can do that.

AMY  at least you found a way to get the antibiotic pill into your Golden girl. It is pouring here this morning. I love yellow turnip-period. I know the longer carrots can stay in the ground the better the flavor. We all miss Joan and will be happy to see her return to us.

JANE  like you I would not like a call at that time of morning. I would wonder which family member was ill or in the hospital. It has been raining here all day.

LARRY  I love the second one-the brass band.I had seen the puppy one before and loved seeing it again. Thanks.

JENNY  makes me sad too to think of no apple crop again for my son. He still has to take care of the trees and spray them. The chemicals have more than tripled in price since he started.

CALLIE  looks like my daughter will be like you and have a “pot” garden this year. She figures this year will be experimental to see what will brow there. The soil is clay so will take time to have soil to plant in. One of their neighbors has goats and a big compost pile. They will do some swapping with him for a pick up truck load this year.

My CNA  has been here and just left. Do not think it ever took me so long to do a post, bout 4 hours.

Good Monday Morning dear hearts, already afternoon in the East. I took a needed shower and shampoo this morning, and honestly, doing a simple chore like that is getting to be like major surgery. I have to "prepare" for it..like place a bath towel in my walker, before starting to shower, so when I finally step out I can collapse in the the walker in order to dry myself off. Then comes the need for skin lotion and special leg lotion for these poor old discolored legs, and feet. by that time I am plopped down in my recliner and recovering. I have cut my straight hair to just below the ears, so no need to fuss with that..a comb will do it. Old age is NOT for sissies.

Gloria, I never did order my groceries for the coming month. Been eating downstairs more regularly and less at home. I think your daughter is wise to test the soil by pot gardening to see how things react to the clay soil. Bet she could Google "clay soil planting" and get some good hints.

Jane, is it weather conditions that are causing your power outages ? If so, it is pretty "iffy" as to when it will be repaired. Is it wide spread in your city ?

Callie, my Merry Monday will be a nice slow plodding along. But so very thankful that I can do what I do, and be here to complain about it. I have no other plans for today…one hour at a time.

Jenny, Sweetie, it does take time to readjust after being away and in a different environment like you were…must be sort of a let down not having that cute pup to care for. I'm glad you are safely home though, so just take it easy for a few days.

Larry, I am happy that your Pat is feeling better today. With these bruised ribs I can associate with her problem. I don't hesitate to take my double strength Tylenol when needed. I was assured that it is O.K. to use it as directed.

Amy, you were so wise to use the peanut butter as a coating for that pill. I can see where just the odor alone would entice her to swallow it all down. I miss our Bis/Joan too..so very much. Her health is so fragile and she does so much for us in spite of not being strong, and always cheerful..never gripes or complains. I pray God heals her up very quickly and completely.

I have run out of chatter, so I will go take a walk, and get ready for a noon time lunch.  ;)

Good afternoon, still raining. this will be short. I am still very tired, and average getting 3 hours sleep each night.

thanks Amy, Hal, June, Larry Jane and Gloria. Hope I did not leave anyone out.  all your messages mean so much to me.  As I have said before, you are my family.   My neighbors also have been great to me. I am feeling better. See my doctor on thursday.
Yes Sontybrook  is a very large Hospital, next to the U.. It is know for its heart unit. It was no one told me that I was going there

I do have to tell you, I got a bill for 6 cents, from Target. Thought you might need a bit of humor.   See you all later.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Feeling somewhat better today, took things pretty easy this morning and lay on the couch most of the morning.

I am not sure what our weather is going to do and I am not sure the weather guys do either.  Possible t-storms, sunshine this afternoon, possible rain showers tonight and tomorrow possible severe t-storms, so Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, your choice.

Jenny, don't take car in until the 10th of April and then they will take five days to repair so they say.

June eating downstairs sounds like a good idea to me.  You have some company at mealtimes and I am sure better nourishment than a quick/easy meal you prepare, if you are like me.

Gloria, your son more than likely loves messing around in his orchard and a good crop is an added bonus.  When I lived in Del Rio I had a very big yard and had eight peach trees; also, a plumb tree, but didn't have a mate for it so it never had fruit.  But I was always messing with them and believe it or not people were so lazy they wouldn't come over a pick the fruit when I offered it for free.  I tried to get my girls to pick it and sit up a little stand in the front yard and sell it for pocket money.  No way..

Well I hope everyone has a great day.

Gloria de, I didn't realize you were writing from home, I thought you were still in the hospital. I hope you have someone to check in on you.

Hal, I usually go downstairs for the noon meal. I prefer to have my breakfast at home, and always have a supply of food on hand. Today I had enough lunch that I brought half of it home. Turkey melt on Sour dough bread, soup, fruit salad, v 8 juice and residing in my little fridge is a butterscotch Sunday, so you can see I am not starving. We never lack for company here, Hal. No matter where one goes there is always someone to chat with. I had an orange tree in my back yard that would go wild with huge, juicy, sweet oranges. I would put a box out by the mail box, and the neighbors and "walkers" would just help themselves. Those high in the trees would end up on the ground.

I had a nice long nap after lunch, now I have some pills delivered to swallow down, then I am going for another walk-around.

To Gloria...
I am sorry to hear that you have had yet another heart attack....   but glad to hear that you are on your way to recovery...

It has been a rainy day here on the rocky coast of Maine.     There is still a little bit of snow on the ground,  but it is quickly melting..
I hope that this is the end of our real Wintry weather

All is well here.  I had a nice visit with Kelly,  Madison and Fe today before going to Good Will and then on to do some grocery shopping.

Have a good evening,  Everyone.

Gloria D.  Wishing you a complete recovery after your heart issue.  You are important to us.

Tisie - Shirley:  Just a minute - I think you wrote that you are YOUR OWN DOCTOR!  Hmmmmm yes, that is like being your own lawyer, if I may say so.  Wish you could have my very practical female doc - she is one of the top docs in the state and gives me hugs.  HUGS to you - please take care.

Sandy:  Did you find anything at Goodwill?  You would like the local thrift store here - almost everyone is a volunteer and profits go to local needs.  Nice to visit with family, isn't it?

June:  You are very wise to plan your daily routines - gentle hugs your way too.

We are trying to prime and paint outdoor furniture and it has been windy - too much so we can't work on it for another two days apparently.  Well, Don does most of it - I take care of everything else.  A couple we really don't know well from back home is leaving a week early from here - she is bored.  I refuse to take offense as we have had them over and taken them all over about 5 plus days out of this month.  She is just a real go-getter, always biking, etc. and her husband is not well, very slow in walking, etc.  She sent a note that she was bored and they are leaving but did thank us for taking them out and having them over.

Hi Callie!

Thanks for any information on Joan.

Good Morning Everyone!

Lloyd, are you sure those twins are kin to you, they are awful pretty.

Janie, hope you have/had a good day with lots of smiles and thank you's.

I am up this morning early, well earlier than I have been getting up last few days and feel almost human.  Hope it last.

Amy hope you and hubby have a good day out, maybe a good lunch thrown in to boot.  And the weather cooperates.

Callie, hope you got some work done on you pot garden.  You do know pot gardens are the best kind, no weeding hardly and easy to care for.  And I am sure you know this, but tomatoes make great hanging baskets, only takes about half a bushel of dirt.

Coffee is about ready, anyone want to join me.  Wish Joanie was back home, she always was ready for a cup of coffee and some good conversation.  Get well soon, Joanie, we all miss you and your company.  I will keep the pot on for you.

Hi everyone on another nice morning.  Once again we are expecting to get into the low 80's this afternoon.  This morning Pat has a doctor's appointment to discuss the results of her MRI and what her next steps may be.  Following that I plan on going to the Church for our Adult Fellowship monthly meeting.  We have a lady coming to talk about butterflies.  That will be it for today.

Jenny, hope you are feeling more "up" today.  I think it usually takes a day or two on returning home to get back into our normal routines.  Hard to believe your grandson is now old enough to be working on his Eagle Boy Scout work as I remember so well when you feared you would never have grandchildren.

Callie, the alerts on my phone are not that often so don't mind the alert noises, other than in the middle of the night.

JaneS, I think it is a good idea to keep your phone turned on as you never know when you might need it to call for help.

Gloria, I think I am having one of the days that you described when my energy seems to have left me.  However, I will keep going until this afternoon when I get home from the luncheon.

deAngel, no wonder you are tired if you are getting only three hours of sleep each night.  Glad to see your write that you were feeling better.  Do you nap during the day?

Hal, glad to see you were feeling a bit better yesterday and even better today.  It sounds like you have a lot of different weather prospects to select from.

Carol, over 20 churches in our town combine to run a Thrift Store and provide food and assistance to those in need.  It is also staffed with volunteers although pretty sure the director is paid, as she should be as that is a lot of work.

Hope your gallivanting is very enjoyable today.  Nice that your husband is feeling up to doing so.

Lloyd, those twins are beautiful.  Thanks for sharing the pictures and thanks Jeanne for posting them so we could also enjoy them.

Good Morning Everyone from the cool but bright rocky coast of Maine.    Still waiting for the warmer weather but of course,  this is what Spring is usually like here in the North East.

I enjoy "Good Willing"  and "Thrift Shop Hunting"...  What I can pass up are the purses...    I am hooked on purses.     And I managed to get me another one yesterday..    I like them soft, over the shoulder and big enough to hide my collapsible cane,  to free up my hands as I peruse the isles.       And there is always a ton for me to look at!

Lloyd ...  Those Twins are gorgeous!!!!    Thanks so much for sharing their pictures....     How very,  very special ..

Have a good day everyone..

Morning everyone, another gloomy one here, this dampness is not kind to these ole bones. Don't want to do anything except lay on the couch and watch TV. Now that is being lazy for me.

JUNE  like you taking a shower is work these days. I now wait till my CNA is here, leave her to cleaning while I shower and dress. Every time the nurse comes she asks if I can still shower and dress myself.  I cannot imagine me needing  some help for that. A neighbor offered then a truckload of compost, that and some soil will be used to fill the pots.

GLORIA de  that 3 hours sleep is way too little. Hope you start getting more than that. Not raining here right now but very foggy.

HAL  love those weather people with their possible this or that. Even with all the equipment they have these days we might as well go by the Old Farmers Almanac. My son had 1 plum tree but a storm toppled it, he also has 1 pear tree and only 1 golden delicious. I always get some of those. His older son has helped him over the years.

SANDY   at first I thought you were talking to me till you mentioned the heart attack,  there are 2 Glorias here, Gloria De and me.

CAROL  some people are never happy where they are. At least she did thank you.

JANE  miss your morning greetings.

AMY  your hubbly must feel pretty good to go out galavanting. Enjoy the drive.

LLOYD  have a good day. The twins are adorable, love those sunglasses.

JEANNE LEE  thanks for the links.

LARRY  I am home most of the time so no reason to have no energy. Have not been able to get out for a walk either with all the rain we have been having.

Hope we hear more on how JOAN is doing

Happy sunny Tuesday morning everyone. We gather together, again, Thanks be to God.

Amy..have fun galavanting girl. It is good to hear your husband wants to get out and go.

Lloyd, I didn't get in to say Goodnight either. Some days there is just no energy left by nightfall. I know I was really weary and the bed kept calling my name.

Janie, I just know you will have lots and lots of smiles, as you give them out first of all. I wish you energy as well.

Jeanne Lee, thank you for posting the picture of the adorable babies. My, they do grow so quickly. And those smiles are so heart-warming…on the parents too !

Hal,good news that you are feeling chipper today. Enjoy ! Bis always welcomed your cup of coffee Hal,and I know she would love to be able to do so now. God willing, that day will soon be here.

Sandy, I too used to enjoy the Thrift Shops. We never knew what we may find that we couldn't live without. I still have apiece of carnival (?) glass that I keep hard candies in. So many fun things that I have had to leave behind with each move I make.

Gloria, I could have help with a shower here too, but I want to keep doing as much as I can while I can. By the time I have made my bed and dressed myself, I have to lay down and rest and catch my breath. It really wears me out. You are wise to shower when your CNA is present..I had a nasty fall about a year ago…I fainted in the shower.

I have two things to do today, a food meeting, and then on to Balance and Mobility (the later may or may not be taken...depends on what the body says) Now it is time to stretch out on the recliner for a bit, and then a nice walk around the gardens.

Lloyd: I would love to twin sit - they are darling.

Gloria:  When you mentioned a neighbor offering compost, that reminded me of a neighbor saying the same for my garden.  Only, I discovered they dumped fresh manure and all my crop died immediately.  Still, I thanked them but never took them up on their other offers again  :D  Yes, it was crazy.

We struck out going on a road that was so crooked but on that road we were entertained by deer!! We watched them frolic together for a while then carried on. Stopped for a bite to eat in a restaurant and lo and behold a friend and her hubby came in so we had a good chat. At 10:15 hubby was ready to turn around and come home..he slept part way and is now laying down.

Larry, get got in before the appointed time and Dr was pleased at how the incision is looking now. We have 10 more days of antibiotics and that sound do it. Hope Pat hears good news today.

Jenny, hope your feeling a lot better today..

Hal, good to hear your feeling better....we did have a meal out and I had bacon, egg, toast and homefries with onions in them...bet I am going to pay for those onions but gosh it was good...

Gloria, I like just about everything as long as it is cooked.no sushi for me...and cook the wiggle out of my fish too!! I have been making smoothies..I had bought some salad fixings at Costco with kale, brussels sprouts etc but we didn't care for it. Into the smoothy it went, I know it is good for you and I hated to just waste it .

Jane ,hope you not only have smiles at work but some hugs and giggles too!!!

Gloria de, hope your feeling a lot better too today..

June, it was a nice outing..and now the fire is going and both dogs are curled up sound asleep..

Lloyd, beautiful grandaughters!!! Thank you and Jeanne Lee for posting them.

Carol, your fertilizer story reminds me of the time I was asked if I wanted pumpkin to make pies.......and I never said yes again either!

Enjoy your day..

Good afternoon, still raining.  I am yawning, did sleep a little late this AM, but watched Show Boat, at 2AM.  I love the music, I could close my eyes and listen to the music, I have watched it so many times. One of my favorite shows, saw it on Broadway beautiful sets. 7th row center.

Thanks Sandy and Carol for thinking of me. I feel a little stronger every day. I did not have any of the procedures the doctors wanted to do, no more invasions. At 93 let me just gently enjoy my life. I am so lucky I have great friends and neighbors.

Larry, hope Pat had good news.
Amy, so happy to read, your husband like to go out.

Hello all!  I'm home from work (lots of smiles, a couple of giggles but no hugs today).  I've chased the dogs out in the rain twice, fed them, fed me and my eyes are at half mast!  I think I'll stretch out on the couch and see if they go the rest of the way closed.

Lloyd, I always zero in on twins because I raised a set of twins.  I love seeing them and I always wonder if the "twin things" that happened with mine will happen with them.  As everyone else said, they are beautiful!  Can you tell them apart?

Amy, did she give you a whole pumpkin?  Not only do I buy a whole pumpkin for myself, I have to send one to Texas for my daughter.  Seems they don't grow the ones my dad swore by when we were growing up.

I'm off to the couch to check out my eyes and see if there are any escaped zzzs down in the cushions.

Have a good rest of the day!

I went down to return some books to our library and ran into a program I have never attended. It was wonderful. Beverly Bender is the speaker. She had us standing, sitting, laughing, and having a marvelous time. I felt five years younger. She suggested things like, "when you stagger into the bathroom in the morning, look in the mirror, and tell your self how great you are. Give yourself a big hug and laugh. And laugh some more. I'm going to give it a try. She calls her program "Laughing for the health of it". And you know what ? it works. Give it a try kids.

When my friend asked me about a pumpkin I said yes, well she said can you take another one? Bear in mind I thought we were talking pie pumpkins..tiny ones.so yes I could take two.......then she said well I only have one more to get rid of do you think you could use the 3.....hmmmm.
When they drove in with their truck I thought something was odd........here I could see pumpkin sticking out over the top of the box!! They had brought monster big pumpkins, you know the ones you see at the fairs. Well I did pumpkin down, I gave pumpkin to anyone and everyone...the hens got some and so did the cows!! When I cut into one  at the top the meat was about 7 inches thick!! We did have a lot of laughs over that  though and we did eat a lot of pies, breads and muffins!!

A post to share from Linda, regarding Our Joan.

My mom is continuing to improve. They're planning to move her to Kindred Hospital later today or this evening (visiting hours 8am-8pm), where they'll work on weaning her off the ventilator and she'll have physical therapy to regain her mobility and strength. I'm flying out tonight to go back to work for a couple days and then will fly back to Melbourne again at end of week; Edward will be here with mom in the meantime. Thanks to everyone for the continued well wishes.

It's good to hear good news about Joan, even if she isn't getting better as fast as we'd like.  I remember she was in the hospital a long time before.

Amy, I wanted to try making a pumpkin pie from scratch.  I did not like to peel the skin off, but I had a mission.  I finally had enough to cook, which I did.  I had enough for three pies.  The first one was so pale and tasted that way so when I made the second one, I put in molasses and that did the trick.  It looked and tasted better.  But that was the first and last attempt at a pumpkin pie from scratch.  It wasn't worth it as it's so much easier to use whatever they use for pumpkin from a can.  I have a favorite recipe - Libby's.

Tom's been busy with the funeral for his friend, now one today (small, just family) for the son so he hasn't seen his twin granddaughters for a while.  Both are home now so he said we'd go to Holland to see them either later this week or next.  Lloyd's great-granddaughters are darling, so alert.

Mary Ann

Good Afternoon,

Good to see the hopeful report on Joan.

LOL at the pumpkin stories!

June,  what a delightful program you "happened upon" - "right up your alley", as the saying goes.

Gloria,  hope you are continuing to feel better after your heart attack and hospitalization.   I once heard that EMTs here will take ambulance patients to whichever hospital has space available in the ER and ICU.  Apparently, someone could end up on the opposite side of the city from where they live.

Larry, hope Pat got a good report.

Hal,  not much to do with the "pot" garden.  The daffodils in the flower beds have all stopped blooming so most of what I did was trimming those stalks back so the greenery can develop food for the bulb to use next year. I've heard about growing tomatoes in hanging pots - but I suspect the birds would think the 'maters were just for them.

After such a lovely afternoon yesterday, the sky is gray and gloomy today - and there's a sharp northeast wind.  Predictions are dire for stormy weather tonight but people I've talked to today think tornadoes are unlikely because it isn't hot and muggy.  We shall see.

I was dreading the appointment with my tax accountant this morning. Surprise!   I don't owe anything to the IRS or to the state - plus the refunds will cover all but one estimate payment this year - and that one isn't due until next January.

Between that appointment and other errands,  I haven't even read the headlines in the morning paper.

Off I go.....

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere has had/is having an Enjoyable Day.

There were some zzzx left on the couch and my eyelids made it all the way to closed!  I feel refreshed and ready to finish the day.  I've made dog food for the next 3 days and the dogs now think it's time for supper.  I told them to bear in mind that today was a work day and we had a late lunch so we'll wait a bit for supper.  I'm going to make it easy and take one of my homemade dinners out of the freeze and warm it up.  I'm not sure what it will be but that makes it even better.  I purposely don't label them so I'm surprised each time.

About the pumpkins...if you get a can of pumpkin that lists the ingredients as "pumpkin" and that's all, it's OK.  However, they do not use the kind of pumpkin that my Dad told me was the best.  And if any of you ever decide to do a real one, get a "crook neck pumpkin".  I'm not sure that's the official name for them but that's what Daddy always called them and they grew them on the farm when he was growing up.  Also, don't peel it first!  Cut it in pieces and put it in a large pot with  3 or 4 cups of water, bring it to a boil and simmer it until it's soft.  It's a heckofa lot easier to peel after it's cooked.  Or, if you have a larg roaster pan, you can do the same with it in the oven only use less water.

Amy, I've never seen a pie pumpkin that big.  I wonder what kind it was?

Mary Ann there are round pie pumpkins that come in "yellow" or "white".  You must have had a white one.  The do look a bit bland.  I don't like the flavor either.

I think that's all I have to say on the subject of pumpkins but if I think of something else, I'll be back to bore you some more.

Enjoy your evening!  And take care of YOU!

Jane, the pumpkin I had was one bought to display or be a jack-o-lantern.  It was so many years ago that I don't remember.  My dad died in 1970 and he was alive when I made the pies.  I am sure I cut up the pumpkin then cooked it, then peeled it.  Even so, it was a job.  I wanted to make a pumpkin pie from scratch, did it and won't do it again!!!  I had the experience and was pleased with the results, but once was enough.

I have heard that what we buy as pumpkin is not really pumpkin, but squash and I don't know what squash is used.  I buy Libby's pumpkin and put in various spices, eggs and milk and that is that.  I haven't made any pie in recent years and especially since Tom is here, I don't cook.  Tom does.

From the time I was 8 or 9 years old, I started saying that someday I was going to have twins.  That year, for Christmas, I got two dolls dressed by my grandmother in outfits alike except that one was dressed as a girl and one as a boy.  Since then, I've wondered if my grandmother knew something the rest of us didn't.  My twins are....TAH DAH! A boy and a girl!  No trouble telling them apart on the outside but their hearts and minds always operated together.

After Christy was married, she lived in Montreal, Canada and she would call home frequently.  One day she called and we talked for a while and she said, "I just wish someone could come here or I could come home for a visit!"  That afternoon without knowing about the phone call, her twin brother would come racing in the house and calling to me..."Don't count on me for supper.  I'm going up to see Christy!"  And off he'd go.  It was as if he needed to see her as much as she needed to see him.  I always said it was their hearts talking to one another.

Things like this were happening all the time in their lives.  They communicated without ever having to say anything.  I'd always heard this was true of twins but seeing it for myself was a gift in itself.

Jane, it will be interesting to see our twins develop.  They are not identical, but as both parents have red hair, the twins also have red hair.  The babies are both home now, about six weeks after birth.  Johanna came home about a week before Eleanor.

Janie, my Mother was a twin, her twin was a boy.  And when my Granddaughter had her ultra sound and found out she was going to have twin boys she came directly from the doctors office to my house and when I answered the door she was crying and telling me it was all my fault since my Mom was a twin and I didn't have twins and her contention was it had fallen on her (my brood was the skipped generation) and got her.

She had a terrible time with her boys, one born autistic because of oxygen deprivation.
Good thing she had a good employer who gave her off several months because of her health issues while carrying them..

Good morning everyone..

Great to hear good news on Joan.....

This is not a good day for hubby, one can only hope it gets better. Cleaning today  then picking up meds and out tax papers. Callie, I sure hope we get the good news you did!!

MaryAnn, I didn't peel my pumpkins, just cook and put in the blender and you wouldn't know the peel was there other than it gave it a good colour. If you look at the pumpkin in cans you can also see they don't peel them either.

Jane, high of 50's would be nice right about now.

Good morning Lloyd ..
Enjoy your day everyone..

Amy I have told everyone here I have a juicer. for those that do not like the peals it dose a good job of separating and gives very good juice. another thought is can either put the pulp in good veges soup or in a compost pile for there garden and or flowers. one time or the other i do both. I put the pulp some times in soup and sometimes on the compost pile, but never put the peal
off of oranges through the juicer. i put them in the garbage pail that goes to the compost pile. i have 4 raised beds i mix it in them. have a great day.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well we got some boomers early this morning but didn't last long and I am not sure how much rain we got, not a lot I'm thinking.  I haven't checked the rain gauge this morning.

Lloyd, the twins are doing good, the one with problems is in a program at UTSA that is helping him in his social skills and he seems to be responding well.

Amy hope your hubby gets to feeling better.

Not much on tap here today.  Need to balance checkbook and get a haircut but not sure I want to get into the checkbook.

Hope everyone have a great day

Hi everyone.  It is another clear and beautiful morning and we are once again headed up into the 80's this afternoon.  I am awaiting the delivery of my new recliner in an hour or so.  You can now follow the schedule of the delivery truck and there are pictures of the driver and helper, which I think is a very good idea.  Before I came into my office to eat my breakfast and work on these discussions I decided to get the sausage muffins made and into the oven so Pat will have them for subsequent breakfasts.  She alternates between the sausage muffins and strawberries and loaded scrambled eggs and strawberries.  This evening is our Wednesday night dinner and we are having grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and all the trimmings.  There will not be a Wednesday night dinner next week as it is Master's week and about everything seems to stop around until the golf tournament is over. The rest of today should be pretty laid back and restful.

We did get in to see the doctor yesterday and the news from the MRI was not very good.  Pat has spinal stenosis up and down her spine with some areas worse than others but about all of her spine involved.  He told us that steroid shots are probably the only treatment that might help as there is likely too much involved to try to fix with surgery.  So we will see the pain doctor at the Neurological Clinic as soon as she can get an appointment.  It was too late to get to the Church for the Adult Fellowship and luncheon so we stopped at Cracker Barrel, which was on our way home and had our main meal for the day.

Sandy, glad you enjoy thrift shopping.  I like to do a little of that myself on occasion but since we stopped collecting paper or hard back books quite a few years ago I seldom find anything that I need or want there.  Do you have a large collection of purses?

Gloria, I usually get up in the mornings feeling good but it seems to be downhill the rest of the day as my energy goes away.  That is why I try to get things done in the mornings and get appointments in the morning when possible.

Jeanne, we can never have too many prayers offered on our behalf and need to remember to pray for others and to express our gratitude to God for the blessings he gives us and the trials.

June, I find making my bed to be a very tiring thing to do and it usually leaves me a bit breathless.

Amy, it sounds like you had a very nice and peaceful outing.  I am with you in not liking kale or brussel sprouts.  Pat bought a big bag of kale and fixed it once and we decided to dispose of it.  It even clogged up our food disposal so no more kale in this house.  Pat does like brussel sprouts. I see when your friend offered pumpkins she really met PUMPKINS.

deAngel, I have never seen a Broadway Show but have many of the musical scores and we had a professional theater company when we did live and had season tickets one year, which I really enjoyed.  They did Les Miserables, which is my favorite show, and a Christmas Canteen Show Musical plus some dramatic plays.  They have nice facilities in Augusta and bring Broadway type shows to it but not likely we will ever attend due to the walking involved and Pat's back discomfort.  So will settle with listening to the music.

Jenny, glad to see positive news regarding Joan but it sounds like she hasn't been able to stay off the ventilator.

Callie, sometimes the anticipation of having to do our taxes is much worse than the actual experience and outcome.

Larry,  I am so sorry to hear of Pat's problem  with spinal stenosis ....   I hope that treatment at the pain clinic  will relieve her on going pain.

I unfortunately have many more "purses"  then I need,
but I can't seem to stop buying them...  If I really wanted to,  I could stop going to thrift and Good Will shops,    but that is my  affordable "pleasure" in life,  so I won't stop any time soon...      :idiot2:

The sun is shining, so it’s the start of a nice day.

Amy, I don’t think I’m going to make a pumpkin pie from scratch again, but it’s interesting to know the peel can be included.  I’ll bet the peel would improve the color because my first pie was about the color of lemonade.  For the other two, I added molasses and the pies looked much better.  I really do not do much, if any, cooking or baking now; Tom does it.  I hope your husband feels better soon.

I’ll add to the mention of twins only to say Tom and I hope to go to Holland MI this afternoon to see his new twin granddaughters.  They both are home and neither of us has seen them since they have been home.

Larry, I have a hard time making my bed too because of my arthritic right shoulder.  I have trouble putting the bedding  under the mattress.  I try to catch Annie when she comes, but sometimes she’s only here for a few minutes to talk to her dad.

Sandy, we don’t quit living or enjoying things just because we grow older.  I have an accumulation of purses too, but I can’t say I collect them.  Just over the years I’d see one I liked and if it was within my price range, I bought it.  When I was working, I got more use from them.  These days, I often take only my billfold and house keys.

Lloyd, I used to have some liquid sassafras for tea.  The tea was good, but I am not much of a tea drinker, so I don't have it any more.

Good Morning Janie and all……I have a ten o'clock program, but time now to come in and see how my cyber family is doing. We have 82 degrees scheduled for today, so I don't plan any thing vigorous. 82 is hot for me.

Amy, yesterday your guy wanted to go riding, and I'm glad he was able to have that day, even if it means resting today. As the song says, "one day at a time, sweet Jesus". I pray tomorrow will be better for him, and for you too.

Hal,how old are the twins now ? Does your Grandaughter live near by ? I pray all will be well.

Larry, I am so very sorry your wife didn't get a better report. I'm going to google Spinal Stenosis to learn more about it. My activities yesterday really wore me out, but at the same time it fed my pride to know I was not un able to join in on things. I too had to rest after bed making this morning..gave myself a whole 30 minutes.

Gloria, how I wish you could join me for a nice warm sunny day at Rowntree Gardens. I know you would welcome the weather and the quiet beauty of this place.  That would be such a delight to actually meet you my friend.  I feel once we get to "the other side", our wishes will come true.

Good afternoon, the sun is shinning.  We had 3 days of rain.  The paper said that this is the coldest March on record and the warmest Feb.

Amy, I am so sorry you husband does not feel well. I guess he will have days like that, but I pray they will be few and far between.

Larry, sorry about Pat has spinal stenosis, I have had it for years. My spine is also a mess the doctor said years ago.  I did go for pain Management for a few years, and the shots did help. I wish we had a Cracker Barrel here, my husband like to eat there when we lived in Charleston. He was from Ala. and they severed a lot of the food he liked. The closet one here in on the Conn.TP. None in NYS.

MaryAnn, I am doing Ancestry, and I found out my g.father was a twin, also his mother died in childbirth  at home, having twins. They did live. My neighbor is upset with Ancestry, as she sent for her DNA in Dec. to day she got a notice, saying she has to do the test again, as they could not get any results??I sent it in, in Jan.

Title: Re: Soda Shoppe 3-26-17
Post by: Mary Ann on March 29, 2017, 02:37:50 PM
Gloria D, there was an announcement on my DNA page that Ancestry had a backlog because of so many tests.  Annie sent hers in the day after Martin Luther Kind day in January and just got it, so hers took two months.  I'm sorry for your friend; I wonder what happened.  Not enough spit?  I'm anxious to talk with Annie to see where we go from here.  I think I'll see if she thinks she will have enough time to work on her genealogy and if she does, I'll give her a gift subscription.  I understand her mother has just recently applied to find her birth parents, or her mother, at least.  Her mother and mother's brother were both adopted.  The brother has met his birth mother and I think that has encouraged her mother to seek information.  Previously she had not wanted to make contact, thinking it disloyal to her parents, but her mother encouraged her brother to find his birth mother.  Annie's mother is divorced from Tom.

I'll be off for my night shift at Wally World at 5 today.  I'm enjoying the evening hours and I don't find them too tiring.  Actually, the lines are shorter and not as many people doing weekly shopping.  They move pretty easily.

I had an appointment with a volunteer at the Area Agency on Aging today about my medigap insurance.  It has gone up again and so has the co-pay.  Insureance is the most frustrating part of my life.  I wish we didn't need it and I wish it was a bit easier to understand.  Maybe I'm just too dumb to absorb it.  The gentleman who was helping me was extremely patient and I do understand some of it.  My daughter who works at the agency sat in on the meeting and asked some good questions that I had not thought of.  I can't make any changes until October so I guess I'm stuck with what I have until then and I have a thinking period to go through.

I wish you all a good evening.  Don't know if I'll be back in but I'll at least try to say "good night".

Need to tidy up and get ready for daughter in loves visit, it has been a while since she has been here for an over night stay. She has her daughter coming in later today to feed the fish and her Mom and Dad popping in tomorrow to feed them again. Tomorrow we are off to a fabric sale and need to be on the road early.

Larry, I do hope Pat finds some relief for her back.

Callie, we also got good news from our tax return

Gloria,I tried a new recipe yesterday, don't think I will do it again as it was so fiddley! You had to make 32 balls of of batter and the same of another only smaller then wrap one around the other.I would rather have an oatmeal or chocolate chip cookie.

Lloyd, I did have a juicer but gave it to my son.

Good Morning Amy...and anyone else who comes by.  It's going to be in the low 50s here today and that's a good sign that Spring is poking around ot there!  I am ready!

I was out day before yesterday cleaning up some of the corners and  it took me forever.  The leaves were wet and heavy.

Today I have to go see if my favorite gal can find my ears.  They seem to have disappeared behind a mass of overgrowth on my head.  I know she's there today because she was the last one to check out through my line last night and I asked her.  That and picking up The Little Hooligan after school are my only planned activities for today.

Make it a good day, Everyfriend.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well up early and getting ready to go to bible study and a breakfast snack with my fellow study group.

Bad day around our area yesterday.  A minibus and a pickup ran headon on US 83 just outside Garner state park and killed 13 people, all on the bus, which was returning from a church retreat located in the hill country.  They were from the 1st Baptist Church in New Braunsfels, just North of San Antonio.  The highway patrol was still trying to sort it all out at 10 last night.

My wife and myself along with oldest daughter and her husband went to the Texas Road House and had some ribs last night in celebration of my wife and I 65 wedding anniversary.  A nice dinner and great company.

Got to get.  Everyone have a great day.

Hi everyone on an overcast morning with an 80% chance of rain later today.  However, we will get back up to the lower 80's as well.  The morning will be busy with picking up and returning my friend from Assisted Care so we can have coffee.  Then I will return back downtown to the Church for our Thursday Wisdom Group.  I did finally get my new recliner yesterday.  They were about 2 hour late from meeting their delivery window but I was home anyway.  It just delayed my afternoon rest period.  We had a nice dinner at the Church last night and then Scott and Jennifer came out for a couple of hours.  Scott took my old recliner back to his house and it will be given to Jennifer's boyfriend, who is in the process of buying a home and has no furniture.

Thank you all for your concerns regarding Pat's back.  I know others of you are living with severe back or other fairly constant pain and can relate.  Other than occasional twinges by turning wrong I have never had back problems and feel very fortunate.

Sandy, as long as you enjoy shopping at the thrift and Good Will shops there is no reason you would need to stop.  I still enjoy wandering around occasionally in one.

June, glad you were able to enjoy some events there at Rowntree Gardens.  It sounds like you live in a beautiful place.

deAngel, I hope most of your cold weather is now past.  I noticed just this morning that the little Azazel bushes in front of my house are beginning to blossom again after the freeze killed off the earlier blossoms.  I was afraid their season had been ruined but there are many buds now showing.  The 80 degree days really have made Spring start early here this year.  The trees are all leafed out and I see dogwood trees now in bloom as well.  The Cracker Barrel always has good and plentiful food.  I found the meat loaf luncheon special was just the right amount and it was the feature for Tuesday, the day we were there.  It is half the amount served from the main menu with two regular sides and was only $6.

JaneS, insurance is expensive but very necessary although something we hope we never need to utilize.

Amy, how far do you have to drive for the fabric sale tomorrow?  Pat found out last week that one of the large quilt stores somewhere around here (she hasn't been to it) is closing as the lady who owned it passed away and none of her family want to continue it.  Hope you have a great time with your daughter in law's visit.  Glad you got good news on your tax return.

Lloyd, glad you are enjoying the juicing.

Hal, what a terrible accident and loss to that Church fellowship.  Congratulations on your 65th wedding anniversary.  Texas Road House certainly has good food although it can get pretty noisy when full.

Good morning everyone, I spent most of yesterday laying on the couch. My regular CNA was here and boy she sure can spoil me. Wish she could be here every day.

LARRY  I know just what your Pat is feeling, that is my back problem, too. It wasn't till I got this new doctor that did something for me like the MRI and the pain specialist. The shots have helped but I still have to use my rollator. At least I can stand up straighter now instead of bending to relieve some of the pain. I like my appointments about 1pm. Takes me a long time to get going in the mornings. I used to like being the first patient in the morning but those days are over.

LLOYD  when we had our house we had some sassafras trees, we would break off a small branch and just chew on it. Love the taste and the smell.

JUNE  when we cross over I hope we see many family and friends there, even the pets we loved. With 82° here it would be humid and I would be inside with the AC running.

AMY  your hubby is lucky to have a loving wife like you.

GLORIA de  it was warmer in December, January and February than March here. We have snow in the forecast for Saturday, the first of April.

JANE  since obamacare I think all health insurance has gone up. I know mine more than doubled.

AMY  I used to collect recipes that looked and sounded good. Now I no longer look at them. I love homemade oatmeal cookies and the chocolate chip ones, too. So much tastier than any one can buy. I always made a double batch of cookies, they never lasted long. Did you ever make ginger snaps?  Those I loved with a glass of milk. The recipes in the second link sound good. I still rather eat my fruit and vegetables instead of drinking them. Keep the kale, I totally dislike it.

JANE  I am so ready for warmer weather. Today the sun is shining but when I heard snow on Saturday I thought Mother Nature is going too far this year.

LLOYD  I love fresh cranberries and every fall cook up a few pounds and put them in the freezer, have some whole frozen ones in there, too.

HAL  I saw about that bus/truck crash on the news last night. Terrible. Happy belated 65th anniversary.

AMY  I have been seeing robins here for the last 2 weeks but is still does not feel like spring. My son told me he sees robins in the orchard in the winter.

I'm so jealous of all of you who have your taxes done already.  I finally have everything together and will drop it off for my son today.  He does my taxes every year and I always gave him everything around the first of Feb. and he never did them until the beginning of April.  He runs a TV and appliance business, coaches High School Girls Basketball, does taxes for about a dozen friends who have small or single owner businesses in the area and then he does mine.  So this year, I decided to give them to him when he will probably be able to do them.  This way, I don't have to wonder when I'll see the finished process.  He only has 2 weeks.

As soon as the dryer quits and the wash is ready for the dryer, I'll do that little chore and then I'll take off to deliver the taxes and get my hair cut.  Maybe I'll have a sandwich first!

I wish you and yours pain-free, happy days and lots of sunshine (and rain where needed).  Make today a happy one!

Good Morning all ! I have been awake since 3 a.m..no reason for it, just one of those things. I was so mixed up mentally that when the nurse brought my first pill of the day, I thought it was my bedtime pill. She must think I have really lost it….maybe I have.

Another message from Sarah Young, I felt was needed to be shared. From her book, Jesus Calling.

"I am taking care of you. Trust me at all times. Trust me in all circumstances. Trust me with all your heart. When you are weary, and everything seems to be going wrong, you can still utter these four words: "I trust you Jesus." By doing so, you release matters in to My control, and you fall back into the security of My everlasting arms.
Before you arise from your bed in the morning, I have already arranged the events of your day. Every day provides many opportunities for you to learn My ways and grow closer to Me. Signs of my Presence brighten even the dullest day when  you have eyes that really see. Search for me as for hidden treasure. I will be found by you."

Now I feel the need to go lie down and maybe catch another hour or so of sleep before it is necessary to start the day. Hugs and Love all.

I tried for an hour to grab some more zzzzzzz's but it didn't work, so I'll dress and be ready to face the day. We have choir practice at 1:30....I hope I can make it. Maybe lunch will give me the needed boost.

Good evening, the sun shone to day, but would you believe rain for the next three days.

i had my cardiologist appointment to day he said my heart is a little weaker, and this time there was a little muscle damage, but my BP was better, so we will just keep up with the medicine. If I do not want anything invasive treatment.  Which he said MIGHT help, but at MY AGE could do more damage. To morrow I see the primary doc.

Gloria, I saw my first robin this morning.   More rain, maybe a little light snow,!!!!

Hugs, to one and all.

Gloria de, I'm sorry you didn't have more encouraging news on your heart, but we will be happy it was not bad news. I feel your doctors are doing the best they can for you, and that is good news....they really care.

I backed off from todays activities completely and just stayed tucked in at home. Did get a rather short nap in earlier, but no real energy. Listening to what the body says.......

Love seeing the "random image" on my screen of you, SHIRLEY.  Great to see you with all the beautiful hair and that lovely face when you were a Jr. in high school.

HAPPY 65th Wedding Anniversary wishes to you and your Mrs., HAL.  Happy that you were able to celebrate with family and enjoy a nice meal together.

We have Grandson Luke here with us today.  He had two weeks off for spring break so we asked him to come over to stay and we would take him to the zoo to see our new little giraffe that was born a month ago.  Well, it is a beautiful day, and it seems every one else had the same idea. Drove there to find a total traffic jam!  Served our time in lines, only to find we could not enter the lot as the Zoo is at full capacity!  WHAT?  Oh well, Voodoo Donut is very close so we went there for a treat for our boy, and that made him happy.

A storm is moving in tonight and they predict it could be a bad one, so we are in for the night.

Have a good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

Jenny, I too have a Grandson named Luke. Mine is 12 years old, and I hardly know him, alas. A handsome boy, and a good boy. I have lots of great pictures of him, which I appreciate.

Hal, I would like to add my Congratulations also on your 65th. Wedding Anniversary. Ed and I had 62 years. Lots of memories for you and your Lady, as there are for me.

I had a good day at home. Very quiet, but necessary. I hated missing Choir practice, we have to do what we have to do.

I pray our Bis/Joan is healing well…I'm sure going through withdrawal from the machine is not going to be an easy thing for her, so lets keep our prayers going that God will see her through it all, and give her back to us hale and hearty.

Not sure when I posted, but I have read posts several times a day.  Sometimes we just get tangled up in our daily living and can't talk, I guess.

Jenny, every time I see one of those photos I wonder if they are just "my gallery" showing me. I've been so tempted to delete them but can't remember why I put them in there in the beginning since I hate to see my face show up anywhere.  I still check the Monarch Pass cam & the highway was bare today, had fresh snow yesterday when I looked.

Congratulations to you & wife, Hal, for 65 years of wedded bliss.... you seem to have had a great life together and all your kids close enough to visit often.  That is so special.  Many more happy years together!

Our robins never really went south this year.... we've seen them off & on all winter, lots of them rushing around building nests.  So far the egrets & herons are not back.  The city saw fit to tear down the trees they nested in so maybe they will move on, I hope not.  I am thrilled every time I see a whole flock of them walking along the banks of the river.  The red winged blackbirds are singing, makes me feel like I am out in the woods with a river near.

Spring is not my favorite time of year because of so much to do getting house, yard & pool ready for summer.  This year is worse than usual with the yard a mess waiting for the sprinkler people to fix & clean up their mess, and when that's taken care of I've got to get the pool cleaned up & when dry, get it painted so it can be filled for the summer.  Like with a nice yard, it's for looks & must be maintained.  I can't move or will have to have the cats put to sleep & as long as I am able to keep up, I will (and whine).  My try at running away this week & all the new problems with the RV has me really in a mood, but I keep reminding myself "how lucky I am".  But I'm not buying it tonight.   :tissue:

Do hope Every Friend has a better tomorrow, prayers, love & hugs to all.  God Bless All.... Shirley

I came in to say Good Night but I have to tell you first, Shirley.  I'm sorry you're in a bit of a snit tonight but I'm also relieved.  I thought you never got in snits.  You always seem to meet adversity head on and get on with things.  I, on the other hand, give in to the "snits" and get angry with myself for not being better at living life as it comes along.  Thanks for revealing your "humanity"!  Now I can say, "If Shirley can do it, so can I.

Hal, I'm a bit late but I think I neglected to wish you and your sweet wife a happy anniversary.  I do so right now.  And I wish you lots more!

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

Her mother would set hers up in the livening room every winter an hand quilt.
she would sew the patches into blocks on a old singer treadle machine.
Wish we had kept her old Machine. I bought Nancy a electric Machine.but would
have been nice to kept her mothers for a keep sake. Have a great day spending your money on the pretty material's.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm afraid everyone is sluffing off because our Joanie is not here to keep things rolling.  Can you imagine how she'd feel if she looked in and saw that only a few people posted in any given 12 hour period?  If you are there and reading, take a few seconds to say "Hello" so that if she feels well enough to peek in, she'll see we're ALL here waiting for her return.

I'm off to Wally World this morning.  Wish me smiles!  It's Friday and that can become a bit hairy but it's also going to be a rainy day.  We'll see how many brave the weather to shop.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend and let us know what you did with it!

Good Morning Everyone!

Not much going on here this morning, I have the coffee on and it should be ready pretty soon.  I still have to gather in the paper and look at the doom and gloom.  Local paper is getting so expensive, over 50 bucks a month now, and some days it is not worth reading.  But wife wont let me cancel it.

Amy I never did get around to balancing the checkbook, got to get out of this slump and get some things done.

Lloyd weather folks tell us more severe weather Saturday and Sunday morning, we did get just over an inch of rain out this last line of t storms.

Yard people are coming today, hope they have their hay baler for the back yard...weeds are getting high.  Used to be I wouldn't have let things get in this shape.

Joanie, get yourself well, this place is falling apart without you.  Dead-gum-it we need you back doing your job......Miss you lady.

Hi everyone.  The sun is now shining after a rainy start for the day.  It looks like the rain is over for the day.  I didn't get up until 7:30 this morning.  Today is going to be a catch up on rest day as have nothing on my calendar that should require me to leave the house.

Gloria, sorry that you also have the spinal stenosis and have an idea of what you have gone through seeing how Pat is suffering.  She found out yesterday that it will likely be at least 6 weeks before she can see the pain doctor.  Yesterday she was using the walker some here in the house and no longer goes out without her cane.  It sounds like your situation is more advanced that her but probably what she can expect in the future.  Glad you are getting some relief.  Pat takes a long time to get going in the mornings as well but has always been great in being ready in time for us to make appointments on time or leave at an agreed time.

JaneS, your son must work well under time pressure.  Does he use one of the tax preparation programs?  I have always done our taxes and have used TaxAct for years.  This year they about doubled the price but it is still much cheaper than hiring someone to do them for me.

deAngel, I think we have to expect our heart to weaken over time when we struggle with heart problems.  Glad you BP is better.  My previous cardiologist told me he didn't think I should have anymore caths unless needed to save my life if I have another heart attack.  Many years ago I was told that further surgery was not in my future due to all the scar tissue from the two previous surgeries.

June, I hope you are feeling a bit more energetic today.  Sometimes we just have to rest and not push so hard.

Jenny, what a disappointment.  I bet that baby giraffe is sure cute.  Nice you have special time with Luke.

Shirley, I don't think you have mentioned the new problems with the RV.  Maintaining a home is a constant concern.

Hal, that is a terrible price for the newspaper.  I am surprised they have any subscribers left.  I haven't had a newspaper subscription for years.  I find using the newspaper website satisfies my need for news. I do try to watch the National news each night on TV.

Joan, if you are looking in just know we all miss you and are praying for your recovery.

Good morning everyone, raining now but snow later.  20 years ago we had an April fools day surprise, 2 feet of snow. I am so ready for warm sunny days of spring.

JANE  with me I think this weather has caught up with me. All I want today. to do is sleep. I have told Joan before she is the one who keeps us together.

LARRY  for about 15 years I tried to get the doctors to help me and all I got was pain pills. I am so glad I now have one who listens.  After my first visit with her she set up appointments for me. It is not fun.

Sorry folks but the couch is calling.

A bit more positive news from Linda this morning about Our Joan.

Another update on Mom. She's now at a transitional care hospital in Melbourne where they're working with her to get her off the vent breathing on her own, and on her feet again! She'll likely be here for a few weeks. She's doing fantastic so far...they're very impressed with her progress. Of course we all know she's a tough cookie. She still has her sense of humor fully intact and Edward and I have been laughing with her, watching silly daytime TV and telling stories.  Thanks very much for your good thoughts.

Just getting around to posting something this afternoon.

I saw the message that Jane wrote about just stopping by to say "Hello".  So,  I am saying "Hello",

We all do miss Joan and her little stories and especially, the breakfasts.  Good to read the encouraging message from Linda.  Still sounds like it will be a while before she is back with us.  Thanks, Jenny, for relaying her message.

Joan,  if you are looking in,  good to know that you are improving and hoping to see you up and about very soon and back with us,

Hal, if you figure out how to get out of the "doldrums" , please let us know.  I get up in the morning with all these good intentions and by the time the day is over, I have not accomplished any of them.  I sure hope when the weather gets nicer, I will get back some of my
"get up and go".

It is a cloudy, rainy, dreary day here in Central Maryland.  Happy that we won't be getting any of the snow storm that is heading for New England.

Mary Ann, so happy that you got to see the twins. Will look forward to seeing their picture.

Have a good afternoon.

Joy

Good Morning all, My lazy mind does not want to start the day, it wants to sleep, sleep, sleep. However, I am always eager to see if there is new of our Bis/Joan. I pray her recovery is quick and easy.

Amy, I just know you are going to have fun day with your DIL. it is such a  lovely relationship you have with her. I have one like that also.

Good Morning to you Lloyd. You were fortunate to have Sam Walton as a friend. It is hard to have things change under different management..

Janie, I wish you many loving smiles, and courteous  customers. And joyful rest-periods.

Hal, Bis was always your "ready" customer for  that fresh cup of coffee. May God grant her healing and a joyful return to us , her cyber family. I haven't had a newspaper for years and years. With the t.v. and computer, there is really more "news" than I care to read.

Larry, I too will have a do-nothing schedule for today, and happy to have it. I rested all day yesterday so I plan to get this body out and do some serious walking, otherwise…the day is mine. I really lack any "push". just want to do enough to keep the body operating as normal as possible.

Gloria, I would be SO happy to exchange weather with you today. I love rain, and snow would be like icing on the cake….for one day. The sun is shining brightly and it will be about 70 for the day. I should not complain.

Jenny dear, THANK YOU !!!! That is the best news that we have had since our girl first got sick. She is progressing, and able to laugh with her family. YAY !!!

Joy, I am giggling...you get up in the morning with good intentions...that is a fair way to start the day.I got up with the intentions of falling back to sleep for the whole morning. It didn't pan out that way though. My housekeeper came calling at seven o'clock, so i had to get out of that nice cozy bed. She changed my bed and bathroom linens, now I waiting for her to return to clean the bathroom. In the meantime I'm still sitting here in my nightgown. Ten a.m., and shame on me. I am at least going to get presentable.

Larry, I am so sorry to hear that Pat has spinal stenosis, also that Gloria Z has it.  My pain is nothing like what they suffer; I can only stand so long without support but I can walk across the road and back.  Climbing the step to the porch is hard, but I have a railing by the step so I can make it OK.  If there is no railing, I must have help (such as last night at James’ place).

Larry, I have used Turbo Tax for several years and it costs $39.95 from Amazon.  I was happy to pay $49.95 at my supermarket, but Tom ordered it from Amazon for me this year.  My taxes are simple, but I do like the guidance of the program.  It probably is similar to TaxAct.

Jenny, thanks for the good news/bad news about Joan.  Bad because they expect her to be there several weeks yet, but good to hear she is improving.  June, it does not look like her recovery will be either quick or easy, but it does seem to be positive.

Joy, my good intentions for the day usually have flown out the window by the time the day is over.  I took all of the kitchen stuff from the linen closet the other day and sorted it.  I must dispose of some of it (Goodwill) so the basket is still on the living area floor.  Other more interesting things seem to take precedence.

Hal, a few years ago, our newspaper went to publishing three days a week and I subscribed.  I got a free subscription to the online paper too.  Eventually, I discontinued the print edition and read only the online edition.  It cost me all of $11 a month.  At one time, the paper quit sending the online subscription so I canceled that and now read my news online, only is isn’t the same version as the one I subscribed to.  After I bought a computer with Windows 10, I started reading the news in that program and it takes me forever to read what is there because so many article are so long, but they’re interesting reading.  The articles are not all politics, although many are.  The story of the bus accident near you was included and I had read about it by the time you mentioned it.  There is also a section for editorial cartoons and I enjoy that.

June, I also hate to get out of my nice comfortable bed.  If I get up early (about 5:30 or 6 am) I can go back to bed when I’m finished computing but if I wait until 7:30 or 8 am to get up, I don’t have that option.  Decisions, decisions.

I’ve taken up a lot of space here, so I’ll quit while I’m ahead.

Mary Ann

I'm home from work, frustrated and a little angry at the lack of communication between associates (like me) and management!  If they had one of those questionnaires out right now, I'd be downright critical of them.  Nobody seems to listen.  I've tried to discuss the same subject with at least 10 management type people and it still keeps occurring.

OK Shirley, how's that for a royal snit?

Hal, if there's any coffee left, I'll have a large mugful!
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe 3-26-17
Post by: Shirley on March 31, 2017, 03:32:36 PM
Ah, Janie, that snit won't go away until the sprinkler people LISTEN.  I get it now, what Rodger Dangerfield whined about "I don't get no respect"..... nobody listens to little old ladies.  I went out this morning & took photos of the muddy dug up mess they left, for weeks~~  I can't do anything else about it until they get the job done, I was in a much better situation before they came, at least I could run the sprinkler system & could have had the lawn crew mow & clean up leaves.

Larry, the day before I planned to leave (Monday) I planned to fill the water tank, it was "blown out"/winterized last fall so my son came to make sure all went as it should.  Got out the potable water hose & opened the faucets to let air out & to fill the hot water heater. As pressure came up water started squirting out around the shower head fixture, not faucets where it's supposed to.  So we stopped & Andy took the fixture all apart & found the cause of the leak was vibration... because the crack was on the top of the valve, if frozen it would have been the bottom.  A trip to the hardware store for their best advice of what to repair (no chance of finding that part in this town).

While that was "drying" he checked tires, when I had the Ford dealer order the metal valve stems that was missing in the tire that I had to buy 3 times, they checked all 7 tires & even bent the gauge Andy had bought to check the inside dual... so it would fit through & do the job.  One tire wouldn't read at all... we knew it wasn't flat but couldn't check pressure.  He took the hub cap off & found the bracket holding the valve stem in place had worked loose & would just let the stem move as it got pressure.  He tightened that, and decided he'd make a different type bracket after I get a trip in to MO.

There is an inch wide molding around the body where the RV body connects with the Ford chassis....  It shrunk up from sun & cold & had pulled out of it's channel on the passenger side.  I've read online comments about RV dealers/factories cutting that molding too short & happens a lot... I tried putting it back into the channels & it would not stay in the curve, I heated & stretched but it immediately would shrink back up & pop out.  The last time I tried to leave I even put several strips of matching color duct tape to hold it in place but it was flapping against the passenger window (tape & all) by that 47 miles from Wichita marker.   I called, checked online & found a couple places that was supposed to have it in stock (molding)... but they didn't.  I ordered from Amazon Prime & should be here tomorrow.  A gamble it will match so may have to replace the other side, too.  If it was just for looks I'd yank it off & go, but not sure if it is to prevent water leaking or what, & with it dangling, can't open the passenger door.  This elephant has had non stop problems & no more warranty on the Thor part (Ford still under warranty but runs great).  Now, aren't you sorry you mentioned my RV problems?

My bed is calling, because something was outside about 3:00 am that had the cat sleeping with me jump up & kept watching out the sliding door, totally upset.  She normally is so happy to sleep with me she never moves.  I looked, have lights that come on at dark & keep the whole pool area bright... nothing in sight.  We've had people strip the copper lines from the poles just outside the wrought iron fence, behind the whole street of houses.... twice.  I finally got up with Ruger in hand & went through the house, peeking out of windows & sliding doors as I went. I even turned the Ruger's green laser on that shines beyond the pool fence, hoping if anyone was still there they would take off.  Guess it worked because cat & I went back to bed after an hour & went back to sleep.  I had plans to get so much done today but sure is easy to excuse myself because I'm sleepy, maybe just lazy.

Best wishes to all in need, especially those painful back troubles. Hugs & prayers.

Thanks for the news about Joan, Jenny, I know if she peeks in she will be rolling her eyes & saying, "tsk, tsk"... at my long drawn out gripe about the RV.  Hurry back, Joan, we need you to keep us under control!

Janie, the coffee is waiting on the patio table.  You better hurry cause I am expecting my yard people to be here at any time.  I hope!

Shirley, bless your heart, I swear if I was you I would still go to your state attorney general and see if you cant get something done under the lemon law and I will go talk to the owner of the dealership where you bought that lemon and politely tell him where he could park that thing, and I don't mean on his sales lot.

Well Amy, I cant get the checkbook to balance, I think I have a double entry somewhere and I cant find it.  And of course my printer is no good (I just ordered a new one) so I cant print out my register and bank statement to compare till I get the new printer.

I have a question.  I think I know the answer, but why does the mail person come all the way to the door, ring the bell and leave the package in the entrance way but puts all the other mail in the mailbox so you have to make the trip out to the street anyhow.  I think, don't know for sure, because they worry the wind will blow the letters away, even tho they could place in under the package.  One mailman did leave all the mail in the entrance way.

JaneS I promos If you do a email not nasty but stern direct to Bentonville ark. you will get results and a thank you and likley some $$$ also.
I had a problem here local I went to the service desk first and they said they could not resolve it. I let the lady i was upset and was not going to drop  I it,she gave the 1 800 # and I called it and the girl on the line gave me the
email address and person to address it to, I got results and a $100.00 gift card. I said i was not after her job just a fixed attitude. I went back to that department and she was gone . I asked of her whereabouts they assured me she was not fired just transferred out of that department with a set of rules.
you know john q is always right , and instructions on how to bight ones lip.
I later seen her on the folor and made a point to ask her about what had happened, she asured me it all went well  and she learned something of it.
stand up for you rights girl. Have a great day.

Joy and others who might be interested, Jeanne Lee posted a couple of links to pictures of Norm's great-granddaughters.  I took the pictures last night (Thursday).  Go to Norm's Bait & Tackle and the links are about four or five posts from the end.

Another lovely day is drawing to a close. I had a nice long nap, then a nice walk around our gardens. The roses are all bursting with luscious flowers, the Rowan trees are filled with fresh green leaves...it is lovely.

Tisie, I agree with Hal. You have taken enough abuse from that RV dealer. You are driving a very risky vehicle, and it could be life threatening. A good attorney could take over your problem, and you would both come out with some $$$$ to recompense you for all the grief you have gone through. Same with the sprinkler people. To me it would be worth every penny to an attorney to get the proper recompense for all your grief and danger.

Joy, I am happy for you girl...sounds like you had a very, very happy day today, and you deserve it. Your DIL is so lucky to have you as her friend, and vice versa.

Tomorrow will be another quiet day for me. There are things offered, but I do not do shuffleboard, or play on the putting green, or play Wii games, but if I keep enough stamina, I will go down at 6:30 to listen to George Rossi play and sing. He does the kind of music I like.

Tomorrow is the first of April....three whole months of 2017 have passed so quickly. I pray this is the month our Bis/Joan will be back on board. And think what a JOY that will be for HER too. And for her beloved family. May God grant it very soon.

Time to go rustle up some supper.....I brought home half my lunch, so I can eat at home at my leisure and watch the news. See you later.

Jeanne, I saw the lovely family over in B and C, and thank you for posting it here too. The babies are so adorable, and the proud parents just GLOW. A wonderful picture.

After supper I took another walk around our gardens and it was fun to see all the apartments lighted up, with t.v.'s shining in the background. Very peaceful and friendly feeling. I am so glad to be living here.

Time for bed and book so I shall prepare for that. Have a peaceful night my dear friends, and we shall meet again in the morning. Hugs, Love, and Prayers. June

Thanks, Hal & June, but from what I've discovered so far, Kansas has no lemon-law for RVs... and finding a lawyer that can win over business people in this city is not worth the time or expense. Might say it is hopeless.  I've been to online sites that discuss problems with RVs & others have had even more problems than I have with no satisfaction or help from the dealers, manufacturers, or any "on your side" public program or law suits.  Kind of "buyer beware".  As long as my son is around & willing to help I will hang onto it.  The place that fixed some of the problems the dealer couldn't solve, may or may not still be willing to work on it, I haven't needed their help for nearly a year.  I pay my son for his time, he protests but I insist, and I do enjoy helping as much as I can do.

Mary Ann, the babies are darling and sure don't look like preemies anymore.  I wish for them a happy and healthy life.... they are lucky to have a special Great Aunt Mary Ann.  Thanks, Jeannie Lee!

Bedtime in Kansas.  Feels like winter tonight.... burrrrrrrrrr.  Need to check on cats.  Sweet dreams to all.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm a little late this morning because we slept in until 7:15 and after the doggies came in, I suddenly remembered that I had not made dog food last night.  So now that's finished for the next few days, they've been fed and I have my coffee.

I'm going to bore you with a "twin" story.  When we brought ours home from the hospital we agreed that I'd get up with the first one and my husband would get up with the second one and so forth.  I was in the kitchen preparing a bottle for Philip who got awake first when I heard a rustling at the doorway.  It was my husband holding Christy.  He said, "you might as well put another one on.  She's up too!

It was about 2 a.m.  As we sat opposite each other in the living room, eyes drooping, my husband said, "Jane, is this what they call togetherness?"  And I guess it was because there we all were....TOGETHER!

Make this day a good one, Everyfriend!

Hi everyone.  The sun is shining and there is a clear sky.  Once again we will be in the low 80's this afternoon.  As expected, yesterday was a quiet day.  I even fixed our evening meal, which was a nice salad with tuna on it, at lunch time so that when we were ready to eat last evening I just had to set it on the table.  We are having these salad type meals about once a week now as they are easy and we both like them.

I did get my income tax refund check in the mail.  I thought I had set it up for direct deposit but must not have done so.

Last evening I did watch the women's Final Four basketball game for the women and saw the South Carolina team beat Stanford and so will play for the National Championship on Sunday.  The South Carolina men play in the Final Four tonight and if they can win they would also play in the Championship game on Monday night.  One of my coffee drinking friends here went to Phoenix yesterday with his son and family to attend the Final Four for the men.

I expect to have another quiet and restful day with no plans to leave the house.  Since it is the first of the month I will pay bills and then watch the basketball game around 6 pm.

Gloria,  sure hope you don't get another April Fools day surprise with snow today.  The pain doctor Pat is to see comes highly recommended and is in practice with the surgeon, who is also highly recommended so am sure they will do all they can for Pat.

Jenny, thanks for sharing the news about Joan.  It does sound like progress but obviously is going to take time.

Joy, have you seen the funny that goes around about the person who starts to do one thing but before completing anything sees something else and that cycle keeps getting repeated until the end of the day when the person realizes that nothing got completed.  My feeling is that if it is important I will get it done and if it isn't then it doesn't matter when it is done.

Mary Ann, I suggested to Pat we have a ramp put in for the one step from the house down to the garage floor but so far she doesn't feel it is necessary.  Fortunately she can hold on to the door frame as she steps down or back up and it is just one step.  I think Turbo Tax is probably very much like TaxAct, which walks a person through the process and you just fill in the blanks.

JaneS, there is no doubt that communication is often our biggest problem in a work or family situation.  It is too bad you can't get someone to listen and understand your concerns.

Shirley, if perspective RV owners were to read back over the troubles you have experienced since you have had this RV the companies would probably go out of business.  Sorry it has been such a thorn in your side as know you had so looked forward to using it when you got it.

Hal, I used to work and work if I couldn't get my bank account to balance but anymore if it is a small amount I just put in an adjustment and go on about my business.  However, I can usually identify the problem and get it to balance. Are you aware that the Post Office will deliver your mail to your door it it becomes too difficult to get your mail at the street.  There is a form, which you can likely find on the USPS website and just requires a doctor to sign off on it.  We did this for my parents when Dad became too unstable on his feet to get to the mailbox, particularly in bad weather in Missouri. Several times my Postman has brought my mail to the door when he has a package to deliver.  We have a sheltered entryway plus not too often do we have wind that would be a problem.

Amy, nice to see your shopping day was so much fun.

Bubble, that was a cute graphic for April Fool's Day.

JaneS, a beautiful story of you and your husband feeding the twins.

Jeanne, that is a pretty graphic for April on the homepage.

Larry, I have a neighbor-lady that left Thursday to meet her son to watch the "Final Four"... she said this is her 16th time to go to the Final Four.  She is my age & they had season tickets all through the years for WSU games, when her husband died she kept going to the games and one of their sons carried on seeing she got to the finals.

I have a neighbor that had trouble climbing the step from garage into the back door so I put a door handle like the old screen doors... on that door facing & I find I use it all the time. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-5-3-4-in-Black-Door-Pull-15449/202033978?MERCH=REC-_-NavPLPHorizontal1_rr-_-NA-_-202033978-_-N (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-5-3-4-in-Black-Door-Pull-15449/202033978?MERCH=REC-_-NavPLPHorizontal1_rr-_-NA-_-202033978-_-N)

Thanks for the sympathy about the defective RV, Pollyanna is back so the good part is I do get trips in with the cats that I would not have been able to make in the old RV....  And the other "good" about it is it sure keeps me busy.  The package just arrived from Amazon so might hear a loud roar if that molding is not the right color!

Bubble, back when my daughter was about 10-12 she put sugar in the salt shaker for April Fool's breakfast. It was NOT funny when everyone's scrambled eggs turned up sweet.  Love your graphic~  Have a happy goofy day to you & Don.

Mary Ann, when Cas died I copied all the comments in here & sent to my kids.... they had no idea how close all of us are until then.

Will be back later... am anxious to check out the molding.  Shirley

Good Morning Everyone!

It is a cloudy, humid start of the day and suppose to get in the high 80's with possible t-storms (scattered).  And starting tonight more general t-storms, some possibly severe,
Lasting until mid-day tomorrow.  But don't bet money on it.

I may have to get something done about the step up/down at my front door and patio door.  But I have looked at it and I don't really know how it could be fixed.  Not really high enough for a step to be added at either entrance, but a pain to step up and down, maybe a grab bar at the patio door, but don't think the wife would buy that for the front entrance way.

It is really strange how you can lose strength so quick as you age.

Larry, I like the OLT tax application (on-line) and it is on 7.95 and I believe that is for the federal and state, I don't have to worry about state income taxes.  And it is like yours, just fill in the blanks.  But if you have done your taxes in previous years much of everything is already filled out, just have to check it

Boy has it come over dark out, maybe some rain is on the way.

I think I forgot to tell all of you with the new babies how pretty they were.  As someone said simply gorgeous.

Janie, you know our youngest daughter when we brought her home she never woke a single night for a feeding.  She was a real jewel all through her early years.

Hal, that was my middle daughter.  I remember being home only a couple days and waking to daylight.  I said to my husband, "It's daylight out there."  He mumbled, "It does that about this time every day."  I answered "But Cindy didn't get up at all"  as I raced over expecting to find her in some big trouble.  She was sleeping peacefully.  But when she did wake up she was HUNGRY!

Good Morning dear hearts. Janie, I am still smiling over the comment your husband made while the two of you were tending the twins.

Hal, I could never do steps without a railing to hang onto, and even a ramp can be dangerous if there is no railing. I think your wife should allow you to adjust to what is needed to get in and out safely. She would not be very happy if you ended up with something broken because you fell.

I am having a "free" day today, so I will be back to annoy you all with more chatter as the day progresses. Right now it is time to make my bed, shower, and get dressed.

Good morning everyone, Mother Nature sure is mean to us here. Rain, snow, wind and cold. She must think it is the first of January instead of April. I have not been sleeping good this week, cannot seem to get to sleep till about 4 AM.

JENNY  that is the best news in the last few weeks. We all know Joan is a fighter after coming through that lung cancer after moving to Florida.

JOY  I have only been getting here once a day lately. Mu “get up and go” is something I wish I had just a little of. There was a bit of snow on the grassy areas last night but from what I just heard we are in for more later today.

JUNE  I would love to send this miserable weather to you to enjoy. It is cold and damp and I do not think you would like that. I know my body dislikes it. We could have up to 5 inches of snow before this is over. I would enjoy a sunny 70° day.

MARY ANN  I can stand holding onto something for about 5 minutes and then have to go lay on the couch for awhile. No fun. Most of the jobs I had were standing and moving around, disliked sitting down jobs.

JANE  no matter where one works it seems like those in charge never listen to the lowly workers. Last jof I had I worked with some chemicals and once asked my boss about them because I had started coughing all the time. He said they were all safe. Well I did manage to get a copy of them and found they were not safe to inhale for a long period. I told him I found out they were bad. This was before vacation. When we got back they had put in a vent where I worked to draw the fumes away. Sure helped, coughing stopped.

SHIRLEY  you should have gone to the TV station or newspapers when you first started having problems with that  RV.

HAL  you and that checkbook sure don't get along together. I have never had a problem with mine.

AMY  glad you and your DIL had such a good time picking out material.

JEANNE LEE  thanks for the links.

MARY ANN  beautiful babies.

BUBBLE  cute graphic. Did you have to send this miserable weather to us here? Bet you are now seeing snowflakes like I am.

AMY  20 years ago today we had a 29 inch snowfall. That was worse than this.

JANE  I started this more than an hour ago. My younger son was here and we had a nice visit. Like your “togetherness” story.

JEANNE  thanks for the link to the home page. I seldom think to look there. Bubble did a wonderful job on that one.

LARRY  about now I would love sun and 80°. It is cold here and we have had a mix of everything from rain to snow. I was told that surgery on my back could make it worse.

SHIRLEY  this building had handles on all doors no doorknobs, Makes it easy to open them.

Happy April Oneth!   No foolin' around, now, y'hear??    :winkie:

Mary Ann,  the twins are precious!   I'm sure it will be fun and, maybe a challenge, to see how their individual personalities develop.

#1 son had colic and by the time he was 6 weeks old, we were beginning to wonder if there was a return policy.  (not really)
#2 son slept through the first night we brought him home from the hospital.  After that, he woke up once - maybe twice - to be fed and went right back to sleep.
Dad was more than willing to help during the night in both instances.  However, with #2, I could be up, have him fed and changed, and be back in bed by the time Dad was awake and alert enough to know what was going on.

The perennials my son planted last year are up and looking good.  However, the Midnight Skulker Bunny apparently feasted on the pansies in the "pot garden" last night.   :tickedoff:

I'm too far behind on commenting individually - please know that I do read and send  :hugs:  to each of you every day.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Shirley, I do have railings beside the step to my stoop it is just my knees don’t have the strength to pull me up.  I can make it OK, hard but OK, with the railing, but if there is no railing, I must have help.  Even a ramp with no railing would require someone to help me.  Once I am on solid ground, I’m OK.  Hal, I have no trouble with the entrance to the house (yet) because I can grab hold of the door jamb (?).  I just need something I can hold onto.  You’re right about losing strength as we age.

Kendrick would like it if I paid attention to him 24/7 so I have to ignore him at times.  He is getting so he will stay on the deck for longer periods of time.  In better weather, I’ll set the timer for 10 minutes, but if it is chilly out, he’ll do his wriggle, then come to the slider to let me know he wants to come in.

Tom is gone for much of the day and I have a few things I’ve neglected so I’ll try to get to at least one of them.

Shirley, when I was very young, and I have no recollection of it except what my mother told me, Mother was at some church function and Dad was taking care of me.  When she got home, Mother asked if I had been good and Dad said I had been.  But!  Mother discovered I had mixed the salt and sugar in the bins where those were kept.  I guess I wasn’t as good as Dad thought.  I probably was three or four.

With my federal tax, e-filing is free, but the state charges $25.  Since I have to pay the state, I’m going to print it out and mail it to them.  I have now changed my pension payment to have them take out about $30 per month which would pay for my payment.  I saw something that read “if you don’t get an IRS refund, you’re doing it right”.  My fed refund is not much and I’d like the state to be similar.

Gloria, I do a bit better than  you because I can sit down to relieve the pain and have to sit for only a few minutes but my standing is more like yours.   I replaced my front door knobs with handles a couple of years ago.  Not like those in Shirley’s link, but handles, nevertheless and I like them.  They’re nicer looking also.

Callie, thank you for the nice words about the babies.  I'm looking forward to a few years for me to enjoy them before I'm gone forever.  I get a kick out of everyone's experiences with newborns because I never had to put up with that.  I did, however, have them overnight at 6 months or so.  Sometime I'll post some of the more humorous times.

I think I’ve taken up enough space and I’ll leave some for others.  It is a beautiful, sunny day.

Mary Ann

Good Afternoon,  Everyone..  from the snowy and cold,  rocky coast of Maine.

It has been snowing for hours and at times looks like a blizzard,  but after today the temps will be going up into the 40's 50's,  so  soon all the snow will be that we got today will be melted.

Hal,  why don't you prepare one entrance/exit
for  "wheel chair"  access ....  and you can use that one
all the time..  If they are both on the same level,
then one being altered should satisfy you.

Of course,  perhaps you are considering moving to an assisted living residence soon,  so entering and exiting that would not be an issue.

I know how difficult it is to have to give up the old ways to prepare for the eventual newer ways.

I myself had to stop things pretty abruptly (because of my visual handicap),  so each step along the way I made with my own limited
independence in mind.

Sad as that might be,  I am happy to have made the adjustment,
while I can still remain independent.

Best wishes.
Sandy

Sandy what a cute photo of Fe!!! She is really growing...

Hal, when I looked after our friend we had a ramp built in the front but it is open to weather...we also had a ramp built in the sunroom that would take you right into the garage. That ramp was taken apart after his passing in 2012. At the beginning of winter we built another one to replace it, just in case I had to get hubby out quick or needed to call an ambulance.  I also bought him door knob grippers like these..

http://agecomfort.com/products/knobble-door-knob-gripper.html

Laundry was hung out and now it is all back in smelling so nice..ironing done, wood box filled and another load to go in, clipped our dogs nails then went over to the neighbours and did their dog.Came home with a bottle of fresh maple syrup too!!!

Gloria, love the acronyms

Just had another walk around the gardens, and I am suddenly very weary, so I will have to pass on tonights program, and I really like George Rossi's entertainment.  The body truly does rule, and we have to listen.I'm just so thankful I live here where help is just two floors down from me..very reassuring.

Amy, I agree with you on the ramp for Hal. We are not getting younger, and we should have what we know we will need and not wait till the last minute, when we have to depend on someone else to do our bidding.

Hal, I hope you are listening.

Sandy, you have done so very well in your recovery from the stroke, and your attitude of acceptance of what you can and cannot do is an inspiration. I'm proud of you girl.

I had such a huge lunch today, I am going to have a light supper at home tonight. In fact I think I will get into my sleeping clothes, so I won't be tempted to go down for the entertainment. The spirit is willing but the body is weak. alas..

Thanks June !!

And  you have also gone where you needed to go and
done what needed to be done to be near your children
and still live independently,  making sure that help, when
needed,  is right there for you.

That is so important and a great gift that you have

I wish you all the best,   have a nice evening

Sandy, and I thank YOU for your kind words and understanding.

I had some leftover soup for supper, and some vanilla mousse I brought home from lunch time. So my stomach is content and soon I will brush my teeth and crawl into a cozy bed with book.

I just spent some time over in photos..enjoying pictures that Don posted from his visit with Bubbles. They are a very special couple and it was so much fun sharing it all with them through photos...thank you Don, if you are looking in.

Have a safe and contented night my dear ones. Keep well and happy, and I send you my usual Love, Hugs and Prayers. June

I find it very interesting to hear all the options available to everyone who is facing their "Golden" years.  However, while the options available are nice, they are not available to everyone.  I'm happy for those of you who can exercise the options and have what you consider to be the "perfect" place.  Please continue to enjoy what you you have chosen, God willing!  I pray for all of us every night and every morning.

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'll be feeding the doggies and getting ready for early church this morning.  Maybe this morning I'll join some friends for breakfast after church. I hope Everyfriend is taking the opportunity of sleeping in this morning.  It's still winter here in Central Pa and it wouldn't have taken much to roll over in my warm bed and enjoy a few more winks but it's my turn to read the lesson this morning so I'm up and attem.

I'll be back later, I hope!

Good morning everyone, yes I am early, had a sleepless night so figured I might as well get up. Babies waking at night, #1 woke around 2am for less than a month. #2 slept from 10 PM till 9AM after a few days home. That was great, gave me time to get first one up and breakfast done and their father off to work. #3 slept great from the beginning. At 62 she is still a good sleeper.

CALLIE  my daughter is going to try a “pot” garden this year, she calls it experimental because she has no idea what will grow good where they now live. They bought some chicken wire to put up around the pots to keep rabbits out, she said they see a lot of jack rabbits. If things work good next year she will have raised beds. A neighbor gave them a load of good soil from his compost pile.

MARY ANN  like you I need a railing to help me get up any stairs. Main reason I moved here, no stairs. Both sons have 4 steps to get up but grandson has a split level so 2 steps outside but more inside. I can walk with my rollator around the parking lot a few times it is the standing that gets me. I can only sit do long.

SANDY  we did not get any snow except for a few flakes at times but we had a lot of rain and wind. Your little sweetie is cuter with each new photo you put in.

AMY  I never saw anything like those knob grippers. Neat idea. I could still turn a knob if there was one. Thanks, I always wondered what all those acronyms were.

JUNE  I am so glad you moved. If you had not you might have been taken to the hospital more. Wonderful to have every thing you need so close.

JANE  I am glad I moved here, at least I can go outside when ever I want. Great no needing someone with me using the stairs at my son's house.

LLOYD  the way I was feeling the last week I did get here at least once every day with at least a short post. Like you I miss Joan and pray for her often. You could not keep me away from the Soda Shoppe as long as I am able to sit at the computer for awhile. What is sacrifice tea? I am not a tea drinker but heard of many kind but never sacrifice tea.

JANE  after no sleep all night I just might go back to bed whan I finish here.

I cannot remember if Joan posted this or if I got it in an email. I know I saved it.

YOU MIGHT BE A YOUTH MINISTER IF...
(By Steve Long)

- Your summer begins when Youth Camp and Music Camp end.
- You check the duct tape on the van before you leave the parking lot.
- You rolled your eyes when the pastor told the congregation how much the choir members sacrifice to serve God.
- Every year one of your kids is responsible for getting something new added to the list of things you can't take to camp.
- Navy boot camp was a piece of cake compared to Youth Camp.
- Everyone in the church runs when they see you coming for fear you're trying to recruit them.
- You're afraid to close your eyes when you pray.
- You spend more time at school now than you did when you were a teenager.
- When people ask you how many kids you have, you tell them between 60 and 70.
- Your pizza budget is bigger than your salary.
- You honestly believe you're only doing this temporarily until the church finds a real professional.
- You think the four major food groups are pizza, cokes, chips and twix.
- You plan an event for 200 and 50 show up.
- You plan an event for 50 and 200 show up.
- You've ever questioned the inerrancy of Scripture because it says the Sabbath is a day of rest.
- You can't blame your own kids for the gray in your hair.
- You know how to attach underwear to a flagpole.
- The words you hear most often are "awesome" and "duh".
- The church janitor won't speak to you.
- Your idea of goin' fishin' is a missionary endeavor.
- You've ever spent a night in prayer agonizing over the life and soul of a teenager.

Hi everyone on another beautiful sunny Sunday morning.  I am ready for Sunday School and Church but Pat is not going as just doesn't feel up to it.  I will have to think of something to bring home for our main meal for today.  I did fix Pat's scrambled eggs, strawberries and coffee for her breakfast.  Nothing else planned for today although may watch the women's National Championship Basketball game.  Unfortunately the South Carolina men's team lost yesterday.

Shirley, your neighbor lady has seen a lot of good basketball games over the 16 years.  Wichita State University usually has good contending teams. I will have to keep that door handle idea in mind for the future as know Pat's problems are not going to go away.

Hal, I think the charge for the tax preparation software I use is for the State return.  I may have to check out the OLT tax application as the price is certainly better but as you say my current program has all of my previous data stored and fills in a lot each year.

June, a ramp would certainly have to have a railing to be safe.  My folks had one in their garage and it had a railing.

Gloria, like you my wife can only stand for maybe 5 minutes and then needs to sit down.  Sorry you continue to experience winter.  Wish I could share our 80 degree days with you all up your way.  I would have to keep a cheat sheet handle if I were to use all of those Acronyms or have someone send me a message with them.

Sandy, you have done a great job of remaining independent and putting yourself in the right place to be able to do so.

Amy, in the house we moved from we had our master bath doorway widened to handle a wheelchair as expected to stay there.  However, that was never needed.  I think the doorways in this house are wide enough for a wheelchair.  Good idea to be prepared with the ramp as better to have it and not need it than the other way around.
